  1. Yeah, I thought it'd be the perfect fit because when you think about it The Center has it all: deep oceans, large underworlds, and extreme verticality. Although a fully aquatic creature would be fine, I think a better fit for taking advantage of ALL the environments The Center has to offer is a creature like this that has versatile mobility. A lot of people seem to associate The Center with water and therefore think a strictly aquatic tame is what it needs, but The Center is so much more than that. Could an aquatic creature fly to the top of the floating mountain? No? Exactly.
  2. So it can... Run on water now... At that point I would have given it a more fishy design kinda like that giant otter submitted in one of the other contests since this is basically a fantasy creature at this point. I don't see any Miracinonyx in this Miracinonyx.
  3. Looks good, however I worry that entries like this won't fare well because Archelon is already featured in at least one very prominent mod (ARK Additions: The Collection!). Even though Wildcard obviously could and has added creatures that were already in mods, ARK Additions is very popular and I think because of how much support it has very few people would vote for an official alternative to its creatures. Keep in mind that ASA will have cross-platform mod support, so mods will no longer be restricted to PC and everyone will be able to enjoy them, so "tell that to console players" won't really be an argument anymore. My advice is to avoid any creatures from ARK Additions because I just don't see most people supporting those entries unfortunately.
  4. Yeah I have stake in this entry so I hope it does well, haha. It got behind for a little bit but I've seen more dramatic comebacks so I think we still have a chance.
  5. It is semiaquatic. As I wrote in the dossier the saddle has a "furled" and "unfurled" mode where in furled mode the Nyctosaurus can fly and dive as normal. It is also immune to bioelectricity so it would be one of the better options for exploring the ocean. Granted Wildcard would end up doing whatever they want with the design, but these characteristics are all in my entry! Maybe it could even have the ability to collect rare oceanic resources like silica and black pearls, and get a weight reduction on them. That would improve its utility for people who want that. As long as the core concept stays intact I think any number of different ideas would be fun additions to this creature. Maybe it could even store electric shocks in its lightening rod-like crest and discharge them in its own electricity attack? You just never know with ARK!
  6. Is nothing allowed to just be fun? Haha. Also my concept can surf very fast, fly, swim, and is electricity-immune, so IMO that makes it a very useful travel mount!
  7. (Pasé esto a través de un traductor, lo siento si no es perfecto). ¡Agradezco su apoyo de cualquier manera! ¡Comentar contribuye en gran medida a ayudar a esta entrada! (I put this through a translator so sorry if it's not perfect.) I appreciate your support either way! Commenting goes a long way in helping this entry out!
  8. Livyatan would be great for this map but without entry merging, it seems like having at least three separate Livyatan entries isn't doing it any favors. You guys should see if you can get your entries merged anyway? https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/697388-introducing-livyatan-arks-aquatic-yuty-and-tuso-hunter-ability-rework/
  9. In my opinion Livyatan would be doing much better right now if all of these entries were merged, you guys should see if you can get that done since it's not automatic anymore:
  10. I don't know why Wildcard removed thread merging from these contests (although I suspect it had something to do with the Chimerarachne hissy fit last time) but Livyatan would be doing much better right now if there weren't three separate entries for it. You guys all really need to see if you can get all your entries merged in my opinion:
  11. Yes, very grim reaper-ish; supposed to be very fear-inducing when you see one for the first time.
  12. I'm definitely open to suggestions that would make this creature even more unique! I thought it was a clever idea, but I can definitely see how it may need more distinguishing characteristics to really set it apart from other creatures that serve a similar function like the maewing. In truth, who knows what creatures Wildcard may add to ASA's The Center that didn't yet exist when it was made. I could easily see maewings, shadowmanes, rock drakes, managarmrs, wyverns, or any number of aberrant creatures added to the map like we've seen on more recent free map releases.
  13. Great designs and presentations. It reminds me of the rotting prometheans and leviathans from Warhammer Fantasy, and that'd be my only input would be to give them similar mammoth skull or shipwreck saddles, which would be just as fitting for ARK and then enable me to live out my vampire pirate fantasies in ARK! Haha.
  14. This really should have won Aberration, instead we got a glider that they turned into a bat-winged dodo. 🤪 While this jumping spider has always been one of my favorite creatures in the votes, this time around I think The Center really deserves a good new flyer or swimmer.
  15. It is a Photoshop template you can download online! Just Google "ARK dossier template."
  16. Death Weaver (Mongolarachne, Creates Silk Traps & Ziplines) Common Name: Death Weaver Species: Mongolarachne gigas Time: Middle Jurassic Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild: Mongolarachne gigas isn't nicknamed the “death weaver” for nothing. Once it has a prey item in its grasp, escape is impossible. Too large to support itself on a traditional web, it has evolved to weave a net between its foremost appendages that it uses to ensnare prey from above. Its venom is extremely potent, able to knock out even fairly large creatures with ease. Male and female death weavers are extremely dimorphic. The significantly smaller male may be found resting against the tall spires towering up from this ark's many tropical islands. He is very timid and will rapidly flee if approached by a perceived threat. This can be avoided by dosing oneself with bug repellant before approaching, after which the male can be fed meat to tame him. The female is much rarer. She can only be found clinging to the sides of the floating island in the center of the ark fiercely guarding her egg sac. She will snatch anything that wanders too close; that is unless it is a survivor with a male death weaver riding on their shoulder, which will cause the female to let her guard down. Only then is it safe to approach and steal her egg sac. After this, even with a male present the female will still notice the theft after a few seconds so it is wise to make a hasty escape. Domesticated: Although the female death weaver can be ridden, a saddle is not necessary as she will carry the rider between her pedipalps. She can easily scale any cliff or overhang, able to create a natural silk zipline between two points and receiving no fall damage in the event she slips. The net she can create between her forelimbs may ensnare anything up to a T. rex in size, although she cannot move while pinning something down. Most trapped creatures can be knocked out with just a few bites. Artist's Notes: One of my favorite themes in fantasy is giant spiders. From Aragog in Harry Potter to Shelob in The Lord of the Rings, they've captured my imagination since childhood. Although ARK features a couple of giant spiders, one is an untamable boss and the other is—in my opinion—a poor representation of spiders. Ever since getting into ARK I've wanted a proper, creepy, anatomically correct giant spider and this is my attempt at making that a reality. Thank you for checking out my entry and I hope you've found it worth your vote!
  17. COMMON NAME: Nyctosaurus SPECIES: N. anemosilectus TIME: Late Cretaceous DIET: Piscivore TEMPERAMENT: Neutral WILD: Few creatures are more striking to behold than Nyctosaurus anemosilectus. This semiaquatic pterosaur can sometimes be found roosting atop any of the tall spires rising from this ark's multitude of tropical islands. Although normally docile unless provoked, Nyctosaurus does not like being disturbed while roosting and will attack anything that does so. This can be avoided by approaching under the cover of a ghillie suit, but be careful because it will still attack if the survivor approaches with a mount! This can make a roosting Nyctosaurus quite difficult to reach, but feeding it fish meat can earn its trust. DOMESTICATED: Nyctosaurus' saddle is a large sail fastened to its L-shaped crest and a surfboard-like platform strapped to its back, transforming the creature into some kind of living sailboard. Using its beak like a rudder and its wings to make tight drifting turns, a saddled Nyctosaurus is the most efficient means of travel across the water's surface. Although the sail, when unfurled, impedes Nyctosaurus' ability to fly, the saddle can be switched to “furled mode” where the sail is folded up against the crest. This enables the pterosaur to freely fly and dive. The crest also functions like a lightening rod, absorbing electrical shocks and rendering both mount and rider immune to attacks from the ocean's bioelectric denizens. ARTIST'S NOTES: I've been sitting on this idea for a LONG time, having actually forgotten about it after a point until something recently jogged my memory of it—just in time for this contest! It seems like most submissions to these contests are mid- to late-game tames with sometimes complicated taming methods and even more complicated abilities. For once it'd be nice to get a simple early- to mid-game tame with one or two straight-forward but incredibly fun abilities. The inspiration behind this was the debate as to whether or not the L-shaped crests of Nyctosaurus and kin supported membranes. Depictions of sailed nyctosaurs reminded me of sailboards, and that's when the bulb lit in my brain. Honestly, how cool would this be? Let's get this crazy idea into the game!
  18. I really don't expect much from the concept artists... But that thing does not remotely look like a scansoriopterygid. It is a dodo with bat wings. 💀
  19. Well you have to understand that generally speaking, it's a pretty common rule that contests only allow one entry per person, so I think it was a reasonable assumption for me to make that such a rule applied to this contest as well. I'm definitely not complaining because I can use it to my advantage in future creature contests. Even if it doesn't necessarily matter who submits an entry, there is still a degree of bragging rights if Wildcard implements a creature that you ultimately proposed first, and I want to be able to say that an idea I submitted made it into the game. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  20. I don't want to make any assumptions about you and I don't know if English is your first language, but Dimorphodon is literally a pterosaur, as in it falls within Order Pterosauria: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimorphodon "Pterosaur" is not a generic noun for anything that can fly, it is a specific taxonomic grouping; so yes, Dimorphodon is categorically a pterosaur. There is no rule that says pterosaurs can't be on Aberration. Even if a creature submission is a creature that could fly in real life, the whole premise of Aberration is that the creatures there have evolved to it's harsh subterranean conditions. The creators of this monkeydactylus came up with a perfectly reasonable explanation for why their pterosaur developed flightlessness, and there is nothing wrong with the idea of a pterosaur that has evolved flightlessness. What I'm realizing from both this entry and mine (another flightless pterosaur) is that the general ARK playerbase seems to lack a pretty fundamental understanding of nature and biology. There's no way to make that not sound rude but I don't mean it as an attack, it's just a frustrating observation.
  21. I gotta say I really respect your decision to remove the cheetah from this contest. I'm sure it was a difficult decision, but now other people have a more fair chance of making the Top Ten. On that note, I actually didn't realize that a single user is allowed to submit multiple entries. That does seem unfair and I'm surprised it isn't against the rules, but I guess I'll keep it in mind for future contests. Don't hate the player, as they say. 😛
  22. Elsewhere someone suggested what I thought was a really good idea that if transferred to other maps, this Hatzegopteryx would have an unlockable tek saddle that would equip it with artificial wings and restore its ability to fly! So I've added that as a "community suggestion" to the original entry.
