Can't say I've ever had that problem either, but a simple fix would be to have Troodons ignore armor on players they've knocked out.

Am I missing something with DLC release dates and ARK 2?
zero064 replied to jackhorn01's topic in General Discussion
I haven't heard anything about Ark 2 lately, and I wouldn't be surprised if we're still playing ASA long after October of 2024. -
On PC you have to load the bait with the rod in your inventory and then move the rod to your hotbar.

Hey WildCard, nVidia crashing is still a thing

Stop bragging, lol. -
There are weird things that happen around the volcano. There's a zone from somewhere near the bottom to three-quarters of the way up the top where it's like I'm in a cave. I can't see any supply crates and much of the surrounding vegetation disappears. I don't know if it's a widespread bug, as I haven't seen anybody else have that problem.

Some server updates are for official only. I didn't even bother with this one. The patch notes just say 'Performance Optimization' which means it's probably designed for the large populations that official servers get.

DEVS? Will performance remain the same in future?

That's not going to be a popular position, but I think you're right. One of the problems with Snail's business model is that users only pay once for the game (and a few more one-time payments if they buy expansion maps), and then Snail is on the hook for the costs of running the servers until it shuts them down. Having said that, I don't think money will solve the present problems. The servers are running badly because of issues that are more technical than financial in nature. I suppose if Snail had more money it could've taken the time to test them properly before releasing the game, although I'm betting they'd have relied on real-world testing anyway. -
If it's on your own server there's a field in your .arkprofile file that has your name. Don't ask me what happens if you edit that field, but that's where I'd start. Back up everything first in case it goes horribly wrong.

Sounds like an easy way to trap a dino. I wonder if you get a high-level spawn if you're super naughty.
-
If a tribe has a limited number of pylons, then it can only build in so many areas. In theory, it'd solve the problem. In practice, I'm sure somebody would find a way to break the system.

I've received a mastercraft Anky saddle and a beaver with 46 points into oxygen out of my two attempts. There's good stuff to be had, but I suspect the odds require that we try many times.
-
So it's about the same as every on-line game?
-
It's not very intuitive. You have to check the player server box, type the full name (or maybe partial name) in the search box and then hit enter for it to show up. I suspect it has some weird thing about capitalization too, so I made mine all lower case (and one word) to eliminate any possible issues. If you don't have a password on your server, the 'open' command will get you there too.

Maybe I'm just unlucky (or lucky?), but I've found two of them in the central cave. One damn near killed my Sabertooth.

Dedicated Server not showing in list after 32.19 client update
zero064 replied to Fox1's topic in General Discussion
Got it working. Enter this console command when you're looking at the server list: Ark.UseServerList 0 It took a couple tries, but eventually it showed my server. -

Same problem here. I wouldn't bother messing around with moving it to a non-dedi server. If it's a widespread problem (which it appears to be) there'll be a fix soon. I tried connecting with the open command. It found my server, but rejected my password (which I know is correct). Not sure if that would've worked prior to 32.19. -
What's the problem with cryopods? I haven't seen them yet, and I'm assuming they're only on a test server.

Na, we're just waiting for the Tek Lawnmower. You have to defeat the Lawn Titan to get the tekgram and you can only use sheep for the fight.

The biggest annoyance I find is the tall grass making it hard to see anything. I suspect the grass along with the new vegetation animations aren't helping the framerates. Turning off the clouds helped my framerate enormously though. Now if they could just fix that annoying rubberbanding that appeared with one of the patches a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure there's anything new for ASA there -- the Island always had thick vegetation. This could be good news for framerates on SE. No greenery to render there.

ARK: Survival Ascended - Device Driver Hung - Possible Workaround

Didn't work for me (RTX 3080 here). -
I've been overly critical about Ark, but wow
zero064 replied to Eskwyre's topic in General Discussion
It's really too bad the game's launch came with bugs and Nitrado issues. The visuals are nice, and there's a lot of smaller details that make the game better. Improvements to the building system, better egg and poop collection, and simpler distribution of water and power all are nice. I'm also thrilled that I can build a massive base and I don't have to wait 5 minutes for it to render in. Those things aren't going to be worth the price to everybody, but I have no problem paying a few bucks to get them. If only we could get the worst of the bugs fixed. -
Yea, the new system for water and power distribution is a huge improvement. I also like the changes to the building system, with the way that structures fit together better and have snapping options. Stackable foundations would've been nice, but maybe they'll add that at some point.

ASA Microsoft Version: No dedicated server?
zero064 replied to SXS14's topic in Xbox Dedicated Server Discussions
Set your server up for RCON (it's in the guide somewhere) and download ARKon from http://rusty.sadface.co.uk/download/ARKon/ARKon.zip. Somewhere in the wiki you'll find a bunch of commands that are useful. The ones to shut down the server are saveworld followed by doexit. -
ASA Microsoft Version: No dedicated server?

I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure, but the verdict in the server section is that it does work. The wiki was written for ASE. That bit of text could be a leftover that hasn't been updated.
