  • ARK at E3: Release Date, Pre-Order, Ragnarok, Griffin, & Xbox One X!

    Hello, Survivors! :Jerbhi:

We have some very exciting news to share with you all today! :Jerblove:

ARK: Survival Evolved has entered its final phase of core production, and will hit worldwide retail and digital release on August the 8th, 2017 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Mac, and Linux.

    large.593ee5fb07123_SteamARKKeyArt.jpg

The past two years have been one heck of a journey! Millions of ARK players worldwide have built gigantic bases, captured and trained armies of dinosaurs, crafted armories full of weapons and eaten billion of pounds of berries. With your help, we're now about to reach the completion of core content for ARK: Survival Evolved and release the full game to the world!

That was just the beginning; now we'll be entering the next phase of our journey. Players who have been with us throughout this early access program and were excited with the launch of each update, have even more reason to be excited! ARK is going to become even more fun with surprise new content at launch and beyond, as we continue to have a massive amount of additional gameplay, creatures, and story elements in the works.

    Pre-Orders and Limited Collector’s Edition!

There are three ways to get your dino-fix with ARK: Survival Evolved, all of which are now available to pre-order for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

    ARK: Survival Evolved ($59.99 USD)

    large.593ee5f2e7eda_BaseGame.jpg

This base game includes everything a burgeoning Jurassic adventurer needs to get started in the world of ARK. It's the core game, and all free content released up to this point, offering up hundreds of hours of gameplay to players.

ARK: Survival Evolved - Explorer's Edition ($99.99 USD)

    large.593ee5f7124a4_ExplorersEdition.jpg

The Explorer's Edition takes the base game and adds even MORE - introducing a Season Pass that will grant access to all expansion packs, starting with Scorched Earth (available now) and including more packs launching later this year and into 2018.

ARK: Survival Evolved - Limited Collector's Edition ($159.99 USD)

    large.593ee604ad622_LimitedCollectorsEdition.jpg

The ultimate ARK fan's dream, the limited Collector's Edition is a collectible faux-wooden chest box that contains the ARK Explorer’s Edition (base game + Season Pass) along with...

    • A handcrafted leather-bound Explorer's Notebook, featuring the Dossiers of every in-game creature
    • An official ARK necklace
    • A cloth map of the ARK island
    • A poster of the Studio Wildcard development team
    • The official ARK: Survival Evolved soundtrack, recorded live at Abbey Road with the Philharmonia Orchestra
    • Manufactured by Triforce, the best designer of high-quality video game collectibles!

As of now, picking up this package is the only way to get the exclusive bonus items, however, if we’re able to sell out the initial stock, we will order another set that includes all of the above, minus the game. The reason we’re not able to do this currently is due to the high cost of producing these physical products.

Visit www.playark.com now to pre-order ARK: Survival Evolved and get your hands on the Limited Collector's Edition!

Introducing a new Official Mod: Ragnarok, available now on Steam and July 4 on consoles!

We're excited to announce the first mod to be integrated into ARK: Survival Evolved as part of its ARK Sponsored Mods Program! Developed by the former creators of popular ARK mods Valhalla and Umassoura; David Miller, Matt Janz, and Jackson Lawrence came together to work on their latest project, “Ragnarok” which is being released today for Steam players as a free DLC Official Expansion ARK, and will be shortly making its way to consoles in July. Global Cross-ARK and isolated Official Ragnarok servers will be available for you to make your new home. Note that Ragnarok is still in primary development, and so it will continue to expand with updates over time.

    large.ARK_RagnarokTitle.png

    Steam players download “Ragnarok” now!

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/642250/Ragnarok__ARK_Expansion_Map

    The new map will contain:

    • A 144 sq kilometer map designed to be explored by land, sea or air
    • Tons of harvest-able or gatherable resources
    • Caves of all shapes and sizes, each designed to be built in
    • Distinct variations on former ARK creatures, as well a special brand-new creature unique to Ragnarok
    • Build tree platforms on unique trees/rocks
    • Expansive biomes that were built to reward hardy explorers
    • Some of the most challenging dungeons in ARK will await players
    • An active volcano that while erupting yields a high amount of resources in the form of lava crystal
    • Beautiful vistas and base locations as far as the eye can see
    • Hot springs that while dormant yield a relaxing buff, but when active, become dangerous
    • Ruins to not only explore but that can also be incorporated into base builds
    • A vast ocean with its own ecosystem
    • Upcoming future desert biome to find and tame creatures
    • Upcoming Explorer Notes that hold the key to Ragnarok's secrets and history

    Introducing the Griffin!

    large.Dossier_Griffin.jpg

A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone's favourite gallant glider, the Griffin!

    Common name: Griffin
    Species: Gryphon Magnificum
    Time: Unknown
    Diet: Carnivore
    Temperament: Aggressive

    Wild

Gryphon Magnificum is undoubtedly a sight to behold. Many ancient myths tell of various depictions of the Griffin over the ages, but what is never disputed is its majestic and mysterious nature. With the front half of an eagle and the back half of a lion, it is as if these two creatures somehow fused together to form a superior land and air predator.

    large.593ee5f8cd1af_GryphonMagnificum.jpg

While one's first instinct might be to approach the creature and marvel at its beauty, that would be a very poor decision. Its range of attacks makes it one of the more versatile predators I’ve witnessed. If its presence alone isn't enough to intimidate potential hunters, it has the ability to dive from the sky to the ground with such force that it inflicts damage to anyone unfortunate enough to be below it, or carry its momentum back into a rapid uplift.

    Domesticated

The idea of pacifying such a beast is nothing to scoff at. It's highly independent nature and disinterest with interacting with humans combined with its power and strength make the Griffin a challenge to domesticate. However, there have been those who are fearless enough to attempt and succeed at this miraculous feat. Once tamed, riding atop a Griffin along with a tribemate passenger, dashing through the air at high speeds, is a prize in and of itself.

Xbox One X, Crossbuy, and Crossplay!

We were also excited to unveil that this November, ARK will be a Launch Title on the Xbox One X! We are currently aiming to have the game performing on the EPIC Settings at 60 FPS, with every graphical effect including TrueSky. With this, we’re also excited to reveal that the game will be ready on Xbox Play Anywhere, so Xbox Owners will be able to play ARK on whichever platform they own, be it a Windows 10 PC, Xbox One, or the Xbox One X. This will also allow us to introduce crossplay between the 3 platforms! Keep in mind that this is a retroactive crossbuy, so if you already own ARK on the Xbox One, you automatically get it on the Xbox One X and the Windows 10 store, and will remain crossbuy going forward too! Plus as we announced yesterday, the Xbox versions and Windows 10 store version can all play together on the same servers using crossplay! So get ready to partner up with your tribemates on whichever Microsoft platform you want to survive on :)

That’s all for now guys! Thank you so much for all the support the past 2 years, and we hope you are excited as we are about the news. As always, there’s still more planned for the ARK universe, both leading up to and beyond the August 8 launch. Survivors on all platforms can look forward to a lot more going forward, so stay tuned!

Will the collectors edition stay an US exclusive? :/

I wouldn't even mind buying the game again for the full 150$, but please offer shipment to other countries!

    Ehm....

    1. You will never fix all the bugs till then

    2. You will never finish all the performance optimizations till then...so for sure it won't run on Epic on Xbox. (For example you still not understand that the floating dinos names are causing extreme performance losts!!!!)

    3. I'm aware of a few bugs which can easily crash each server out there. I do not recommend you to go live with this bugs !! And no...i will not report them again... you had enough chances and always ignored all my bugreports via tickets and in the forums!

So you are FAR away from a release guys...far away....

Will there be any exclusives (in-game or otherwise) for the many players who have already bought, played, and love ARK?

    well to start off:

1 you don't know what they are planning and the fact that these bugs and issue are easily fixable plus they have plenty of time to fix them along with optimizations

2 don't speak of something you know nothing about, coding and programming is complex within itself but i have trust WC can and will get this done and handled

3 as far as cross play for steam and windows 10 version i think it may still be cross playable within the server list in game instead of through steams server browser UI of course this is a theory i am gonna test as soon as i get the chance.

    4. collector's edition for PC may come at a later time since alot of games release a PC collectors edition later down the line

5 oh and the fact that it was mentioned that updates will continue even after the release date so i'm sure they will have everything fine tuned by aug 8th and then some afterwards

While everything looks so amazing, I wonder what bonuses Early Access Players will get? It wouldn't be fair to leave us out of any bonuses the Pre-Orders get.

I also wonder what amazing new content they're hinting at when the game releases.

I bought the game in June, 2015, and Scorched Earth at September 1, 2016. I need to pay full price for both after release, or part of price?

You don't have to pay anything, you keep the game and continue playing.

So if I buy the Xbox version and I get a Windows 10 copy with it, can I use that PC version to play with people that are playing on windows computers using the Steam version that they bought during the Early Access?  Is that also considered PC version?

I don't think there's been any further decisions on SOTF development at this point. I suspected any decision would come after release, and not necessarily immediately after either.

Would really like to get this but I don't think I can due to the fact we don't have game stop in the UK bit unfair to make it an exclusive to some one whom don't have shops across the whole world at least you could have allowed game store In the UK have rights to sell as well

It isn't exclusive to one retailer.

After reading all of the people complaining about bugs and optimization, I have to wonder how many people actually read the patch notes. Because if they have read the patch notes, they would already know that the first round of optimization has already been done. Which would mean these individuals should clamp their traps. If all that is being done is fixes(of which we have provided a rather detailed list) and optimizing, I would say that at least the most impactful(frustrating, annoying, gamebreaking) bugs will be patched and optimization done to the point where we won't readily notice lingering optimization issues. Is it going to be perfect? No, but two plus months is a lot of polish time.

Meanwhile, it would be nice if us EA folks at least had the option to get the CE stuff, for a price of course.

You mean that patch when you can again duped c4 ? Good job WC. I am just curios what happen when there will be still issue with lost/stuck/death dinos or even worse another duped method. Will be there wipe every month or how they will solve this. Because now I still know some people who can duped dino in very big lagy base

PS: what about linux ? This game is still unplayable in this platform because of artifact(not game artifact) in cave/deep ocean

There aren't even close to that many bugs, stop exaggerating to prove your point. They can do it since it is the major focus for the next two months

Two months in optimizations and bug fixing with so many content and mechanics is like saying you gonna climb Everest after lunch and be back for dinner, which you'll bring. What i don't like about this news is the set-in-stone date which i hope is not the case, cause it is not gonna make it as polished as it should, and if you stayed around you know how it is with eta's and bugs after every update.

So to me it would be fatal for Ark to release the game unfinished after all this, critics would eat it alive and people would bury it. I do not want that to happen that is all.

@Jat It might be to late to fix it, but when you look at the game box cover you can see that Utahraptor's lower jaw is way too short compering to upper jaw making the head looking very disproportional.

Ok, since nobody is answering about the wipe-question there ist at least one statement from Kayd Hendricks, the senior technical game play designer of wild card.

Fore weeks ago gave an interview (05/16/2017). You can read the essentials here

Short version: Hendricks is for a total wipe on release, but he states, that is is not his decision alone.

Anyhow, a wipe is definitely on the table. If they had already decided not to do one, they could just answer our question.

    This leaves two scenarios:

    a) They have not decided yet if they will wipe

    b) They have already decided to do an wipe, but they don't want to cloud the big release announcement by telling us, that all our poop will be lost.

In my opinion – but that is just what i think – it is scenarios b. When you think about it, we all have already payed for the game. They don't lose much if we leave. But they really need to get new players. And that will be harder if we already sit on our tek gear and lev 250 gigas.

So my best guess would be: When they had their release hype, they will announce a total wipe for the release date. And than they will hope, that the free DLC softens the blow enough to keep some of us hocked. And I don't blame them. Economically it's the best decision and at the end somebody will be pissed. So why not go for the money. It's what I would do.

Edit: Tried to add the links

Oh they will lose much. They plan to release 2 expansion packs + season pass through next 1- 1,5 year, we are the main target for those expansions. We are the most willing group to buy those DLCs. As for today around 38 000 potential customers only on Steam. If they made many people leave, they would feel that when they release those DLCs on the market.

Also what free DLC would soften the PR blow? The only free DLC we got is Ragnarok and there is none else planned. Even ridiculously increased rates on EA servers won't soften PR blow, because people wouldn't feel like to start over again. They did a huge mistake by not stating once and for all when they entered EA, what they are going to do with servers after the premiere.

By the way, before the E3 there was announcement regarding the incerase of the price for both console and PC verison of the game. That was suppoused to be explained during E3 conference directly, but it was not in the end.

There are more bugs than people realise.. for Eg, the Lighting in the Island is still completely shipwrecked. Look into the clear sky as it changes from day, to dusk, to night and to dawn. there is a visible lighting feature they haven't sorted out yet. Also glare is a major issue i find as well in the lighting. there should be a glare setting so that u can reduce this somewhat.. i refuse to build in metal buildings due to this.

These are just 2 of the many i have found and know of with Ark. I hope to god my partner is right and that they are actually 50 updates ahead of us and not showing the actual game in release state cause as much as i love the game and i prob will keep playing even through the physics and lighting issues, it is not release ready as far as this alpha tester is concerned...

I have a question for the devs, do you know what the issue is with Xbox dedicated server list and how most of us can not see our servers listed? Also the only work around is the gamer tag. My friends list is over 500 friends but only 10 people play on it. It is a pain to add and send invites. And it is even more of a pain trying to remove these players off the friend list while the game is running. So when to you think you will have the connection issue fixed for those who run dedicated servers on Xbox. Oh and I am using the slim so can't say it is the old tech Xbox one. All the ports have been forward for it. I also submitted a ticket and also the ticket was not answered. Over a month now on the ticket.

Cannot speak for other platforms, but for PC, there is an option in the menu to turn off Bloom and Lightrays; might not be the exact names, but they are in there.  Before that, you could do it with some complex INI settings or just use the r.bloomquality and r.lightrays console commands when you first login in to a server.

I haven't had an issue with glare and such for at least 1 and 1/2 years (probalby longer).
