  1. Jen said "end your journey across the ARKs" in one place, and then in multiple places the other Devs have now admitted that they will keep providing updates and content for ARK, including the original post of this goddamn thread that says "expansions" to ARK. If you think ARK is dead because of one single post Jen made, you need to work on basic comprehension. That said, I'm happy to see a new ATLAS trailer and see more content of it, more of the concept. It might be good. But planning 2+ years in early access, I can't commit to it in the way that I committed to ARK in June '15. Early access, the Great Flyer Nerf, and the legacy/official split were a lot to take. Lots of needlessly dead dinos! Lots of deleted survivors that were never replaced. So, I can't really buy in 100% to ATLAS, but I sure as hell will be watching it closely... ... Because perhaps only 2 or 3 times ever, a game has gripped me like ARK has. A 100% unknown developer with a concept that BLOWS up and becomes a genre-defining adventure was something that I did NOT see coming when I bought ARK for 5 dollars way back when, nor did I know I would spend 6000+ hours on this game over the years and STILL get excited over builds, breeds, and battles. There has been such poop in ARK... But the experience this game has provided is unmatched in the entirety of my life.
  2. @Weiss, check out the PvE-specific griefing section of https://survivetheark.com/code-of-conduct/ After years of the forum staff trying to convince us that griefing is allowed, it is finally an explicit inclusion in the game COC. By point-of-fact griefing -IS- against the rules, and offending tribes will have action brought against them. I say this because a well-known griefer on my official server was fully dev-wiped after this policy rolled out. I say THAT with 100% confidence because I have screenshots of a WildCard-emblem-carrying Survivor who straight-up -TOLD- us he was the one that did the deleting of the griefer's base. Get screenshots bud. Put a good report together. WildCard isn't screwing around with PvE griefers anymore. This is a fantastic thing. It will open up tameslots, and clear the map of assholes who want to PvP to cause grief but can't stand the looming threat of literally every other player on the server possibly wiping them. *About saying the phrase "PvP to cause grief"* - I understand that in PvP your base, defenses, and tames are open-targets, and you accept this by playing on a PvP server. But part of the fun for a lot of people is knowing they are pissing other players off while they destroy all their stuff (PvP to cause grief), and that is just weird. From my experience some of these people don't last on PvP because they become huge targets, so they come to PvE to push the envelope on griefing so they can feel like a faux-alpha.
  3. Free week... So I will probably wait until at least the 15th to try anything with Extinction, or even buy it.
  4. Who is TEA/DSG and why does everyone think they own conquest? I am honestly asking, I would like to know from the community peoples.
  5. Holy hells. Let's write a book about ARK's story, I know someone in publishing (specifically Sci-Fi publishing), and have a few stories myself... I am personally excited for Extinction for the fact that we will most likely get a lot more fleshed-out information about the story of ARK. There is such possibility in the unknown of ARK right now, so many cool things to be discovered...
  6. I feel like it's nice they are getting better at making teaser videos. But DX12, S+, numerous game/map issues with Island, SE, Abb, and tame-cap are still issues awaiting address. 2 of those might be fixed post-Extinction, while the game slides toward the obsolete. Or, they just won't fix them and say, "Well, this IS the last ARK xpac so the journey is over, therefore we are canceling S+ and DX12 implementation. Thanks!" We shall see, I suppose. We shall see.
  7. Yeah! Horses are really the only thing that is close to being very functional for KO'ing stuff. And even they are on a 3.5x damage-to-torpor multiplier. Scorpions are on a 3x multiplier, while crossbows are on a 4.5x multiplier. Horses come close but only on shallower torpor pool creatures with DECENT HP, like bulky herbivores, carnos, raptors, pteras, stuff like that. I have a 900% melee horse that really saved me tons of arrows! But... the scorpion being on a ~4x multiplier would be splendid!

    Wrong route

I've seen flying Mosas, on Island. Funny stuff.
  9. That is crazy! You really believe in a well-rounded navy. I take only one squid out, 2 tanks, and the squid is 615% melee and 40,000 HP. Got a 98 armor saddle on it, and its 97% imprinted so it shreds everything.
  10. PC official PVE: I got a cheap JM hazard chest BP and an ascendant ravager saddle BP from surface southwest drops! Just need a few more hazard pieces to have a decent set.
  11. Why are you white-knighting one single post where I misunderstood a statement?
  12. You are partly right. I say only partly because the ARK playerbase is widely varied, with people playing from other countries that in many cases hate American people, and they choose to come to NA cluster servers on the PvE side of ARK and do what they can to control and grief. We've all seen this for years now. The chief offenders are going to build more pieces to preserve their pillar-fields, nothing you can do about that! But some of us have one base location and would rather not have a hostile foreigner or a new player who thinks "oh, cool spot, im sure this person wont mind if i build so close to them they can't expand." But you are just pushing a solution that our friends at WildCard are trying to get away from... Which would be...... Actual Enforcement. Like any business, they are trying to save money. Save money by having less servers. Save money by cutting community staff. Save money by cutting GM staff. They are trying to find a catch-all solution for this problem. There isn't one. I will admit, I have 1x1 huts built around my base and they will stay there until this situation discussing and reprogramming the minimum structure count to meet material-decay timer comes to a close, because i would rather not be caught off guard and log in to a new chinese neighbor who builds so close that the ramp leading out of the building I finished can't be completed. I might be part of the problem, I suppose, but I will admit: I'm not taking down my 1x1s any time soon. @Jatheish, there isn't a catch-all solution. We are a dynamic, online community in a 24/7 persistent world. You all have to have active moderation, and a ticket system. You will need GMs to come to servers to decide things. It is part of this great animal we all call ARK. People are rude and mean... Even ones that don't say swear-words (forum-censorship, we are all children) will act more immature and vulgar than you care to imagine. If you "the rules" it to death, there will be mass attrition from ARK, moreso than in times past.
  13. http://www.dododex.com/taming/castoroides Castoroides, otherwise known as the Giant Beaver or for those pressed for time, Beaver. I do not know where some people get their information.
  14. I get that you are on legacy so the dinos have been with you for over 2 years, and that sucks. My first 150 perfect tame in all of ark (a 150 anky named Pokey) was on pve-official37 when it went down. It was a hard thing, seeing them all go but i didn't have the infrastructure to switch my 350 dinos to another server. So I get it. I miss Pokey, I had a hell of a time anky-strutting around and walloping the poop out of things on him. So it's hard for you to cull your 500+ because of the memories, and might off more if they reworked the kibble trees. But you are an exception to a rule I think many people are not seeing: If half the kibble dinos are required to have a working kibble farm (say, only 20 needed instead of 40 *these are made-up numbers* ), people will not magically want to tame (or breed) less dinos. They will tame (or breed) up to their limit, as we all will, with 20 other dinos. This is not my opinion, this is a easy-to-understand fact about ark players in general. What I'm saying is, reworking the kibble tree will only make the game easier. It won't help FPS drops, it won't help tame-caps. It will just make taming and imprinting a little less messy.
  15. Damn that Jat! Such a cheater. I hope your report is taken seriously Jen.
