  1. Well, hopefully you put the Maevia as your #1 choice in the voting before it ended. That was roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes ago now. Winning a creature vote is obviously quite difficult. Not to mention there were a lot of other great entries for Abby, as there are in every map's creature vote. All we can do now is wait another four days to have the results shown. Then we'll see if those results are good or bad for the Maevia's cause into becoming an official creature in ARK one day.

  2. Because the forums here are too obtuse and don't actually tell you posting in off-topic doesn't get you out of early-bird, and there's a daily post limit for newbies, I wasn't able to submit my dino for Ab, but I figured I'd show it off for those who are interested

  3. [Artwork done by myself.] 🕸️Hello allies of the Ark! My submission here is a jumping spider species that is said to have lived once between 23 and 15 million years ago, and the excitement of that discovery led to its last name, eureka! I genuinely hope to see Maevia eureka find its way to Ark some day, any support for it is infinitely appreciated, please take a moment to toss it a vote if you would like to see it around in Ark! These are my thoughts on how Maevia eureka could fit into the world we play in, in a way that reflects real life jumping spiders combined with genetic modifications from other spiders, and how they might fit into Ark in a fun and meaningful way that reflects other creatures of Ark and how important each and every one of these creatures is. I felt that, as Maevia is more of a taming companion, this gives us a different way to tame creatures using a non-harmful method! As it is in Aberration, there are many risks you take while engaging with your targets due to the fact that aberration can be quite chaotic so having to be weary of your surroundings at all times is one thing, but the larger the creature, the weaker the bola... You may find yourself having to maneuver around an area and keep your targets attention while allowing for your jumper to gather enough venom to ensnare it once again. 🏞️Habitat This is a creature that is capable of being added to any map in the game due to its likeliness of living in caves, but also as jumping spiders can be found in so many different environments, there particularly are no limits to where they could be found! 🕷️Ability - Prey Lure You're out roaming around on your two equus when one of them begins to pick up an irresistible scent coming from a nearby cave wall. Your equus is nibbling on a suspended droplet when you notice the faint glinting coming off the web it's attached to, within an instant a jumper has lunged at your equus covering it with its bola and is quickly wrapping it up in its webbing, but in order to free your companion you need to tear at the webbing, as a few good hits will send that jumper scurrying up the wall to hide! 🕷️Ability - Tranq Bola The thought is that jumpers could take the droplets they store and work them into their webbing to create venom-coated webs that could be thrown like a bola. The webs would have a tranquilizing effect whenever touched, thus causing their target to build up torpor and eventually go unconscious. 🕷️Ability - Latching As a jumping spider, they have outstanding agility and the ability to crawl on walls, but at a more rapid pace, maybe even with the cost of stamina drain for balance! An optional thing I had given thought to was the ability to fully latch onto its target in order to accurately cover them with their readied net. 🕷️Ability - Locking On This is the single feature that would make this creature so invaluable, and even possibly make it require a very difficult feat for taming it due to that power, as with the spiders extreme accuracy, it has the ability to lock its attention onto its prey, much like our real world jumping spiders who wait for the right moment to pounce, and this could also be useful for when using its projectile web net, or if grappling with a single web possibly! This is a pretty big part of what makes them 'jumping' spiders after all! 🕷️Trait - Scary Face This spider was designed in thought with evolving to be able to terrify larger than normal predators, making it an incredibly useful tame for bases, keeping your creatures better protected when having to move them around the map, I imagined it could come with an extra ability to raise its back legs with its abdomen to stay in this stance on the ground, or you could enable an option within the radial menu allowing it to find and hang down from a nearby pole, perhaps even a new item for the spiders and flyers alike, akin to a perch? 🕷️Trait/Ability - Dance! Jumping spiders in the real world have very little differentiation on sizes between male and female. The idea was that the males would be the ones that allow you to get close enough to tame them, while females will try to kill you if you do this, and when you find a male companion, he has the ability to dance when you find a female, you can engage in this dance, maybe a left/right/up/down type of button combination you have to get right in order for her to find your boy worthy of her prescence, and in the meantime you can shower her with presents of food until she wants your boy to dance for her again, gradually gaining her trust. When a movement is not corrected quickly enough, she would become hostile and attack, and you may have to wait for her to cool off before you can attempt this ritual again! There is a last minute really nice alternative way of taming these and obtaining females specifically that I would like to add, suggested by an ally of maevia! Alternative method for obtaining females! This would make it to where you would need to take your male that you tamed into the wild, and challenge it with a female! If you win the dance, the female will allow breeding and allow you to stick around, defending her in her vulnerable moment, giving you an egg (or web-wrapped little gift sac with a jumper in it or an egg or two)! This egg sac could provide a male or female you could have! 🕯️Dossier!🕯️ If there's one thing I can say about Maevia eureka, you do not want to be caught in its sights! I once witnessed a jumper locking onto its prey with the most incredible accuracy, lunging at it with lightning speed and within the blink of an eye, its prey was being saved as a snack for later. They seem to have the genes of a few other spiders like that of the ogre spider, as it can cast a gathering of its webbing along with a little dab of the venom droplet it keeps stored on its head, working that into its web to create paralytic bolas that seem to render its prey unconscious. I have reason to believe the hairs that grow on its back legs came from the peacock spider, but due to its need for protection, it also uses these 'feathers' as a menacing face that can scare off large predators, I've seen some tribes set up posts that they can hang from around the fronts of their bases. I will say one thing is for certain, though they are nearly the size of a dire bear, they are quite the cuties, especially for being a spider, there is a certain intelligence you can see when you look into their eyes, I just can't place it, but they truly make remarkable companions with the ability to rapidly scale walls, caves, cliffsides and such. By no means are they a beast of burden, however they make up for this with their abilities to constrict or assassinate their targets. Maevia eureka can take down much larger prey with its torpor inducing bola, the net cast, and this makes them remarkable allies for taming other creatures. Though I haven't been able to get close enough to befriend one of the females, the males don't seem to mind me being in a remote vicinity with them as much. I wanted to add some other suggestions in a simplified form, key points from what Ark allies have mentioned before! - Droplets could be used as a nameless venom alternative, slower to produce but useful in situations or great when you have a plethora of jumpers. - Alternative where the male is small, female is massive, male used as a shoulder buddy that has major utility such as making ziplines, grapple, and large bola, where female is the tamer albeit slow with a few things to keep the balance. - Gacha coccoons, small creatures could be snatched and turned into coccoons, hung up and could produce goodies or other useful materials. - Radial menu where the production, torpor, and other things could be enhanced, as well as weight of creatures depending on torpor percentage, for how small/medium/large the taming capability could be for jumpers. - Torpor resistance due to thick fur/hairs. - Potentially immunity to radiation, which would help a tremendous amount when seeking rockdrake eggs.

  4. Artwork by Riskybiscuits Species: Shunosaurus jiangyiensis Time: Late Jurassic Diet: Herbivore Temperament: Passive Wild Shunosaurus is a smaller species of Sauropod often found wandering the green zone on the ark in small herds they are quite different from most sauropod species due to their shorter necks however to make up for this they have gained a remarkable new adaptation a large bony club at the end of its tail very similar to what the ankylosaurs have. This tail club is incredibly dense and is able to shatter next to anything from stone, metal and the bones of hostile creatures. In spite of it’s deadly weapon though the shunosaurus is quite passive and will most often ignore other creatures as it cares for it’s small herd and munches on plantlife Domesticated In order to tame a shunosaurus a survivor must gain it’s trust which is incredibly difficult to do as the shunosaurus pretty much only trusts members of it’s herd the best way I find to get it to trust you is to save it’s life I once saved a shunosaurus being attacked by a pack of ravagers and it quickly bonded to me as a result. Once tamed the shunosaurus becomes one of the best creatures around for mining as its large build allows it to carry an insane amount of weight and it’s tail club is incredibly effective at harvesting raw materials. Not to mention it can use a special platform saddle that comes with a built in Industrial forge allowing you to quickly smelt any metal gathered. The shunosaurus also makes for an incredibly powerful defensive mount thanks to it’s incredibly strong tail it can block and parry attacks even being able to send some flying back like a baseball bat hitting a ball. Abilities Tail whip attack the attack has massive range due to the long tail of the Shunosaurus and has a chance to inflict a new status effect Can swing it’s head to be used as a second blunt force weapon Can cause a new status effect broken bones this causes the effected creature to be briefly stunned and then move incredibly slowly for a short period Can grab and throw creatures using it's tail by Impaling them with it's club spikes largest creatures it can pick up are Carnos and Chalicos Can collect resources with it's tail whip attack like the anky Has a new buff similar to the pack buffs of the direwolves and allos this will be called the herd buff and causes the damage resistance of the Shunosauruses to increase and gives them a damage buff and movement speed increase Has a Platform saddle but this one comes with a Forge built in so any metal collected can instantly be smelted Can damage stone structures with it's tail attack Saddle can melt down items back to their base components such as flak gear back to metal, hide etc Has Bony plates and osteoderms on it’s back giving it extra damage resistance from behind Can crush element ore and convert it into element dust Can block and parry attacks using it’s tail bouncing back projectile attacks such as rockets, boulders, magmasaur fireballs etc and countering melee attacks however this attack has a cooldown period to prevent spamming Resistance to all forms of radiation and energy allowing it to survive in the most hostile environments including the surface on aberration Has a massive weight reduction of 90% on raw materials such as metal, Stone, wood etc Can gather metal, stone, obsidian, crystal, all types of gems and element ore with it's tail attack Can gather berries, wood, thatch and fiber with it's head swing attack Taming Method In order to tame the shunosaurus you must gain it’s trust by saving it from being attacked when you approach it you can feed it veggie cakes the shuno will then take a liking to you and start to follow you however hordes of nameless and ravagers will begin to arrive and will start to attack the shuno kill all of the attacking creatures and the shuno will be tamed and the more health it has by the end of the horde attack the higher the taming effectiveness will be

  5. if they do I might have a stroke, so much stress only for it to be an "easy win" not to say I dont want that though...

  6. I would be very interested if it is changed so that the structures in Asa are loaded first or at least second. Before the animals. I find it terrible that structures are partly useless to keep animals, whether own or foreign, from crossing a certain border. Whoever came up with the idea to load everything else first and then structures, had really not done a brilliant job that day.

  7. it's similar to Giga, I can't give you the exact size but if you want to have a visual estimate you can do two tests in SinglePlayer by creating a pair of Charca (and a pair of Giga if you want a comparison) and a Maewing to which you can assign levels/experience (to be distributed later) using console commands like [[ Cheat GiveExpToTarget 9999 0 0 ]] ; place the Maewing under the Charca's feet and slowly move the second Charca away until the "heart above his name" indicating the pair boost disappears, at which point make a small movement back and stop as soon as it reappears; at this point on the Maewing activate the nursing and "show area of efficiency" (the green sphere that appears will be your unit of measurement) and finally increase the levels in "nurse efficiency" until the green sphere touches the feet of the Charca, now you can use that Maewing to carry out the measurements you need, to compare that radius to other animals of which you already know the data you need, or to move it where you want to place your Stallion and build/place your mating group. Note: obviously this is possible in Server where you can assign many points to the Maewing, you will not easily be able to perform this test in Official as it takes a lot of points to the Maewing to widen that radius enough..

  14. okay but they haven't really gone in depth about what that qol IS. what we do know is what we're losing by them not including the dinos and tech from the maps not being available from day 1. So unless they're going to shove maewings, incubators, cryos, netguns,gas-powered birds, and a slew of other factors in or add structures that replicate their functions, we're at a net neg on qol. NOW. if they want to look at other survival games and give us better/quicker looting and language support, building skins/make vanilla structures easy to staple skins onto via mods and not have to add more bloat in the build menu, add more accessibility features for various blindness and color blindness features, add more hotkey setups for gamma settings, let us do weird industrial/automatic electrical features without it being locked behind tek, make building less painful/can build multiple tiles at once. In short, look at those other survival games and their quality of life features and steal them outright... great! i'll be really happy! But they need to TELL us they're doing it and SHOW us they're working on it. like, i'm not going to believe they're working on something until i see screenshots of in-game landscapes with the stuff placed down on the map. show me that good new water, show me that better lighting, show me all this work they've supposedly done on the island. If this thing is meant to drop a few months from now, they should at least have SOME of the basic features baked in and working. You know what makes me have less confidence? showing good renders of assets that have been just scaled up and not in the environment. Because that's the last part you work on, and them flashing that in front of us is like dangling keys in front of a toddler. Like I get it, the island might be bugging out REAL HARD with the lighting in some places, or some of the physics might be going sideways, the best thing they can do is pull a coffee stain studios and TELL US where the problems have been. Right now they're doing like what i did in the ancient times of being a teenager and a group of people expected something from me, but i couldn't admit that i was in over my head. I'd just go "OH UM. IT'S. HERE'S AN IN-PROGRESS THING, YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE THE REST OF IT WHEN IT'S READY? WHEN? OH.... SOON." However I never made anyone have to commit to my mistakes by slapping their old projects out of their hands and demanding they use the new version. Oh sorry, slap the old projects out of their hands and swear i'd take pictures so they could re-create those projects again at home. possibly. if i ever figured out how to make the camera work. Look over here, aren't these keys sure shiny?

  15. Who cares about wild babies? Once people start breeding a particular species and chase mutes they only use best stat breeding adults. The wild babies will be obsolete in the first 2 weeks and just ruin spawn rates. Dumbest idea ever. But i get it, wildcard know how easily some people are distracted. 'Look over here, new shiny thing, dont worry about the thousands of hours of peoples hard work we're about to erase'

  16. Soo... Another Community Crunch with less 'crunch' than a stale cracker! We want to see game footage, release updates, price drops?, game pass?. We don't need to see renders of stone tools, wooden houses and trees. At least give us details about any of the QOL updates we can expect. Lastly, I again ask if you can open element or tribute transfers for the rest of the time on ASE. Thank you and good night.

  21. As someone who helped out a bit with this concept I really hope it does well. I love the mobile forge and Element Ore crushing aspects, and that design has gotta the best sauropod design I've seen in these votes. Will definitely be upvoting (once I can get rid of this Early Bird rank lol). Edit: This post actually gave me the rank. How convenient.

  22. It’s “disrespectful” that some people will buy it? Bruh, the finances of other people shouldn’t concern you. Blame modern gaming for not putting out a single title worth playing since Elden Ring. Blame yourself for not having more disposable income.

  23. 70% ? The people playing on official are the minority of Ark players. Most play on unofficial. And ASE will still be able to be played when ASA releases, just not on official. Btw you wont lose as much, as the files can be downloaded and be played on singleplayer or unofficial after that. Btw.. because many people overlook it: ASA will not just be ASE with better graphics, it will have many new features and QoL as well.
