The Fluffy Jumping-Spider Tranq Bola - Maevia Eureka!
NerdyGremlin replied to Sovira's topic in Finalist Discussion archive
It's definitely cute, but I don't see it being that big of a game changer for Aberration. Ravager does a perfect job at being an all-rounder, the bleed making it pretty good against other players. We already have 4 shoulder pets, the shine horn and glow tail being infinitely more adorable. More-so looking for a roll rat size, midway between the ravager and rock drake. I don't see this thing being that big. I also just think other creatures fit the map ever so much more. Koolasuchus and the big chameleon (not majungasaurus) would look godamn gorgeous in the blue zone (I'm not promoting those 2, at least trying not to sound like I am, just making a point). Though, people are still free to vote for this creature however they please. I'm just bringing up my honest thoughts. -
Ornimegalonyx, the Giant Flightless Owl
NerdyGremlin replied to Shockal's topic in Finalist Discussion archive
It's a cool creature. The spotlight eyes are kind of amusing to me. The only problem (which isn't even a problem, just a preference) is that I'm more-so leaning towards voting for a roll-rat sized creature. I just prefer creatures with the potential for great utility alongside bulk (I'm a mammoth enthusiast.) I also just think the ravager does a fine enough job at being an all-rounder, scouting creature.- 347 replies

a chill dude Estemmenosuchus, The Pneumatic Therapsid
NerdyGremlin replied to Ru5ty1738's Suggestion in Creature submission archive
A creature that gets juiced up on toxic gas is very amusing to me. Would've been even funnier if it was cotylorynchus, but I still love estemmenosuchus.- 54 replies

custom art & dossier Pemphix - The Giant Lobster Brawler/Medic
NerdyGremlin replied to DragonHorse's Suggestion in Creature submission archive
My enjoyment depends on how big this creature would be. If it's the same size as a reaper, karkinos, basilisk, rock drake, or spino, that just sounds boring. If it's around roll rat size, that'll be something interesting. A large lobster/crawfish really does fit Aberration. Can maybe even have it make big crawfish mounds, like what the casteroides already do with dams.- 40 replies

Don't know how to feel about having one of its main gimmicks being able to support just one creature (a creature whose presence is already fine as it is), but it's still an octopus. There are plenty of creative ideas this thing could possibly have.

insectivorous Calumma Benovskyi "the power of the tongue"
NerdyGremlin replied to Zaimon's Suggestion in Creature submission archive
I love this idea, fits the map so well. Would probably act as a mid-way between a ravager and rock drake, while still having a unique use on its own. Could have a charge effect where you get a buff from swallowing lantern pets and bugs. A glowing, color changing chameleon just sounds fun.- 20 replies

Koolasuchus-Ark's New Combat and Utility Amphibian
NerdyGremlin replied to F0zZ's topic in Finalist Discussion archive
Pretty cool creature. Probably not my number 1 choice, the ridable chameleon (not majungasaurus), I'll worship for 1000 years. This creature though, definitely would be ranking pretty high when the final voting takes place. Would be funny to get a charge buff from devouring cute, little lantern pets.- 295 replies

This idea just fits the map so well. I see the common criticism of downgrading an absolute unit bovine into common cattle, but I don't see Wildcard making it weak. I can still see the bison being very much around carno and thyla strength (maybe not dire bears, those things just hit like a train.) Anky's whole usage is to farm metal, yet it still hits like a truck and is a pretty decent fighter. Daeodon may have the role of the typical healer, but it can still handle itself just fine.

insectivorous Calumma Benovskyi "the power of the tongue"
NerdyGremlin replied to Zaimon's Suggestion in Creature submission archive
I really like the idea of a large, ridable chameleon. If this creature doesn't make it to the top 10, or win the poll, I can see this idea being fantastic for Aberration. It fits the overall gorgeousness of the map, fits with the other creatures having a form of mobility (with climbing), and could have mechanics directly associated with the lantern bugs and pets around the map. Maybe swallowing lantern pugs and cute little goats can give it certain charge abilities. A glowing, color changing chameleon just sounds sick as hell.- 30 replies

I don't see why it's a problem for some creatures to be useful in one particular mode. Gigas and carcharos are damn near useless in PVE, apart from drops on Extinction and probably mini bosses on Fjordur. Wildcard is always going to try and balance the creature for both modes. It's way better than some of the other votes wanting a PVP behemoth, filling a very overcrowded role already. We already have giga, carcharo, rhynio, rex, spino, theri, mosa, tuso, titanosaurus, titans, astrocetus, basilisk, astrodelphis, shadowmane, stryder, reaper, magmasaur, rock golem, managarmr, mek, 11 different wyverns, and probably a few more.

I enjoy this submission, somewhat because it reminds voters the suggestions aren't guaranteed (we've been in probably 4 votes already; you'd think people would get it by now. Sick and tired of people voting for submissions obviously pandering votes.) Also gives a good bit of variety for the creature, and having it actually be unique other than other submissions wanting a giant murder machine after receiving carcharo and rhynio, in an already extremely crowded role. In the previous vote, I preferred the moa over gigantoraptor for gigantoraptor being large theropod #11, but that's my only problem with it. Real contender right here.

I just don't like this idea, has no real place in Ark. We already have 4 sauropods, with Titanosaurus being much easier to tame now with rhynio. It also gets pretty boring with yet another "ULTRA ENDGAME, OP CREATURE." Gets pretty bland when that role is already incredibly saturated, with plenty of room in other areas such as utility. Especially when we just got carcharo and rhynio, with fasola having some-what of a chance to be the exact same way. Ragnarok already has gigas, carcharos, tusos, mosas, rock golems, 4 wyverns, and titanosaurs.

Shantungosaurus is already planned for Ark Additions, where it has a much higher chance of being well thought out and unique. Don't see a point in voting it honestly. Especially when we just got carcharo and rhynio as "ULTRA OP ENDGAME TAMES!!!" Fasola has a chance to be the exact same way, in a map where wyverns and golems already exist to fill that role.

A creature spawning on one particular map doesn't mean it can't be useful on other maps, just look at rockdrakes. Before Fjordur, rockdrakes were still just as good on other maps as Aberration. Many of the other DLC creatures are still very good on other maps as well. A utility creature fits on a map like Scorched too, with creatures like the morellatops, thorny dragon, mantis, and jerboa having some form of utility. With the only real combat creatures being 3 different wyverns and the rock golem, which are plenty for one map.

Andrewsarchus most likely lived in Arid environments, yet it was put on one Norwegian styled map. I understand what you're getting at and can somewhat relate, but then again, Ark isn't exactly realistic when it comes to creatures. My main hope is that whatever creature wins the vote is appeasing and has a unique use.

[War Machine]-[Orginal]Desert Version Bastion Beetle
NerdyGremlin replied to CampJz's topic in Finalist Discussion archive
The idea of a beetle is neat, but a lot of people, including myself, are just sick and tired of these "ultra OP creature" concepts - especially the ones that always have to include gigas into the equation. I just don't see why people are so obsessed with such a rare creature spawn that has such easy counters already. A majority of people want simple creatures that allow for more thought out creativity than "IT HAS DUAL MINIGUNS, ULTRA-HARD TAME, THIS CONCEPT IS VERY MUCH GUARENTEED!!!" -
I just love this idea for being simple, well thought out, and creative. Surprising how there's 3 unique weather events on Scorched Earth yet the only creature able to interact, somewhat, with them is the jerboa. It's one of those concepts I see having a very high chance for Wildcard just to copy and paste into the game, that is if the Moa wins. Great Moa Names: -Moa Mia, Give Me Some Moa, Benito Moalini, Moa Lisa, Moa Where That Came From

I don't know about that idea. Moas didn't even have any visible wings or arms. I don't even see the gliding suggestion like the terrorbird, more so lessening the fall with all that fluff. Would be funny though seeing a giant emu Iron Maning through the sandstorms of Scorched Earth.

If this were to win, I would very much worry it would just be standard, large carnivore #13. I don't hate it and think it's pretty neat, but the potential problems prevent me from voting it very high for final voting process. That is if it makes the top 10.

I love this creature. I would see it being better off on Aberration IF Wildcard stays somewhat true to the concept. Still voting it high up if it makes it to top 10. Appreciate the simpler designs that aren't all in for pandering votes and making dull creatures (shantungosaurus and titanoceratops).
