goodclone223 Posted June 13, 2020 Share Posted June 13, 2020 connection time out Epic Games non-dedicated Every time I try and join my friends or we try and connect to eachother and it keeps giving us connection timed out. Care to bet its a version mismatch issue? Generally, the only time there is an issue with versions is when it is a major version change, like 311 to 312. Also, it is possible for servers to have a different version than the client; that is if a patch is only needed on the server side, they make it for the server code, and the same if a fix is only need for the client. In short they don't give a poop and advice to contact Ark's devs directly. From what I've read on this forum Ark's devs don't seem very concerned about unofficial servers... DisTer Posted June 15, 2020 Share Posted June 15, 2020 Ok, we (my friend and I) finally managed to connect to each other. We have both the EGS version, and the server was an non-dedicated one. We had to download Hamachi, connect on the same network, and then i hosted the non dedicated server and he joined it from his solo game with the command open ip:port (ip given by Hamachi, port 7777). Kaprosuchus Posted June 16, 2020 Share Posted June 16, 2020 even though they are both PC, the steam version was so intimately tied into the steam back end it's best to think of them as different platforms completely because they had to make alot of changes for it to work with the EGS.
