  • ARK: Scorched Earth Expansion Pack!

    Hello Survivors!

The Mysterious Mysteries have finally come to a close with the single biggest update in our 14-month development cycle. Studio Wildcard is proud to announce our first expansion pack, ARK: Scorched Earth.

    large.ARK_SE_0.png.b2be62ca4ea2076c5eb09

Scorched Earth is an completely new and different experience from The Island. Stranded naked, dehydrated and starving on a fiery, drought-ridden desert world, Survivors must immediately seek water, hunt for food, harvest new flora, craft new items, and build shelter from the extreme heat.

    large.ARK_SE_1.png.1ae8b200ca3b8de1fad6b

Scorched Earth is an entirely new map, composed of seven unique, desert themed biomes – dunes, high desert, mountains, canyons, badlands, oasis and the ever-dangerous dragon trench – each with their own aesthetics, resources & ecosystems, and littered with ruins, geysers, and intricate ancient cave systems.

    large.ARK_SE_05.png.3e0c93469cedcfb13791

    large.ARK_SE_08.png.c60ba64f74afa2cf70a8

The desert’s biomes are filled with fantastical new creatures, many of which can be tamed. Lead a caravan of the camel-like Morellatops, or rain fire down on your enemies from the back of a Wyvern. Just mind your step in the vast desert, or you might attract a Death Worm!

    large.ARK_SE_10.png.8c75b8a9dc12b366a5f7

One of the easiest resources to obtain on The Island has now become arguably one of the most valuable resources on this new map: water. Players must re-learn what it means to survive and thrive in a harsh desert environment depleted of water resources.

    large.ARK_SE_04.png.840d3c859ef64521026e

Discover over 50 new items to craft including new outfits and structures to protect from the heat, and new tools to help survive in the harsh environment. Carry temporary shelter with you using tents, employ whips, boomerangs and flamethrowers for ‘defense’, wind turbines to generate clean power, and water wells & oil refineries to harvest scarce resources, among many new mechanics!

    large.ARK_SE_07.png.d224800974e69b65244f

Prepare yourself for new weather experiences including dangerous electrical storms, blinding sand storms, befuddling heat stroke.

    large.ARK_SE_9.png.85838680102ad55477fd6

Unleash the power of the Obelisks to come face-to-face with ARK’s fourth and deadliest boss creature to date  – the ferocious Manticore!

    large.ARK_SE_12.png.8fef7a950227851233a0

Scorched Earth utilizes a new feature called The Gateway, a cross-server ARK transfer. Survivors who manage to survive the harsh arid conditions can travel back and forth from the Scorched Earth map to the ARK: Survival Evolved main game, taking with them newly collected tools, weapons, and their newly tamed creatures to impress their friends and dazzle their combatants.

    large.ARK_SE_11.png.d432d294c61ede2ac988

Scorched Earth is available starting today on Steam Early Access and Xbox One Game Preview. As Scorched Earth is an expansion, players already must own ARK: Survival Evolved in order to play.

    large.ARK_SE_13.png.233d0422fce08fe825ed

    large.ARK_SE_06.png.2af4352fea99999c429d

ARK: Survival Evolved is on sale this week at 40% off the retail price for both Steam and Xbox One so if you haven’t already picked it up, now is the perfect time to grab ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Scorched Earth!

Learn more about these features in the Ansel Technology page and the NVIDIA blog.

    Xbox Update v739!

On top of the Scorched Earth content, Xbox One player will also be receive a new update that brings them up to speed with lots of the content already available on PC. The update will also include a HD resolution upgrade to fully support 720p gameplay with 1080p UI’s.

Primitive+ is now an official part of ARK: Survival Evolved on Xbox One, which features over 100 new items, weapons, structures, and survival mechanics oriented towards “primitive” style living -- effectively doubling the amount of content within ARK!

Newly available as part of the ‘ARK Official Mods Program’ today, Primitive+ is a functionality mod playable on official ARK maps, challenging players to use weapons and tools only made of wood and stone, without the benefit of advanced metals to create weapons such as guns. It's a whole new set of items and detailed mechanics focused on 'primitive' survival, which fits snugly in the world of ARK.

In addition, the versatile Pelagornis and the pack-minded Allosaurus, along with a new Fishing Rod and fishing mechanic, and a flurry of additional gameplay features have been added!

    Additional Update v739 Content Includes:
    - New Item: Fishing Rod + Fishing Mechanic! Be a pro fisherman as you apply varied bait, cast the line, wait for a fish to become ensnared, and then succeed at a mini-game to reel the fish and claim copious rewards!
    - New Structure: Industrial Grinder that grinds items into a portion of their crafting resources, then converts resources into simpler resources
    - New Structure: Spiral Staircase (Stone/Wood/Metal)
    - New Mechanic: Optional Hitmarkers for ranged attacks (server can toggle them, as well as client if the server allows it)
    - Building Attack/Destruction TribeLogs

Dude you are nonsensical. Did you buy an incomplete game expecting something more? Was the notice about it not working properly 100% of the time not obvious enough for you? Why does it sound like the one who needs common sense isn't me but you? "95%" of people don't understand this "new" way to release and showcase pre-release games so of course they would vote against it. "95%" of people would rather complain about this then actually use their brains to think about how ridiculous they sound complaining about all this. "95%" of people is the biggest exaggeration I have ever heard in my life by the way and that is using common sense. You want to go spend 100$ or more on DLC for a "fully completed" AAA title then go right ahead. The rest of us who payed the 20$ on a game that we only payed half price for, cuz we understood it wasn't complete and knew what we were buying, and that we have gotten more out of than most of all the AAA 60$ games with their overpriced DLCs and micro-transactions. How is that for "common sense"

thank you for proving jeffrey's point about you basically repeating everything you say, this is the..3rd time i think you said something about AAA games..and about people not understanding that this is pre-release, and theres about 8 pages on this forum post, you and like...5-6 people defend this decision because you had money to buy it. btw we were expecting wildcard to fix the bugs etc, yet they add more to their to-do list instead of crossing things off.

Why do I have to change my perfectly valid argument because you children, which is what y'all are acting like, wont accept the facts. You were expecting bug fixes, well because I read the warning before purchasing I am expecting content and then bug fixes not the other way around. It makes absolutely no sense to just stop adding content to fix bugs so that they can then proceed to continue adding content and creating more if not bringing back the exact same bugs that plague the game now, when they could just complete the content and tackle the bugs all at once in the final clean-up of the game before release which is how every single other company handles building their games but guess what you never get to see that cuz they don't want you to unlike WC who want their community to be apart of the game building and decision making on what gets added and balanced. Again you literally do not have to buy the DLC to play with the new creatures and items if you have someone who did buy it to go get the things for you, the only thing the DLC is required for is access to the new map. So it doesn't really matter if you can afford it cuz you still get the majority of the content for free.

EDIT: I want to point out that I'm not saying I am not being childish about this but come on

I do have to say, your ignorance is quite entertaining. Your not a member of the scientology church by any chance? You would make a great member getting others to believe in a giant magathron god by just repeating and repeating and repeating. I could quote you 10 more times and you will bite every time. But this time I will not argue any statements you made, I will leave & respect your little fantasy about this. Good luck on your next 'teaching' as there is alot of work for you (95%).

no not really, plenty of companies like wargaming and rockstar still add content long after the game was released with no bugs or anything. other companies also get their community involved, and the people making halo wars 2? yeah they're  more involved then wildcard is. your argument that you repeat is garbage, and if they had worked on making the game 100% stable like most actually companies, they wouldnt have to worry about bugs, atleast not crashing, falling through the world, losing your saves.etc those bugs.

The amount of trolling you are trying to pull is laughable. You get the one intelligent response. Now you resort to calling me ignorant? The only reason you aren't trying harder is because you have no argument because you realize I'm right. I can accept that

Those companies also keep their games under wraps for years before letting you play them and then lie to you by releasing a "fully complete" game that isn't technically fully complete because you don't actually have access to all the content which is where they get you. If you do enough digging then you can find the content is already in the game just not made available to you until they deem appropriate and then they charge you for it. As for RockStar's famous GTAV with its "free" update. You have pretty much already payed for the updates by buying the game which already had the updates in its coding and then the mass micro transactions, oh and the special editions of the game. Yeah those 1-2 guns, cars, and so on I am sure get really taxing on a game with a huge dev team and years of planning.

Hello WC I would like to know if you plan on adding more scorched earth servers to the Xbox one both Na and Eu lists because it has gotten to the point that I can no longer even get on a scorched earth server to play and have fun because the servers are completely full I can not tame nor transfer Dinos because I can not build a base and log back on because there isn't enough space we NEED! more scorched earth servers I hope you either are working on this or will start working on this sincerely Rexeater.

Hello there WC I would like if you could start adding more Na and Eu servers to the scorched earth dlc as well as primitive plus it has become such a hassle to get into servers that I find it horrific that I spent $20 to not be able to play on the dlc map because all the servers are completely full and the times I do get in I'm in for maybe an hour or 2 then I have to wait another 5 hours to get back on that server which is not enough time to build a base let alone tame anything. I would be very glade if you where to add more servers but so far I'm dissapointed that you can only have 8 primitive plus servers and that you can clearly see that the scorched earth servers a completely packed but will not add anymore servers there are thousands of other players wanting to play on these servers but can not do to your lack of preparation.

    Sincerely:Rexeater

Dear WC it has been a long time in the making for this game and i really do enjoy playing ark. But what i do not get is how you can need soo many bug and glitch fixes everytime you have a update/patch. I belive that a game should never have this many problems when youself the creators of the game have made it possible on PC but you can not get it right on the consoles, now I do get that they are different platforms but this should not be a problem because you have given set back dates due to ishues. As a game developing company would think that you would be ready for any possible bugs and or glitches considering you should be testing this before releasing it to the community. Now I do understand that it is a pre-release in works game but that should not affect your ability to do your job at a reasonable rate. I do know you are trying but if you are going to push back a release date do not only put out 8 primitive plus servers when you have seen the amount of people waiting on console for it to come out. I would also like recommend that you add more Na and Eu PvP servers for the new scorched earth dlc you are clearly able to see that almost all of the servers a completley packed. Many other gamers in the community would like to play and be able to spend hours building and not have to worry if they can get on the server they have been building on. I think adding more servers should be around the top of your list so other players are able to report any bugs and or glitches this would make any future bug patches be a lot faster, simpiler and well planned. Thank you Wildcard if you do review and consider what I have said scincerely:Rexeater.

to be fair the full game is 17.99 right now.  So yes the DLC costs more than the incomplete main game.

To be factual and within context, he replied to a post stating that in fact, the Expansion Pack is 19.99 where his claim is that it costs 26.99 in the US.

Everyone can see for themselves that it does, in fact, cost 19.99 in the US.

His rant and claim is baseless, even when put in caps, bolded, and underlined.

    BS is still BS.

as impressive as the dlc looks I will not buy it until the full release. I think this was poorly thought out, spending extra time developing and releasing paid content when you still don't have the base content working properly. The Xbox patch that you released at the same time came with a fatal flaw that could have easily been caught and thanks to the holiday weekend probably wont be fixed until next week. Again nice content idea but poorly thought out release.

as many people who write and follow this site i bet the majority of them watch the you tubers like slip and maz and i saw them playing this and they had special hat skins and a special saddle skin on scorched ark, so i beg to ask the question where are ours? do we get them or not and also the skins that are on the vanilla ark don't show up on scorched earth, is this on purpose or is it a bug? lastly we were told that the other content like the tapejara was supposed to be coming out with this update, why didn't it? i would like to know the answers to these questions but i guess they would probably go unanswered as always

Your previous survivor body needs to be reconstructed to receive the cosmetics. In other words, die and they'll be in your inventory when you respawn.

I just want to add my two cents. I want to thank Wildcard and all the companies involved with creating ARK: Survival Evolved, and Scorched Earth. Keep up the great work! You guys are doing great and don't let all the negativity get you guys down. I'm so excited to see the game grow.

I understand the money issue with the DLC, why is it not free until full release? It shjoould be a payable DLC for when the game is fully released, but how come it's not free as the game is still in early access and has a chance even if it's 1% to be dis-continued could be money wasted.

HEY now we know what they have been doing all this time instead of improving the main game! isn't that just great?  gonna totally go spend an extra 20 raptoring dollars on a game that isn't anywhere near finished yet. on the bright side, Looks better then their ACTUAL game. Good on you wildcard. bet you wont make your base game look this good, no, Because that would mean people wouldn't have as much of incentive to buy your DLC! smart move!

honestly I'm so done with this game now. Like raptor this poop man.
