  1. Now that’s the Snail games I know and love 🙄
  2. Fan of the ASA update, but I do believe there’s better options than Nitrado. Not that I think they’re bad, they’re just a little “meh” sometimes. I’ve ran a Nitrado server for several years now and fought with it almost daily. I’ve recently switched to g-portal and my server runs LIGHT YEARS better. Again, not hating, just saying that there were some arguably better choices.
  3. This has got to be one of the most pointless crunches ever. I mean come on, Wildcard. I get that you post every Friday, but at this rate, why even post anything? The release of ASA is two months away and the community still knows next to nothing about it. It’s incredibly frustrating. if you’re having trouble developing it that’s fine, but at least have the integrity to be transparent with your playerbase about it.
  4. I toyed with the nanny idea myself truthfully, but with the maewing and now the giga to raptor I just felt that niche was well filled within the game, and didn’t want to steal anyone’s thunder, though I’d imagine that would garner the support of the breeding community. Thank you for the suggestion!
  5. Exactly my line of thinking. Let me know if you have any suggestions, I’d be happy to hear them!
  6. NEANDERTHAL - Homo neanderthalensis DOSSIER - Common Name: Neanderthal Species: Homo neanderthalensis Time Period: Paleolithic Diet: Omnivorous Temperament: Aggressive Wild - Upon first look it may not be obvious, but these early hominids are not the stereotypical “dumb cavemen” that they have been made out to be. They live in small, sophisticated communities of 4 - 8 individuals. On rare occasions they have even been seen with tames of their own, though none larger than a raptor. They wield primitive stone tools, live in stone or wood huts, wear simple hide clothing, and will attack seemingly without mercy if approached. Don’t mistake this for barbarism though, these beings evolved for survival in an unforgiving world, and have developed a relatively aggressive temperament as a result. The only way to pacify this aggression is to approach them unarmed, wearing only hide or cloth armor. Befriending - On closer inspection they can be easily divided into one of three distinct categories or “jobs” within their tribes, these being hunters, farmers, and shamans. They are open to trade with survivors they deem non-threatening, with each category offering different items in exchange for items that fit their respective profession. The items they desire as well as the items they are offering for trade are completely randomized, but will align with their set profession. For example: Hunters: In exchange for weapons or armor, the hunter will give you big game trophies, such as basilisk scales, giga hearts, etc. Farmers: In exchange for rare seed types, the farmer will give you rare seed types that you may not already possess, or that you need more of Shamans: In exchange for recipes, the shaman will supply you with medical brew or narcotics As you trade with an individual you will see an “Alliance Meter”, which fills as you complete trades with the neanderthal. After enough trades have been made with an individual neanderthal, you will be given the option to “Propose Alliance”. Should you choose to propose an alliance, the neanderthal will then either accept or deny this proposal. Should they deny it, the “Alliance Meter” resets, and you will have the opportunity to try to befriend them again through trading. Should they accept, they become a member of your tribe. Befriended - Once befriended they will follow you home and are able to fulfill different roles within your base, with each profession performing different tasks. Hunters: Can act as guards, or can accompany you on fighting/hunting trips, if supplied with weapons and armor. Farmers: If they are housed in your greenhouse they can monitor your crop plots, and if given both seeds and fertilizer, can plant your crops, and then harvest said crops Shamans: If placed near a cooking pot and a water source (well, water tap, etc.), will passively generate “Dino-Med Brew” (medical brew that you can give to your tames) Potential Spawning - Neanderthals would spawn in small “villages” consisting of 3-5 one-by-one stone or wood huts, 4-8 individuals, and, on rare occasions, 1-3 tamed dinos (nothing larger than a raptor). These villages would spawn in cold biomes, with a slightly lower chance to spawn in the taiga/redwood biomes as well. Notes - Both PvP and PvE applications have been considered when composing this entry, but please keep in mind that if selected, Wildcard will of course balance the neanderthals as they see fit, so there shouldn’t be any worries there.
  7. Great Idea! Looks really cool, and I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into it. Ark needs more fun, furry, and useful creatures like this. Hope it wins!
  8. Hello Survivors, here is my submission for the Aberration Creature Vote, I have typed all the necessary information here for easy reading, but if you prefer a more traditional approach I have also attached a sample dossier at the end of the post. Enjoy! Dossier: Common Name: Fringe-Limbed Tree Frog (Flying Frog) Species: Ecnomiohyla rabborum Time Period: Modern (Extinct) Diet: Carnivorous Temperament: Aggressive Wild: In my time amongst the crags, cliffs, and overhangs of Aberration, I have come across a much unusual creature. In appearance it is very similar to the old earth gliding tree frog, but if it was given a huge size boost and a much more voracious appetite. These cliff dwelling amphibians will eat anything they can get their mouth around, but they have an unusual way of doing it. Despite being agile, fast, and able to cover great distances through the air, these silent hunters prefer to wait in ambush. They use their sticky feet to cling to the underside of an overhang or the side of a cliff, and when potential prey walks by they use their long, whip-like tongue to grab them and reel them into their jaws, swallowing their prey whole. I've even heard tale of one being seen grappling a full-grown rex. Domestic: Should you or your tribemates be crazy enough to tame such a creature, you will find yourselves in the company of a very useful friend. Once tamed, they can use their tongue to grab enemies and their tames, bringing them in close so that you and your tribemates can make the final blow. They can also use this same attack to grab ahold of wild dinosaurs, bringing them in and holding them still so that they can be knocked out or killed. While they don't have much in the way of teeth, their saliva is acidic in nature, and will consistently injure the enemy or dino that is being held. Much like the rock drake that also calls this ARK home, they are capable of climbing any surface, and of gliding great distances using the webbing in their hands and feet. While they are not found in or around water, they are also superb swimmers, and are capable of utilizing this same grab attack even when submerged. Taming: These slimy critters understand one thing better than any creature I've encountered thus far: food. They are voracious eaters, and in order to befriend one, you'll have to feed it live dinosaurs that have been tamed by you or your tribe, but be careful not to end up as a meal yourself! Once full, it should be relatively familiar with your scent, and will descend from its perch to greet you. At this point you will be able to saddle it up and be on your way! Just be careful that the feeding process is not interrupted by any dinosaurs that haven't been tamed by you or your tribe, as this will only hinder the process. Abilities: - Tongue Grapple: Shoots target with tongue, grabbing them and reeling them into the frogs jaws - Tongue Slap: Instead of grappling, you can choose to have your frog simply slap the target - Acidic Saliva: Once grappled, the target is subject to consistent damage from the frog's saliva, as long as they are grappled. This saliva also melts weapons and armor. - Gliding: Can leap into the air and glide great distances - Climbing: Can climb vertically and upside-down - Rider Weaponry Allowed: Grapple a target with your frog's tongue attack, reel them in, and then attack with your own weapons! - Immune to Fall Damage - 360 Rider View Breeding: Like most amphibians, this creature needs to be in water for breeding, and the eggs must stay underwater throughout the entire incubation process. Once the egg hatches, the baby will be a tadpole, and will need to remain in the water until the juvenile stage, at which point they can be removed from the water and brought onto land to grow. Spawning: In the wild, the flying frog can be found clinging to the walls and cliffs of Aberration, waiting for an unsuspecting, yet tasty, snack. Notes: This creature has wonderful PvP and PvE applications. It has armor melting saliva, great mobility, the ability to grapple both players and tames larger than itself (up to Rex size), it can swim, glide through the air, or simply hop along the ground. The player can use weapons, see in 360 degrees when stationary, and even park their frog for safekeeping on a cliff or a wall before dismounting, if they so choose.
  9. But I bet you’ll still play the game, right? I understand wildcard’s track record is shotty, at best, but if all everyone is going to do is just sh*t on everything they say, then what’s the point? Would it kill anyone in these comments to say literally anything positive? Nearly everyone here just sounds like spoiled children.
  10. While I can’t say I’m thrilled about the delay, I don’t see it as a bad thing. I’d much rather have a delayed, but better game, than a rushed pile of trash. Keep up the good work, Wildcard, and don’t listen to the haters.
