Best way to get hide?

To get hide I usually use a therizino and kill brontos. Is there a better way?

Doubt it. Theri has 5 stars and his additional farming levels. Maybe a really high melee stat and a max damage chainsaw, but you have to kill manually and run around. And killing Brontos on foot is a pain in the butt.

Yup, Therizino's C-attack is the best way to go. At least if you're not on Scorched Earth. Don't know much about the chainsaw...

Umm in my opnion;

1. Squid. Killing Plesios and Mosas give you tons of hide. We have 3 vaults full of it. 

2. Wyvern.

Therizino's. Kill the dino then press C. Level the theri in soft harvesting.

Just do not forget to level up delicate harvesting not power for hide.

Theri > Mantis w/ Hatchet > Chainsaw > Wolf/Saber/Thyla > Generic carnivore (i.e. Rex, Giga, Tuso). I don't really go for any specific creature, though I avoid smaller ones like Dodos and Lystros

Therizino all delicate power and melee, use the C button to harvest after killing the dinos. You can get over 800 hide from an argent, stego, bronto, etc.

Just curious - what do you need so much hide for?  My Theri is leveled in power harvesting, and I still have too much hide....I just throw it away now...

We have a 145 PT theri with all power levels into it and with the regular attack we easily get 130-160 hide on dilos and upwards of 3-400 on bronto's

Best way I find in farming hide and meat without doing much.. I created an anti-bronto defense system on my base as i dont have walls cause i find them ugly (this is to stop brontos from destroying my greenhouse). So I have 3 centipedes on turret aggressive mode. I have 6 rexes, 4 270ish levels and 2 lowbies had them on follow on my centis but are also set to aggressive mode. they farm for me 24/7 I only have to come get them unstuck every now and then on my own structures. But damn they collect meat and hide quite easily and sooo much i get encumbered on hides every time i clear there inventories out. i clear them every 2 or 3 days. Oh, I have 550 weight on my own char as well.

Theri is the best option. Level up delicate harvesting and melee, and use the bite attack. On my x3 gather server, I get around 500 hide per dino, and 1K+ for brontos. Imprinted theris will gather even more hide.

I take my bear into the cave by the volcano and get a bunch. Its easy mode.

We are also raising 7 Rex's so the meat is a welcome addition to the hide, although all the prime meat gets annoying

no you pretty much got it right therizinos are what you go to when you need to flay something for hide.

Ohhh No wonder i never noticed the difference in hide on my Theri. Was't thinking about delicate!

We make a "Slaughterhouse". Its just a small pen (3x3) with upwards sloped ramps on the walls to create a funnel into the pen and a dino gate. Every time we come back to the base we pick up a dino and drop it in the pen where we usually have 3 Sabertooths waiting on aggressive. You could leave your Theri's in there instead. Check the sabertooths once in a while and you get hide, meat, chitin, etc. based on whatever you drop in there. It adds up fast and I get a kick out of seeing how fast the sabers kill whatever is dropped in. It also helps level up your sabertooths without much work on your part.

Always get 2 Theris, a delicate harvester and a power harvester. The delicate one can get you tons of hide with the c attack. it also gets you tons of berries and fiber. when you go into the swamp you also get plant x seeds and tons of rare flowers.

high quality saddles. my asc rex saddle costs nearly 10k hide each.

 

Also, idk why people are suggesting sabers for hide, lol. There are many much better options before theriz.
