  1. I've received a mastercraft Anky saddle and a beaver with 46 points into oxygen out of my two attempts. There's good stuff to be had, but I suspect the odds require that we try many times.
  2. So it's about the same as every on-line game?
  3. It's not very intuitive. You have to check the player server box, type the full name (or maybe partial name) in the search box and then hit enter for it to show up. I suspect it has some weird thing about capitalization too, so I made mine all lower case (and one word) to eliminate any possible issues. If you don't have a password on your server, the 'open' command will get you there too.
  4. Maybe I'm just unlucky (or lucky?), but I've found two of them in the central cave. One damn near killed my Sabertooth.
  5. Got it working. Enter this console command when you're looking at the server list: Ark.UseServerList 0 It took a couple tries, but eventually it showed my server.
  6. Same problem here. I wouldn't bother messing around with moving it to a non-dedi server. If it's a widespread problem (which it appears to be) there'll be a fix soon. I tried connecting with the open command. It found my server, but rejected my password (which I know is correct). Not sure if that would've worked prior to 32.19.
  7. What's the problem with cryopods? I haven't seen them yet, and I'm assuming they're only on a test server.
  8. Na, we're just waiting for the Tek Lawnmower. You have to defeat the Lawn Titan to get the tekgram and you can only use sheep for the fight.
  9. The biggest annoyance I find is the tall grass making it hard to see anything. I suspect the grass along with the new vegetation animations aren't helping the framerates. Turning off the clouds helped my framerate enormously though. Now if they could just fix that annoying rubberbanding that appeared with one of the patches a few weeks ago.
  10. I'm not sure there's anything new for ASA there -- the Island always had thick vegetation. This could be good news for framerates on SE. No greenery to render there.
  11. It's really too bad the game's launch came with bugs and Nitrado issues. The visuals are nice, and there's a lot of smaller details that make the game better. Improvements to the building system, better egg and poop collection, and simpler distribution of water and power all are nice. I'm also thrilled that I can build a massive base and I don't have to wait 5 minutes for it to render in. Those things aren't going to be worth the price to everybody, but I have no problem paying a few bucks to get them. If only we could get the worst of the bugs fixed.
  12. Yea, the new system for water and power distribution is a huge improvement. I also like the changes to the building system, with the way that structures fit together better and have snapping options. Stackable foundations would've been nice, but maybe they'll add that at some point.
  13. Set your server up for RCON (it's in the guide somewhere) and download ARKon from http://rusty.sadface.co.uk/download/ARKon/ARKon.zip. Somewhere in the wiki you'll find a bunch of commands that are useful. The ones to shut down the server are saveworld followed by doexit.
  14. I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure, but the verdict in the server section is that it does work. The wiki was written for ASE. That bit of text could be a leftover that hasn't been updated.
  15. Nope, you can do that right now. Initially they required us to buy a copy, but now you can run the server with an anonymous login (no purchase required). The instructions are here: https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_server_setup
  16. There's a thread on making crossplay in the server admin section. Seems like it works without any additional config required:
  17. Interesting. I didn't know that existed in ASE. Since you already have an extra PC, you can set up a Steam server for ASA and configure it to allow connections from consoles (the multihome setting I believe). After an initial fuss they let us create servers with an anonymous login, which means you don't have to buy an extra copy.
  18. It's a good idea, but it doesn't work for me. My framerate dropped to an unplayable 20-40 (it was 60-110) and there were some graphical glitches, like most parts of the obelisks not being visible. On the plus side, it didn't crash. RTX3080 here.
  19. They don't need eyes. There's a radar and a tree-jumping targeting computer in there.
  20. I'd prefer to have the worst of the bugs fixed (particularly the inventory crash and the glitchy movement) before SE comes out.
  21. It's either broken or the file format is a mystery to everybody. I've tried using steam id numbers and the internal id numbers that ASA uses to identify players. I've also tried formatting it identically to the ban list. None of those worked.
  22. Traversing the Island's rivers on a raft has always been more of a pain than it's worth, or at least it was in ASE. I'd always be stopping to break a rock or something that was obstructing the raft. Some other maps did have rivers that were more raft-able, but I only have miserable memories of it from the Island.
  23. I don't think they'll lose many players. In a few months, the devs will have fixed the worst of the bugs. We'll still be here complaining about the ones they haven't fixed, but we'll also be playing the game despite them, just like we did with ASE.
  24. Are we talking about the inventory crash, or anything that'll cause the game to quit? For me (nvidia) the inventory crash is 99% of the problem.
