  1. Thanksgiving is upon us and today, Patch 252 brings a feast of new content to ARK: Survival Evolved! New friends will be making an appearance as four new creatures will become available to discover and tame, including the slimy Achatina, nocturnal hunter Megalosaurus, harvesting-specialist Moschops and the pheromone-spewing Pachyrhinosaurus! Achatina Limusegnis, slow and steady, that's the best way to describe the Achatina. A land mollusk standing about 2-3 ft tall, prized by local tribes, the Achatina is often captured and tamed for its glue-like secretions, which can be used as an adhesive when building various structures. It is also reverence for its uncanny ability to create an organic, incredibly strong, lightweight plates that can be shaped and then heat treated into casings for anything. Megalosaurus Noctedominus, the scary nighttime predator Megalosaurus is a beast that causes both survivors and other land creatures to fear the dark. Megalosaurus is a voracious carnivore and is often trained for use in night-time raids against other survivor camps. Due to its ferocious strength exhibited during the night, it sometimes finds itself recovering or sleeping during the day. However be warned, as it is a light sleeper and will wake with tremendous anger is disturbed during rest. Moschops Cibumutante, defines fear, as in fear-ful, since the slightest provocation sends it running. This dino's "special ability" is that it can eat just about anything and do just fine. This makes it particularly useful when domesticated and trained to eat specific materials - for example, teach it to focus on chewing a specific material, and that resource will become easier to harvest. Just remember that everything scares this breed of dino and it will flee without hesitation, so be cautious when taming it! Pachyrhinosaurus Mitisaura, an easy-to-train mount for new riders, its ability to produce a calming "scent" when in danger, helps keep survivors safe. The Pachyrhinosaurus can also reverse the effect of its scent cloud, making nearby creatures incredibly aggressive, which is sometimes useful in attacking other camps. ..but that's not all! Patch 252 also introduces a vast redesign of the original caves on The Island! Bringing them up to par visually As well as introducing more gameplay elements to acquiring those artifacts! Seasoned explorers will want to give these a whirl as it is an entirely new experience with much to be unravelled! Along with the launch of patch 252 comes even more content goodness: ARK: Turkey Trial 2! New challenge and cosmetics! Earnable Emote! (this system also enables Mods to add more Emotes to the game!) New Mechanic: Breeding Phase 3 with Random Mutations and Family Trees. VFX Indicators for Whistle Commands: Move To, Attack, and Group-Selected Units. Turkey Trial 2 ARK's biomes are now host to savage, blood-thirsty mutant Super Turkeys. 2. You do realize that the E in ETA means estimated right? All it means is that they believe it will come out on the 23rd if QA goes well and they don't run into any problems. Since you don't work there and have no idea what's going on behind the scenes, you don't really have any room to talk. They communicated that it would be a little late and told people not to stay awake for it.

  4. No, you can share your invalid opinion all you want. But unless you have extensive background experience of game development on the scale of a console game, you criticizing their ESTIMATED release date really has no substantial value. It's simply complaining for the sake of complaining and doesn't help them improve the game in any way.

  10. You should already be preparing. It says the 23rd which is tomorrow. They should have added a change where black beach on the island is red. Make it more cinematic for the coming bloodbaths.

  11. Yes, why not have a bunch of different types? As the saying goes, "people will vote with their feet". They will play on the type they like best. If the open is populated, you will know it succeeded. If it is empty, there is your answer as to what people want. I play PVE, and know that when players are talking about this feature, they generally mean PVP, but it seems wrong that they took a closed PVP server and opened it up. Why didn't they just add more servers? For PVE, it really makes very little difference that they opened up the transfer. I see a few more quetzals and pteras, but not much else. We have a dire bear now on SE, but pretty much only take it out to get fiber occasionally. Another way to look at this cross-ark transfer is that it has actually shown very dramatically just how broken PVP in ARK is. All they really did is magnify all the effects that were threatening to make it not work and now it seems to have been the straw that broke the camels back (at least from what I read here, since I don't play it, I've never liked the offline aspect of it).

  12. I think I understand the intent with the cross ark transfers with all items and dinos, as a way to keep the end game interesting for high level players and alpha tribes. But I think this as a solution dramatically changes the character of the game, as there is no sense of community to limit the behavior of high level tribes intent on griefing and wiping out all lower level beginner players and tribes. On a given server a sense of community develops that either moderates the alphas aggression towards people trying to get started on the game, or people quickly learn to go to another server and have a shot at building up to be a contender. When you can simply go from server to server wiping out newbs and young tribes without any community backlash (it aint your home server so there are no repercussions in your community), it makes it inevitable that nothing will moderate the behavior of the massive collectives that seem to really enjoy destroying server after server. When someone loses weeks of their efforts to a random high level mob that appears and disappears it removes all motivation to try building your own tribe. I think you will see retention of the more aggressive high level tribes and players and a complete drop off of new people coming and playing what is very much a grinding game. I think you will drive off those at a mid-level now unable to progress, let alone the complete beginners. It takes a lot of hours of grinding and building to get to the point where you have a chance of holding your own with this new paradigm of constant wipes and destruction. Yes, this new character and flavor of the game play will appeal to some, but I think you will find it does not appeal to the majority of your player base that enjoys the unique balance of PVE and PVP that this game provides (or used to) on the PVP servers. I would suggest having two tiers of PVP servers, one with cross ark transfer all over the place as you have now, and another tier that does not allow transfers or keeps it to small clusters comprised of one server of each map. One thing that WC might do to understand the long term implications to their player base would be polling the active players on some sample servers to find out how many want this locked down and how many want the free for all.

  13. WC has been through this before, when players could transfer their level from server to server, yet they have learned nothing from the griefing and chaos it caused and decided to open dino and gear transfer as well. How does make sense when the community asked to shut down player transfer (a year and a half ago) and they did ? I have had almost enough, for 4 days now I have been unable to play the game, all my tribe has been doing is chasing Chinese lvl 1 re-rolls on fast pteras all over the map while they are being supplied with gear from their home server. You kill them and they just keep coming back, you catch them and they just reroll their level 1 so you cant hold them in jail. They are doing nothing but griefing people, killing any and all tamed dinos they see. The people that have suffered the most from this are the lower level tribes who can not properly defend themselves yet. We have built a very good community, roughly 40 active players and a variety of tribes but now they are quitting due to their losses and the hounding of these low life scum. Enough is enough, and I am almost ready to follow, I did not buy this game to chase griefers all over the map for 8 hours a day.

  14. Already had to deal with people transferring wyverns and golems from SE trying to wipe servers, now we have to deal with all that + gigas and titans and whatever else they can bring from the island/center servers. At least try to also limit the amount of items people can bring or make a cool-down for item transfer too. That wouldn't even solve the problem if 50 people come on your server out of nowhere with full inventory of explosives. Let's not forget that SE map was supposed to be harder than the others, now we can just transfer all the kibble in the world to tame stuff there and make our lives a lot easier oh and structures? So I can farm the volcano on the island and get a bunch of metal, make a bunch of structures and go to SE and boom, already have a base. I really don't know why you guys did this, but I don't like it at all. Hope you made the right decision here.

  15. 50+ raiding tribes are going to use the already massive amount of servers they have to raid every server, ruining the entire community people have built up on offical servers over the year of playing with each other. VDD have 100+ players 10+ islands servers and guess what, they have my server targeted, I'm not going to give them the chance to offline raid me so I'm de-spawning my base and hoping onto another game.

  18. So basically, in regards to the duping issue, you basically just said: "Good job if you did it before! All those explosives you still have you can keep, but don't do it again, or else...." "Maybe..."
