Parroter
So i have been playing ark on PlayStation for some time now and i am having trouble with the alpha dragon fight. Even while wearing full riot armor, the dragon still manages to snipe me with a fireball or kill me in another way. Can someone help?
Dreadcthulhu
Get better at dodging is one option. Bring plenty of medbrews to chug & extra armor too, granted with the console UI switching might be an issue. Another option is to ride a magmasaur; its saddle protects you from the fire breathe & the dimorph minions, and its high drag weight means it will usually draw the dragon's aggro while your other tames attack it. Last time I did alpha dragon I rode a magma and used 10 shadowmanes, 8 deinos, and 1 daedon following a shadowmane, ended up being a pretty low stress fight. Highcommander
It is important to know that the Dragon fight is harder than the other fights previous to it because it does "Percent based damage" with its fire breath attack. This does at least 20% of anyone's (dino or persons) health, I say at least because it does some additional flat damage ontop of that. The Fireball attack (not to be confused with the Fire breath attack) is the one that can directly attack a rider. This does a burst of damage to an area (an AOE attack). The key to winning this fight is to bring Herbivores which take reduced damage from the fireball attacks. Tips to win: Herbivores that do big damage (such as Therizinosaurus, Deinonychus) A single Yutyrannus will buff your other dinos, making the fight much easier. You should be on the Yutyrannus to use the buff and keep it safe. Good Saddles don't mean much in this fight as the Dragon does most of his damage in percent based, meaning the saddle doesn't block much of the damage. All the herbivors should have stacks of Sweet Veggie Cakes which will heal them up. Make sure they all have a saddle so you can switch between them and force feed them the cakes to heal them faster. Bring Wyvern Milk (if you can get it) to make your player immune to the Flame Breath. A good backup dino is a High Damage wooly rhino with veggie cakes to heal, this The dimophadons that spawn will kill you even while you are mounted so you need to shotgun kill them fast, or use the dinos to attack them. If you wear high lvl Ghillie armor they will attack your dinos instead. Spread your Dinos out, this makes the Dragons attacks hit less of them at a time. Pro tips: If you have a Magmasur they dont take any damage from flame breath or lava. And if you have a bunch of metal ingots on them they can attack from a distance to avoid any attacks. If you have a pack of Deinonychus the bleeding damage and pack boost is very good at taking the Dragon down fast. If you want to try to go in with 1 dino, you can use a high lvl Deinonychus and only attack the back left foot of the Dragon, he wont be able to hit you and you can solo him with a single dino that way.
