Charlie12345
Feb 2017 - Best way to take out auto turrets Hi there, Lots of old 2015 "how to take out auto turret" posts, but couldnt find any recent ones so thought I would start one. What is the best way to take out auto turrets - set to tames & players? And what is the best way to take out auto turrets set to players only? Is tames & players - to use a doed still? Is players only to drop dodo bombs? Cheers, Charlie
sal
tank them, usually using a turtle, have a player sit on a turtle, carry it there by quetz and drain drain drain. Or use a bronto, walk up to the turrets and drain drain drain if you have enough players you can shoot rockets while tanking the bullets, depending on setup and turret setting this might work. Charlie12345
Unfortunately the alpha tribe keep wiping our base out so dont have a chance to tame any Quetz's. Any other ideas that dont require high level dinos?
sal
Go Guerilla style. Kill them outside their base while they are farming and stuff. Camp next to red drops with a wooden club =) use traps, they can be very effective. put down a large bear trap surrounded by small bear traps. The large dino (rex, giga ...) will get trapped in the big trap, rider will fall down and get trapped in the small ones around. Then proceed to kill the player + dino. You can even pike a giga to death from behind if it is trapped

Charlie12345
Sal. Really liked your insightful comments about dealing with alpha tribes when you are solo and getting wiped a lot. Any thoughts on how you could get past the auto turrets if you are solo and getting raided a lot? Would really like to get into their base if I could. Brayn
Get a high HP (2.5k+) high speed (200%+) ptera with a 65+ armor saddle (blue drops and up), preferably 100% imprinted. Carry someone in primitive or better flak carrying a prim rocket launcher and 1 rocket. Ram the turret with the ptera, drop your buddy and have him fire at the turret point blank. 1 rocket should do it. Ptera may die, shooter will definitely die but the turret will go down. Find the weakest side of the enemy base with the fewest required turret demos to be able to safely bust open a wall. Once wall is open fly a ptera in and spin spin spin till you break wires/gennies to allow for a more robust assault. Alternatively, back a golem up directly into the turrets and use rockets/c4 under/around the golem to bust a hole. If every inch of their base has at least 10 turrets covering the zone this will be difficult/impossible.
alex1299wall
The easiest way to take down auto turrets is to go to there base with as many stegosaurus with saddles that you have players in your tribe, tame any dinos that you can find in the area or bring your own, turtles, deo's or anything large is good, (deo are good to heal make sure you fill them with meat) all get on your stegosaurus with c4 in hand, send in your meat shields these will either run out the turrets set to survivors and tames or just protect you. Then ride in on your stegosaurus these will get shot at by the players only turrets, but it will hit there plates which will protect you and with a decent stegosaurus saddle they will only take between 3 - 5 damage per shot. you should easily drain there players only turrets or ride right up to the turrets and plant C4 on there foundations or generator. Or use rocket launchers with a buddy on a stegosaurus in front of you but if they have a turret set to wilds only it will get shot out of the air and kill you. This method is only required if they have put stone or metal walls covering there power outlet. If the power outlet is exposed fly straight at it on a fire wyvern and attack the cable which will power down the turrets. I have used these methods on an unofficial pc server against cave bases with up to 30 turrets they cannot kill the stegosaurus quick enough. Also for bases that are in the open deo's can be rigged with c4 and dropped in by quetz or wyvern but agian if they are set to wild only it will get shot out of the air. Hope this helps. This is why I the 2 quarters of my turrets set to mounted tames or survivors and about 1 quarter set to survivors only . All on max range 1/4 to Wild dinos only shorts range and this is with over 400 turrets and with a butt loads of plant x set to max range attack everything to kill wild animals before they give to the turrents

Unfortunately we have a couple bumbling necromancers around here. That used to be the strategy though...and it was a large part of the reason flyer speed was nerfed. ArkPlayer007
Stegos need to be changed so the plates don't protect the player as well. Makes auto turrets kinda useless. You could have a whole wall of turrets and it won't matter if they got a few stegos and heal them between jaunts in to drain.

The whole point of the plates is to protect the rider , as it says in the dossier
ArkPlayer007
I didn't say they should not protect at all. Just not as well, at least from auto turrets. It makes tanking bullets too easy. Or if they don't change the plates mechanism, then make the stego take more damage from getting hit in the plates by the turrets. Fine, protect the rider but the stegos are OP
Olivar
Have to agree, while the point of the stego's was to deal with turrets easier, they made them completely obsolete right now. They should definitely soak the bullets for the players, but not at only take 3 damage per shot, that's just ridiculous. Or we can all mindwipe into speed and completely ignore bases altogether.
