    Anti-Mesh System Enhancements

    Last week we deployed upgrades to the anti-mesh system that significantly reduced the amount of meshing that is occurring on the Official Network. It’s been instrumental in creating a fair playing experience and decreasing the amount of meshing, as we are seeing an overall 90% reduction. We truly believe, with your help, we’ll be able to move the needle to 99%!

    The first iteration of the anti-mesh system only included detection which enabled us to collect critical data needed to upgrade the system to take action on those who were identified to be meshing. The wide-scale deployment of the second iteration last week allowed us to reduce the edge cases and false-positives that resulted from upgrading the system to take action. We’re now introducing an upgrade to the action-taking capabilities of the anti-mesh system that is much more aggressive than the prior version we introduced last week. Instances in which you may have been teleported before will be less forgiving now. This upgrade has been tested on multiple maps and across a large number of servers.  After fixing the few edge cases that resulted from the upgrade, we are now confident in widening the scope of servers to ensure the system is ready for the larger network.

    It is possible that you may find yourself in situations where the system has not accounted for and we're asking for your assistance in reporting them. Your tribe log will contain important information about any actions taken by the anti-mesh system. That information is useful in determining if it was a legitimate action and will be utilized to make further improvements to the detection logic.  We've created a thread for you to file your reports:

    We will be vigilant in reviewing your feedback and responding to cases in which the anti-mesh system acts incorrectly. With your help and cooperation we believe we can eliminate meshing, an exploit that ruins the gaming experiences for many survivors across Official and Unofficial Networks.


     

    EVO Event

    Survivors on all platforms will be receiving a special Evolution Event perk this weekend! It will be active from Friday the 31st of Jan at 1 PM EST until Monday the 3rd of Feb at 3 PM EST. All Official Servers across each platform will be undergoing this evolutionary change which includes:

    • 2x Harvesting Rates
    • 2x Taming Rates
    • 2x EXP Rates

    Because alot of people aren't happy they are fixing this, I am very happy though and find it funny how many have actually been abusing this

    Just stop the LAG... please :) maybe just put every server on a daily reboot cycle at midnight ???

    Nice to see progress towards the whole meshing saga...
    Kind of too late though we already lost 3 bases over 2k tames and a couple years of work (all was properly ground out for).
    Though if these mesh fixes make a difference you may inspire me to actually play instead of just filling up generators and jumping off, keep up the fixes wildcard! :)

    You realize it could work from server time, if it went from midnight in every timezone servers would be restarting every hour

    Negative, on unofficial we have attentive overwatch(admins) that keep it at bay

    Great!

    Now you just need to fix all the tonnes of duped stuff on Xbox official.

    Which probably entails a server wipe, which wildcard doesn't seem brave enough to do. 

    Good work on stopping most of the meshing though, I am very pleased with this news :)

    The daily reboot idea isn't a bad idea, especially if a time, such as 12AM GMT, were announced well ahead of the implementation by a few weeks, and perhaps pop up for a bit on the message of the day. Doesn't take long to reboot, and everyone can just plan around such things.

    the lag isn't really solved by a reboot, it is solved by less players and less structures, or better ways of handling those things server side. like a few changes they have made already.

    no word yet on game crashing while playing none-dedicated and tames going gone and inventorys being lost?  otherwise nice to see meshing will eventualy will be gone and glad to hear that~! great work ark team! : )

    Question I have not seen answered yet, will the Anti-mesh activate if collision for building has been disabled on a private server?

    I get that this is a problem for many and happy to see it addressed! However, the way I play I don't suffer from it at all so really hope this proves as effective as they believe it is and that they can move most of the team working on preventing meshing to fixing other bugs that I do suffer from! :D

    This is great news for everyone who loves to play Ark. Not such great news for the people who have been abusing the flaws in the game for far too long.. your days are numbered mwahaha.

     

    @Cedric On extinction I have experienced what can only be describe as a instakill zone, it's on the path that leads to King Titan Terminal(west of the terminal) basically you can't dismount or you die. As soon as your feet hit the ground you launch into the sky slam to the ground and die. Tribe log says "you killed yourself" My only guess is that the game thinks you're in the mesh because of poor textures or something. Coords 01 49 roughly. It's about 100-200 meters west of the Titan Terminal.

    Keep up the good work, thanks for continuing to improve this awesome game.

    Its an awesome change and im very happy to see sone changes that where very needed but maybe you shouldhave warned players my tribe just lost couple of characters and a ton of anti mesh turrets ti it and even some parts of the base got destroyed

    It's funny how some of the comments are "that's great but I lost some of my base and some creatures" because it was in the mesh

    Still no bug fixes for xbox leveling xp....I cant get any xp from purple drops and you removed nearly 5 lvls of xp dropping me from 135 to 130 then broke xp again. I cant get any xp while doing purple drops.....0xp...and not even a single acknowledgement of this. Pathetic
