I wanna give 4 tips about official saves:

1) by default there are 20 automated backups. Some official saves are really BIG. This can cause some space issues. Third party server managers, like asm, offers better control for backups (zip, time interval, serializations vs parallel etc). If you use a third party solution for such backups don't for get to disabled the automated backups with -MaxNumOfSaveBackups=0

2) if you play in a cluster you may wanna add -BackupTransferPlayerDatas too : this will re-enable char backup files on transfer that -usestore removes, allowing easier char recovery in case of a crash just after a transfer and before a non-corrupt save. Note that this flag should be used on official network too and a similar behaviour is by default on unofficial (without -usestore).

3) for single player\local host, find your steam64 id (eg:1234567890), and rename your 1234567890.akrprofile and 1234567890.arktributetribe in LocalPlayer.arkprofile and LocalPlayer.arktributetribe. saves go in \ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArksLocal for the island, \ShooterGame\Saved\MapNameSavedArksLocal for other maps (ex: for Fjordur it is FjordurSavedArksLocal). if you are an epic/egs player you can find your epic-id converted to the quivalent of steam64 id in a way explained here: https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Server_configuration#Epic/EGS_players_whitelisting

4) some saves are HUGE (biggest saves requiring over 20+GBs of ram). You have deal with that. This will also cause serious fps issues on single player due different stasis mechanics from servers. The solution isn't one shoot and may consist in wiping wild tames and if this isn't enough all tames outside pods. Note that despite the command names (you can find on https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Commands) this will kill your own dinos outside pods, incouding stryders, mek, skiffs and rafts. The same may be needed to do for foliage and resources. Finally, removing other tribes structures will help with both ram usage and file size, as well worldsave times. Wild tames and so also resources should later respawn slowly and in the correct way.

Why do we need a steam if we are console players? Why did it suddenly become needlessly complicated. Whatever happened to just letting us put the saves on our host now we have to buy a whole server just to save stuff that we've had for years? Please tell me they don't think this is going to appease their player base that's already on thin ice to begin with. I don't even know what to do with this I'm a console player if I wanted to play on a computer I would be a PC player. So I'm just looking at this like it's a whole other language which sucks cuz I've been saving multiple bases for a while now. And that looks like Ark is literally punishing me for my dedication to the game cuz it looks like I'm not even going to get the stuff I've been rendering for months. This just makes me think I want a refund and to get rid of the game completely versus I would have at least had a few weeks left of joy exploring the server and other people's bases but not looks like Ark has taken that too. What is the point at this point they are literally messing up at every turn they went from over 50,000 views to less than 10,000 on the community crunches alone and they're about to lose the last 10,000 that are left. It's already bad enough that they have nothing for the new game now they're turning the old game into nothing but a money grab

Lovely concept art and it is HUGE bigger than the mossa by the looks of it.

30 or so days left before sept no screenshots nothing new shown to the player base .. crumbs you really are going to open it as a EA game with more bugs that what you have just erased.

Let me get this right I cannot download the save of mine onto my PC and play single player? or is that really bad writing / understanding? because IF they are now going to say I can only play with the saves is by renting a server then why the hell have I kept my game alive since the initial reveal of asa, closure of ase?

For reference CC 355 quoting: It definitely says SP / non dedi whereas this newer post is lacking that /confused and rather miffed if thats the case

  • Official Servers: With the launch of ASA at the end of August, we will be taking down all Official Servers on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC for ARK: Survival Evolved – at that time, the final save-datas from the ARK: Survival Evolved Official Servers will be uploaded for players to re-host on their own servers or play in singleplayer/non-dedi, as well as slightly earlier snapshots. You will still be able to play on single-player, non-dedicated, player-dedicated, and unofficial servers. ARK: Survival Ascended will have its own fully supported Official Network for all platforms.

I agree 💯 why leave us hanging and losing more players on their way out. This ark 2 and asa will not be something I will play at this rate even if it hits top 5 games for PS5

The console saves should have been provided in the exact way the PC saves were provided, or at least show some ethical way that can help you and the Xbox community because how is it fair to let the community pay when you won’t pay for Nitrado servers and if you forcing it by handing everything to Nitrado the minimum you can do is do the exact way you have been dealing with them yourself.

For example you could of handed everything to the community and everyone in a server can contribute to paying Nitrado for a server they are using together instead of forcing each individual to own their own server so that same server now only is paid for. comparison to what your are doing now making people pay for exact server multiple times forcing them to basically abandon the whole game all together there are so many ways that this could of been handled what a shame Wildcard Greedy exploiting the Xbox community.

Ethical way to solve this:

1. Reduce the number of servers give players a chance to move then handover the servers they all contribute to paying Nitrado Instead of each individual paying same server multiple times.

2. Downloading each individual data of each player and providing it in a secure way through you sign up and login to your official website.

3. Make ASA Available free for people who already suffered from your abuse and exploitation.

4. Making ASA available in the Xbox Game Pass almost count as free plus the cloud gaming allows all platforms access to the best experience of the game for all old and new gens.

And this team handling Xbox deserves slaps(I recommend adding a Slap button for each of the team members with counter see who wins with most slaps) from the community they not giving the Xbox community their best look at the official club abandoned on Xbox you can do better than that with ASA.

WildCard you really know how to destroy your own best of luck for ASA hopefully we see a better and improved version of you there.

Bold of you to think people will trust them enough to play any game with their name on it at this rate

My main server save takes more than 21GB to start another is around 15-16GB. One point is: official saves can be rally big. Old gen console have like 8GB RAM, so no way to load those saves. Why there are no servers software to download on a PC allowing console players to play? I don't know, a reason could be Sony and Microsoft greedy and jealousy about their network runtimes. At the end there is the edge-case of Xbox-Microsoft Store crossplay: Microsoft store comes with a built in dedicated server and with a lil folder/filesystem permission overrides it's basically at same level of steam server (that works also with Epic  players too). Not sure why Sony saves aren't on g-portal. I bet there are some trade agreements sadly.

Well I've seen in the  comments... I already see people are having problems with these new Nitadao servers. So wild card/ snail games we are just supposed to pay $25 a month you're not giving us a way to transfer our character and everything to an undecated server or anything just pay for everything right? Problems are already arising with the save files and you haven't said one word about it. As I said before you should save some servers for the people who can't afford $25 a month.

I wonder if the game would be better if they could find a way to add an optional monthly fee somewhere.  A constant but optional flow of money could motivated them to better maintain the game and police it.  MMO have being doing this, its a good business model. Examples:
* On official, ?$ per month so you're stuff doesn't decay.
* in game purchase of something : maybe tek structures like walls, floors, ...
* In game purchase of chibis or other cosmetics gear.
The important thing is it should always be optional.

Blizzard did run their business like this, curropt, the only reason they are still alive, is that they got bought out by Microsoft. And ever since they got bought out by Microsoft, they become money stealers and current, the next week, am I right about that, it gets annoying to see a good game wasted because of a stupid company, wether that be ark or overwatch lol

Blizzard has clout. WC has consistently failed as a company for a game they pushed 7 years ago......SEVEN YEARS.......any dev worth thier gaming salt could iron out semi crinkles, but we have all been fed  "Lookie lookie, more stuff that is broken! New colors that we made up just to make sure try-hards breed and sell jazz on FB so our player count doesn't drop!"

I am honestly heart broken at the console player questions regarding "saves of your stuff" (paraphrased for time sake)....THIS is why the Wife and I chose to stop playing ARK once the sever shut down was announced. 10k dino we have worked on for years in cryo...all in a Extinction 50/40 two tier warehouse we called The Life Stream...all gone...stick it where Mercury says hello to the Moon...we are headed to Starfield 🤗🤗🤗

Please don't give bad ideas to developers.

For few $ your base do not decay, mean in PVP is indestructible.

Reason that i play ark is that it don't have in game purchase. don't have official pay to win, nft, crypto, loot boxes and similar.

Btw in game chat is already constantly trolled  by individuals who are selling top stats  tames, all resources, all crafted items, infinite amount of tek structures and entire bases. All that via discord links. You just need to have few dollars to pay and win. And if you guess why are so many areas pilared - in most cases is for future sales.

There was a time I would fully agree with a subscribtion for official.
BUT.... I already pay Sony for online acces and neither Sony nor WC is doing a good job at customer support.
Also there are other games showing neither is needed. Take Warthunder: No subscribtion, no PSN. Yes, they do sell boosters and skins but never felt the urge to buy any.
ARK however is a paid game wich I would have considdered being worth a subscription if not for their underperforming support and failing to keep promisses. As long as WC does not regain some trust I'm no longer considder paying any form of subscription for it.

If there was a form of subscription the money would go to actual developers instead of some online traders/cheaters. That money could (read: SHOULD) be used to police servers to prevent these "trolls".
The idea is not bad, it's just that WC sofar has proven not being able to support official servers to a standard that they can charge for it.

I'll agree with you.  The game had potential that many of us had previously hinted at with microtransactions.  That would help.  However, WC/SG doesn't take small bucks into account, for example, the rates on the save servers are disgustingly high.  For example, if I play with my wife, my expenses in this direction are x 2, i.e. PSN or the purchase of the game itself.  WC/SG can no longer count on my further purchases of their products (×2).  It's just not a trustworthy company.

Ark servers are MMO servers, they have nothing to do with the small maps and limited number of players you see in other online games.  There business model is flawed. Of course they cant maintain those servers for free for a game that was bought 7 years ago, its a money pit.  They need to charge a small monthly fee (2$ per month or half price if you buy an annual fee). That being said, the game price should include a 1 year free official access.

One thing i would like to see at some point on Official is an auction house at Obelisks so you can sell pod dinos or other things when offline.
