Hey survivors! We're here with a quick update on some of the top priorities keeping us busy in the trenches throughout early 2024. As always, a smooth and enjoyable ARK experience is our main goal, and we're laser-focused on tackling three key areas: 1. Server Performance: We hear you loud and clear on server performance. We're relentlessly optimizing the server infrastructure to ensure silky-smooth gameplay. Expect continued improvements throughout January, and know that we're constantly monitoring and tweaking to make the Official Network stable. 2. Exploits and Hacks: No one enjoys being disrupted by unfair play. We're actively battling exploits and hacks with a vengeance, deploying new detection and prevention measures at a frequent and regular cadence. We'll keep you posted on our progress, and remember, report any violations to the Code of Conduct to our enforcement team here. Your reports are invaluable in keeping ARK a fair and enjoyable experience for all. 3. Network Movement: Improving network movement for both characters and dinos is a top priority. Expect continued improvement throughout the month of January and going forward. Full server transfers on official servers across all platforms will be enabled on the 24th January. Once enabled, players will be able to download items and creatures onto the map without restriction. We will also launch some fresh non-transfer Official PvP servers at this time and we’ll share more info on those prior. We're thrilled to announce that a SOTF dev kit update will be released by mid next week. Craft custom arenas, create devious new battle-royale style game modes, and sculpt the ultimate battlegrounds where your fellow ARK survivors will fight to see who will be the ultimate survivor! Gather your coding cohorts, fire up your imaginations and show the community what you can do! By the end of this month, we're unleashing a colossal-sized dev kit update that'll put the power of unbridled game creation directly in your hands. Imagine it: crafting not just ARK mods, but entire custom Unreal Engine games to be made available inside ASA. Want to build a Mario-esque rampage through Crystal Isles? Go for it! Dream of a PvP arena where Tek Rexes joust against Spinos? Buckle up. This dev kit update will come with a completely playable Mario-inspired platformer example to help show you the ropes, but your imagination is the true architect. Design custom main menus, host and browse your own multiplayer game sessions from within the mod, and even create a mod that progresses (seamless travel) from one level to the next – the sandbox is officially yours to play in. Get ready to unleash your inner game dev, push the limits of ARK's potential, and build experiences that will leave the community speechless. We can't wait to see what you cook up! Mark your calendars for the end of February! The Center and Gigantoraptor make a grand debut! The Center is a sprawling, diverse map that will redefine your ARK experience. Lush jungles teem with hidden secrets, treacherous ice peaks pierce the sky, and crystalline caverns beckon with untold treasures. Towering above the horizon comes the Gigantoraptor, a feathered behemoth unlike anything ever seen. Whether you choose to tame this gentle giant or respect its territorial might, the Gigantoraptor's arrival will forever alter the delicate balance of power on The Center. The searing sands of Scorched Earth will arrive on April 1st, bringing along a taste of sun-baked survival unlike any you've known. Brace yourselves for an unforgiving desert where every oasis is a hard-won prize and every sandstorm a test of your grit. Don your rugged frontier leather chaps, customize your base with western-themed structures, and tame the ultimate desert steed: the Fasolasuchus. But hold on, pardners’ 🤠, that's not all! April 1st also sees the debut of the Frontier Adventure Pack, a DLC treasure trove of desert-themed goodies that'll make you the envy of any wasteland wanderer. And did we mention trains!? Build train tracks that crisscross the scorching landscape, choo-choo your way past sandworms, and create your own Wild West-style dino raids. Strap yourselves in, because Winter Wonderland was just the first snowflake in a blizzard of freshly-designed ARK events coming your way in 2024! Clayton's final drawing had to be a unique creature, blending an axolotl head, unicorn horn, ringed-lemur tail, armadillo body, bat wings, T-rex limbs, bioluminescence, and a habitat on Aberration. Shastasaurus was supposed to be on Center, we voted for that, why we getting the Gigantoraptor on center? That fits Ragnarok, not Center. The Shastasaurus is perfect for the vast ocean of the Center, changing that doesn't make sense 🫤3 points

I have another build to release with some fixes for duplicate "unique" id's used by both in-world and cryo creatures at the same time. New build will give cryo creatures a new UUID regardless of what is in the game data to prevent this crash on load. Still some testing to do and working on exposing chibi xp so won't be until later today I put a release out. In the meantime if you want to provide a copy of your backup I will test it in dev and ensure the issue you are experiencing won't be an issue in next release.2 points

It's in Early Access because the code base seems to be the same as 2015, when it was in Early Access. 😆2 points

As i write this, I am furious. Angry enough to make an account to come here and voice my frustrations. SE was a buggy mess, but it was always 'Early Access' and we knew it was basically a paid Beta. SA was supposed to be a finished product. So why the hell can't it so much as SAVE YOUR PROGRESS. I have lost hours of single player time, including a full imp'd Carcha that now hasn't even been bred yet. And this is AFTER using the 'Saveworld' console command. When i opened the game after work today, i was at the bottom of the ocean. My Rhynio was at the surface, to far to call down and i had no scuba because i wasn't free diving. Their are posts on the forum over a month old and still no damned fix. This game is far to unforgiving for this JV crap to happen. I used the console command, then i used the start menu to exit to main menu, closed the app and turned off my xbox like i always do. I took every step i could to curb this nonsense but to no avail. This isn't a finished product and the Devs have no right to demand payment for it. How can you expect us to shell out more money for Ark 2 when you can't even provide the games we've already paid you for. And for anyone who's about to comment something like 'but muh pvp', don't bother. I paid for a product that i have yet to receive (that being a completed, market ready game) and that's all that's relevant. I wasted half my day off on something that apparently never happened.1 point

More servers are being released on the 24th. They are non-transfer only servers. I think that person is hoping for ORP to be included in those. I doubt they will be as WildCard has stated more than once they don't have any plans to add ORP servers. But you never know.1 point

The wood chairs/benches/tables look very out of place in a metal or tek tier base. Would it be possible to add these? Could even be part of an interior decor cosmetic DLC with some other additions :)1 point

Gigantoraptor sounds overall more useful than Shastasaurus, but they lied which dino belongs to which map. They also lied when Scorched Earth is coming (again lol). I guess ASA is just a reskin so making the Shasta saddle is impossible.1 point

Everyone complaining about not getting the Shastasaurus with the Center please remember that they did say they are having problems getting the saddle everyone is wanting for it to work correctly. I can't remember when they said it, I want to say right before ASA came out or around that time, but they did mention they are working on it and was having problems. Yes we can ask but don't get upset about it or start yelling at the overworked devs.1 point

I get not wanting to rasie baby dinos without maewings & that's from someone who plays solo. But It's still bull, if they can change this one they can change the rest, and tha doesn't exactly make me wanna vote on anymore from here on out. If not having maewings or something like them was such a problem they could've released Ragnarok before The Center, then they wouldn't have needed to change anything.1 point

The amount of hate and disappointment in the comments just keeps growing every community crunch and wildcard just utterly neglects the community and walks around with blinders on. ASA has so much potential and is incredible but doesn't get the love it deserves. To those that say the devs are overworked as an excuse, then hire more employees to help where things are falling apart. This isn't an indie game that sales for $2 its a multi million dollar project they can afford a few hundred thousand more dollars for a handful of people to come in. I'm not hating on the devs work I'm hating on the higher ups capabilities of acknowledging when a problem is indeed a problem. (Ark is my favorite game and will defend it at the end of the day. I'm just tired be fully expecting to be let down all the time)1 point

They have to change it and prioritize the gigantoraptor because people are spoiled and can't live without maewings 😂😂😂 and that was one of the points of them "choosing" it, they were preparing for that to happen, since maewings only come in gen2 (which is like 57357 episodes away). They could put both tho, since shasta is perfect for center and was elected because of that. I don't see them putting shasta in another map, since center is the map with more water, besides gen1 with the ocean biome. So putting both would be the smart move. Instead of rushing to put Center and SE in like two months apart. That's not even enough time to enjoy center properly. They are shooting their foot again, since the more the episodes are apart from each other, the more people will be playing it, like it's been for years. If they deliver everything in a year and a half, they will have to rush with Ark 2, which it's not a priority because of all the work on every episode they still have to put (unless they put different dev teams, but then they would lose the intelligence they are acquiring on ark 1.5, which was the main point of launching it anyway... well, that and the money).1 point

..and continuing with the mutations, the Tek Rex will be able to receive more since the "cap level" of the Tek creatures is higher than the normal ones (500 Tek level - 450 normal level, with Vanilla settings). Also, the normal Rex you got seems like a max level wild to me (150 or very close, right?), remember that Tek wilds can reach level 180 so it's possible that you can also find something better to integrate into the coupling line, although both Rexes you proposed already have optimal stats.1 point

There needs to be some sort of building restrictions on pve servers. 1. You plant a base flag. 2. bases are limited to 10x10 behegate area from floor to to skybox 3. anything built outside that 10x10 area after 3 hours is considered a destroyable item. yes this means traps / pillars / this will A. clean up all broken traps left behind. pillar grief will no longer be a thing. peoples bases will still be left intact. an a reduction of base size will be better general health for dino spawns. it will also allow people to make there small cryo area where they can deploy there dinos. this solves lots of issue with out creating any new ones. it should be something people that are smart should be advocating for.1 point

It says before purchasing that the maps will eventually be added so idk what to say to you on that matter, but regarding the remaster, definitely a copy/paste job, lol. I can bet my right arm this game wasn't done from scratch. They even left in the original things like oviraptors picking up (tamed dino's) eggs and dung beetles picking up poop. Hell, even the raptors sounded like they used to when this game was first released 😆 I was warned not to buy it if I was expecting a shiny new game that worked because it was gonna be the same game with the same lag, glitches & bugs. Did I listen? Nope 😫 I'll still play it tho.. the lag is like background noise at this point. Not happy that it's still in the game, but whatever. I'll give them a few months to fix it, and if not then I'll put this game to rest for good. can't get any fairer than that!1 point

I was confused as well, if they had been planning on adding the center, don't you think they would have started to work on the shast as opposed to the gigantoraptor? And even if the were planning on adding the gigantoraptor, wouldn't they work on ragnarok and not the center. Its all very confusing and I wish WildCard would give us more insight on why this decision was made.0 points
