  1. I quit legacy 3 months ago when the writing was on the wall (and after I got raided by exploiting box tribes on extinction who stole years of work), but I started up recently on official and all the horror stories are unfounded. People are nicer in general, minus a few trollish highschoolers pretending to be adults, but mostly very nice people. Prices are a fraction of what they were on legacy, and the bred dinos are of a much higher caliber. In a lot of ways I wish I left legacy years ago had I known official wasn't the dumpster fire that some made it out to be. In time the ARK bug will bite you and you'll want to return. I've been playing since early access so I'm not some starry-eyed scrub. Point is, after playing all these years I came back a bit more than three weeks ago and already I'm established with everything but tek, which I'll probably have in a couple weeks once I get around to caving. It's amazing how fast you can get everything back when you know the exact path you need to take from scratch, but doing so on Valg helps quite a bit, as well as taking a retreat to extinction to grab a few gachas and snow owls. It might take a new player months and years to get anywhere, but its a cakewalk for those with experience, and then you'll forget legacy was even a thing.
  2. is wildcard insolvent? what's going on with official servers?
  3. you might want to deal with the chinese box tribes and their infestation of north american servers first. Maybe prevent someone from joining if their ping is above 100ms or something. Between their duping and overall anti-social behavior, plus server pings in excess of 150ms during prime time, playing ARK on official is basically punishment if you aren't an early bird. What's the point of buying a seasons pass when the same box tribes will ruin the new maps?
  4. looking forward to the 8x extra life event again. Of course, if anything is changed from last year (i.e. no 8x), then I would anticipate a large drop in donations through ARK, as many of us would prefer to donate directly to charities for tax reasons (can't use the extra life donations as tax credit if you live outside the US), so tread carefully with changing the incentives Ced
  5. I'm still confused why Easter doesn't have a breeding event, especially given that the easter bunny is a symbol of fertility and sexy times, even more so than cupid and valentines day. Honestly, I'm just running low on boxes of chocolates, i wish we at least had something similar for easter, i dunno... like a chocolate bunny that does the same thing as a box of chocolates.
  6. Your sentiment towards Wildcard sounds genuine, but not all of us make excuses for others when we're not obligated to. It also sounds like you might be the disagreeable type. That's fine, not everyone can distance themselves emotionally from a discussion. The appropriate action by Wildcard is to acknowledge existing bugs and work with the community to eliminate them, or to explain why they can't be fixed. In the end what is worse? Pretending that various bugs from small to game-breaking don't exist (like they've done for years), or be proactive with the community? I get what you're saying, and I'm not discrediting how much effort has gone into the game or how good it is, I'm getting close to 4k hours played so I'm obviously a fan. But, I know that while you and me might play ark in spite of the bugs, new players run the other way when these bugs are encountered, and because ARK doesn't have a subscription model or an item store, once a player has purchased the game then wildcard doesn't have any motivation to keep them playing. In fact, it's financially counterproductive for Wildcard to keep new players, as that ultimately increases hosting costs to maintain an adequate number of servers. ARK's business model (in theory) is to sell as many copies of ARK as possible, while retaining the least number of players, especially at this point in the development cycle. ARK will never be more than a niche game, and part of that has to do with Wildcard being an indie developer that struggles to keep their game even functioning 100% of the time.
  7. not bugs that have existed since early access, and that have existed for years after launch.
  8. "we're working on bugs" Guess we're still in early access...
  9. For your consideration (developers live stream) I have compiled a short list of in-game memes that are still not working correctly in ARK, and that turn off new players and frustrate older players: Babies not eating - Occasionally a baby dino (usually Rexes, Gigas, Yutis) will stop eating the food in their inventory and starve to death. DC'ing and falling off Flyer - Once upon a time you would remain on flyer if your client Disconnected. Why this was changed is a mystery, as disconnecting is a common occurrence for most ARK players, and disconnecting over water/lava/wild carnivores is a death sentence that feels like developers are trolling their player base. Underwater Fog - Why this is even still a thing on The Island is a mystery. If i go from snow biome to warmer biome and it's precipitating, the weather changes from snow to rain. When you go from dry land to underwater and its foggy out, you should not see fog under water, period. It breaks immersion and is not realistic. Preferably the fog should just be removed entirely from the Island if underwater fog cannot be removed, but that would make playing on the Island more enjoyable and we can't have that. Indoor Rain - If you build your ceilings too high up, then it will rain indoors. I'm not sure how this could be fixed, as it appears one's toon has a detection bubble around them that extends only so far, and if no ceilings are within range of that bubble, you still see rain. Maybe I'm wrong about the cause, but it's a huge immersion breaker and new players always ask why they see rain in their base. This was fixed once, but then broken again soon after, so we know this issue is addressable. Falling through teleporter - You and your dinos that are not standing right next to the teleporter terminal will fall through the floor/ceiling when reappearing on a teleporter elsewhere. Using a whip or whistling to follow will yank the dinos back up onto the teleporter, but its a bug that breaks immersion and frustrates players who don't want to build teleporters on the ground. "Drop All" discards items that are inside Folders too - People put items in folders so they can transfer items easier or prevent some items from transferring when you click on "Transfer All." Yes, I can type in a search for an item and click "Drop All," but if i want to dump my inventory quickly then this becomes an issue if I have valuables hidden in folders. If I've put an item in a folder, I likely do not want it dropping in the first place. Meshing - Yes, we know you guys can't fix it because it's a complicated issue, but the problem still exists none-the-less and breaks the game in so many ways for pvp and pve, from immersion to outright exbloits. Paint Sprayer doesn't auto-load paint from inventory - More an annoyance than anything else, but every other weapon/tool in the game that uses ammo will auto-reload when empty--except for the paint sprayer, forcing you to open inventory and manually load more dye and lose your color region settings. Mindwipe recipe note is incorrect - When you find a note for the mindwipe recipe, it calls for far less ingredients than is actually required to craft a single windwipe. The note should be updated to read the correct amount of ingredients because this reflects on the quality of the game.
  10. Honestly as players of ARK we're so used to beta testing bugs on the live servers (many of which have never been fixed since early access) that it seems weird for there to be a beta server to test for bugs that probably won't ever get fixed. My point is, are we seeing a new Wildcard that is more vigilant with squashing bugs and give new players a reason to keep playing, or is this just a one time thing? Then there's valentines, an event that people look forward to all year, yet no word on that either this year, which trust me is going to leave the forums in an uproar if we don't get the breeding event, or if you decide to release new kibble/S+ with the valentines breeding event and ruin the week because devs are fixing bugs and killing our babies. Just my own thoughts, take them for what they're worth.
  11. oh god that would suck if they didn't do a valentines day event this year. They've already skipped halloween twice, so also killing the best breeding event that we look forward to would probably be a sign that the game is nearing end of life for development, especially considering they could very well just repeat previous year's events because there's nothing that needs to be altered from previous years.
  12. i spawned in up in the air and died, then i respawned and had all my inventory lol. I think they did a 10 minute roll back.
  13. Very likely the case, and it makes me wonder if they ever test transfers internally before patches go live. Maybe it's just dumb luck that transfers have worked without many problems until now? This realization is frightening, because what else do they not test? How much content is implemented "from the hip," with devs crossing their fingers every time a patch goes live? I guess we'll find out soon just how bad they effed up this time; from their twitter:
  14. If we don't get a server rollback, then someone needs a smack to the head over at wildcard because your incompetence just effed over a lot of PC players and their hard work. Trivial to some, but heartbreaking for others.
  15. Not sure how widespread this is, but the transmitter appears to be broken. Moving items into the ARK Data tab just eats the item and it's gone, and uploading character deletes all inventory and equipped gear. And yes, the items were ready to transfer and timer was finished (for those itching to ask that trolly question), and I've tried multiple times with the same results: losing all inventory and arriving naked on another server. Anyone else experiencing this after recent patch? If this is widespread then its a serious game breaking bug that needs to be fixed asap
  16. hmm, lets hope this Atlas MMO will have less bugs than ARK players have had to enjoy over the years... For the love of god don't copy paste code from ARK ?
