  1. Game is broken. Servers are terrible. You won't fix it. So now comes the $$ grab through transactions in an EARLY ACCESS game. I get you need money to operate but lipstick on a pig doesn't get you beauty queen. I endured all antics you pulled in ASE. I thought I could run the gauntlet again. I was wrong. I'll watch the fire from a distance. We all deserve better. ✌️

  5. On laggy servers, gigas are notorious for dropping torpor while you're feeding them narcs. My advice is to trap it so that it doesnt escape when it wakes up. Do not start feeding until its food stat is low enough to eat all the kibble at once. Only feed it narcs, and no while its torpor bar is already full, as the overflow torpor will be wasted. So let it drop a little then stack the narcs. Always bring 3+ times the amount required. A phenomenon may occur where while the torpor is slowly rising from narcs, it starts randomly losing 200 ish torpor every few seconds. At this point you must prepare for it to wake up and have to tranq it again. It's a bug. But starve tame it to avoid wasting your kibble the first time around

  6. Force feeding and stim feeding only works for Phiomia in my dictionary... So I dont think you can manualy get them to poop faster. Only wild/enemy dinos you can Roar at with a Rex. If they are small and lower level than the Rex the roar will have effect. They will poop because scared. But its not about poop. Somehow I also constantly mix this pooping up with my reasoning. But it doesnt mean anything in this discussion, the OP questions are about eggs... Anyway its also a method thats will need a lot of prepping etc. Pooping is not the same as dropping eggs. Not sure about it in depth but yes, mainly true. Maybe there is some kind of catch-up system for the server though, like with food in babies in stasis. I mean, Does the server really wait for the breeding to initiate after its cooldown is dropped to 0? How long? Hours? Days? I have logged in a lot of times looking at animals and their CD was reset, but no pregnancy or whatever. Could have been other people there though to render them in ofcourse. Or do "time-outs" nullify that the action took place somehow? Either way, you only have to control and change the males options to manage the breeding sessions. Also you can also breed with ORPed dinos on PvE, if they have mating enabled...

  8. Not having any luck on the doed hunt. Spent on ark day on giga mountain saw a single digit level. Moved SW to the next mountain spent another ark day and had more luck on its gentler slopes and saved a few doed balls from rexes - again single digits. I could have got more stone from my anky on herbi island at this rate. Finally got a decent level getting mauled by a saber, but it was getting dark out and I did not see the black argy that had dive bombed me on my way down, had not realized I had grabbed the doed already and killed it instead when I was intending to kill the argy. And worst of all it was an above max female argy which would have been a needed mate, but I had damaged it too much to try for the tame. (I guess wild mutants combined with a SP wild bonus gets more than lvl 30? - rare but I do see them!) Guess I will spend the next ark day heading west...probably better to bring the raft trap so I do not get mauled if I go there and can park and gets lots of tames.

  9. This is a cool update. We can get custom cosmetics and never be able to use them because the single player save bug still isn't fixed.

  12. I spent most of my Sunday making extraordinary kibble and getting the base of my Rex line set up and ready to go. My poor bees. They were so proud of all their honey, and then I came through like a swarm of kibble-making honey-locust. I think there’s only one or two honey left in each hive now, so kibble production is on hold for a bit. Over at the Rex base, I decided we could use a healer, so we put a Help Wanted sign outside. It attracted a handful of Dodos that kept pecking at the sign and a couple of Dilos that tried to eat the Dodos. I had to sic Sabene, my Sabertooth, on them before a new sign was needed. I put a lot of work into that one! Anyway, the only serious looking applicant was a creepy Pegomastax. He was dressed in a dark trench coat and had a large syringe slung over one shoulder. After he knocked at the gate, I said, “The heck with that,” and turned the turret back on. So as Yoda would say, “Time for a Daeodon, it is.” Once we were equipped, Buggsy and I headed up north to the Yuty pen where we began our hunt. As we drifted across the snowy landscape, the fluttering of giant insect wings sent some of the more skittish creatures fleeing for their lives. I’m pretty sure I heard a Kairuku yell, “The sky is falling!” before diving into a snowbank. A little later, we overflew a group of low level Daeodons that were attacking a mammoth, silently rooted for the mammoth, and continued on. We passed a pair of pigs here, a single one there, but they were all low level. Eventually, we happened upon another pig versus mammoth brouhaha, and one of the curly tailed miscreants was level 130. It actually looked to be running away from battle when giant insect legs suddenly latched onto it and pulled it into the sky. The Daeodon was a little bitey on the way back to the taming pen, but Buggsy dropped her in there without a hitch, and she tamed up quickly thanks to the exceptional kibble. I named her Tikachu before podding her. Back at the Rex base, Doc Tika helped heal up the female rexes that were born with the male’s stats, and we soon had a large enough group to start breeding for mutations. Nothing so far, but I have high hopes. Happy Arking, All!

  14. This is the next step in Snail Games goal to commoditize and monetize every aspect of ARK. Shi Hai (the CEO of Snail Games, which for all intents and purposes owns WildCard) doesn't think of ARK as a game, he thinks of it as a platform with multiple different ways to make money, most of which don't involve trying to make a better game. 1) Premium mods - instead of WildCard having a sponsored mods program that costs them money, which is what they used to do, mod makers have the chance to sell their mods to other players... and WIldCard/Snail get a cut. 2) Cosmetic packs from WIldCard/Snail - really just microtransactions, but they don't want to admit it's micro transactions. Starting with the very first pack that's coming out with Scorched Earth there's going to be a creature that players can only get by buying the pack. To anyone who's paying attention that's not really cosmetic anymore, it's a new creature that looks like it will give players an advantage for owning. They're starting to test how much people will complain if they sneak P2W features into their "cosmetic" packs... and WildCard/Snail gets all the money from it. If this pack sells well enough you can be certain there will be more important "content" in the future that can only be owned by buying future "cosmetic" packs. 3) Player created content - whether it's just a costume or some other form of "endless client-side functionality" this is WildCard getting players to do work that WildCard/Snail will make money from, disguised as supporting creators. People create stuff and sell it on the ARK platform... and WildCard/Snail gets a cut. 4) Eventually, somewhere down the road, Shi Hai (CEO of Snail Games) has said that he wants to introduce NFT's into ARK which would allow players, for example, allow players to breed and sell creatures to other players. And since every single creature will have a unique blockchain-based identifier... WildCard/Snail will get a cut. You know how WildCard pretends that they care about players selling creatures to each other for real money? They don't really care, they just want to get a piece of the action when it happens. The changes that are coming to ARK are all about turning ARK into a platform that "allows" people to create and sell things to each other... and WIldCard/Snail will get a cut. Of everything.

  15. We don't need these mods to change the appearance of Ark. We need Ark to run well, a console update would be nice every now and then. We need servers to run well; not constantly lagging, etc. People are leaving for other games because your focus isn't on ASA the way it should be. Players want content and maps, not lies and the run around. The overpopulation of some servers won't matter for long, it's quickly getting too late.

  17. Well done wildcard you manage to split your playerbase and pretty much kill both arks at the same time, how are your decisions so bad? Heads need to roll and you need to get developers working on the game with common sense

  21. -For scorched earth the threat of thirst is not as present as you would think. Those little bugs you see flying around can get you a nice drink of water by running up to them. -The lyamantria (moth) will be your most accessible flyer, which is pretty crucial on scorched as the ground is pretty much littered with aggressive dinos. -On PvE focus on sandstone structures. The other buildings will overheat on the inside and make them unlivable. -Early on its worth taking the dino army approach. Tame up every dilo and raptor you see, which will help cover your butt from all the aggressive carnivores. -Move very cautiously and look around alot...its super easy to go from everything being calm to getting swarmed. With these tips in mind lets make a gameplan: There are locations that have watering holes. Keep building your dino pack as you cautiously search for one. Once you find one, use your new found pack to clear the location, then go ahead and start setting up your home. Resources such as wood are less abundant in scorched, so focus on building your essential crafting stations and a small bedroom to respawn in. After that you should spread your pack out a bit, but not too far. They will help keep your territory secure. Last thing you need is that flyer. Lyamantria aren't hard to knock out, a bola and tranq arrows will do, but with berries they take a long time so go for a low level. After that you should be setup for a fairly successful run. Keep building that dino pack as you accumulate resources and start looking at the larger carnivores to tame. Eventually you should utilize that watering hole and grow some crops for kibble production. From there it's all about expansion and upgrading to better tames/gear. Good luck!

  22. You can do your little passive-aggressive facepalms all you want, the facts are the facts and Shi Hai has said what he's said. If you want to be "excited" about microtransactions that's certainly your choice, I guess you like it when game companies nickel & dime you to death.

  24. That's technically true, but also meaningless. They haven't officially announced it (yet), but anyone who thinks this isn't coming down the road is wearing blinders. This is the future of ARK that Shi Hai is working towards, just because there's no "Confirmation" as of this date doesn't mean anything. We already know what he wants for the future, the only questions are how how fast, and how much? Shi envisions a future where everything is on the table, including players selling in-game assets to each other (like creatures breed for boss fights) using RMT's (real money transactions) and by embedding blockchain/NFT's into the ARK system it will become possible for Snail to get a cut of those RMT's. Shi doesn't see RMT's as a form of cheating, he doesn't want to prevent it, his long term goal is to encourage RMT's just as long as Snail can harvest extra profits from it when it happens. For example, Shi Hai said: “However, at Snail Games, we believe that we have now reached an era of WEB 3.0, and the ownership of digital assets is the most important issue for our fellow users.” "Plus there’s the question of monetizing content, one of the benefits blockchain brings to the Web3 table." "NFTs are part of that puzzle." Anyone who wants to build blockchain and NFT's into a game is not doing it to benefit the players. He pretends that this is for the benefit of content creators, but if you read interviews or watch the videos at conferences when he speaks, it's painfully easy to read between the lines and see that what he really cares about is WC/Snail getting a cut from everything exchanged between players. His goal is to commoditize and monetize every possible player-to-player transaction you can imagine. This has been publicly available knowledge for quite some time now and lack of "Confirmation" doesn't change the underlying truth. https://venturebeat.com/games/snail-games-chairman-talks-property-rights-in-the-metaverse-at-gamesbeat-summit/
