should player speed be nerfed? its like fighting with flash or nightcrawler

is anyone from wildcard stuff ever played againts players that put all points into speed + getting swamp fever and teleporting across map faster than flash or nightcrawler? when you add that insane lag, auto turrets are almost useless. should player speed be nerfed same way as fliers speed was? max players speed should be not more than +20% in my opinion, not to have player that can run over 50% of island in 10-15 seconds

No.  They already nerfed it once,  now I have to put even more points on speed to get the same result,  the last thing this game needs is more speed nerfs,  flyers are still ruined,  a player needs to be able to outrun a terror bird. Last thing this game needs is to be made even slower.

If people keep complaining then soon all build variety will be gone and we will all have the same character. Just like the various ptera builds before have all become pump stam builds. 

Maybe I could get on bored if you were saying nerf swamp fever and remove the speed buff.

Why?

There should be dino's that a player cannot get away from on foot. Given the stride length of a T-Rex, Giga etc they should catch you with ease really, and something that's got larger, more powerful legs (like a Terror Bird) should also be able to catch a human. You can't outrun an Emu in real life, why would you expect to be able to outrun a Terror Bird in a game?

I'm not agreeing with a nerf btw, I don't care either way - my argument would just be based on realism anyway, not PvP/PvE factors.

and what is difference now that 99% of griefers put all points into speed + get swamp fever? how is that various builds? character speed is just op and should be toned down to max of +20% and thats it. flier nerfs solved a lot of problems in game, im pretty sure this will do the same

ps:

isnt it dumb that auto turrets cant catch those super speed teleporters due to their speed and lag?

I get what you are saying, and I agree that we shouldn't be able to outrun dinos, especially a rex, but if people can't outrun dinos then there'd be all sorts of them kited to spawn points and no one would get anywhere. xD

Kited wild dinos will despawn after some time if you got them far enough from their spawn point.

Speed on characters is OP and should be nerfed hard.

1. Its stupid that people can just outrun turrets and suicide with rocket launchers.

2. You should outsmart wild dinos (grapples, parachures, cliffs, stuck it to rocks/trees and so), not just outrun them.

Clearly you have no idea what you are saying.

The first time the flyer nerf came in ark, pve was really boring. ppl got used to it eventually.

I'm using some points in speed atm aswell on my main character. if that would get nerfed aswell.. along with the flyers, rexes, etc.

than playtime will get really boring for me and I'm sure others (in pve) will agree aswell.

I dont play pvp, so I dont know about that.. for all I care, it gets nerfed so hard, that ppl start walking backwards. :P

One of the lead developers said explicitly (just a few weeks ago) that they are happy where player speed is.

I wouldn't expect a change any time soon.

Speed doesn't need a nerf. It was nerfed already. Swamp fever needs to have no speed buff that's all. I have 172% speed, and when I get swamp fever I get 200% which is way too much.

Use plant y, whips or flame throwers to combat speed based players. Works well. Especially plant y ;)

I agree with this completely although its unfortunate that you'd still get complaints about everything, even if they did adjust parameters for PVP vs PVE individually.

We play both PVP and PVE, and I always try to see for myself what maxing stats/items would allow me to get away with  and some things are pretty obvious like run speed in PVP.. 

The "kick in the nuts" to it all would be that someone will always find an exploit or a workaround to each adjustment or fix, and manipulating each stat/dino for PVP/PVE would be never ending.

Absolutely not. Lets not make the game even slower and give people less freedom.

On foot PvP is some of the most fun in this game, but you need a certain movement Speed to be able to get around.

With something like 120 max you will be forced to use a tame for everything. You wont be able to get away from anything in PvP and you wont be able to travel around the map on foot in a reasonable time.

 

If you have enough turrets the speed isnt even a Problem. But why should I need a Stego for every small turret box with 3 or 4 turrets? A nerf like this would also make some caves pretty much unraidable.

While I understand the point Joe made above, you my friend are making a very strong case in FAVOR of nerfing player movement speed.  :D

Movement speed has already been nerfed to the point that it requires a very specialist build to be fast which basically requires you to negate health, weight and melee stats in order to level it up. The last thing this game needs is some kind of socialist hand holding design that says everyone will have the same stats, the same build lest there be any individuality.

That would make for a very boring game. I have a character that has 1000 weight, who's job is just to farm and carry items around. He has 90% of his points in weight does that mean he should nerfed as well? The devs have already said they think movement speed is fine and you should accept their fine judgement.
