  1. Are we talking about the inventory crash, or anything that'll cause the game to quit? For me (nvidia) the inventory crash is 99% of the problem.
  2. Not that I've found. And I agree -- it is awful.
  3. Does anybody know what the ini changes were in 26.23? One of last night's patches made my player movement really bad. It's like the game is trying to snap me into places that I shouldn't be. I'm on a LAN with the server, so I doubt it's a connection issue. I'm hoping there's something in the ini I can edit to undo whatever the patch did.
  4. It's kind of handy actually. When your tribemate's game crashes while he's in a bad place you have a chance to drag him to safety.
  5. That looks right. Did you do a dino wipe afterward?
  6. They're out there, but not so easy to find. We tamed a low-level one and gave up looking. And of course a few days later I happened to spot a 135 on the side of a mountain, which is now happily smashing rocks for us.
  7. The inventory thing is still broken for me. Might even be worse than before the patch, although I have no scientific way of keeping track. Sometimes it'll crash 1 out of every 4 times I open something. Other times it feels like it's 1 in 20.
  8. Yup, hovering stones everywhere for me as well. If I had to guess I'd say it's a low-priority thing to fix.
  9. It's a tough thing for the developers to nail down, since everyone is reporting different experiences. For me it's usually related to opening or closing anything storage related, such as a chest or preserving bin.
  10. Interesting. I did that out of curiosity, along with the volumetric cloud one, and my frame rates got a big boost. Well worth the trade-off if you ask me. I'm surprised there isn't an option in the settings menu to turn those off.
  11. Does the server start up? Are you seeing the server console come up, or does it not get that far? Mine wouldn't run the first time either. I'm not sure I ever figured out the reason, but I went to the wiki page (https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_server_setup) and followed the steps and it did work after that. Assuming it's running fine, you'll have to search for the exact name (and make sure you're in the unofficial tab and check or uncheck those filtering boxes at the bottom).
  12. The minimum required card is a 1080 (or 1080ti, I can't remember). Either way, the 1660ti will struggle with ASA. You could try setting everything to low and turning the resolution scale way down, but it's not going to be pretty.
  13. I was thinking that last night too as I was outrunning an alpha carno on foot. Not sure that would've been possible in ASE without some good luck.
  14. As best I can tell whitelists of any sort are broken in ASA. There's a number that ASA uses to track players instead of their steam ID, but using that number doesn't make the whitelist work, and even if it did I'm not sure how you'd obtain that number for players who aren't already on your server.
  15. Yup, having outposts around the map is one of the things I miss about the pre-cryopod days. I'm looking forward to setting up a network again. And for the OP, taming an Argentavis isn't that hard, even if you can't get a Pteranodon.
  16. Dino spawning doesn't work right now. I suspect it's somewhere on the to-fix list.
  17. Did the author play the game? It's not working very well yet. I'm quite looking forward to seeing it once the early bugs are fixed though. The new mini-map and some of the building changes are nice additions. It does look pretty too, at least if I crank the settings up to an unplayable frame rate. Really hoping that gets fixed at some point too (hopefully in a way that doesn't lead to me buying an RTX 4090).
  18. I too think there's something wrong with spawners. I did a dino wipe on my first attempt at making a server and the map never repopulated. I had made some config changes at the same time, so I thought it had to do with that, but looking back I think it was a spawner problem.
  19. It could've been one of many things. Maybe it was a business decision that Snail regretted, or maybe in the rush to get Ark out the door nobody put much thought into it. It could also be that there was some disagreement internally about how to handle it, so they waited to see what the reaction was. In the end, all that matters to me is that somebody took the time to make it work, and the kids and I can go play Ark.
  20. It's working fine for me in North America with that app ID. I'm re-installing as we speak after I managed to break the dino spawners on my first server.
  21. Anybody get the whitelist working? I added -exclusivejoin and copied over my PlayersExclusiveJoinList.txt from an ASE setup, but it seems to ignore the text file and kicks everybody.
  22. Does anybody know if the command line arguments are the same as they were for ASE? It's been a very long time since I had to do this without the help of ASM.
  23. Sweet! Mine is working too. I'd better clear my weekend calendar.
