  1. Patch 233 welcomes a new friend to the ARK, it’ll come as no surprise to survivors that the Gallimimus has been often been described as being chicken-like, with it’s extremely skittish behaviour, looking nervous even when eating! The speedy herbivore makes its way onto the ARK with no natural way to defend itself except for running away. Thankfully the Gallimimus may very well be the fastest dinosaur on the ARK, it's strength, endurance, and speed of its legs allow it to ferry up to 3 Survivors in a specially-designed Saddle! Today’s update adds an enormous amount of content and optimization, including: SWAT-style Assault Armor for all your raiding needs! Greenhouse structure pieces to aid survivors in growing crops The shockingly powerful Electric Prod easily capable of knocking you out. Improved save-game and save-and-load times for your ARKs! We’ve also added special name tags and custom hat skins for: Wildcard Admin Teams, Wildcard Non-Admin Team, Authorized External Testers, and Dev Kit Masters! You’ll be able to identify who they are on your ARK! Testers are given an exclusive Account-Bound cosmetic to indicate their much appreciated helpfulness, extra useful to wear when testing something!! You can apply here to become an Official ARK Tester today! Humble Store Sale! Survivors, for those of you who don't have ARK or has a friend who would like to purchase the game - we're now available on the Humble Store at a discounted price of 40%! 2. Common Name: Titanosaur Species: Titanosaurus Vagacastrum Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Passive, unless approached Wild Today I witnessed an unforgettable sight. The extremely rare ‘Titanosaurus Vagacastrum’. Essentially a walking mountain, it is an absolutely enormous sauropod which has developed armored plates of bone protrusions all over its body. Between these plates and its unparalleled size, Titanosaurus is extremely difficult to put down. In addition, Titanosaurus seems outright immune to any sort of narcotic effects. They often inadvertently crush nearby creatures underfoot with every step they take. Whilst most Sauropods ignore non-hostile creatures, Titanosaurs take issue with creatures invading its personal space. This is probably because they aggressively feed off any and all plants they can find. Titanosaurus eats constantly, which certainly helps recover health quickly, even after fighting off numerous carnivores such as Giganotosaurus. Domesticated I suspect that a Titanosaur, for all its sheer size, is overkill for a lone rider. Rather, for those elite tribes powerful enough to bend one of these titans to their will, the epic creature is employed as a mobile superfortress, capable of ferrying obscene amounts of weight, structures, defenses, and creatures across the island. Some nomadic tribes even have their main base on their back of a Titanosaur! Humble Bundle Sale! 4. The ARK is getting a unique new denizen today: the hip hopping Procoptodon, essentially a gigantic prehistoric Kangaroo. Carrying up to TWO passengers, in a first for ARK creatures, the Procoptodon is able to cover great distances and leap over obstacles with ease, while the pouch-bound passenger is able to make fully effective use of all weaponry while riding! In addition, ARK: Survival Evolved Steam players are invited to ring in 2016 on the ARK! Starting today at 12 PM EST a gigantic New Year’s Eve ball will descend from the heavens through to January 1 at midnight EST. When it finally hits the ground, a fantastic surprise will be revealed for all Survivors who are on their ARK at that time! It's been a thrilling six months on the ARK, and Studio Wildcard wishes all Survivors a Happy New Year! Thank you to all our players and content creators for helping to make ARK such a success!

  5. Survivors! We’re thrilled to announce the first challenge of the new year! Following the success of the previous Mod Contest and the fantastic entries we saw, we wanted to do it again - but this time, bigger, louder, and uncut We’re’ putting ARK content creators’ abilities to the test with a new ‘ARK: Survival Evolved Worldwide Mod Contest’! Whether you’re designing a new diverse ARK, nifty new items, your very own creatures, or spectacularly fresh gameplay mode - we want to see it all! Unlike the previous contest, contestants anywhere in the world will be able to submit their workshop items to one of three distinct categories: ‘Mods’, ‘Maps’, and ‘Total Conversions’ - with a total of over $60,000 in cash up for grabs! Full details are here. We welcome modders of new and old to get involved in the contest and show us that you’ve got what it takes to create the most impressive mod of 2016! To start developing your ARK mod, use the ARK Dev Kit, a streamlined version of the UE4 Editor, to simplify the creation and sharing process of ARK: Survival Evolved which is available to download now for free via the Epic Games Launcher at www.unrealengine.com. All entries must be submitted here before March 15, 2016, and the winners in each category will be announced on April 15, 2016 after finalist voting, spotlight, and judging rounds. Mod Contest Prizing Fifteen (15) prizes will be awarded. 1st through 5th places for each category (Best Mod, Best Map, and Best Total Conversion): 1st Place: $10,000 in each category 2nd Place: $5,000 in each category 3rd Place: $3,000 in each category 4th Place: $2,000 in each category 5th Place: $1,000 in each category So good luck to all Survivors who enter, we simply cannot wait to see what you cook up! (Existing Mods/Maps/TC’s and previous Contest winners are, of course, welcome to enter!) Spotlight: Dimetrodon & Dung Beetle! Say hello to the adaptable carnivore! The Dimetrodon offers players shade during excessive heat and shelter from extreme cold by way of the massive insulating sail running down its back. It’s regarded as one of the friendly creatures to survivors and can be found roaming the swamplands that are plentiful with small prey. The Dung Beetle is a wondrous organic biofactory that eats excrement and other useless waste to then metabolize and produce burnable oil that can power generators and fertilize crops! Regarded as the perfect tame for cleaning up around the tribe’s dino-pen. Version 232 also introduces craftable Beer Kegs for making tasty brews, with various status enhancing effects, however the subsequent ‘hangover’ effects are not so pleasant!

  6. Common Name: Chalicotherium Species: Chalicotherium Obsidioequus Time: Late Oligocene - Early Pliocene Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Territorial Wild Found in small numbers within the Island’s colder regions, Chalicotherium Obsidioequus is normally a peaceful herbivore that prefers to spend its days lazing about or playing with its family. It is very territorial, however, and the entire family, young and old, will turn against an encroaching creature at just the slightest provocation. A strange scene to stumble upon is a group of Chalicotherium playing. One odd playtime activity for Chalicotherium is hurling large balls of snow or mud-rocks at each other. Small creatures in the area shy away from Chalicotherium during this exertion, for fear of being buried in snow or gravel. Domesticated While many creatures are useful while attacking a fortress, Chalicotherium can be trained as mobile artillery. Its unique playtime habit becomes a rather devastating long-range assault tactic when it is given boulders to throw, rather than snowballs! Humble Store Sale! 12. I've been thinking this, but then I thought sure something that size won't be knocked down in one hit with the electric prod, and if the Titan is anything like the Bronto then when you hit it once with the prod it will knock you flying with it's tail and therefore will you get close enough again to hit it?
