  1. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! The Great Migration As a reminder, tomorrow we are removing some of our lower population legacy ARK servers on PC, Xbox, and PS4 from our Official Legacy network. These servers will begin to go offline permanently at 11AMPST/1PM EST. See below for a list of affected servers: How To Move Servers If you are unfamiliar with the process, you are able to upload your items, creatures, and player through the Obelisk terminal, supply drops, as well as the Tek Transmitter. Survivors are advised to use Cross-ARK immediately to relocate their belongings onto a server that is not included in our take-down list above. Server Saves of Deleted Servers We will make the save files available as soon as we can. We will host the PC files which anyone can download and then you are welcome to re-host the save file for your own use. We'll include a link to where you can download server saves in this post when they are available. Nitrado will also be able to provide the saves for use on Nitrado servers for console, as they have done in the past. We're Going Live! On Monday, June 17th, we'll be going live at 3:00 PM PST on Twitch to discuss a few things in store for the future. Tune in to get a "pizza" what's coming up. You don't want to miss out! Mod Contest News A quick reminder that the mod contest is still open for submissions. You have until 6/29 to enter your submission before voting begins. At the end of the contest, there will be a raffle held for each category. Voting gets you a chance to win an ARK: Collectors Edition box set that has been signed by members of the development team! Social Roundup The Social Roundup is geared to showing you some of the social activity you might be otherwise missing. Here we will highlight some of the posts that happened on our various social platforms. Topics might range from existing bugs to questions about events or future content. 5. It's that time of year again, ARK: Survival Evolved is celebrating it's 4th birthday today! It's been FOUR YEARS since we first entered into Early Access on Steam. Hard to believe it's been that long, isn't it? From humble beginnings waking up naked on the beach to saving planet Earth from giant roaming Titans, it feels like we have done it all. And we have loved each and every moment of development, meeting you at events, hosting streams, and watching your content. Thank you so much for all the support you've shown us over the last 4 years. The past year has been a busy one for us. With the help of our vibrant community, we have been able to achieve quite a lot! Today we're taking a look back on all that's happened in the world of ARK in the last year. Things started out strong with the release of ARK on mobile! For the first time survivors were able to hold ARK in their hands and play on-the-go. If you haven't tried ARK on mobile, you can check it out for iOS and Android. Later in June we launched our ARKaeology event, where survivors were greeted with new stunning dinosaur skins and dig sites to unearth dinosaur bones and goodies. With the announcement of our third expansion pack ARK: Extinction coming later in the year, June was also the first edition of the Extinction Chronicles which included the TEK Rex as well as the first piece of corrupted armor. July, August, September brought with it a new TEK dinosaur each month, and one piece of the corrupted armor for survivors to collect. Our modding contest was launched in September, awarding big cash prizes to support our talented ARK modders. October was the final Extinction Chronicles that brought with it the TEK Quetzal and the final piece of corrupted armor to complete the five piece set. In October we participated in TwitchCon and gave influences a sneak peek at the Extinction orbital supply drop game mode. It was the first time survivors were able to get their hands on anything to do with the expansion pack. In November we participated once again in the Extra Life campaign raising money for sick kids charities. Together we raised $76,000+ over the course of our 25 hour live stream on Twitch. On November 6th ARK's third expansion pack ARK: Extinction became available for players to experience! New titans and bizarre element-infused creatures roam the desolate planet Earth and gave players a totally new experience unlike anything before. At the end of November, ARK became available on the Nintendo Switch! December borught the holiday season and with it, the return of Raptor Claus who had a new guest along with him this year: Gacha Claus! Romance was in the air during February with our cheeky Valentine's Day event. In March of this year we were finally able to get the kibble rework and Structures Plus into the hands of players under the name ARK: Homestead. April brought with it the return of Eggcellent Adventure, an event in which players must collect eggs to decorate and craft skins and holiday themed items. In May we announced our most recent mod contest, which just opened for entries! If you're a modder, definitely check out the mod contest and you could possibly win big cash prizes! Last but not least, Snail Games’ open world, voxel-based sandbox survival game PixARK launched for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One & Xbox One X, and PC on Steam this May! Thank You! On behalf of everyone here at Studio Wildcard, thank you for joining us on this journey and for being an awesome member of our tribe! We don't plan on slowing down any time soon, and the year ahead is shaping up to be another great year for ARK. We hope you join us. Keep on surviving!

  7. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! The Great Migration! Once again it is time to remove some of our lower population legacy ARK servers on PC, Xbox, and PS4 from our Official legacy network. Over time the ARK population has migrated from legacy to non-legacy and in its wake left many servers with low populations. Here is a quick breakdown on how this process works: Taking Down Low Pop Servers With calculations based on sustained player-count as well as popularity of game mode we will be removing lower population legacy servers, most of which retain a 0-4 player concurrent population. These servers will be taken offline on June 11th. Any existing server that is not considered a low pop server and is not taken down at this time will still exist on the Legacy network. Legacy servers will continue to remain on a separate cluster from the new cluster, which means you will not be able to transfer anything between Legacy servers and the new servers. Servers Up for Deletion Below is a complete list of the LEGACY servers that will be deleted come June 11th. You have from now until then to move your belongings onto a server not present on this list. Please click one of the links below. They are separated by platform (PC, Xbox, and PS4). How To Move Servers If you are unfamiliar with the process, you are able to upload your items, creatures, and player through the Obelisk terminal, supply drops, as well as the Tek Transmitter. Survivors are advised to use Cross-ARK immediately to relocate their belongings onto a server that is not included in our take-down list above. 9. We said we would have some more news for you about the mod contest this month, and that time is now! I'm happy to introduce you to our new Contest section of the website: https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/contests/ If we're holding any big contests, you will probably find them right here going forward! Now specific to the mod contest, if you happened to see it all those months ago, there was quite a bit of discussion that occurred during the last one about the process and how it could be done better. We already mentioned that we've split the contest into two categories this time, "Mods" and "Maps". In addition, we have also restructured the way voting will work. The contest will operate in a series of phases: Entry Phase: Get your mods in, this phase will last for four weeks. Preliminaries: Members of the development team will evaluate mods during this phase, it will be internal voting only during this. We will be selecting 10 mods (For each category) to go through to the finals. This phase will last for two weeks. Spotlight Phase: After we have selected the finalists we will then do video spotlights of them to show them off and let everyone know what they will be voting on. This phase will last for one week. Finals: This is the big moment. This will be a public-only vote. Studio Wildcard will not be evaluating finalists or be involved with the scoring during this phase, and the winner will be selected solely by the public. This phase will last for one week. There are two $10,000 grand prizes, one for each category, mod authors can only enter one category. In addition, we've also prepared some prizes for voters. At the end of the contest, there will be a raffle held for each category. Voting gets you a chance to win an ARK: Collectors Edition box set that has been signed by members of the development team! Now let's talk a little about how to enter. On May 31st, both categories will start to show a button for entering. Make sure you pay attention to which category you enter, you will not be able to enter both! When you enter you will be prompted to do a secure sign-in with your steam account. We will then validate with mods you have published and you will be able to select it from the drop-down on the entry form. Your mod must be publicly available for players. After selecting your mod for entry, you will be able to write up all the information you can for it. You can embed spotlight videos, images, links to information about the mod (make sure it's clean or your mod may get disqualified). This information will be visible to players. This is your opportunity to try and get players interested in your mods, make it good and make sure you take great care in preparing. You will not be able to edit your entry information after you submit it. The system will then generate a page just for your mod! We look forward to a fun and exciting competition. Happy Modding!

  11. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! Decay Timers Return Tomorrow! A little repost from last week, now with accurate timing! Over a month ago we announced we were temporarily disabling our decay timer on our official servers. This was done in order to allow for our customer support to successfully reunite players with their tribes, bases, and tamed creatures after an issue caused some players characters to be deleted. Our customer support has been able to address many of these concerns that were as a result of the incident last month, and therefore we are re-enabling the decay timer tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21st. A note for those who have not logged in recently, if a structure on your server is over the timer limit it will automatically be removed when the servers restart with this change enabled. Therefore any spam structures will be cleaned from your server immediately. If you have refreshed your base in the last ~8 days (more/less depending on structure type), your structures will be safe just as they were before the decay was disabled. We look forward to having our servers cleaned up tomorrow. Our servers may take a little longer to boot up (especially on popular PVE servers) with this enabled so we appreciate your patience during tomorrows server deployment. Social Roundup! The Social Roundup is geared to showing you some of the social activity you might be otherwise missing. Here we will highlight some of the posts that happened on our various social platforms. Topics might range from existing bugs to questions about events or future content. ON MESHING: There has been quite a bit of discussion on social regarding meshing since our last console update where our improved mesh detection was added. We want to acknowledge that the immediate results have not been as impactful as our players have expected, but we want to assure everyone that this is something we are actively working on on a consistent and daily basis. Going forward we believe console players (and all players) will see more positive action taking place, as we continue to expend resources on decreasing the meshing problems. We want to also extend a thank you for your patience with us. We have made great strides in reducing the problem, but there is still more work to be done. ON ARKPOCALYPSE: From Wildcard Panda: In case you're not aware, our ARKpocalypse servers are a special set of servers that wipe on a monthly basis. You can join a freshly wiped server in just a few more days if you're interested in a faster pace environment without the threat of establish alpha tribes. Just search for ARKpocalypse in your server browser! Evolution Event! Survivors on all platforms will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! It will be active from Friday the 24th of May at 1 PM EST until Monday the 27th of May at 3 PM EST. 13. Update Concerning XBOX Servers CrossARK-1, 895, and 906 Unfortunately, we have some news to share with survivors on EU-PVP-ScorchedEarth-CrossArk1, EU-PVP-XboxOfficial-ScorchedEarth895, EU-PVE-XboxOfficial-Aberration906. The machine housing these servers experienced a critical hardware failure. This means that the most recent save data on this machine was lost. We do however have server backups from earlier in the week, and we will be restoring these servers to Tuesday, May 13, 2019. Any progress that was made after that date has unfortunately been lost. 14. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! Decay Timers Being Reinstated! Just over a month ago we announced we were temporarily disabling our decay timer on our official servers. This was done in order to allow for our customer support to successfully reunite players with their tribes, bases, and tamed creatures after an issue caused some players characters to be deleted. Our customer support has been able to address many of these concerns that were as a result of the incident last month, and therefore we are re-enabling the decay timer Tuesday, May 21st. A note for those who have not logged in recently, if a structure on your server is over the timer limit it will automatically be removed when the servers restart with this change enabled. Therefore any spam structures will be cleaned from your server immediately. If you have refreshed your base in the last ~8 days (more/less depending on structure type), your structures will be safe just as they were before the decay was enabled. We've read your comments and tweets about wanting decay to be re-enabled and we do appreciate your patience with us during this time. Social Roundup! The Social Roundup is geared to showing you some of the social activity you might be otherwise missing. Here we will highlight some of the posts that happened on our various social platforms. Topics might range from existing bugs to questions about events or future content. ON MODS ON CONSOLE: When it comes to talking about mods on console this is a very hot-button topic. We know it stinks to see cool mods being developed by mod makers on PC but not being able to utilize them on Xbox or PS4. There are rare cases where mods are successfully integrated into the game such as Primitive Plus, Ragnarok, and Structures Plus, but not every mod that goes through the Sponsored Mod Program is guaranteed or even likely to be integrated into the game. It is a very lengthy process to get something from a working state into a finished product! ON SPECIALIZATION OF DEVS: ON CHAT MODERATION: ON THE SUGGESTIONS FORUM: ON EXTRA LIFE: Evolution Event! Survivors on all platforms will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! It will be active from Friday the 17th of May at 1 PM EST until Monday the 20th of May at 3 PM EST. All Official Servers across each platform will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes: 2x Harvesting Rates 2x Taming Rates 2x EXP Rates That's it for this post!
