  1. honestly i think they may share spawn weight with spinos because they have the same sort of behavior on my map and lower the number of spinos available. they also have the habit of once they are wiped out or tamed they usually won't respawn until a dino wipe happens.
  2. I feel like i might be going insane, but wasn't there a server configuration line in the .ini files that set a interval that the server would automatically wipe dinos? to correct issues like degrading spino spawns on the island and other maps?
  3. no longer getting the error, our joining just keeps timing out to launch screen after about 45 seconds. i also checked the "show player servers" box since the latest patch had to do with adding that. gonna give nitrado some time to shake things out and see what happens.
  4. yes i am doing hosting through nitrado and we are experiencing the same issue. no resolution so far. We are a partially linux community and we run the server without battle eye. not sure if that is helpful.
  5. steam doesn't allow you to run programs on multiple computers with the same log in... so the host needs to make another steam account and buy the game a second time on that steam account.. not sure if steamcmd has this same restriction but i have never actually used my login with steam cmd and i am not about to go buy this game to figure it out.
  6. I understand where you coming from OP but i have a community of about 12 people and I invested hardware because a community crunch or two ago they said we would be able to run our own servers as long as we weren't doing so commercially. the exclusivity was to hedge out competing server companies.
  7. I don't even play on official and am not concerned with content being spoiled as i am capable of controlling what i consume, but i still wouldn't have minded if they held pc release back with console as the game CLEARLY needs more time in the oven, those performance issues tho..
  8. I think it might be problematic for people who use visual confirmation to verify other's gear in pvp. but i don't really play pvp so i dunno. I am ok with it if there is a market for it
  9. I am still probably going to use Argent's for metal gathering on complicated terrain metal runs., usually i carry my wife on an ankylo, argent bred for weight and stamina. it lets you get at the metal nodes people don't regularly farm. same with castoroides, he's a good carryable wood gatherer. but i do see your point
  10. I think they are hoping they can manage to sell it to us twice kind of like bethesda sold us skyrim 15 times
  11. My private cluster community we've been running since 2015 were disheartened once they realized that there would be no new anything anymore for us on ARK SE and none of us know enough about ASA or ARK 2 to get excited. so for the first time since we started i got a unanimous vote to shut down our servers. so i packed up the saves and distributed them to everyone who wanted a copy and repurposed our server for some 7 days to die, valheim, and dissolved the other VMs i wasn't using anymore.
  12. I will concede that point. maybe i am just a nihilist. i'm one of those unofficial scrubs tbh i'm not purchasing the new game because i am a linux player and the linux client wasn't updated for years. i don't even know if their new anti cheat will be able to be disabled or if i can get it to work even. I think people need to not spend money on this company instead of complaining. they don't really care we are here saying all this, they just care about those $$. I agree there were a million better ways of doing it. but the sudden 180 sounds like their parent company snail games sent down an order and they are following it.
  13. let me get this straight. some of you got like 5k-20k hours of game play for like 50 dollars... and you expected this to last perpetually? i mean they are still providing the saves. all your work is still there. you just don't get to use their hardware rent free anymore is all. you'll be ok.
  14. I mean that's your call i was just trying to shed some light on the process. I mean the fact they mentioned it could be modded means it's obviously a resource issue on their part and they don't mind players doing that work. if it's a deal brekaer for you i don't really know what to say.
  15. to all of you who are complaining about third person view only, it is probably a design choice so they don't have to waste resources trying to make a dodge roll look correct in first person especially if they are going to be designing a heavy movement oriented system. I mean, i dunno i am not like a part of the team, i just know if i was going to be designing a game with alot of that sort of movement i probably would enforce third person as well. *shrugs* plus parkour just looks cooler in third person.
  16. I'm sorry this is frustrating you. have you considered playing on unofficial servers? they are generally way better and more stable because you don't have hundreds of players trying to do laggy crap on them. usually when i am unhappy with a free service i try a pay one so there is more accountability.
  17. I totally get that. word associations are important for communication, hell i am fairly certain most people will call them tek wyverns, that's what i called them when i pointed them out to my wife. me: hey babe they adding tek wyverns that look like they gonna breathe lasers her: don't lightning wyverns already breathe lasers? me: well technically yeah, but these probably won't be tameable her: *starts to do inventory to make sure we can build them when they are released* me: *let's her remain optimistic*
  18. you have the capability to run your own servers and they will of course provide you with any data from the official servers if they are ever brought down. unofficial servers will persist pretty much until their respective platform does something to break the game irrevocably. for those worried about your investments, keep in mind you have probably gotten an insane return on investment on this game and they ultimately are going to cater to the people who want to do more than log in refresh your timers and feed crap then log off for another week or so, which is what most official pve servers turn into. it's virtual real estate that you didn't really pay any upkeep on other than time, which you volunteered. if they ditch their current official format just set up your own server with your friends. honestly i've been playing since november of 2015 on an unofficial server almost exclusively other than a few few ill advised forays onto official. although i did like the arkocalypse servers.
  19. you really gonna argue non copyrighted fiction?
  20. been playing forever and have done all of the sorts of things you mentioned. Them adding easier ways to accomplish tasks that i struggled to do does not bother me, it does not diminish my accomplishments. This is what progress looks like, accomplishing tasks you used to struggle with easier. It's like if the first settlers were to get angry that we have airplanes and modern cars because it took them months to travel across the country.
  21. i know it's not alot of help but what causes this usually is you upload to a server then it crashes rolling back to a time before you were on the server. Server data is saved once every 15 minutes at minimum may be longer on official servers, transfer data is saved as soon as any changes are made to it ie. downloading or uploading.
