  2. Name: Giant Bison Species: Bison longicornis Time: Pleistocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Territorial Wild: Traveling in massive herds for greater pastures, the largest bovine in existence is a sight to behold. With their massive pair of horns, they are known to be aggressive chargers and capable of goring any predator willing to challenge them including wolves and bears. Their large bodies capable of withstanding the harshest winters with their ever-growing pelts, making them durable enough to resist freezing to death. Taming: Extremely sought for their pelts, horns, and the rich bovine milk, taming a Bison isn't as easy at it looks. Many tribesmen attempt to bull-ride in hopes to tire them out and begin feeding them when they aren't wide awake. Beware getting bucked off, I've seen many tribesmen knocked out with that heavy bull kick to the face. Some get gored if unlucky enough. Domesticated: Once they are tamed, this of course unfortunately attracts every now and then random predators who want to raid your livestock and eat them all. The milk produced by the females gives any baby animal being raised a quite needed boost, potentially can be warmed up in an cooking pot for a special buff against the cold weather. With their hulking bodies, they offer extra warmth and can carry weight much like modern ox. Like modern cattle, their feces is much more potent fertilizer often referred to as "cow pie" that gives crops a boost of extra harvest. ARK Meta: Combat: Built in with a charge mechanic similar to Triceratops and the Woolly Rhinoceros, the Bison could impale its victims into their horns and gore them to bleed out, as well a herd buff to boost their strength with mate boost activated, dealing extreme damage. Crippling debuff inflicted on players and dinosaurs if it successfully charges. Utility: Another farm animal for the common PVE (or RP) players who would love a cow in ARK (like the ones in Atlas). Bison milk in turn could be cooked warmly to drink as an insulation buff against the cold, or fed to babies, especially baby Wyverns who require milk themselves. When Bison defecate, they drop a special feces called "cow pie" which is much better than other dinosaur feces, and more efficient, sometimes giving the crops a boost of extra harvest. With a unique cart or wagon saddle, depending on the type of saddle chosen affects how the player how much weight they can carry back and forth from point A to point B with more speed. The amount of Bison needed for the type of cart or wagon saddle affects not only speed, the weight and the mobility of the mini-wheeled base. Bison Milk - Like other bovines, Bison can be milked for their nutritional sweet baby food. If fed to warm blooded babies, the calcium would help them grow much faster than normal than any other food if given the proper care. Can be substituted for any food a baby might require care such as kibble. Bison Milk Cheese - A crafting recipe requiring Bison milk, a very delicious cheese with a very wild yet sweet taste. Who knows what else it could offer? Raids: Having a livestock of these Bison will eventually lead to many predators wanting to assault your base to eat your beef, much in the same manner as how the Corrupted attack Element Veins/OSDs or the Nameless harassing you if you don't have a charge pet. You will have to turn full on cowboy to keep them at bay every now and then. FJORDUR: - Useful in colder areas, especially Jotunheim, the bison's thick fur pelt will keep the player protected from the dangerous sub-zero temperatures and deter off any nasty wolves or bears who dare come too close. - Major harvester if on a trip on foot to harvest metal or wood, or various other resources, depending on the cart or wagon saddle will speed determine the rough terrain. - With predatory dinosaurs and other animals wanting to eat your livestock, you could either use this to your advantage to lure a high level carnivore or simply farm experience from killing them all.

  3. It's really such a shame. WC has been building their brand and reputation with the creativity and skills of everyone on the team working at the company for the past 7 years. As well as inspiring others in the community to contribute. I have been one of them. A diehard supporter since the beginning. In all those 7 years, Ark / WC has been a good place. A neutral place and there was harmony, never having to get politics involved. Not once. With the beginning of June this year, it's becoming more and more clear that there is either new management at WC, or the old bosses just don't care about community anymore since they've milked profits from Ark 1 as much as possible. So now they've decided to throw their reputation in the trash by becoming political and voicing opinions when they shouldn't have one. Individually, that's fine. People are allowed to have opinions. But publicly, as a company, no. If someone new is in charge and making their voice the companies, then I hope they get removed, before it's too late. I know I've lost a ton of respect for WC recently which is a real shame considering I believed a job there was a true dream job, just a short time ago. All this political talk, and not even a single bit of news regarding the summer bash event. It's really a shame what things are coming to.

  7. Hey Survivors! We have so much on the horizon for the ARK universe and we don’t want to keep our community waiting any longer so let’s skip the preamble and jump right in! We are currently working on our expansive sequel with all our might! But we have postponed the release date to 2023 in order to create an adventure that will be unforgettable for everyone, respectful of our team’s health, realize the potential of upgrading to Unreal 5, and to introduce revolutionary full mod support for console players! ARK 2 will launch in 2023, simultaneously on Steam Early Access and as a console launch exclusive for Xbox Series X|S and with Xbox and PC Game Pass on Game Preview. We believe that ARK 2 will be the ultimate primal survival experience and want to devote the resources needed to bring that to fruition. When you finally take your first steps onto the beautiful and dangerous new world of Arat in 2023, we intend that it’ll have been worth the time to get there. You can now wishlist ARK 2 on Steam here! Suddenly awakened on a strange primal world filled with dinosaurs and humans struggling for dominance; you must piece together the history of how you arrived there, team-up with legendary heroes, and confront powerful dark forces seeking to control the fate of all life. Saddle up, and join the definitive next-generation survival experience with ARK 2! Every aspect of the ARK series has been rethought and redesigned in this sequel. Here's a sampling of the new features that ARK 2 will contain upon its initial Early Access and Game Preview release: Starring Vin Diesel ("Fast Franchise") as legendary ARK hero Santiago, experience an epoch-spanning adventure as he seeks to protect his daughter Meeka -- voiced by Auli'i Cravalho ("Moana") -- from the ghosts of the ancient past and visions of a new future. Fully stackable, user-created Mods for new creatures, items, gameplay features, and maps are now distributed across all platforms -- including onto Xbox -- and support for modded servers enabled through official mod support by mod.io! Here’s a little bit more information about this new technology partnership: "mod.io is a cross-platform UGC solution, supporting 11 game systems and stores. By partnering with mod.io, we are connecting ARK 2 with a complete ecosystem in which mods can exist, be presented, and accessed in-game. We’re excited to see our vision for Mods powered by proven tech, and deliver the best possible experience for players, everywhere they can play ARK 2." Advanced character traversal mechanics like mantling, free-climbing, parkour, sliding, and swinging! Target-lock, blocks, dodges, combos, staggers, special attacks, emphasizing player-skill-based action. Explore a mysterious, chaotic world where native flora and fauna are being overrun by invasive primeval creatures from an extinct Earth! Construct your weapons and tools from a range of distinct modules to customize their look and functionality -- millions of possible combinations enable you to craft your own unique gear! The specific materials you choose will further affect the appearance of your items, with multiple options of resources found in unique regions of the world. Natural and unnatural occurrences are always happening across the game world, independent of your presence! Your choices in deciding whether to interact with these events will yield rewards or challenges. Hostile 'Aratai' hunt & attack you riding their own tamed creatures, as they seek to drive human interlopers from their world. Instanced rendering and network-streaming enable much higher client and server performance for large, player-built structures, and a longer draw distance! Survivors can set up and save their own preferred building templates, share them, and place prospective template layouts in the world to then build them out as a team. No omnipresent radar -- animals now track and hunt by sight, sound, and smell! Hide from predators with visual camouflage and environmental obstructions, and learn to mask your scent! Dynamic pathfinding enables creatures to intelligently maneuver around obstacles and player-built structures. Gain both experience points from gameplay, and knowledge points by accomplishing key objectives and overcoming unique challenges, to progress along a massive skill tree filled with new active abilities, perks, and passive benefits. See foliage react convincingly to passing wildlife, water flow downstream around obstacles, volumetric stormclouds, localized weather systems, smoke and particles affected by physical forces, and much more! Fundamental advancement of lighting systems enables a more photorealistic day-night cycle, generating real-time ambient lighting & shadows within both natural and player-constructed environments! As we journey into the next evolution of ARK, Jesse and Jeremy reflected on the time they’ve spent creating ARK and wanted to include a personal message about ARK 2 to the community. The future of survival games begins with ARK 2 When we first released ARK: Survival Evolved in 2015, we had no idea how big it would eventually become. It was beyond our wildest expectations that 7 years later we’d be developing an eons-spanning narrative across multiple games, a TV series, and starring none other than Vin Diesel as key ARK hero Santiago. And yet here we are, together with our wonderful players who have stuck with the ARK universe through thick (RAGNAROK!!) and thin (FLYER NERF??), now having a canvas far bigger than ever before. That’s what ARK 2 is – the biggest canvas ever for primal survival experiences, a next-generation framework to play out your own survival stories. ARK 2’s main narrative tells the story of a father and a daughter (“Meeka” played by Auli'i Cravalho!), of betrayal & broken promises, and the strength of the family bond – and of course, it’s a story of badass giant dinosaurs. But even more importantly, this is about players’ own stories – like any good persistent-world online survival game, ‘Survivors’ in ARK 2 each have their own unique path through the game, as they form their own tribe, make their own friends, and attempt to build their own creature-aided civilization. With ARK 2, we’re seeking not only to enhance the game’s narrative and world-building, but also retouch and improve on all aspects of what constitutes an ARK game. Foremost among these redesigns are the core player mechanics. In the sequel, which is third-person-only, controls and movement for both players and creatures have been completely redesigned. Taking inspiration from game systems like Assassin’s Creed’s automatic parkour and Breath of the Wild’s climbing, player characters can now clamber over the environment in a more realistic and freeform manner. With a focus on primitive-era combat (Santiago and Tek have a ‘complicated’ relationship…), ARK 2 draws heavily from Souls-like action for its human-scale combat: an emphasis on dodges, blocks, light and heavy attacks, combos, and player-reflex skill – a rarity for the PvP survival genre. For creature-scale combat, suffice it to say for now that when you attack something with your T-Rex in ARK 2, the results are visceral: the animation of the attack actually hard-impacts on the target (not “passing through” it), the victim’s flesh is torn, and the target physically reacts at that location to the hit – all to convey the feeling of the raw power of such a ferocious creature! Another area that we’re particularly excited about is the World Event system. Rather than simply having a more-or-less static environment with easily predictable or repetitive occurrences ala ARK 1, the new World Event system is designed to ensure that unique things are always happening around the world, whether you are there or not. Events include procedurally-dynamic scenarios like watering hole gatherings, wounded creatures, tracking the signs of advanced prey, stampedes, herds, defending endangered creatures to earn their trust, finding dens of parent creatures and their young, and more. Whether you choose to engage with these events is up to you, and each can yield unique rewards and challenges. There are too many other areas of fundamental changes in ARK 2, whether it’s the new opposing-force ‘Aratai’ who have their own tames, the new Creature Management & proper World Map systems, the advanced component-based item crafting that enables players to choose exactly what their gear looks and functions like from millions of potential combinations, or the revamped build system which provides innumerable more building options and enables saving & sharing of build templates – or, or…well, there’s just too much to go over here! You’ll get your first preview of the ARK 2 gameplay down the road, and we think you’ll like what you see. Finally, saving perhaps the best for last, ARK 2 adds a revolutionary new feature for console players: fully stackable, user-created mods, including on unofficial servers, for the Xbox version of the game enabled through official mod support by mod.io! This means that players who create mods using the PC version will be able to upload them to the cloud and make them available for all console players to enjoy as well. With this, as we’ve seen with ARK 1 on PC, everything in the game can effectively be changed, improved, and redesigned: new creatures, new game types, new maps, new weapons & items, and mechanics (yes modders can re-add First Person mode ). With the power of Unreal Engine 5, the only limit will be the imagination of the content creators themselves. We’re super stoked to witness the mind-blowing additions that players will no doubt create in their mods and maps – and we believe that having all such user generated content playable on console in ARK 2, with complete cross-platform server integration, is going to change the nature of the genre forever. Put simply: with ARK 2, our goal is to make the game that we all wanted ARK 1 to be – now that we’ve had the time, resources, and knowledge to do it right. So in 2023 on Xbox & PC Game Pass, we’ll look forward to seeing you all in this new world of primeval creatures and legendary heroes. Just keep an eye out for Vin – he likes to play on his Series X more than you might expect, and his skill at wrangling a Giga is unequaled… Yours truly, Jeremy Stieglitz, Jesse Rapczak and the Wildcard team. ARK’s development has always benefited from external teams providing their expertise for ARK’s myriad of content and game systems. Whether it be Instinct Games, Efecto Studios, or another developer that’s partnered with us during the creation of ARK: Survival Evolved, we’ve always leveraged the amazing talent from external studios to create the best version of ARK for our fans. In that spirit, we’re partnering with Grove Street Games to co-develop ARK 2 and rewrite the ARK Nintendo Switch code with a full revamp of gameplay functionality, graphics, and optimization. Thomas Williamson, the Director of Grove Street, will be Development Director and Technical Director of ARK 2 with parts of the Grove Street Games team also joining ARK 2’s production in a development partnership. Jeremy and Jesse will balance their time between games and the expansion of the ARK franchise across multiple platforms and formats, with Jeremy focusing his creative efforts on the TV series and other initiatives, whilst continuing to serve as Executive Producer of ARK 2. Jesse will continue as Creative Director of ARK 2 and co-creator of the TV series. We are beyond-thrilled that Thomas and the incredibly talented team at Grove Street Games have opted to go all-in on partnering up to build the next iterations of the ARK franchise. By combining Grove Street's amazing capabilities with Studio Wildcard, we’re confident ARK 2 is going to be a mind-blowing experience! We know many of you have also been waiting expectantly for news on the Animated Series, and we’re so looking forward to being able to share more with everyone about it. The Series now has fourteen 30-minute episodes in post-production! To celebrate this milestone, we have released the first poster images of key characters from the show, available here. ARK: The Animated Series chronicles the story of a mysterious primeval land populated by dinosaurs and other extinct creatures, where people from throughout human history have been resurrected. When 21st century Australian paleontologist Helena Walker awakes on the ARK after tragedy, she must learn to survive and find new allies, or die again at the hands of ruthless warlords -- all while trying to uncover the true nature of their strange new world. Jay Oliva (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox) has taken on the role of Executive Producer, Director, and Co-Showrunner, alongside ARK franchise creators Jeremy Stieglitz and Jesse Rapczak, with the series being produced at Glendale-based Lex+Otis animation studio. Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded) and Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch) have also joined the series’ talented cast. The show features an extraordinary voice cast, including Gerard Butler (300), Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Madeleine Madden (The Wheel of Time), Devery Jacobs (American Gods), Deborah Mailman (Total Control), Zahn McClarnon (Doctor Sleep), Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), Elliot Page (The Umbrella Academy), Ragga Ragnars (Vikings), David Tennant (Good Omens), Alan Tudyk (Rogue One), Karl Urban (The Boys), Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), Ron Yuan (Mulan), with Russell Crowe (Gladiator) and Vin Diesel reprising his role as franchise hero, Santiago. We look forward to sharing more news soon! In April we announced that Nintendo Switch would be receiving a completely rehauled version of ARK that will include enhancements and upgrades to bring it into line, visually and functionally, with the experience on Xbox One and PS4. Today, we’re happy to share an update on the progress and more information on ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition! ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition will introduce new story cutscenes to conclude each ARK map, featuring actors Maddy Madden (The Wheel of Time) and David Tennant (Doctor Who) reprising their respective roles as Helena Walker and Sir Edmund Rockwell. All of Helena’s and Rockwell’s Dossiers and Explorer Notes will also be voiced by the actors, as will survivors’ epic confrontation versus Rockwell on ARK Aberration. Madden will also voice the cheery robot-AI guide HLN-A in the "Young Explorer's Mode" that will lead players through ARK in a low-pressure, kid-friendly, dino-fact-filled adventure. We’re happy to show you what to expect in September, so Tune in at 1:30pm Pacific Monday, June 13, to /twitchgaming livestream to see the first gameplay of ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition on Switch. 9. Charcarodontosaurus will make a triumphant entry to ARK with a noteworthy set of abilities that puts it in competition with ARK's most feared carnivores! With a notable taste for blood, Charcarodontosaurus will become more frenzied as it gets its fill. Common Name: Carcharodontosaurus Species: Carcharodontosaurus medicupestis Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive I feel lucky to have crossed paths with Carcharodontosaurus medicupestis and lived to tell the tale. Though I’m not sure if this predator grows bigger than a Giganotosaurus, I hope never to find out. Just one of these bruisers held its own against an army of us, and that encounter cost us dearly. Carcharodontosaurus can sweep aside attackers with its tail, but it’s the other end you’ll really want to avoid. It has teeth like steak knives, set in jaws strong enough to shred most prey. Even a near-miss will carve you up, but good. Like its namesake the great white shark, Carcharodontosaurus gets more dangerous once it tastes blood. Each kill seems to give these monsters a rush and drive it into a berserker frenzy. Anyone that manages to tame a Carcharodontosaurus will gain a new way to rally their tribe for battle. There’s something about this monster’s roar that drives others to fight — a war cry for Hell’s own army. The more tactical tribes will let their Carcharodontosaurus tear through the mid-sized creatures in their enemy’s ranks, thereby building up its bloodrage to take on the largest threats. Talk about shock and awe! Carcharodontosaurus will make its way onto the ARKs later this year!

  12. Welcome to my post! I hope you enjoy my concept and ideas, based on the oldest insect known, the Rhyniognatha! It's meant to add an original style of creature by using a type almost fogotten in ARK, the insects! It's also a way to make the sky more dangerous even if you already tamed a flying mount! Also, once tamed, it turns into an end-game mount! I'll elaborate with these images about its design, skills, motorcycle saddle, among other stuff! Please feel free to share your thoughts, or suggest any change or feature in the comments! Even if several features are removed, I'd be happy if it keeps the air-water versatility and the motorcycle saddle. The main purpose of this creature is to make ARK's skies actually dangerous and to make an all-terrain stylish mount! Also the art took me a lot of time...

  17. Introduction! Hey all, Welcome to my creature submission for Fjordur! You can read what I wrote below for the full Dossier text, along with some extra information, and a viewable Dossier that I myself along with two artists created! Credit largely goes to them Myotragus Dossier Text Wild On the surface, Myotragus sensorem looks like a regular mountain goat. Upon closer inspection however, this creature is a lucky thing to come across. In the wild, Myotragus sensorem is passive, though defensive when attacked. Myotragus are capable of scaling the steep slopes of the mountainous regions. This verticality, combined with their high fortitude when in the presence of certain resources, makes them a dangerous foe if they are attacked in areas containing high quantities of materials often useful to survivors. The sharpened horns of Myotragus allow them to pierce the flesh of creatures and survivors alike, causing them to bleed. Combined with this, Myotragus are about as large as an adult survivor. Thus, it is wise to avoid violent confrontation with Myotragus unless necessary. Domesticated Perhaps the most unique capability of Myotragus is its strange propensity to sensing various local resource deposits along with creatures in a given area. Tribes have found that upon showing Myotragus specific resources, it will point its human companion in the right direction. While Myotragus are not effective gatherers on their own, they have the unique ability of having an easier time carrying the resources which they can sense. This makes them efficient at helping survivors find resources to then carry back to their encampments with ease. The unique jump-height, verticality, and weight carrying capacity of Myotragus, combined with its ability to sense local resources, makes it an excellent companion to have in these harsh lands. Utility With the Dossier out of the way, let's get into the details of the Myotragus. This goat has the utility of 'sensing' resources, but also creatures in a given area. My pitch, is that the radius of this sensing ability can be extended via level-ups, or it could be tied to level in some way. Also, when a Myotragus spawns, it could work similar to the Gacha on Extinction, where it has special capabilities with a random set of resources. The gacha can create those resources, but the Myotragus can instead be able to sense them and carry them with weight reduction. A list of resources may include the following: Raw Metal Obsidian Crystal Gems Oil Sap Sulfur Silica Pearls Black Pearls Fungal Wood Raw Salt Then, the second utility ability of the Myotragus could be that it can similarly sense a random set of creatures, somewhat like the Parasaur but from a much greater distance, only sensing Wild creatures specifically. In my eyes, this can act like a vanilla replacement for mods like S+ that help you track down creatures by just typing their name in. The Myotragus instead can be a balanced approach to this. It would encourage taming lots of them if each one could have drastically different preferred creatures, perhaps 5-8. This way, if you wanted to find one creature or another, you would pick your tamed goat which is especially fond of that creature, and journey out into the lands of Fjordur. Third, I would suggest that the Myotragus can track down Explorer Notes, much like the Direwolf. Except instead, they could detect them from a much larger range. Perhaps tying into a level-up ability increasing the range? As a player who very much enjoys collecting notes for the satisfaction, having this creature on any other map would make it so much easier. Lastly, Myotragus could be a second source of Mutton, as currently the Ovis is the only creature which can be harvested for such meat. That said, I would suggest making the yield from mutton far lower than Ovis, so that it still has dominance in the field of harvesting mutton. Perhaps for every 10 Raw Mutton an ovis grants, the Myo only gets 1-2. The following resources could be obtained from harvesting Myotragus: Raw Mutton Hide Pelt Combat The Myotragus is perhaps most comparable to the male Megaloceros, except both male and female Myotragus have horns. Beyond the sensing ability of the horns, they are also sharp and can deliver serious bleed damage to opponents. In the wild, Myotragus act similar to Pachycephalosaurus, where they will not attack unless provoked. Overall, nothing immensely special, but the Myotragus can deliver enough damage to defend itself and fight off any would-be attackers. It could also be said that Myotragus get buffed when near the creatures that they have a fondness towards sensing / seeking, giving them an actual damage and resistance buff. Perhaps this could be applied for both wild and tamed creatures of the specific type that it likes. Travel Lastly, the goat can be great for traversal, and here's why! As shown in the Dossier, the suggested ability of Myotragus is to be able to walk up very steep surfaces. It does not have to be as extreme as the example shown on the left-hand side in verticality, but it could be comparable to the ability of the Tek Boots, allowing you to go up much steeper cliffs than most creatures, or than how you could as a Survivor on foot. Myotragus could have decent stamina, a fantastic and large jump-height (as seen in goats in the real world), and take far reduced, or perhaps no fall damage whatsoever. Taming Taming Myotragus is a somewhat difficult task, and requires a fairly wide variety of resources. First, survivors must drop a resource on the ground near Myotragus in order to test if their horns indicate that they are excited. After isolating which resource(s) do this, survivors can then drop the resource on the ground (much like with Gachas), which causes the Myotragus to get very excited, and pick up / carry the item, using its horns. After a certain amount of time, the Myotragus will feel like picking up more of its favorite resources, but if it is given the same one repeatedly, the taming effectiveness will go down. Conclusion I hope you like my pitch! Please upvote the Myotragus if this is a creature that appeals to you, and you want more unique mechanics! We don't quite have anything in the base game that can 'track down' specific resources or creatures like this, and so I'm really into this idea!

Roe v Wade: I'm super saddened by some of these comments I'm reading about the roe v wade thing. I think some of these people need to find a new game and new community. Ark and WC have always been pretty open about their politics and what they support, especially with the united states being such a dumpster fire right now. As a Canadian, I'm sorry you guys are going 50 years back into the past, and I'm watching closely to see what rights of yours they will be taking away next because the supreme court made it very clear, they want to take away a lot more. Honestly, it shouldn't be a law in the first place. This is plan old personal health care.

  27. My submission for the next Ark vote is Titanoceratops scutigerulus, a massive powerhouse of a ceratopsian capable of easily destroying defenses, breaking through metal dino gates like a battering ram, ignoring all placed traps, and fighting off Ark’s deadliest theropod the Giga. Through a labor of love I’ve designed not just a dossier but actual in game quality concept art for this animal. Abilities: It’s main two damage abilities are dealing high amounts of damage to both creatures of higher drag weight (scaling up as the drag weight scales) and dealing high damage to gates and doors up to metal behemoth gates. The trade off for dealing damage to metal is that it must consume raw metal (around 5 to 10 metal per 5 seconds, it allows for a 30 second window to damage metal and has a cool down that lasts for around a minute) through a stance change that makes it slower as a trade off similar to the Magmasaurs’s smelting ability minus the smelting. While it does mediocre damage to metal structures in this state it does high amounts of damage to doors and dino gates making it effectively a battering ram. As for it’s Giga slaying abilities, it will be able to resist it’s gnash and deal higher damage to it than other creatures due to it’s increased drag weight damage. It’s also particularly well protected from the front having a high damage resistance to both it’s frill and legs, this paired with the anti bleed effect and high health make it a great defense against Ark’s largest and deadliest theropod. It’s other prime function is acting as a tower shield for large dinos up to the height of a rex, it’s great for effectively tanking huge amounts of bullets and explosives with little damage. In addition when multiple Titanoceratops are near they gain a herd buff that increases the damage resistance and gives a buff to nearby saddleless dinos, it however does not effect dinos with natural armor like the Reaper and Shadowmane. It can also pivot in place similar to a Rock Golem allowing it to defend against attackers from any angle. Other major abilities of the Titanoceratops are the resistance to all placed traps such as bear traps or spike walls, explosives placed on the ground also deal less damage to it. When the herd bonus is active the eyespots on it’s frill appear and light up similar to the plate change on the TLC Stego. The rider sits on a saddle latched onto the back of it’s frill allowing for a high vantage point across the battlefield (I’m still toying with the concept of adding a second rider on it’s back as a protective gunner). As for gathering it’s a fairly basic gatherer of wood, thatch, and berries but has a very high weight and health making it a good safe pack animal. The specific attacks are a horn swing that does a high amount of damage, a “stance change” that transitions it into it’s metal damaging mode, and a short ram attack that thrusts the animal forward for a high knock back attack good for pushing away enemies and damaging doors. Wild: Titanoceratops can be found around mountainous regions usually around high concentrations of metal either alone or in a small group, they are fairly peaceful unless provoked or attack similar to Dire Bears. They can easily contend with many of the region’s predators like rexes and sabertooths although they are ignored by most small predators. They will ignore you while wearing ghillie however they will become aggressive if approached too closely. In the wild they also cannot damage metal but can damage stone structures. Taming: In order to tame a Titanoceratops you need either a catapult or cannon to knock it out, likely on the back of a Paracer or placed in a trap. They’re not difficult to kite as they’re not very fast so that can be a good and less expensive option but for those looking for a trap they need to use metal structures, bear traps are ill advised as they essentially destroy them while walking over them and completely ignore it’s effects. As for taming food you will need Exceptional kibble or various crops and berries, they need a lot of food and Narcotic so pack a fair bit as this tame can wake up fairly quickly. Once tamed they will act as a beast of burden, a powerful siege beast and living battering ram, a counter to various large creatures including Gigas, and potentially a boss fighter. Weaknesses: While the Titanoceratops is exceptionally powerful it has it’s drawbacks, it can only fit through behemoth gates as it’s size is on par with a rex or mammoth. It’s particularly slow and while it can turn in place it still can’t out turn the faster mounts like raptors, in addition it’s a very slow swimmer and is not advisable to use around wet environments. It’s backside is also fairly unprotected, even with a saddle hitting it from behind will deal massive amounts of damage to it. It’s also very vulnerable from above and can be taken out by fliers with ease. The rider perched on the high saddle is vulnerable to being grabbed by fliers and to sniper fire, being a particularly easy target. It’s also fairly weak to fire weapons, flamethrowers, fire arrows, wyverns, and fire pitch catapults will deal lots of damage to the creature more so than others. Final Notes: I wanted the Titanoceratops to fill the niche other ceratopsians in Ark should have filled, Trikes and Pachyrhinos are particularly weak in game and it bothers me that such powerful animals are ignored in favor of carnivores. I wanted a ceratopsian that could defeat carnivores without breaking a sweat and being large powerhouses players would use late game. These animals in real life were strong enough to fight off tyrannosaurs and were true spectacles of both raw power and incredible diversity, they were truly the most impressive ornithischians to have existed. I also wanted to suggest a powerful and impressive creature that people would enjoy, something both striking and utterly massive. It was also a chance to flex my art skills at designing an Ark creature with both accurate anatomy and the signature Ark style. I have talked in the past about possibly applying for a job at Wildcard as a creature concept artist and wanted to prove to myself that I was able to design something both devs and players would enjoy, I do not think I will apply as I still have a lot of learning to do however this experience has been quite a trip and I am happy that I got to share my labor of love with this wonderful and creative community. I hope you all enjoy and if there’s any suggestions or ideas for this leave them down in the comments. OnFire944 made a short video with a size comparison between it and the other ceratopsians in game, it’s a really nice short video summary on some of this creature’s abilities. I highly recommend you check it out. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P_uziSb-umk&feature=youtu.be

  29. Yeah agreed, after "Wild Card" deleted my full gen 1 and gen 2 missions and refused to restore them. I decided it was time to quit the game and have been happily playing bug free games for months!!! I'm enjoying othewr games because that cant be deleted because other companies have backup contingencies and restore lost data. Wild Card staff are amongst the scummiest incompetent people on the planet. No care for customers, no care for customer data, very happy to let data get deleted and just close tickets. Thats the kind of scum Wild Card is.

  30. Look, idk who is running wildcard now, but I'm so tired of politics. We don't play video games to hear about politics. I play video games to get away from politics, because I'm tired of hearing it, it divides the country and creates hate. Now I don't care if individuals Express their views, but as a dinosaur video game company, leave the politics out if it. You wrote a big article about political views that has nothing to do with your game but no information that people want, like summer bash details. Get your head out of politics and back in the game. We don't wanna hear it. Also, in case you haven't realized, you have fans Ann's players on both sides if the subject, catering to one side is a terrible business move. And look at thr division you have caused with all the arguing amongst ppl in the comments. Shame on you #wildcard

  32. Thanks for chipping in on the reproductive rights dialog, Wildcard. It means a lot and the whiners make it really clear why it's important. To those whiners: Ark is made by people. People care about things. At a rate even higher than the already large majority of the US electorate that wants Federal protection of reproductive rights, people who make games and tech things in general want women's bodily autonomy respected. If that makes you uncomfortable and you don't want to support the game, that's fine and that's your choice — just as it's theirs to speak out. But while you're at it, be sure you aren't using a phone or the Internet, as Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and a great many others stand equally opposed to this appalling regression in women's rights (and erosion of due process that presages who knows how much more). You're quickly going to find a very scarce range of products to choose from as it turns out there aren't many people who think this is a good thing. And that's why it's important that Wildcard and everyone else do their parts to speak up. Silence is assent or at least a "no contest," and anyone with a voice needs to speak up before that's taken away, too.

  33. I honestly don't care how strong you feel about anything or that level of hysteria, nothing has really fundamentally changed other than that an overarching government has had their wings clipped in favor of state rights as it always should have been. You are a gaming company and I can guarantee you a large chunk of your customer base is on the other side politically to you, I find it interesting how willing you are to alienate them by overestimating your influence on any of your customers. I don't think more than a tiny fraction if that cares to know anything about your political leanings or affiliations. I don't care what the politics of my grocery store is or my utilities provider, my barber or any service provider including a company that makes a game I enjoy. I'm sure if a company started flaunting conservative views the "they can do what they want with their bla bla bla" guys would turn around faster than the speed of light.

  37. Last year you increased the amount of headstones/scarecrows/pumpkins you got from each spooky pile to a chance of 1-5. Why has that reverted to 1 per again? It took me 3+ hours to pick up enough junk to craft four chibis. And I got a doedicurus, a party rex, and 2 ankylosaurus. That's really sad. Can you possibly increase the amount of items you get from piles, and the % of getting a new halloween chibi, instead of all the old things us veteran players already have loads of

  41. We are excited for ARK 2 and have high hopes for it, but many wait with bated breath. Please read this for consideration and debate: I played ARK since release, after a few months my wife of 20+years who had always refused to play games was enticed by watching me play ARK, especially the taming and breeding. I turned her into a gamer using ARK as a steppingstone. She has played many different games now but still only has LOVE for ARK and we would grow old playing it... IF NOT FOR THIS: HEAR OUR PAIN.... As a husband-and-wife duo we have been daily marathon players for years straight and then casual players after returning from frustration quits. We finally quit for good, we still frequently get the urge, no the calling to come back, but knowing that nothing is different we don't even log on. It is utterly deflating to deal continually get wiped, eventually. Defending against big tribes, alpha tribes or even a motivated small tribe eventually it always ends in tragedy, especially when for whatever reason you're on someone's radar or hitlist; they will make it their goal in life to seek and eradicate you anywhere on the cluster. It is also deflating dealing with players/tribes/alphas who control artifacts or try to prevent "unauthorized" boss fights if you manage to fight your way to an artifact or find people to give access or trade artifacts. These game Nazis make it impossible for game progression even if your tribe survives. We are no strangers to the tricks of the trade, and we have tried many things: big tribes, small tribes, mature tribes, mods, offline raid protection, hiding like a rat, secret hidden start over stashes and even alphas over the years; we've been in long term tribes full of great people; but at some point, immaturity, defections, insiders, internal politics, toxicity and even real-life intra-tribe dating burns it to the ground and ends in soul-crushing tragedy with us standing on the beach naked with no possessions, not even the clothes on our backs. We got tired of spending months/years building bases, gear, dino breed lines etc. just to start over or to find a new cluster and start over. PVE gets boring quickly, PVP is lots of fun but not when it costs you everything, months of grinding and your sanity. So, we stopped playing, our kids loved it also but lost interest for the same reasons. We know many other people including other couples we talked into playing that feel the same way; others quit because they can't always log on due to work, vacations, families and life in general and continually lose everything due to decay. Obviously, lots of people love it how it is and that's great but include a game mode for those that find PVE boring and sick of PVP that becomes unplayable. PVP hard core players love to shut down the idea of a middle-ground game mode/type, citing things like the PVP player base will be diluted by adding another PVP game type. Legions of people quitting all together is way more devastating to the player base, especially considering the masses of casual PVP players that get ravaged and will never hang around long enough to gain experience, knowledge and skills. Surely the tracking numbers show the rate of attrition for PVP and the majority bailing on PVE after a moderate time period. Maybe it's a lot of whining and griping but these are realistic reasons the player base has shrunk and doesn't replenish. Servers are largely ghost towns, a timebomb to getting erased or toxic hell holes where even beach bobs get tormented. THIS POST MIGHT NOT GET MUCH AGREEMENT, BUT THATS BECAUSE THE LEGIONS THAT QUIT DON'T LOOK AT THE FORUMS ANYMORE We want to love ARK again! Give us the tools to love ARK 2! HIGH HOPES FOR ARK 2 HEAR OUR PLEA !!! A SIMPLE ADDITION Below are some suggestions that attempt to solve the problem of getting utterly wiped out due to the myriad of reasons listed, including unreasonable decay timers. Obviously decay timers are vital to unclutter the servers and other reasons but the repeated decay of possessions also causes casual players to quit. Some people just can't feasibly get on regularly enough due to work, family, vacation or the multitude of demands of life resulting in decay wipe of prized possessions. Losing structures is one thing but the valuable rarities and possessions is too time consuming to keep grinding and repeating. A SIMPLE ADDITION OF ONE OR A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING: * Our favorite; a community town where you could own an apartment or build a small personal house/property with limited crafting and storage. * A game mode similar to 'PVE conflict' in Conan Exiles. A base that can't be damaged. Or has very limited things or scenarios that damage. * One main base on one map in the cluster that can't be damaged, and all other structures are fair game. * A small safe area somewhere in your base that's un-wipeable * A bank for limited items that lasts a very long time (no decay) * A no fight/no grief zone where you could store a few of everything

  42. Please give this a read if you've EVER played PvP on PC servers... This is being typed by someone who has been a loyal and passionate player of the ARK games for years and years like most. Have been a part of multiple communities within the sphere of ARK including PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC including all Official, Unofficial, Offline, Single Player, Small Tribes, and even NoTame servers. For an overwhelming majority of the part, my friends and I have enjoyed ARK more than any other video game we have ever played. It's an incredibile game that has been sustainably upgraded throughout the years. Even the issue of duplicating items on Legacy servers was fixed mostly with the new servers rolling out a few years ago. My main point with this first section is to explain that we have been playing the game for a while. Where I see a major issue is with the PC gameplay on PvP servers. The issue of using .ini files to modify gameplay has completely ruined the game for a large majority of players and some don't even realize it. The .ini files people use to put into the game data remove rocks, bushes, trees, etc. sometimes entirely and some even go as far as removing the opacity of water entirely. Let me tell you about my experiences. When I played on PS4, which was most of my time initially, I had a blast. The game was fun, balanced, and was genuinely a fun activity to plan on having available after work. I could get on with my buddy (this was right when wingsuits were released) and we could fly around The Island and stand a chance against larger tribes because we could hide in the forest. Being able to see someone hiding within a bunch of shrubbery, bushes, etc. is a feature that should entirely be available to users in the late-game process. Tek, Bloodstalkers and other methods should 100% be available to do so. Here is where I see a major issue. When I made the joyous swap to PC, I was super excited to experience ARK on a better scale. Better inventory management with mouse/keyboard, better graphics, and better FPS. But when my friends and I swapped over to PvP servers, the issue of these .ini files have arisen. We would have players with Wyverns, etc. able to see us immediately because the only thing they would see on their end is a tree trunk. They would not see bushes, tree branches and leaves, or rocks. The use of these files is widespread and gives serious advantages to players. They ruin the experience for players who want to have a balanced, PvP-oriented experience because it becomes an issue of either use the files and experience a lifeless, almost MS paint-like version of ARK just to win fights, or keep the settings the same to maintain the graphical beauty of the game. MAIN POINT: I would like to place a formal suggestion to completely remove the use of .ini files in ARK II. As stated above, they ruin the PvP gameplay experience for a lot of players. I would be happy to discuss this with whoever but I would ultimately like to be heard by Wildcard because this is an issue that affects every single person playing the PvP servers. PvE servers and the experience they provide is still top-notch in my opinion and a fantastic time both by yourself and with friends. The graphical beauty should be maintained and removing the .ini files would restore balance to the game in PvP environments and ensure that every player is on the same playing field. I hope this finds everyone well. Edit: After talking to someone on Discord, apparently this is an issue on Xbox servers as well. Even more the reason to have this talked about.

  44. Greetings Survivors! With the Studio’s focus on the development of ARK 2 and the recent launch of Fjordur, the team has been very focused on making that as awesome as we possibly can. Unfortunately that means we haven’t been able to do a traditional Summer Bash event. We really appreciate all the support you’ve shown us over the years, and the heights that have been reached with our new arrivals so let’s celebrate summer with a special Summer Evo Event! Including all of your loved past Summer Bash colors plus 7 hand-picked new ones with a tropical vibe. Throw in special 3x rates on everything including breeding and the ability to get your hands on past Summer Bash items and we think we have a fun little celebration! We know you folks enjoy your event cosmetics so as has been our trend during this last year of events on ARK 1, we will continue to keep the associated cosmetics in the Hexagon Exchange once each event ends. So break out your shades and catch some rays in the 2022 Summer EVO event! 45. The existence of people is not "expressing views." The existence of LGBTQA+ people is not political. The existence of people who need abortions is not political. LGBTQA+ people, people who have had abortions, so on, so forth, have always existed, even if historians erase them in your sanitized schooling. The people who want to stomp these minorities out, hide them, or are "uncomfortable" with/"offended" by them are the ones who make it political. You are the one making this a problem. Why do people existing upset you? By the way, you might want to read the ARK Explorer Notes. They've supported all this "stuff" you "find offensive" since the beginning.

  47. So you logged into a game in which your character appeared from nowhere, the very first thing that you ever saw was the (TEK) implant in in your arm, when you looked up at the skyline you saw massive (TEK) towers hovering in the air with giant (TEK) beams of light reaching down to the ground, and the map was dotted with (TEK) supply drops that gave you supplies and equipment for no reason whatsoever. Then somehow you were surprised that TEK was the inevitable result of progression of a game just packed with (TEK) features from the very beginning. Umm... okey dokey.

  49. So, currently we have a max level of 180: 105 + 5 chibi + 10 explorer notes + 4x15 ascensions. Now, considering that with Genesis: Part 2 the final story DLC is out, its unlikely that we are going to get more from any new content, so I had an idea to get those final 20 levels without putting it in some of the Free DLCs. First, the ascension from Extinction is an oddball. It is the only ascension with no bonus levels at all. The King Titan doesn't even have any new Tekgrams, and its only unique drop, the Mega Mek, cannot even be used outside of his own fight. Giving him ascension levels gives us finally a reason to beat him. An additional 15 levels then puts us to 195. The final 5 levels? Well, we already get +10 levels from getting all explorer notes. How about a +5 levels from having tamed every creature? The creature dossiers already keep track of what you have tamed, so its already data the game keeps track of and thus people won't suddenly have to tame everything again and already have the means to see what creatures they are missing. This gives is then the final 5 levels to have a round max level of 200.
