Single Player Survivors

An issue or issues that I've seen often on single player is yes I do notice more of for say raptors, dodos, and wolves after some in game days spawn more frequent than other dinos.

Seems like from what I studied is it is basic survival and seems the wolves kill off everything and they grow more and more in packs to make them more deadly to other dinos.

The dodo's in the other hand seem to respawn more if you are in an easier spawn area of dinos that are not hostile and you go on meat runs killing everything.

The armor repairs for seems to be higher quality armor glitches out and uses about all the resources in your smithy upon repair of one item. I believe it uses up all of the hide. I've only noticed this on single player and dedicated.

Lol to the tether distance setting now but thanks for letting us see how unstable it is if set too high.

Split screen seems to bug out a lot on entering caves but is ok with boss entrance to arenas. I do also believe giving the different ratio for split screen for say option to have horizontal or vertical screens is a must and would help tons for seeing everything better instead of putting your eyeballs to the screen to see, Thanks

PC laptop (good laptop), The Island

DestroyWildDinos command created some pretty harsh and frequent lag spikes and at least one or two crashes on my first single player world a few months ago. I think the team should look into the effects this command has on single player because it seems to not be so friendly. If anything, there may be too many entities for the game to process efficiently. I've never gone in any caves yet so I can't say anything about that, maybe I'll have a look today to see if anything at all spawns.

Potential performance improving options:

Animal density scale (could create a new difficulty for more hardened players with sparser wildlife.)

Rain particle rendering (default/low/off) and rain frequency option, please it feels like I live during the Monsoon.

hello i play single player re: dinos

I find the caves stuffed full of them (i mostly play the center map) and have to use the destroywilddinos command to get things to redistribute so i dont find a lack of dinos I find the opposite quite often the caves are impossible due to the sheer volume of them and they seem to never stop.   On the surface things seem okay maybe sometimes lack of variety.   Unfortunately with the caves being unusable due to the insane number of dinos in some areas its hard to tell.

found one stuffed with bears the other day ^^

I am sooo happy someone is finally taking notice. I only play single player on PC and have felt ignored with all the spawn issues for months now. There has not been 1 spawn in ANY cave of the 3 caves I've found. Even after  a destroywilddinos wipe inside or out of the cave. Finally had to start using modded maps to see anything (Which is sad). Love the modded maps out there so it was fine but would love the regular map to work right. Seen many with this same issue. Sure wish the predator behavior was fixed. why attack and eat EVERYTHING in sight when they just ate a bronto?

Also no spawns of Giga's or Procoptodon at all anywhere either. Don't mind on the Giga's (lol)

PLEASE say there is an update or fix coming soon!!!

I have to do dino wipes to get all the dinos to respawn. But it's really not consistent. Some species seem to respawn without issue, others not so much. Parasaurs have taken over herbivore island and respawn readily around the map. Dodos, dilos and pteras respawn as well. The large carnivores don't, or not often. Neither do trikes or stegos. Trilobites are all but gone. The snow area is covered in wolves. On the coast where the beach meets the snow biome only ankylos will respawn and maybe a doed. On herbivore island I can do a lap and kill all the parasaurs then do a second lap and they have all mostly respawned. But no trikes, ankylos, brontos or stegos. Last night it seemed a small wave of dinos respawned along the coast, a couple trikes, brontos, pegos, troodons, dodos and dilos. I've been killing everything lately to feed a hoard of babies. But I have to range out farther and farther. Diplos seem to respawn, but not kapros in the swamps. Or frogs.

I'm on PS4

I haven't had any issues with dino spawning in Single player, but there are so many bugs when I play splitscreen with my gf (PS4), it needs some serious optimization, especially the UI. With every new update it feels like devs are completely ignoring split screen issues, which is such a shame because this has been the game me and my gf have spent the most hours on and both thoroughly love playing together. With that said, amazing game and I've at least got my money's worth, so kudos to Wildcard!

Side note: Can anyone confirm if playing on PS4 Pro in split screen runs better than the standard PS4??

I've played single player since it came out on the xbox.

I don't have problems with lack of spawning (except in caves) but lots of problems with over-spawning. Anky's are bad on the mountains and Ptera's flood the Redwoods (where my base is). I counted once, and just in the area around the small lake were 43 Ptera's. I run destroywilddinos once or twice a week when it starts to lag out my base (which doesn't have a ton of structures since it's single player), and occasionally destroy just all the Pteras.

Otherwise I don't have any problems with spawning.

Also, I love this game! By far it is the game that has the most hours and most enjoyment out of, and that's really saying something :)

PS4. Hello Jat and Dev Team, it seems that many of us suffer from the same issues. The caves are sometimes empty or in other cases there's too many creatures and turns the game into a lag fest, other times specifically in The Center the cave dwellers spawn above ground creating another lag fest. Regarding Dino spawns there are zones in the map where only a couple spawn, others in which there's no dinos and others where there are only one species of dino and in vast numbers. IMO the spawn system should be overhauled meaning no more spawn weights. My suggestion is to create better ecosystems and limit each dino/creature to certain zones in specific numbers making sure there's always that quantity available in that area. An example: Southern Islets, lets say you limit that area with 20 parasuaurs, 3 diplos, 10 pteras, 12 dilos, and a pack of 10 raptors, if you kill three raptors there will be only 7 of them in that area until three more respawn making that pack a maximum of 10 raptors. This would make the game much more immersive and would turn every corner of the island into a diverse ecosystem, rewarding the player by exploring certain areas of the map to tame or hunt a specific dinos. This way the whole map will never be populated by the same species of dinos in excessive numbers.

Hey guys!

Just have a question for those who play exclusively on Single Player, whether it's PC, Xbox, or PS4:

Have you ever noticed a situation where there is a serious lack of Wild Dinos or that they stop respawning?

Let me know what your experiences are like. We're currently focusing a lot on single player and fixing a number of bugs related to it, and this is something that is in our pipeline for player dedicated (on console) but we want to see whether it occurs on Single Player too. So far we haven't had many reports about it to indicate that.

 Just a few I saw(Xbox)

  • Raptors on the island.. To much of them and they all roam the carno island
  • Carno island cave has no cave dinos in it
  • Seems to be to much dilos, compys, and dodos.

Urgent bugs & suggestions below.

Since this is up, will it be possible to make single player difficult? It seems to be very easy in terms of surviving. (Once you have a base, few dinos-like 5-, and a flyer you're pretty much finished.. No more worries. I had 5 dilos and I wiped the carno island-no dino settings change-) Maybe making these options can help with this: Turn on herbs attack tamed dinos, lowering tame dinos stats, increase wild dino stats and lower it when tamed, fix the breeding waiting time: 24 hours is to long on singleplayer, same with maturing, hatching, etc: Shouldn't need a setting for that, fix plants glitching, making plants grow faster and have more plant foods. Also imprinting should also be lowered because that's impossible for single player.

Single player and ark really needs to be more harder in general and no need to change settings; feels like cheating for me. Making an official single player that can only have hardcore options like the ones I listed above? +If two people use the same xbox, the single player settings will be changed for both players? (If one changes it then it will change for the other) Sorry if this was off topic but this seems like the only way to get it out. If you make a thread on this then I'll be glad to share thoughts :)

On PS4 SP, Caves are completely barren minus the larger systems which only spawn in creatures on the way out. As far as other creature spawns, everything is fine at first but if you don't admin command destroywilddinos every day or so, certain dinos take over areas. IE nothing but parasuars in a lot of areas, only raptors on carno island. Ankys dominating the mountains. Also some areas will be completely void of life, while other areas have huge groups of the same dino spawning only. Dire wolves and pigs completely take over the snow biome, its insane the number some of the packs reach. Penguins just don't spawn at all in the snow as well, to make ghillie suits i have to admin them in. Would be nice to be able to get organic poly for ghillie and moschops tames.

The most memorable one is that, when I do a Dino wipe, spines spawn.  After I kill them, they don't respawn.  So at least in that situation, yes, I notice it.  I think it has to do with the balance in populations.  It gets off after I go on a killing spree.

I wonder if ark could make a setting to disable certain dinos from spawning? Like if I wanted to disable bugs because their pointless(at least for me).. This will allow other dinos to spawn)

I play Xbox one since day one but played single player mostly and I noticed a lot of problems on all three arks so for

The Island: Herby Island will spawn a lot of paras, Redwoods pteras, Alphas become nearly non existent, trilobites hardly spawn, Equus don't spawn much or on herby island guessing to the paras, The Snow Biome wolves need to be tuned down a bit, Caves still don't anything til I'm leaving, Carno Island raptors need tuned down a bit, Kairuku aren't spawning on icbergs which makes it hard to find them, Archas in general are very rare if not ever spaning to me atleast, Finally Where ever it is on any map nothing really spawns around where I decide to set up shop literally everything  Just goes out of render distance and may not see them again til I venture out to look. Quetz have less spawns now than they did b4 bc at the most I could find 6 on the map if lucky usually 5 but now I found 2 that's it no more than that.

The Center: Quetz haven't spawned at all looked everywhere not a one I noticed b4 less spawned after a new dino was added but thought nothing of it. Daeodons have fewer spawns bc I found 2 diferent packs one had 3 in it the other had 5 which I had to kill bc I was escorting a mammoth and anky bc to base on foot. Half Burnt Island has raptors after everything else dies, Giant Bees are impossible tames bc they book it as I get there b4 destroying the hive or fly up too high for me reach or over water, Paras tend to over spawn a lot bc I have problems finding iguanadons, Alphas spawns decline overtime, Huge amount of lag by the river that's by the entrance to the underworld, Dilos over spawn in the swamp same with titanboas causing major lag, The jungle south cave has bugs over spawning outside the cave causing lag and frame drop.

Scorched Earth:  Spawns in general have changed used to have an abundance of dinos to tame/kill etc... Now dinos aren't to abundant I have venture far and wide for tames, Raptors aren't in short supply by my base however,Equus are hard to find bc they either eaten by rrators, wolves, terror birds, etc...

That's all I can remember from my experience hope it helps narrow down the problems. I know others are having the same if not more or less issues.

Thanks for listening to the little people

Xbox, single player.

sometimes it can take hours for an area to repopulate after killing everything (meat runs)

quite often when the do finally respawn it will mostly be a lot of one type, ankylo for example.

Caves take hours to respawn in my experience.

Still haven't seen a wild Equus.

Xbox Player dedicated has an ankylo spawn issue also, wipe an area of carnivores and come back to an anky party.

Ability to tweak spawn rates of specific dinos would be a handy slider to have in single player.

We all hate pegomastax so turning them down a bit would be groovy

Yes!

It's gone... My Ark Survivor experience for the past 4 months is gone... . My Rex farm. My bronto farm,  all my beautiful mutated thylas that I spent too many hours on, my 5 hours perfect tame lvl 100 Mosa, my favorite Argent is gone perfect tame.  All my crops and kibble gone

Logged on to Ark today on single player and it brought me up to the spawn map, I get on and my lvl 90 character is still there and looks like her regular old self with long hair and her usual stats but my bases and all of my dinos and time well-spent structures are gone. :(

What did change was all of the skins stuffs that I never had before We're in my inventory

Is this a bug because I know that I did NOT delete a thing I saved at one of my bases before heading to bed last night

Please tell me that this is a bug that can be fixed I litterally don't want to restart again just to lose everything again

Help

PS4 Singleplayer needs a lot of work done to splitscreen.

1. The latest patch just made it so the resources gathered/dinos killed etc. doesn't show anywhere on the screen at all.

2. There are lots of issues with one player's actions on their controller (especially in menus) will mess with the other player's menu and screen.

3. This includes when player 1 goes to paint something player 2's menu disappears till player 1 closes the paint menu.

4. If there is anyway to make typing a separate screen thing that is a necessary change as its is now one person brings up the text menu and the other player loses all control still walking or screen spinning out of control.

5. There seems to be no way to paint yourself if you are a solo player

6. Don't seem to be getting any of the rewards for already earned achievements.
