Common Name: Giant Bee Species: Apis Lithohermaea Time: Middle Miocene Diet: Floravore Temperament: Territorial Wild In the wild, Apis Lithohermaea Drones never stray far from their nests, which they build high in the Island’s Redwood trees or on rocky cliffsides. Apis Drones can be seen swarming around the nest in groups, but to get a look at the Queen Apis, one would need to crack open the nest itself. Speaking from experience, this is not a pleasant task, as the untameable Apis Drones are quite territorial. I probably should have that one coming, in hindsight. Take caution: Apis stings will significantly weaken any creature which suffers them, and because its stinger is not barbed, Apis can sting multiple times without its stinger being ripped away. Domesticated A tamed Apis Queen will lay new drone eggs, and construct a nest that survivors can farm for honey, so long as they remember to wear specialised bee-keeping gear. Said honey is not only sweet and delicious, but laced with scents that land mammals find irresistible. Many hunters use it to bait their traps. Apis Drones will also follow their Queen into battle, so they can be used for self-defence in a pinch.4 points

Not exactly, on both sides. Especially when you consider that certain plants would die out, which in turn would cause certain herbivorous animals to die out, which in turn would cause a cause certain carnivorous animals to die out. By losing bees, it would cause a chain reaction. Just like if you managed to wipe out the entire population of flies or mice, it would cause a chain reaction. Every species is important to the ecosystem, and if one thing were to die out it would cause a chain reaction. You go back in time 2 years and somehow kill every single bee on the planet, and come back to the present, and you'd be surprised at how different the world would be. I'd say let's not take our chances and try not to make anything go extinct? We've had too many species die out due to human interference.(Though it'd be extremely difficult to eradicate every species of bee on the planet, so...)2 points

Not a myth, perhaps I was overly general with 'we die' but large portions of us would. Bees are a rather vital link in the ecosystem right now, and there are not many species that could replace them quickly enough to avoid an ecosystem crash in temperate climates. We would lose a large proportion of our food crops, and significant biodiversity. The resulting pressure for resources would inevitably lead to conflict. We can engineer crops, but there would certainly be an ecosystem crash, bees are currently irreplaceable in the temperate ecosystem. Humanity may survive it, but it would be at significantly reduced quality of life, and vastly greater chance of severe war and population loss. It is definitely something to be concerned about. Then you, my friend, are either extremely bad at maths, or very misinformed. There is no way that 'getting rid of flying stingers' (bees do not sting unless provoked) is worth ecosystem collapse. That is just daft lad.2 points

It is ok bro. That is why I say we all apologize. We all know about the issue, but the game just isn't at a point where the bug can be fixed without it coming back more than likely. Lets just get excited that we are getting SOOOO much content for this amazing game. Other survival games can eat their hearts out. Looking forward to more new bugs( Edit: realized the connotations of what I said lol, and I need to clarify that I mean bugs as in creatures and not bugs as in game bugs. Derp). Need another Giant Spider that doesn't live in caves and is a lot more agile1 point

You do realise almost every plant requires pollination? 30% of our crops and 90% of the world's flora. We'd lose so much oxygen you'd need to go around wearing an oxygen mask and air tanks. People in China would literally die out because of the already terrible air quality and now with most plants dying out. Also like another person said. Losing lots of plants means lots of herbivorous animals die out which means most carnivorous animals die out. It's quite shocking how our entire earth is held together by these 'flying stingers' (which they rarely do)1 point

Hey thank you for keeping my thread alive i believe that if there is any way to for the problem to go away we as mac community have to keep post about our problems so that it is seen more often1 point

Instead of shooting the queen in the face with a Tranq dart they should make some sort of system where you have to "knock it out" with smoke. Smoke or narcotic bombs would be a cool new taming method added for them.1 point

Wait... So if bees have a queen... Why are there no ant queens yet? It says in their dossier that there might be a queen variation.1 point

OH MY GOD...Something I can run away from while screaming like a little girl! I am deathly allergic to bees in real life to explain that lol. While I am a bit phobic of bees I am also glad to see them coming into the game. It has been one of the biggest requests.1 point

I second this. Think before you attack. I own 3 copies. One for pc and 2 for xbox. And I to would love to know what the devs pattern is. It seems to be multiple releases come to pc then all that was released to pc come to xbox all at once. Except for the redwoods biome for The Center. It is only fair that pc gets things first since it was the pc gamers that fueled the games success to even make it to console but that does not mean that they should be left way behind just like Minecraft is doing right now. Console versions are whats going to help the game be an even bigger success. Most gamers use consoles. So instead of always showing hate. Spread a little love ya assholes. Don't you want the game to be a success?!1 point
