Again, let's be honest. most people only voted for the baboon because they are immature users who think monkey memes are funny (and they aren't). While a smaller percentage of them voted for it because of Name Recognition from the OP (which is unfair since they are a famous ARK YouTuber). That said however, what WC is bringing to the table is sort of cool. Sure it panders to the poisonous PvP crowd, and it's yet another tool to bully players for petty reasons, and it will likely be outclassed by Mr. High Level Yuty and his band of bigger monkeys (or something better at fighting). BUUUUUUT, the new map is A JUNGLE so it kinda makes sense to add some exotic fauna to The Lost Island (I mean Monkeys and Jungles do go hand in hand.) Let's also not forget that we still have Amargasaurus AND a mystery animal... so if you don't like the monkey no one is forcing you to tame one (and you probably will anyway because ARK) Is it Stupid? YES! oh god YES, it's amazingly stupid and I'll never say otherwise. But this is a game with unicorns, Gryphons, Wyverns, A giga that's only bigger than T-rex to make the giga fans shut up (it was actually smaller, dumber, and weaker than T-rex), Glow-In-The-Dark dinosaurs, Alien knock-offs the size of a house, Tameable Spiders (two kinds even), A Manticore and a Dragon as bosses, Liopluradons that are about as magical as can of soup and only exist because of a meme that's been dead LONG before this game even launched, A Dodo wyvern/rex hybrid which leads an army of zombie creatures, and all sorts of strange amalgamations curtesy of an English man with a god complex. I think AN EXTINCT MONKEY is pretty normal in comparison.

everyone who voted for the monke how do you feel realizing WILDCARD CHOOSES ITS ABILITIES YOUR VOTING FOR A DINOSAUR NOT A DINOS FEATURES. even if it was given a gun it would get nerfed to the point that it cant reload and instead craps in the gun. hope you like the bigger and slightly less ugly meso. thisis why we should have voted carchar, what ever we got we wouldnt be angry by ideas that we thought were garenteed but dont make it even though wildcard said they choose its abilities.

Im very curious.! Wildcard wrote "Arriving with the map will be 3 brand new real-world creatures, including the Amargasaurus and one chosen explicitly by the ARK community!" Now we know that Amargasaurus and Dinopithecus will be the first two. But what will be the 3th new animal.? Will it be the carcharodontosaurus that was 1% from winning over the dinopithecus, or do Wildcard have yet another surprice for us.?

Look the Dinopethicus may be a little bit disappointing but look on the bright side we still get two new other creatures such Amargasaurus and a mystery Dino. So we still got things to be excited about

Did people truly believe Wildcard would just include everything in the fan made dossier? You voted for a creature, not its abilities and use. Hope you're happy about getting a pretty useless creature voted into ARK 😂 disables TEK = zero use for PvE and I bet majority voting were PvE players too 🤣

I don't know that they ever would but it would be pretty cool if lost island (or a future map) was an ark with some sort of force field or aura that would block tek all together. All tek structures, weapons, and armor simply would not work /be able to be crafted by default on this map. Maybe even as far as the super convenient cryopods! Any dinos that are more based around tek or element could be banned or limited much like aberration did with flyers and certain other creatures. Don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or if a Dev would even read this but it sounded fun to me

The whole "gun wielding" ability was just a fan concept, and wildcard weren't considering those when making the winning dino. That's why I voted Carcharodontosaurus instead of Dinopithecus, because Dinopithecus heavily relied on its concept abilities to win the vote, while carcharo had many different ideas, meaning everyone had their own ideas for the creature and wouldn't have to rely on wildcard picking their ideas.

Well strictly speaking Gigantopithici are Apes, not Monkeys. So my point still stands.

While it sucks we won't get Carcha, the small victory here is that I can tame some baboons and get mutations for brown with gold stripes to look like Rajang from Monster Hunter lol

It must be a Rex's Size Carnivore , Please Bring Carcharodontosaurus, Mapusaurus or Acrocantosaurus, We need a new big Carnivore in The game , The last one was a medium sized Yutyranos Years ago.

Gigantopithicus is just a guy in a fur suit. It also lacks the mobility of the Dinopithicus and can't throw projectile weapons.

It would be great fan service to add Carcharo as the third and final lost island creature, especially coming in as a photo finish 2nd place. Seeing how creative they were with the Amarga and monkey abilities, I think there’d be little worry about it potentially being a generic Rex alt. I really hope Carchar ends up as our 3rd creature. Also not going to be sore about it, congrats team monkey on your narrow victory

And this is why you don't vote for a creature because of its concept, non-official abilities. Good job everyone! Coulda had carcharo or livyatan, but we got a Thyla with extra abilities. Edit: My opinion on the creature has changed quite a bit since it was first announced. This is because of 2 reasons. One, I think this creature could be great if done right. Two, there is a near guaranteed chance carcharo will be added, whether it be in ARK 2, a future update, or even the 3rd lost island creature. I'm not mad anymore about Dinopithecus winning, and congrats to UpFromTheDepths for winning!
