  1. (official, Valguero) Fed the dinos. Made some kibble. Went to the swamp for a bary. Highest level was 90, and it was a female. Had to tame her for the lack of other options. She isn't deserving of the saddle I can craft from my 60 armor BP, though, so she'll just stay podded until I get a good level male, and then she'll be laying eggs until something nice hatches. (official, Crystal Isles) Official wiki says Cr. Wyvern gotta be lvl 20 or lower to be tamed with regular crystal. Only tamed them during 4X taming, so decided to check if true for non-event. Found lvl 145 Tropical male. FAAAAALSE! 72.9% already, no progress decrease, I think I'll name him Mojito. He's tamed. Took a while, but not too long. Effectiveness wasn't too bad, 195 post-tame. (official, Valguero again) Grabbed Mojito with my main character because I have no use for high-level wyv on Crystal Isles. Tamed a 135 male parasaur that I found stuck in my gate. Took Mojito, kibble, rifle, tranq darts and narcotics and went to the swamp to find a male bary for breeding. Found a level 135. Just tamed him, as perfectly as possible. Named him Adam. Gonna breed him to the female what's-her-name right after I bring him to my base. Holy raptors! 3 tek rex eggs just hatched, 1 of the males got a second melee mutation! Wrong health, tho, so I took one of other hatchlings, a female, who inherited the right health, to raise them together and get a new, 9900 H 372 M breeding male. 5 more eggs hatched, no mutations. 1 more (accidental, forgot to turn mating off), and after that no more tek rex breeding until the current pair is grown. Bary egg hatched female, father's melee and stripe color, which is great. Giga egg hatched, colors and melee right, but female.

  2. *sigh* Thank God for fanarts or else those Community Crunches could look VERY empty... EDIT : I'm so tired of being teased about upcoming things in tweets ("there's a lot coming ! promise !") and every week seeing THIS in Community Crunches. Even if you have nothing to announce, here are a few ideas that could make CCs meatier : - a recap of the most important tweets posted by the WildCard team in the past week - a recap of videos posted by Ark Youtubers in the past week. Or some clips from Ark streamers of the past week. I'm sure they'd be happy to send them to Cedric for promotional purposes. I remember that used to happen along with Fanart Fridays, no ? - any recap of what was accomplished during the past week. How many tickets solved ? Or how many technical issues intervened on ? - you know, I have not even seen Community Crunches being used to link articles/reviews about the Crystal Isles release (or any DLC before it)... it'd be so easy to give people more stuff to read when it's other people writing it Free content right there, just compile links for them. Crystal Isles was just released on console, I'm sure some outlets are going to report on that, no ? - a handful of suggestions from the suggestions forums, that are already popular and/or of interest to WildCard, so that people can see if they support the idea and vote for it even more (assuming some of those suggestions will lead somewhere... because they do, right ?) - behind-the-scenes content about stuff already in the game. "Here are some designs we went through while coming up with the Tropeo" / "An interview with ISO on what it meant for her map to become official" / "Our sound designer explaining how dino sounds are made"... just use one CC to ask people for ideas and actually follow up on some of the most doable suggestions [sidenote : record. Genesis2. Behind-the-scenes. stuff. now... you'll use it to fill Crunches later] - a written Q&A with one member of the WildCard team. Each week people ask a lot of questions in the comments of the Community Crunches, why not select some of the ones you're most comfortable with, and have someone reply to a handful of them ? - an update on the mods that are/were part of the Sponsored Mod program. What is their progress now, several months later ? What is their roadmap ? Do they have new projects instead ? (I remember a time when Zen Rowe was interviewing mod devs about their work). - in general, why not have someone report on the newest and/or most popular mods on the Workshop ? New mods appear pretty much every week, but also, there are popular mods with very frequent update that could get some spotlight. Almost all the mod devs have discords where they post previews of upcoming work, too. It's a dynamic part of the community, it's related to the game... really, the mod monitoring writes itself, it just needs to be reported on in Crunches some way or another. Do SOMETHING with it. None of this requires to discuss content "in the works", by the way. But at least it'd feel informative and/or constructive. It'd feel like something is happening, instead of stalling until what is coming actually comes. It's ACTUAL content instead of a filler. I do agree it's more work (and more planning ahead, like remembering to record stuff during the development phase of some DLC) than the current Community Crunches, though. Also one project I really could see being carried through these Community Crunches would be asking people to suggest tips, in order to update the tips on the game's loading screen (I think we all "remember to eat" at this point). That would feel productive imho. Partner with Dododex' admin for this if you need help on the project, IDK ? I'll also add that I remember filling a poll posted by Cedric a while ago, and I don't remember reading about the feedback, anyone has a link to that ?

  4. I'd wager the implant was probably step 1 for ascending. Chances are good that the implant was used as a common tool among humans in the tek era, for all the good and bad that a device that like can do. Either that, or it was only used by a few people and was just made standard for the Ark Survivor program.

  5. I found out that you get carbon from oil nodes on Primitive Plus. Then found out you can convert that to steel in the forge when mixed with iron. Very cool. Used that to make a steel safe. Even cooler. Searched the beach areas for a few utility dinos. Saw some low level ankys. Passed them up. I also saw a 135 bronto and a 150 trike... very tempting but passed them up too. I realized that I was tight on time this morning before going to work and didn't want to start something I couldn't finish. Went home and worked on the house. Added a second level and I think I might put my garden on the roof. It helps to keep my overall footprint on the area a little smaller. Made a cooking station and put it on the porch since it looks like a outdoor BBQ. Grilled some steaks and chicken ? Took the cat (still my only tame) out for a little exercise and levels.

  7. Yea, it would be an uneasy alliance to say the least, but the cat's out of the bag and he obviously didn't want to leave the Sim yet so he might just go for it That's something I hadn't considered. Rockwell could have corrupted someone else and that's why it looks so different. That would make sense. However, I get the feeling that it would still follow a general pattern with Rockwell, like how all Corrupted things on Earth followed a general visually similar appearance. Yea, that prism... Well, I'm not really sure what to make of it. It glowed like the sun according to the notes, so I'd expect a bright orange color or similar, but we haven't seen anything like that besides the normal artifacts which obviously are not the same thing. Its purpose seems to clearly be to prep someone for ascension to Deus, but that's really all we know.

  8. 1) The Overseer is the AI that maintains the entire system of any given Ark, and how it all works together. I think it would be more correct to say that the Observation Deck is what holds up the forcefield. When Diana and friends bombed the Deck, the forcefield went with it, which allowed the sun to destroy the surface after. Meanwhile, we can see that on Earth, the obelisks hold the task of both maintaining the environment and stopping the Corruption (lore wise) from getting in. Quite frankly, I'd wager that the obelisks are much more versatile than just one single purpose, I'd guess that they served as a sort of central point of a given city or so (like the Sanctuary) and were also used as a way to maintain an environment in an area and many other purposes, and teleporting is just one of many. They create a network between eachother and have all the uses that come with it. Helena Deus describes the Obelisks as a 'source of power.' I think it's most correct to say that their main purpose is to be a central point of an area. 2) We know that AP is connected to the CS (colony ship) because AP is connected to the GenSim (Helena Deus had to go to Arat Prime to access the GenSim) which is connected to the CS, so at the very least, AP is indirectly connected to the CS and if you want to get to the CS then AP is where you need to go. As for the unstable life, I'd guess that refers just generally to the element-adapted and Corruption that exists on the planet, or maybe even us, but definitely not to normal humans.

  9. It's my opinion that the Arks were the colony ship that was supposed to return to Earth. They held a massive population by way of cloning and were capable of removing the element, there's no need to have a second colony ship return to Earth, so I theorize that the colony ship we're on is a backup plan in case the Arks don't/can't cleans the Earth properly and thus is headed to some other unknown (to us) destination. Further, the name 'colony ship' kinda implies that it's not supposed to be at home. Unrelated to that, but... I can't stop thinking about how Rockwell, upon being defeated in the Genesis Simulation, says "Defeat me here, and you doom youself Survivor, wait till I find you... In the world beyond" Now, at first glance he just seems to be threatening us, but... I think this could also be a more serious warning. Why do I say this? Well, he says 'wait till I find you'... The 'wait' implies that he isn't going to instantly be there like what grabbed us. Next... I want you to take a close look at the tentacle in the end cutscene and compare it to Rockwell's tentacles. Take a close look. Take a closer look. They are 0% similar. Their only comparison is that they're both tentacles. Now sure, Rockwell could have designed some completely new tentacles for some strange reason, but don't you think he'd use something similar? Rockwell's tentacles had a clear pattern in their design, while the one that grabs us is much more random and has no pattern at all... Similar to normal Corruption... I don't think I need to say it outright, but I think that we were attacked the same Corruption that hit Earth, NOT Rockwell. Now, the Corruption followed us out of the Simulation. We can reasonably assume then, that if it only left when we did, it had to wait for us to leave for it to. In other words, the Corruption was trapped in the Simulation with us and Rockwell. In other words, so long as no one left, we had all the time we needed to destroy the Corruption in the Sim. Rockwell could have been exterminating all traces of Corruption as we were surviving (or dying) in the Sim, however, one particular part of the Simulation chose to hide itself from Rockwell, and that left a pocket for the Corruption to survive: In the code of the Moeder. By leaving when we did, we allowed the Corruption to follow us out before Rockwell could finish exterminating it. Rockwell is also building an army in the Simulation built to survive absurd levels of hazards, why would he need such an army if it's just him and the colony ship and his minions? He wouldn't. He would just take over everyone and call it a day if that was his plan. He would leave the Sim and evolve his humans while he takes over the ship, not wait, he wouldn't wait for no reason. Meanwhile, Rockwell still has business in the GenSim, so he'll still be doing work in there while we're out and about. That doesn't necessarily mean that he won't also be working around outside of the Simulation as well though. This theory has its basis in two main aspects: 1) The tentacle that grabs us follows a visual theme closer to Corruption than Rockwell 2) Rockwell needs an army prepared for extreme circumstances before leaving the sim Now then, why did he say 'wait till I find you' if it wasn't a threat? The Corruption is clearly a threat to him, and he wants it gone. We also want the Corruption gone. He could very well have been hinting that he plans on finding us so we could, as a '''team,''' fight the Corruption off. Now, this is mostly speculation, and hinges largely on the fact that what grabs us does not at all look like Rockwell, who, as we know, can change his appearance, but regardless, the fact that he needs an army before leaving the sim implies that there is some dangerous enemy that will attack him if he gets in the colony ship so this explains both parts, but it could also be very wrong, so I'm not going 100% on this theory (yet.)

  10. Yea, it says Helena and Mei will return... But what about Diana? It does seem like something happened to her I'd argue the part about that being the obelisks' main purpose... Their main purpose is to maintain an environment. Teleporting is more of a secondary feature, at least for the ones on Earth. It's possible that on the Arks they're primarily for teleportation and the giant overseer deck maintains the environment, we don't know a whole lot about that. Keep in mind though that even the city terminals can teleport things and they are much, much smaller than obelisks, so if the primary purpose of obelisks was to teleport stuff, I think we could expect to see much smaller things, and then we also have the player craftable teleporters too. But anyway, it's a good idea. One that I overlooked too, it does clearly and obviously activate right at the end. That could be a point where he physically left Aberration (or what's left of it) for the colony ship. Supposedly he would have to get to Arat Prime to reach the GenSim and the colony ship, so most likely he used the new obelisk network set up by the fallen Arks to go straight to AP and enter the sim. Or maybe he didn't leave and his main body is still on Aberration and what we're seeing is just an extension of him (in the same way that the Corrupted were an extension of the King Titan.) Either way, I think you're right and that's the exact moment Rockwell moved out of Aberration and onto his next step. I think the implication is that all the humans were teleported to Arat Prime (or some other similar locations, but we only know of one) and sent out to the colony ship (or multiple colony ships?) before Arat Prime was locked down. Arat Prime could even have launched the colony ships. The unconfirmed launch we saw messages about in Extinction could either be referring to a second colony ship that didn't launch, or could even just be that the launch was unconfirmed because AP wasn't sending data out anymore since it locked down.

  11. Also, back to the city OBs- Maybe these things had the functionality to teleport the remaining humans on Earth to a remote location we know NOTHING about? Another planet? Are they walking among us in the ARKs themselves? Have they all ascended? Genesis hype my guys and gals!

  12. Also I find it interesting that there are obelisks in Extinction. The main purpose of an obelisk is to teleport one thing, living or inanimate to another. SPECIFICALLY to a boss arena or another ARK, or Earth itself. The ones in the city and proto-ARKs were dismissed as prototypes by "Helena Dues"- but this doesn't mean that they don't have a functionality beyond our knowing. MY bet is that's how Rockwell got into the space station. One of the obelisks from AB were showed being powered up in the secret ending, and it wasn't subtle either- the devs specifically WANTED us to see that detail. Rockwell could've easily slipped out of his Overseer pit after his ARK crashed, and TP'd himself into the passing colony ship.

  13. Hello again, most of the time I was still grinding (didn't get to play much). Expanded my house a little and other stuff. Eventually I found another Therezino walking about the meadows more or less close to my taming pen and to my amazement found it was already level 120. That's the highest Therezino I have seen in this game so far. So my old and trusty Ptera was my vehicle of choice and I eventually lured him into my taming pen. Need more practice with that, btw, but I did it. Thought everything would be easy from there. Landed in short, but not close distance, set the Ptera to neutral and took a decent stand to shoot the Therezino. So far, so good. It was when I reloaded for my second shot, that the Ptera shot forward at the Therezino and attacked. Stupid little thing. I whistled about every tune I could think of (well, it's been a stressful situation), but alas... the Therezino made quick work of that silly Ptera. I was sad. I grew to like it. Had taken the trio out for several resource grinds and they had proven kind of reliable. Now it's no trio anymore. Just two leftovers. Well, first of all I finished taming the Therezino up and I'm quite happy with what I got there. Then I wondered what I should do about the lost Ptera. Going on resource-grinds with just two Ptera was kind of pointless, since one would have to carry me and the other wouldn't be enough to make the grind worthwhile. Even with the trio I had found the carrying capacity lacking. So I scouted the area some, but didn't find any decent level Ptera. So I gave up on that topic and came back to my long-term-goal. Get an Argy. Finally. After all, most of the grinds I had done were aimed towards that goal. So I crafted up a gateway and set of towards the volcano, keeping west of the redwood. In between I had thought that the mountain in the middle of the redwood might be a nice hunting-area for Argys, too, but I was scared flying over the redwood then. So I made my way to the volcano. Took a while and I had a bunch of nice views on the trip, but overall nothing really eventful happened. Spend the night inside the volcano, since it became too cold outside. Spotted a delicate construction at the bottom of the volcano, that was definitely made by some intelligent being, but I was too scared to get close. Also took the opportunity to mine some of the rare stuff you can find there, but had to be careful. After all, my Ptera would have to carry me and kite an Argy to my yet to be set trap. Also falling down into the volcano seemed like certain doom to me. At dawn I set out to inspect the Argys of the area and set up my trap. After a while I spotted a level 120 Argy and decided I'd settle for that. It seemed that the bunch of them was between level 6 and 30 and I wasn't happy with those. Even tried to kill one of them and did so with ease. So ... not appealing. But the "c"-attack is something to be remembered. Quite nice. So I set up the trap... after putting up the gateway I had to gather some thatch and wood and was surprised how far I had to travel to get that. Coming back, I had a hard time to find the gateway, but did after a while of fruitless searching. I wish I could have set a flag or something to make that part easier. Then I set out to get my Argy. I couldn't find it. The one I was aiming for was nowhere to be found. After some searching I spotted a level 102 and took that as an alternative to spend the whole day seeking. I started kiting it towards the trap. Lost it, turned around and started kiting again. Lost it again. Those Argys really aren't very persistent when it comes to chasing prey. I wish everything was that easy to shake off. Next attempt I really lost the Argy - it took off and my stamina was all out and I had to rest. When I was ready to go again, I could not find it. And most of all, I couldn't find my trap. So I took a tour around the volcano, searching for my trap. It felt like searching a needle in a haystack, since that volcano becomes really big when you get close. Had to spend another night inside the volcano. Getting out next dawn, I could find the same tracks I had used the other day and promptly found my trap again. So that was covered. I immediately set out to scout for a decent Argy, but the situation was even worse than before. Best I could find was a lvl 72 Argy. Disappointing! But leaving without an Argy really wasn't an option. After all, that trap shouldn't have been set for nothing. So I started to lure him towards the trap. Lost him just as the day before, but I dared more allowing it to enter the screen several times and it worked much better. It was tough to find the trap again, but I managed that, too. Got it in and got out as planned. So that worked. Now close the gate. Well... I was silly about that. Too excited about my catch to mind my steps. So it flew out again when I closed the gate. I immediately mounted the Ptera and set out after it. It didn't go far - seems it was a bit annoyed by the two of us. I'm glad it was - and it right then got stuck just behind my trap, where the landscape narrows to a small path. And then it glitched back into my trap with gates already closed. Eventually the game was working FOR me??? Took me a moment to comprehend, but from there on everything went easy. Used the taming time to gather some resources and throw them straight into the inventory of the Argy. The carrying capacity is rather poor with 500 after taming, but that's still better than any of my Pteras can do. Well, I'll have to get out and get a better Argy, soon, but it's a start. And now I've done it at least once. Maybe I could even re-use the trap. Who knows. For my route back home I decided to fly to redwood-mountain instead of the longer path I had come. Spotted a bunch of Argys over there and checked them out. Oh my... the perfect (!!!) Argy, right there. Ofcourse... after I had tamed one. Now I saw a level 192 right there and had no trap available to get it. The way to the volcano was far too long to try. Just made a mental note to come back soon. Ok, so the game was not working FOR me. Kind of soothing. Nothing has changed. I'll spare you the rest of my sillyness. We got home safe and sound and ready to work from there. Ttys Eleusius.

  16. Morning @Elgar We use it in a very similar way - using the sort options of the detail grid to determine what our next target is based on the highest melee/hp/stamina. I currently have no plans to extend and include such "wishlist" functionality as it's easy enough to look for what we want manually however I believe this sort of functionality is available in ARK Smart Breeding application - I'm not getting a lot of time recently but the next thing I'll be working on in ARK Viewer is a way to export only selected data into json files to give to server users to use without having to have access to the entire .ark, .arktribe, .arkprofile files directly.

  17. it's been a few days since I joined the PVE Primitive Plus server. So far, I like it. TBH I love all different crafting engrams. I still don't know how to use many of them yet, but I will get there. So, after I finally found a piece of land to call home, I put down a few foundations nestled in some rocks on the west coast to hold a few basic items. However, I didn't want to start building right away in fear that there could be a better spot around the bend so I made a raft. And I made it with a taming pen up front and a small workshop/living space in back. Then I set sail. I traveled down the west coast and across the bottom of the map. I went around herbivore island and up the east coast to the swamp. Most of the land along the coast seemed to be taken but it was not as bad as I have seen in other online videos There were still a few open areas. I tried to tame a couple pteras along the way but ran into many new-guy issues, like not having enough tranq arrows, or narcotics, or meat, or getting harassed so badly by seagulls and dilos that I just couldn't stay any longer. Anyway, I made it home without any new friends, recovered, collected more supplies and headed north. I found a level 100 saber cat just before the sand turns to ice and lured him into my mobile taming pen easily enough using myself as bait. This time I pulled away from the beach to open water and finished the tame with regular raw meat. Wish I had prime! Anyway, I have a saber now and it is making my life a little easier. Went home, realized I probably won't find a better spot and built a dock for my boat because I can and I think it looks better than parking on the beach. Now I have started working on the house. It will be much more modest in size than my neighbors since I am just catering to myself for now and not a tribe. I also have no intention of surrounding my area with a huge behemoth gate system. I prefer the open house concept. I have nothing to hide. And hopefully others will be more inclined to stop by and say hello. The lumber mill is new to me and I'm enjoying the look of lumber. Nice change of pace, better (stronger) than regular wood and not as clunky as stone. I have changed the design layout a couple times as I am trying to be conscious of the impact it will have to my surrounding area. I am trying to work with the rocks around me and not just demolishing them to make a clear space. I have taken the cat out a few times. He is not a breeder but will work great as a house cat to gather meat and hide, and scare away all the little critters. Keeping my eyes open for a beaver, anky, and doedi of a good level to help with the grunt work around the house. I have never liked trikes and parasaurs (spelling?) and don't want to just start taming a bunch of animals I don't want. They cost time and resources. Sure, I might be able to use them a little, but mostly they will just be sitting around making noise and eating my food. No thanks. I am going for small and efficient. Later Gators!

  19. Damn ladyteruki hit the nail right on the head! It would be amazing to read and see all of what she’s talking about. In a way you are promoting your game. Maybe explain the process of what you guys go through in fixing bugs and broken aspects of the game (obviously not in great detail due to dbag human beings looking for ways to cheat). Maybe pitch some ideas to the community as far as some things whether it would be a good idea or not a good idea. I keep remembering what Cedric said at last year’s 24 hour live stream event about things being introduced into the game and the players coming up with different ideas on how to use it, and the comment that was made was “we develop something intended for one use and then see people use it in a way we never even considered.” Maybe do some fan art of people’s builds on servers (officials and unofficials) I used to love that! The sky is the limit, and ladyteruki is right, you would never have to worry about dropping spoiler alerts. Ark has a good couple of years left before a sequel, don’t waste it. Maybe develop some mini games as a dlc, just an idea. We understand you guys are so busy it would make the raptor clause’s head spin, and we thank you for all that you guys are working on! There are so many awesome ideas out there and obviously all of them can’t be added to the game, but maybe talking about the process on how do ya pick which ones to add or not? Just a couple ideas that come to me on the fly. Yes in some ways it adds more work to you guys, but I think it will pay off in the long run.

  23. I think the presence of dinosaurs and creatures "created" for the ARKs is due to escaping from proto-ARKs. Some of the creatures on Extinction not found in proto-ARKs could have migrated from further areas. At some point Aberration may well have had tusos and pteras, maybe during the event that damaged Aberration they were wiped out, and new ones couldn't be cloned since the two creatures were accidentally mixed together. Or maybe they were always there and the creators or the ARK itself added them as a suprising challenge.
