  1. Because they are getting the stats the parents had when they were first born. The points you spend afterwards don't transfer to the babies.
  2. This has been this way over 5 years. This will never change. IF the points actually counted, then after spending more points on the speed stats, players would be complaining about how their tames disappeared on game saves. This happened more commonly with managarmr for the first year or so. By cutting back on how much it could move , they cut down the instances of them disappearing by enough that we don't hear those complaints much anymore. You can still absolutely lose your mana still by bursting fast at the exact wrong moments. Giving all tames this added bonus on speed stats would lead to all sorts of animals doing the same thing because they move too fast while the server has stopped dealing w/ moving players. The wasted points can be removed through breeding. The mutations will fill up all the remaining available space in due time.
  3. I forgot about my Gasbags birth, so I logged on to claim my 90% raised gasbag babies. Big ups to the maewing posse.
  4. The balls of energy no longer track you and instead just fire out randomly, no need for cactus broth in that regard. There are still the nameless and reapers though so the cactus broth is super handy with that. You can pretty much just use a tek suit and tek bows or shotguns. If you had 275%+ tek bows and lots of element in order to burn up element shards, I would use that instead of the shotguns. Shadowmanes or any top stat dino that can go in would be fine setup right in front of RW in the pathway to him. YOu could have 4 shadowmanes/velons in front attacking unridden and then you have 2 people up above hovering in tek suits knocking out the tentacles, it could work maybe. Also, you are limited in how many tames you can get inside, no matter what you do - drops are hard to come by and they are often in horrible locations for setting up, and the platforms have their own challenges. The megas are hit and miss, we have used them but we had so much firepower from players and tames, that we were sure to win no matter what. When the mega bite does work, its insane damage. But they like to use their grab attack when unridden which does next to nothing. If you had 2 people riding them instead in front of Rockwell just for the moments he's vulnerable, then I'd think the 2 people w/ shotguns hovering in tek suits might be enough for the tentacles. We used to go in w/ drakes and invis or not from my experience, you will draw agro and the drakes will come out bloody even with a 124 saddle. Usually at least 1 person would lose a drake out of 5 to 6 people going in. I don't recommend this strategy anymore since its super easy to do the tek suit hover + firepower right down in front of Rockwell method.
  5. Mutagen can be used on both bred and wild caught tames or first born from wild eggs. Only wild caught tames and babies from wild eggs can get a bonus that is inheritable. The total bonus is +5 to health, +5 to stamina, +5 to weight, and finally +5 to melee for a grand total of 20. If you are breeding seriously, then each best stat you want to improve will, most likely, have to be mutagened separately since its doubtful you will find 2 best stats on 1 tame. To give an example, the best stats I have found often end up taking close to or in excess of 25% of all available points. This would mean , to find one tame w/ the best hp and melee, they would need to have 48-50% of all points from that wild tame end up in those 2 stats. This is beyond unlikely, you could play this game for 100 years and never find that combination. So the point of all that is, if you want to boost your best hp/st/we/md you will end up mutagening 4 different animals before combining or beginning mutation work. You can mutagen well bred tames, but they only give +1 in the 4 stats we are talking about for a grand total of +4 levels. This bonus is not transferable, the children of the animals here cannot inherit this bonus, they would have to be mutagened the same way as their parents to receive that same bonus. On reaching max stat level, we are talking about hitting 255 points in 1 stat. You won't be finding any tames like that in the wild, so you don't have to worry about this problem for a long time. Lets be generous and say you have a 60 point melee to work up. Once you hit 20 mutations, your melee will now be at 100. There's still 154 point points you can use up, you can't hit 255 because that's an odd # and mutations come in 2 points at a time therefore 254 is the limit. This is still over 70 more mutations away. By the time you get this far, you would be an old pro and won't need our advice. Mutating is no longer available to any tame who has reached a count of 20 mutations total between paternal and maternal ancestry counts being added together. So a dino with 0/20 and 20/20 is locked from mutating just like a 10/20 and 10/20 count animal would be. But just because that parent can't supply a mutation doesn't mean it cant keep happening. Its just the chances are cut in half, or slightly below half(this is because the other parent can still mutate if its count is below 20). I'm not sure if we have settled the fact of whether its a 50/50 split on each parents chances to mutate or if its 55/45 yet, but lets just say 50/50 for simplicity's sake. SO if a dino has a 7% chance normally to get a mutation , it's now 3.5% when one parent has a 20 or more count. This is for any stat, so its now a chance spread out between 6 to 7 different stats. Getting the right mutation is an even smaller % because we have to multiply that 3.5% by 1/6 or 1/7. The point of all this is, it would take over 550 breeders every breeding session to force the mutation you want to show up in a few days. This is not an easy process. There is a way to escape this conundrum though, but it involves lots of extra breeding and its only for the most dedicated and/or those who don't' have kids and spouses or are simply trying to spark a divorce.
  6. Considering this game can be modded....why can't modders add 1st player view in for those who want it?
  7. You have to breed the male to females that have less than 20 mutations. You don't' try using matching females because they are equally useless at producing a mutation as the male is. Once a dino has 20 or more total mutations (adding both sides of ancestry together), it can no longer produce a mutation. I would say your efforts towards bringing those stats up higher will be a very slow process. By the time you get anywhere, that original breeder will be up closer to 150 points in melee.
  8. If the server is no more, then the character is no more. I could be wrong, but I don't think its coming back.
  9. You create a new character. You then have commands available to you to give yourself the same amount of xp, you can force your character into the tribe , and you find one of your tames that you have imprinted, there's a command to switch your new specimen id # into all tames that were previously owned by your former char. You will want all the tames you have imprinted out and unpodded so that the command can swap in the new specimen # to all of them. To force yourself into the tribe, you look at a wall or some structure owned by the tribe and type cheat ForceJoinTribe Transfer those imprints to your new character(for the playerID that's the # on the implants, the old one would be found on an old implant or an imprinted tame should have it in there): TransferImprints <oldPlayerID> <newPlayerID> <NewImprinterName> I found that string posted on the forums here by @invincibleqc, the other commands you need should be findable here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=454529617
  10. Look for a webpage if you do not know the owner of the server, ask around on the server. If someone knows the administrator - they are your fixer.
  11. This has happened in the past for me. I haven't seen it happen in a long time though. Check the bodies you see on the map, do they have implants in their inventories? It can happen if, you transfer off the server, it crashes and rolls back to an earlier point right after you leave. I'm pretty sure when this happened to me, there was no implant in the body found on the server. Asking for a Character restore from a GM was the only way to fix.
  12. There's no definable time frame. CHeck your email and spam folder, there should have been an automatic reply. Also, if they do something with the ticket, there could be info here in the help section. Log in like you did to file the report. CHeck under your name, 'My Activities' . In there is a list of help requests you've filed, the newest at the top. If they have done something, it might show there.
  13. Sadly, if your favorites list isn't complete or my survivors list in game doesn't have the server listed, you will have to narrow it down like a detective would. You said you got raided with implies it was a PVP server. We can't tell from your post whether it was an official server or an unofficial server. Assuming it was an official server, you can narrow it down by if it was a small tribes server or regular pvp server, or was it a legacy network server.... You know the map you left it on, so there should be a very small discrete amount of servers to go through to find your character. Now if you were on an unofficial server, you have no idea if the server is still up. There's no guarantee the server owner of an unofficial server has kept it up all this time.
  14. Depending on the severity of the problems with the used game save and maybe how many people message the google doc and complain.... I've seen them take down a server that had come back up after over 45hrs down and all the pods on the server were at 0% charge. Every dino stored in cryo was gone. They took the server down and found an earlier save point which didn't have that problem. I would say it just depends on the severity of issues found after a server is brought back up. The majority affected will get concessions if needed.
  15. Assuming its actually crashed and not disconnected from the internet while still running, you should be ok. The server has been down for 31 hrs now, so if it actually crashed(which is most likely) it will be frozen in time from that moment of the crash + it will have to roll back a little based on the last good save point. Report down servers https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd8Xn6z_RP7fxGgH_86VZAKDzqmbDboanrC51GSpr_1v9_PLA/viewform here. This is the official server issues report tool.
  16. Its probably far more complicated than just dupers crashing the servers.
  17. Did anyone from your server report it to the right place? This isn't it. https://ark.gg/outage
  18. Considering there's steam network, xbox, ps4 - it would help everyone if you gave more info than a #. You shoudl report that with the proper tool if you want this to be looked at. https://ark.gg/outage There's a copy of this link here in the forums. The forums doesn't get a gm to look at your server, the report form does.
  19. I know I hadn't verified for myself, one way or the other, if that solution would fix it for myself. I should have followed up with my results at the time I had the problem. I ended up experiencing the problem for some time after trying a few things. I think the last thing I did was uninstalled steam and reinstalled it. I'm not sure if that is what fixed it, but the problem did go away afterwards. I also stopped playing the game I was playing, using the controller, around the same time. I can't confirm if either action had any real impact on the problem.
  20. report it here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd8Xn6z_RP7fxGgH_86VZAKDzqmbDboanrC51GSpr_1v9_PLA/viewform
  21. Do you have a controller setup with steam for other games? If so, someone said if that was the case - to go into big picture mode, go to controller settings, then remove all check boxes in there. Restart steam and it should go away.
  22. I've been playing mmo's since city of heroes. This is not an MMO, it doesn't play like one, and it doesn't save like one. The reason it's not going away is because they would have to switch the game to a dynamic save system that saves the world in increments in the background. The players who have been duping , the forked variation of the engine, and the fact this game is now in its end cycle of publishing are enough to say - they will not change the way the game world saves. The player community actually was asking about this over 2 years ago and the basic answer we got was - this will not be changed. Games use UDP type connections, not TCP. UDP is a stream of packets where each one flows after the next sequentially. TCP uses shotgun scatter shot style packets that can arrive at different times and are sent all over redundantly , duplicates are ignored and reorganized after receipt. UDP have to show up in order or else you lose connection. IF packets up and stop for some reason, the host waits a period of time for the next one to arrive, if it never shows up - then the connection is terminated. This is what is happening to you. Why the packets stop showing up - is probably impossible figure out if it's not your modem or router causing the problem. LIke i said before, and it still stands, either your router, your modem, your isp , or any one of the 30 computers your connection goes through to the game server is causing you a nightmare. It could very well be a router of the server host, but it's not the server itself that's causing your connection to drop. What is happening is the server thinks your connection is still valid because there was no handshake between your client and the server signing you out, and it appears to be that the hardcoded timeframe for the server to assume the connection is dead is 10 minutes. I would think that's too long, but its entirely possible there's a good reason for the time taken. Is AT&T your ISP? I had problems with this game and other things I did on the internet when I had them as my ISP. I'm lucky that there's at least 1 other ISP in town and the connection problems I had , just like this one , went away after I got rid of AT&T.
  23. how do u see that? i'm lookin now and can't figure that one out. oh i see now, if you hit H key to see the extra details, it will show you that timer if you are wearing those. that's great info tyty!
  24. WHen you are kicked but the game sees you as still online means your connection to the server was severed from inbetween you and the server, the server is still up and thinks you are still in game. It takes that extra time for the connection to timeout and it then shuts down the connection. That particular problem is actually quite rare. If its happening repeatedly, there's probably something wrong with hardware your connection is going through, not your pc or the server. World saves are extremely annoying, but will never go away. 20-25 seconds is actually quite quick compared with some servers. Depending on how many things the server has to go through on a save, it can reach over a minute on well populated and built up servers. This is the moment manas get eaten by the game quite often. If you want to avoid a huge impact from this, set up a timer on your phone so you can be ready for the save before it happens. This is the only solution, the pause to the server on save will not be "fixed". They will not change the way the game saves at this point.
  25. The time and date on battlemetrics doesn't necessarily line up with yours or my time zones. Therefore I don't use that as a basis for calculation. I'm pretty sure it's based on GMT 0:00. *side note - did you know that even though it's Sunday for me here in sunny California - it's Monday already in Japan and China. Additionally - Remember, the whole world is broken up in lots of time zones....one zone will have to be the last one to change to the next day. I said what I said at that time because when i searched it up, I could see both the dead server and the new server in the list. It does that when they switch to a new IP address for a server. I used the hours total battlemetrics listed that the server was down until it decided it wasn't, then subtracted the time you said it was down at the time of your post here. This resulted in the answer of 3hrs, I think? When this happens to servers I've played on, I've had allies and tribemates that thought the servers were down for days because they didn't redo a search on battlemetrics to notice the new server listing due to IP address changes. Maybe I assumed you did something similar to them and made a bookmark of your favorite server on your web browser so that you could easily check if you server went back up w/out having to relaunch the game repeatedly. I'm truly sorry if that offended you by my assuming such a thing.
