  1. Now I understand the purpose of the trains. You need them to travel in the darkness.
  2. I start to like it, it's a real thrill. Taming a giga while fog and darkness makes you blind so that you can't see the other wild giga lurking around you. Woah ... first I was shocked, but now ... yeah dev-gods, slay us harder. haha ...
  3. How do you know I get not banned for modifying or "hacking" files? It's against the will of the gods. Heretic.
  4. But I live in the official universe and have to accept the will of the gods (devs), and if they blind me half of the time, I can only suffer. But seriously: The mountain areas on The Island are now a bad place for bases. You really see nothing in your base. If this will stay I have to rebuild my base in a lower area.
  5. Is it impossible to start rail tracks placed on roofplates? Because that's my impression after I made first steps with the new DLC. Around my base in the mountains it's impossible to place tracks on the ground. Therefore I placed the first track part on roofplates on my base and tried everything to extend the track. Not possible. I made a test at another flat place area with roofplates slightly above the ground, and placed the first part on them. Same result, impossible to extend the track alltough it has contact with the ground. If I place the first part on the ground everything works fine.
  6. On Scorched I experienced now the same, but I have adopted it and use now POI markers to navigate while having zero sight.

    Pillar Spam

Make a raft base until you find your base spot. That's what I do when playing on a new map.
  8. I have my Island base high up in the mountains, over the clouds. The new weather effects are impressive and realistic, but half of the time I have zero sight, I walk around in my base like blind. All white from fog or all black from darkness. Flying is impossible. Very impressive and realistic, but too realistic. Sitting for 10 min on my Argy not knowing where is up and down is not really fun.
  9. Thx for the reply. Today I saw a level 155 Acha down there, the lowest until now. I had a crappling hook with me and tried to pull it upwards while on my Megatherium. That worked. But when I pulled it with the hook to my outpost I lost it in the ground. Then I pulled a level 240 to the entrance area, now taming.
  10. -Fixed an issue that would cause the player to fall unconscious when re-mounting a flyer if they crashed while riding one Does this really mean I stay on my bird after a crash? Would be great, no more fear of high altitudes. -Made an adjustment to Broodmother arena to fix a spot used to cheese the bossfight No more kangaroo trick? I never did it this way but planned to do so.
  11. ... and they are right. Like many others I was haunted from endless crashes and lag. Buying a RTX3 with 12 GB didn't helped much. I could only play on DX11, DX12 crashed always while entering. I spent another thousand bucks for a new motherboard and an i5-14600. Not one crash in two days. And I played on both, Island and Scorched. Performance is great. It was not the software or the GeForce, because drives and the Geforce were from the old system. It was only my old i3-motherboard which could not handle ARK, but is still able to run all new games, except ARK. In the end I had to pay 1500 € to play the new ARK.
  12. I found only Achatinas over level 200. Do I need 50 cakes for one? Are there low level Achatinas anywhere?
  13. I was now able to start the game on DX12, which was not possible since weeks, but when trying to open inventory: crash. Switched off DLSS: crash while entering the game. I will try it again next week.
  14. Try dx11, from my experience it crashes fewest. Here are also some bios tuning tips when having unreal5 engine probs: https://www.pcgamer.com/there-are-increased-reports-of-crashing-in-unreal-engine-games-etc-and-epic-is-blaming-intel-chips/
  15. Note to the forum mods: This is not a bug report, this is a rant. After the new big patch I thought: "Hey, maybe this time I can play on DX12 mostly crash-free". I tried ten times to get into the game on DX12 ... and failed 10 times. Then I played again on DX11 and got a hard freeze, where I had to hard reset my computer. And that was it for me. I decided to clear all my outposts and move all my stuff to my main base, which is now in hibbernating mode. Can only hope that I maybe in the future I will be able to play ARK ASA crashfree on DX12. But not on this map. The Island is totaly borked. Because all dev teams cramped the map full of stuff and nobody cared about the performance on the client PCs. Maybe in 5 years, when we all have better computers, this map will be playable.
  16. I doubt we will replay all maps like a nostalgia club. I started playing ARK with the Valguero map, and tried out all other maps. Abberation and Extinktion were both unplayable for me, because of lag, Scorched Earth was boring without ocean play, and the Center was just another the Island. I guess we will only replay the most liked maps, like Valguero, Crystal Isles and Genesis.
  17. Once I accidently pulled a sleeping player out of his bed. It happened when I drove with my raft through a base on a river. Suddenly the sleeping corpse was on my raft. I put him back on the floor.
  18. I tried this too with the TDL Delay settings in the registry, but it didn't helped. It also not helped to use the older driver (537.58 or whatverer). I still only have the choice between DX11 laghell or DX12 crashhell. And playing on DX11 means that most parts of the map are unplayable.
  19. The problem is that this often don't work and it seems it's dependant from the steepness of the area where the node is. In a flat area it's no problem but in a steep area I can fly my Anky into the nodes like I want ... no auto harvest. In the end I'm faster if I ride the Anky. Maybe some adjustment from the devs could solve this problem.
  20. For a while I farmed white pearls at the west coast in the icy area, and I always wondered why there is so much lag allthough there is no djungle near. Now that I tried the Cave of Lost Faith there with my Basilo, an underwater cave, I think that cave is the reason for the lag. Patch note said they fixed some client crashes, so I tried the cave on DX12, but still too much crashes. I gave it up now with caves and come to the hard conclusion that 80% of the map are unplayable for me. the whole inner country with the djungle, and the caves. Maybe one day they have fixed all the client crashes, but until then I play only on the small stripe outside.
  21. While exploring the cave play of ARK ASA I come now to the conclusion that ARK ASA has no cave instancing like the old ARK ASE had. That means near caves or in caves my client PC has to calculate two worlds, the cave world and the outer world, at the same time, which leads to bad lag if in or near caves. The old ARK ASE had a very smooth transition when entering the cave instance. You had a small stutering while entering the cave and a great performance boost in the cave, because the outer world was not calculated there. I'm not sure about the Unreal engine, but as player I have the experience that you mostly get a loading bar screen while changing instances in Unreal engine based games. It's a powerful engine, but it has difficulties to hide instance transitions. What say the experts? Am I wrong? Because for me as player it has the consequence to avoid not only cave play but also regions near caves. Maybe in five years my future PC will be able to handle all the load.
  22. If this is the new forum policy to move all posts into "bug reports" or "suggestions", then we can close the general discussion forum. My intention was to give feedback about gameplay styles I tried.
  23. True, but seems like they are all in the same spawn group. On Crytsal Isles we had one spawn group for the dozen crates in the large deep sea cave (I know this because I farmed them like mad), and I think those outside were also divided into different spawn groups. Would be good to split the deep sea crates from "The Island" into four spawn groups along the edges. Hey, I would be really willing to take the long ride with my Basilo around the whole map, if that's the only way to get them. But if they only offer blue and green stuff, then not.
  24. After transforming my base from stone to metal I seek for new challenges. I built a harbour, tamed some Basilos and had fun. But sadly the deep sea loot crates have only green and blue stuff, and also looks like they have this strange mechanic where only 2 or so are up and if they are on the other side of the map and nobody else is farming them then I have no respawn on my side. All I can do in the deep sea now is killing squids for black pearls. Then I tried cave play. The lag in caves on DX11 is really bad, framerates below 10. So I have to switch to DX12 in caves and deal with way more crashes. And even on DX12 I have some stuttering there (all settings always on minimum and 1366x768 resolution on a 3060RTX with 12 GB RAM). I don't understand why the performance in caves is so bad, because usually it should be better than outside, where way more stuff is present. I found a blue and a white crate, both with cool ascendant stuff in it. Please devs, fix the the deep sea loot crate tables. Walking into a cave is really not that effort like taming basilos.

    Incubator

Like the cryofridge came earlier than planned, because it's essential and we needed it now, the egg-incubator is also essential. I would like to start with breeding now, but without the incubator it's a pain. I have to do heavy number crunching but all I want is to see the base skill points, which the incubator displays. Please bring us the incubator now.
