egg incubator Giant Moa - A Fast Flightless Bird with a Small Platform Saddle

Recommended Posts

I can imagine part of this creature is targeted to for wyvern egg stealing, but since it can't get down to the wyvern trench, a flyer is still needed. So the only point of it will be a breeder before Tek? Sandstorm or not is mostly pointless, the game doesn't have enough activity for going out to sandstorm, and this thing can't detect phoenix, even Phoenix is useless so in the end the bird it will be a creature for early ~ mid game for run around during the sandstorm? Cuz a flyer, maewing will definitely faster without sandstorm.

To the people who not only don't want the Moa but also BASH it: Knock it off, we've already had enough negativity thrown towards a creature simply for being "underpowered" or "uSeLlEsS". Let us have this (that is if the Moa wins). You guys almost had the Hatz, Gorgonops, Bastion Beetle or whatever animal that you wanted so badly but didn't make it to the finals. Don't ruin it for PVE players or Ark breeders who want creatures like the Moa, or the freaking Bison that's bashed to hell and back.

And remember: WildCard studios will nerve PVP-oriented creatures. Heck, they might get nerfed to the point that they're so weak that they're as useless as the Moa. Not even melee, stam, or health mutations can save them from lack of utility.

If I were you, I'd save your b*tching till the end of the finals.

Alright, rant over.

_ _ _

Cap, I have my favorites, but dang your submission is darn impressive. You have my support, and the Moa has my vote! :D I'd be flabbergasted if it wins and ends up in the game. I'm looking forward to the results.

these ideas arent really fit for a singular map, if these ideas were added into the game it would be for more than 1 map at least, even if this dino was added, they would change it to a oversized terror bird that protects eggs, i feel like wildcard arent looking for utility dinos for scorched earth but more scorched earth specialised dinos, made only for the map, the idea is great, but not for this vote

While I have absolutely no bias to anything that has a platform saddle in their listing (srsly we need more platform saddles), it’s important to look at the creature itself, there’s no guarantee it is gonna be a literal mobile egg incumbator, or a platform saddle, or anything else. Wildcard HAS stuck with the general feel of the creature submission (ex: carchar was always positioned as gifs rival, it is; dinopithicus was a gun slinger, I think of it as a tek terrorist, close enough) this moa is sort of a utility/ tougher scout. So I would think of this post as: here’s a big bird called a moa, it’s has utility and attributes that make it a scout, utility, and get-around creature.

The main take away is don’t look at stats or very specific ideas for a creature, just look at the creature and the vibes it gives off. Love the trap-video style picture to show off the he idea, cap!

When writing up Aepyornis I was going for something that is great to use for multiple roles. That is why I wanted it to have different saddles. It does have some abilities  that accent the saddles for certain roles...like the immunities to venom creatures use. That idea was to give them great benefits for traveling through areas like swamps and dunes. Titanoboas are a common attacker in those biomes. Immunity to sandstorms while using the platform is great for the bird but the player has to deal with speed reductions...this is for balance. The battle saddle has an undercarriage to support another player to be mounted but also allows the players mounted combat while riding where the other saddles do not. So to respond to this on the idea of my submission...it was targeted for: looting, scouting, travel, light to moderate battle, farming, mobile base and light base defense with the stomping taunt ability...its mostly a mid game utility creature but when on a cluster it would be great for exploration.

Actually a good way to look at it. Though when posting these ideas it gives Devs the fuel to either agree with the ideas or help them maybe see something else. Also, posting the ideas are great for modders that could perhaps alter the creature later on.
All in all it is good that the community voices likes and dislikes in all aspects but lowering expectation and just seeing the creature as is could be rewarding if it gets done in a vision you like. Otherwise if you dislike it you will never tame it.

dear FATDOG I like your creature but... I think you are leaving it too easy to WILDCARD... I would like a much more difficult creature to make both visually and aesthetically...

Depictions of the Aepyornis have a bit more color. Somes's submission is my favorite in terms of colors and looks...though I like the feathers on the head in DrawolfKnight's art. The Aepyornis details did have some mechanics that made the head feathers stand up when upset. It also has a threat mode like someone else mentioned for light base defense similar to a Parasaur.
The OP's Moa is somewhat a bit more basic aside from the taming.

Yup, it's a very good point. I will update the post to make that clear before we get to the next phase of voting.

Glad you like it, thanks.

This is hands down the coolest creature idea I have seen! This would make gameplay so much more fun. We also do not have enough birds in the game! I love the way this creature will work as well. This is so unique!  And lest be honest, they are adorable too! 10/10. This needs to win! NEEEDS TO WIN!!!!

A creature spawning on one particular map doesn't mean it can't be useful on other maps, just look at rockdrakes. Before Fjordur, rockdrakes were still just as good on other maps as Aberration. Many of the other DLC creatures are still very good on other maps as well. A utility creature fits on a map like Scorched too, with creatures like the morellatops, thorny dragon, mantis, and jerboa having some form of utility. With the only real combat creatures being 3 different wyverns and the rock golem, which are plenty for one map.

Guys, make sure you research how Ranked Choice Voting works and set an alarm or whatever for the date when the final vote happens. MAKE SURE YOU VOTE AGAIN, as this is not the final vote that determines what gets added to the game / Scorched Earth. Remind all your friends to vote as well.

The Moa is one of the few suggestions in the current Top 10 that isn't just "pew pew pew kill this and that". We need to reward creativity and utility over spectacle and lazy copy-pastes.

Definitely agree on a lot of this, thought I actually think 9/10 submissions in the top 10 currently are really strong and unique! All of them are gonna bring something new and fresh to ASA if they were to win, bar the beetle which has really fallen since last vote

Worst part of this is ranking all my favourites, ahh!

I wish both the Moa and the Maip got added, they would make scorched earth feel a lot more unique, it would be so cool if maybe they added 2 creatures per vote for the Main DLC.

Oh and a question cap, which creature would you like the most to get a TLC???.

Id choose the titanoboa

Pachy!

I think they should look at all the PVE and PVP data they have collected over the years. Take the LEAST used dinos and give those a makeover.  Make them useful and interesting again.

But to answer your question. Liopleurodon, Phoenix, Pachy, and Onyc.

Sometimes the thorny dragon has been a bit underwhelming to me stat wise, his taming is pretty hard(but he is the only wood gatherer in SE but still, Id buff him overall and the Bronto is a pretty sad tame.

i have an idea. the scales on the leg can fall off (it will take ages for the scales to fall off) and be crafted with a normal shield to get a Moa scale Shield which provide more protection to you when metal tools attack but little to no protection to getting shot. the fur might be harvested and a unknown type of oil in the fur could be drained with a brush and you can drink the oil and have a safe time from the sandstorm but if you drink it than certain dinosaurs will charge at you (like the rare flower does when you eat it) but the oil will only trigger certain types of animals. and you will need to use the oil to make the moa not be aggressive to you when you go near its nest. also a nesting area where the moas spawn and they lay eggs their but you cant take the oil from the babies because that would be too easy. you would need to kill the moa to get the oil and then tame the moa. but if you kill a moa in a certain spot then the moas their would be aggressive towards you even if you use the oil but only the moas at that nesting area.

I still want them to come through with some of the TLC that they hinted at years ago with the turtle, plesio, quetz, ptera and araneo.
