  • Achievement Unlocked: Your first day…

Congratulations Survivors! You (and us too) survived a full day and night on the ARK! And what an eventful day it has been.

A lot’s been going on, and we thought it would be good to wrap up the day with a quick update regarding the state of the game and our plans over the days and weeks ahead.

Let’s discuss a few key topics: the first is no stranger to ARK games on Day One, and that’s client-side performance. Working from anecdotal feedback and hard data provided by players, we deployed a new client-side update released tonight that will improve your game's framerate. The update adds a number of optimizations and better settings assignments for each Graphics Quality mode, and you'll get an immediate gain upon trying out the new build.

Once you've got the update, please change your "Graphics Quality" setting to your preferred setting (Low/Medium/High/Epic) to take full advantage of the new under-the-hood settings. Tomorrow and into the weekend, we'll release further improvements to client performance, including generating a Pipeline State Object Cache to reduce/eliminate graphics stuttering & hitching and further optimizing the sky/cloud/atmosphere shaders. Thank you for bearing with us as the team works to ensure the game runs better for various configurations, including this first set of optimizations and the many still to come.

The second is a one-two combo: server-side stability and optimization. The team has been battling a number of never-before-seen crashes since the game went live (such is life — 1 hour of live play is equivalent to a month of internal QA). Honestly, the floodgates had opened, and at one point, servers were coming down faster than we could put them online! Thankfully, as of our latest server-side build, we’ve managed to get the servers in a much more stable state, eliminating over 95% of server crashes. There’s still more we plan to address, and you can expect more deployments to happen over the next few days to ensure as much uptime as possible and launch additional servers based on capacity needs!

As for how well the servers run, we’ve been collecting data over the last 24 hours to identify major server performance pain points. This will be a major focus for the engineering team, and we’ll be looking to introduce as many optimizations as possible. After a week or so, we plan to have a PTR branch of the game available to test out some of our riskier optimizations before we set them live to the public. But for now, we’ll continue operating from the main branch of the game as we’ve just launched and are in rapid patch mode!

And lastly, the ARK Devkit (for ASA) is now available! For those unfamiliar, the ARK DevKit is a custom version of the Unreal Engine 5 Editor that provides dedicated infrastructure to help you take your imagination into the game of ARK: Survival Ascended. The kit is available to download HERE, and we’ve got a quick FAQ you can check out HERE.

We’re really excited to get this out to you and cannot wait to see you build beyond boundaries in ARK: Survival Ascended!

This is only the beginning of ASA’s Early Access journey; there’s still much more we plan to do to the game as we develop it. This means working through the rough patches and introducing new features, content, and gameplay. We cannot wait to get all that and more in your hands. But for now, we’ll say thank you for all your feedback, support, and excitement. It’s been wonderful watching so many of you begin the first steps of your ASA adventures, and we can’t wait to see where it takes us!

    Good night! ❤️

You definetly didnt fix 95% of server crashes because there are more servers offline than yesterday, you are just making up numbers to try please the crowd but you obviously didnt realize we are the people who actually experience these things, we dont just say they crashed again but we experience the server going down so many times that we have to find a new server, than after 40 minutes of playing on it, it also gets into a loop of crashing and so on. saying 95% is just a crazy thing to do in your position.

Maybe I'm off target here, but I find it funny they get the dev kit out as quickly as possible so people can begin creating mods and in turn open up another revenue stream for WC when those mods possibly get sponsored.

too be fair, some people were complaining that the dev kit wasn't out yet. its definitely a good thing that the community has access to the dev kit as soon as possible.

They still haven't fixed this?  Wow, that'd be one of the first things I'd fix as it sucks in ASE to have this, including players where you spawn in and are stuck in foundations and have to either destroy the foundation or keep trying to rejoin without being stuck.

    It is still not fixed.

    At least not yesterday.
My acquaintances have played and when logging in again animals have been IN the foundations and also the players.

I do not have the game yet, there are changes that I like, but it has not convinced me yet. There weighs the deal with Nitrado too heavy.

Steam recently removed the local currency for various countries of the south like Argentina because the inflation there is so high, the game studios cannot price the game accordingly. The price were switched to USD. Maybe that's the case why you see higher price.

Nah,the change to dollars in argentina in  steam is in november 20.This increase x5 in argentina,turkey,x2 in brazil. The price was change in other countries in same time, like russia.

In your "Community Crunch 381" was written :

Q: Will there be a preorder? Get access to the game early? Exclusive Content? Pre-loading?

We aren’t planning on making ARK: Survival Ascended available for pre-order. You can purchase the game towards the end of October when we reveal the trailer and related media.

There are no plans to allow anyone to access the game early; you will all have access to it at the same time, and no intentions to release exclusive content only available at launch.

As we intend to set the game live immediately when it’s ready to purchase, you cannot preload it.

But here in this latest update on what's going you call the PC release early access to the game. But yet in crunch 381 you all said everyone will receive the game at the same time. So the question  is when will console finally be able to get the game you say November but before you said eveyone will be getting it w8thout early access.

Ok, so what am I supposed to tell my kids when they ask why we can't get this to play together, even though we see people all over youtube playing it? "I'm sorry guys, but I don't make enough money to buy us three computers and they wont put it on xbox." Maybe instead of devoting resources to selling a devkit, focus on actually getting the game released?

Quite telling that way this is written, the future plans for the upcoming days/weeks - there are no plans for the console release or information on its release. Everything is about PC, so maybe just tell console players to not expect the game anytime soon?

The nitrado decision is going to lose you guys a lot more than the 3 million they paid you.

Seriously. No clarification whatsoever of cluster self-hosting like we've been able to do for the last 8 years. One server per steam account is absolutely insane and they're smoking crack if they think I'm shelling out money to them or Nitrado to do something my rack server setup is more than capable of doing. I've already refunded the game and have warned everyone I know with aspirations of self-hosting to ignore this dumpster fire. It's disgusting and quite frankly, a slap in the face for us.

    Get stuffed, WC/Snail.

Just a thought. (A thought that I saw someone else say). Why not release the console version but without multiplayer. That way people on console can start playing on single player and get an idea of how the game is. It’s not ideal but I would imagine that many would be happy with that, for now.

This kinda puts the nail in the coffin for console players. Christmas launch maybe? "(such is life — 1 hour of live play is equivalent to a month of internal QA)" sounds like 1 hour is the time the actual servers were up for 😋

Feel good that you got to try it at all! I didn't even get to see it in the store!

We survived a whole day?  The servers couldn't even survive a whole friggin day.   Free unofficial servers from nitrado at least to give this game a chance.  It's currently a dead stick because of this bogus exclusivity deal with Nitrado who can't even maintain their own poop.

The first decision of the monopolist - NITRADO
increasing the price for the cheapest server by more than 2 times. What's the point of having 26 slots when most of us only need them for several people?

Nitrado explains the need right on their site.
