  1. PUTTING THE W IN TSW KING GREAT JOB WRITING THE SCOOP WHILE I AM OUT AND ABOUT TSW IN ASA SOON WHOOOOOOOOOO
    2 points
  2. "And then he turned himself into a remaster, funniest thing I've ever seen!" Heyo, ZCI5250 here! You may recognise me as one of the artists for The Sunken World. Our beloved amphibious writer ashgcy is off on vacation at the moment, so I will be your host for this edition of the Sunken Scoop! In this scoop, we will be showing off some sneaky screenshots of our delightful aquatic friends frolicking about in ASA! These were taken on our private testing branch, and some things may change with the official release! As mentioned in the previous scoop, we do not have a planned release date. However, we have gotten past the major hurdles that came with porting, so all that's left to do is playtesting and bug fixing. As long as the creatures dont come up with another escape plan, you can expect to see TSW Additions on the in-game Mods tab very soonTM! If this is your first time diving into the deep end, we are a dedicated team of individuals who are looking to spruce up the ocean biome in the same way that Scorched Earth offered a unique, biome specific challenge to survival. With new creatures, resources, structures, items and more, all set on a huge custom map, we're looking to give ARK's oceans the TLC they deserve! The main goal is to bridge that huge gap between early and late game ocean exploration, and make it much more viable and more fun to live a life beneath the waves! This is unofficial content and is only related to our mod. It is in no way related to the official game and its content releases. Let's dive into the scoop! ASA SCREENSHOTS While it isn't ready to be played just yet, we do have a couple of teasers for what to expect in the TSW Additions mod's ASA debut! From the living SCUBA tank Anomalocaris to the gentle giant Henodus, we mainly focused on porting over creatures which would be greatly beneficial to aquatic gameplay. Oh, the chunky proto-whale Ambulocetus managed to sneak its way in too, but we decided to let it stay. I mean, how could you say no to those puppy dog eyes? Anomalocaris What would TSW be without these iconic and (oddly) adorable arthropods? While feisty in the wild, tamed Anomalocaris will gladly provide survivors with oxygen while underwater... at the cost of slurping up some of your blood! Just be prepared to repair your chestpiece every now and then, their graspers are mighty strong for their size! Henodus Paddling gracefully through the billowing bogs, one can find the charismatic Henodus! These odd sauropterygians are an incredibly important tame for a life beneath the waves. When submerged, a Henodus will release air bubbles from its back, which you can build on to create an early game underwater home! Ambulocetus And last (for now) but not least, we have the Ambulocetus! Found up north in frigid waters, these peculiar mammals are a perfect exploratory mount! Not only are they able to traverse land and sea, but they can even invigorate themselves with a metabolic rush that makes them move and attack faster! You can even pet them, which is not only abso-friggin-lutely adorable, but will also give allied tames a boost in XP gain! COMMUNITY CORNER We haven't received any submissions for the community corner this week, but we're certainly keeping an eye out for anything you want to send us! In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us yourself! Send us anything from screenshots, artwork, videos and the so on, and we can feature your work in the next scoop! The submissions channel in our Discord is always open, or you can tag us @ARKSunken with #sunkenscoop on Twitter! That's all for this issue of the Sunken Scoop, thanks for tuning in! We hope you're just as excited to play with TSW on ASA as we are, and we will have more to share in the next one! Come to our discord to share in the excitement, or just to hang out! Have a wonderful timezone! If this is your first time seeing TSW, check out the links below to find out more! Please note that if you want to play our mod, you need both the map and creature mod active. 4. You dont get my point. I knew I would get such reactions. What i am saying is: ASA costs about 50 Bucks incl. all coming Maps. So on average I suggest everyone plays at least 200 Hours and Even Even more. In total. So why on earth is everyone crying about a fkn DLC?! The 50 bucks for all those hundreds hours of fun is nothing it wont hurt to Buy a cosmetic pack. I myself will do it cuz the games great

  6. THIS, THIS, THIS! Real quick, hello! First time being here and posting! Second of all, this is completely true! I have the PS5 version of the game and I've been waiting for something about them finally fixing the issues that it has. I don't care about anything else right now. I just want to play the game! Screw Scorched Earth and all of the fancy, schmancy crap to go with it! Which I (AND MANY OTHERS) can't do on console due to the save issues. It just looks like console players are getting the shaft like with Evolved. What is the point of buying a game that you can't even play? I want to stop crapping on the game and WC but at this point? I'm very tempted to get a refund. We haven't gotten so much as a peep about any fixes to console Ascended! Third of all, what the heck is the point of showing us this if a not insignificant portion of the fanbase can't even play on the normal game!? PLEASE WILDCARD! Fix the game and please don't force us to pay for this new stuff! I can understand cool looking cosmetics, but please don't hide Scorched Earth behind another paywall! PLEASE FIX THE GAME!

  8. Let’s see, what did I do? Well, I chased Ovira all over the place because she kept escaping from her gazeebo. The wanderlust is strong with that one, so I finally built a stone apron around her enclosure and put up another line of fencing, which has helped some at least. Rex hunting, for low levels to add to my kibble farm, didn’t go so well. I looked all over and finally found a level 20 female Rex . . . that was immediately eaten by raptors. When I got back to the base, I put my framed photo of me with Raptor Claus facedown on the table in protest. I also did some resource gathering to top off the storage boxes, and made some sweet veggie cakes for the snails. As far as they’re concerned, I’m a first class chef. I then decided to head over to Carnivore Island in search of a kitty to tame. Lots of low levels around, so Ewe got some battle training in, after getting the notes of course. She raised up several levels, and we finally found a level 145 kitty that was black and gray. So we grabbed her, headed over to the little safe island, and dropped her in the trap. I shot her with one tranq and then noticed movement behind and to the right of the trap. There was a Rex on the safe island, and then a raptor, and then an argent. The little safe island wasn’t feeling so safe anymore, if you know what I mean. Once the area was clear, I put another tranq in the kitty, and then another argent showed up. Sheesh! Everything was smooth sailing after that, though, and Sabene was tamed with average stats. I also found a nice bow, sniper rifle, and some ghillie upgrades from drops there. But that’s pretty much about it, hope you’re all having fun.

  9. I found a sap tap in a drop a while back, and after seeing it languishing in a storage box for the hundredth time, I decide I might as well do something about it. So I cobble together a tree platform and three more taps, and then Ewe and I head for my usual tree in the red woods. Approaching slowly, we scan the giant trunks and shadowy boughs, on the lookout for Bang!-Bang! Kitties. But the coast is clear, so we begin setting things up. And Presto! We’re in the sap business. I then decide that a supply of honey would be nice. . . Ugh! Early on in my game, I saw a bee just hanging out by a rock, but it disappeared after a while. Thinking there are probably other spots like that, I watch a video that gives various locations to check for free-range bees. So I check . . . and check . . . and check some more. Then I check in other places, and still others, but there is a dearth of bees. “Maybe I should put out an A.P.Bee,” I think. (Yah, I’ll see myself out.) Anyway, I resolve myself to having to go into the red woods for a queen bee. Another part of that video shows the person using C4 to destroy the hive, so I get to crafting all the bits and bobs that will be needed and head back to the red woods. Luckily, I find a hive only a couple of trees over from my sap station, so I set about clearing some of the brush to open up the view. While doing this, a pego (A.K.A. Butthead) decides to tame himself by stealing my mejo berries. Seconds later, a giant snake decides to eat both of us and meets a swift end. And when I turn back toward the tree, another pego jumps out of a nearby bush, scaring both me and Butthead. I think I kill him before he manages to steal anything, though. (Um, Nope!) Now, I’m finally ready to go after the hive. (Cue the Benny Hill music) After a fresh spritz of bug spray, I launch my grappling hook and begin rising toward the hive. When it’s within reach, I switch to the remote detonator and place two charges. I then hit the right mouse button to descend, but the problem is that I forget to switch back to my crossbow first. So . . . . BOOM! My ears are ringing, and I’m beginning to panic. What’s left of my armor has been blackened by the explosion, which also singed most of Butthead’s fur off. (Talk about a horrible sight!) I finally switch back to my crossbow and disconnect, falling to the forest floor. Scrambling, I make my way toward Ewe, chugging a case of medical brew along the way, with the hopes of gathering my wits. Once said wits have been gathered, I plop Butthead down and take a look at the hive. It’s still there, only a fifth damaged. I guess my broken armor pieces absorbed most of the explosion. (Swear Word!) I begin using my ascendant crossbow to whittle down the hive’s health, stopping from time to time to kill waves of angry bees. It finally falls apart, and I see the queen. I look in my pack for the flowers to move to my hot bar and realize that last (Swear Word!) pego yoinked them! The queen nonchalantly shrugs and flies off, disappearing into the forest. (Lots and Lots of Swear Words!) (So, yah. That could have gone better. . . .)

  10. I need a name for these. I know no one reads them but a name would still be nice. Welcome to the BBC Big Bob Champions This guide is on the easiest task in ark- slaying the alpha dragon. There will soon be guides on the caves, don't worry. For this, you need 1 dino. 3 would make it easier because of mate and pack boost, but 1 works fine. you also need wyvern milk (very annoying I'm sorry.) The dino, is just a deinonychus. no fancy saddle. in terms of stats you just need 10,000 health (way lower works, but safety is nice) and 1500 melee. you can get away with 3k for health, but you would need a good bit of practice. You want to take your deinonychus and just start running. be very careful to watch your stamina. jump whenever the dragon sends a fireball. when she sends her minions, try to kill as many as you can. after this she should land. drink your wyvern milk (dein and player) and attack on back foot. the dien is small enough to not get hurt. DO NOT JUMP WHEN THE DRAGON IS LANDED! this will activate the deins pounce, latching to the beast. this drains tons of stamina and allows you to be hit. repeat this section until the dragon is dead. Now, the reason this works. You may have noticed where your dein was attacking the numbers were low, but in the middle of the dragon, the numbers were in the thousands. this is because the dein inlicts a bleed effect, much like that of the giga, allo and thyla, except this one works on bosses. for those unaware, bleeding effects do damage based on the creatures maximum health. the deinonychus does 0.3% of a creatures health in damage over 7 seconds. nothing special right? Except this bleed also stacks up to 5 times. with each bleed starting and ending slightly later than the previous one. assuming you have 5 bleeds going at once, you would be doing 1.5% of the creatures health over 7 seconds. this still doesn't seem like much, so let's add some more math. trauma. school. burning. vietnam. run. RUN. Helena? I'm afraid. every second the deinonychus does 0.2% max health per second. still not enough? that's 1944 dps for the alpha dragon. a therizinosaur(the dino most people use for this fight) does 52 base damage. theris attack 1.2 times per second. this means they have a base dps of 62.4. if we give it the same melee as our dein (1500%) it does 780 per hit, or 936 dps. but we can be like most parents, wait for the theri to find someone then punish it, give it an unlocked window, have it sneak out, and only support the child if it's what we want. of course the dein doesn't need protection. he just dives in between the legs and starts chomping. of course I mean the dragons legs and the protection is the deins saddle. get your mind out of the gutter

  11. Here a video in a bit "safer" way with top tier saddle and higher HP (just in case), made in official PVE during the glorious days of 892 by a friend... and before devs screwed the audio mix of dragon boss (before fjordur release)
