  1. Hey Survivors, We’ve got some exciting news we’d like to share with you! As of today, we will be transitioning the ARK’s harvesting, EXP, and taming rates to 2x permanently. This is a decision we’ve made after experimenting with the game’s rates for quite some time. You may have noticed in the last few weeks the Evolution Events have gotten longer, this has allowed us to get a better feel for how it would play out in a permanent live experience. We have consistently received a lot of feedback from you, and it was very evident that players preferred the increased rates. Thusly, the rates will stay at 2x permanently from now onwards on our Official Servers. Evo Event Weekends will consequently be increased to 3x rates. Furthermore, in the next major version releases, the 2x rates will be implemented directly in the game build itself. This means that Non-Dedicated Servers, Single Player Sessions and of course Unofficial Servers will also feel the increased rates. Therefore, if you’re currently using customized rates, it’s something you will want to keep in mind before this change is in place -- specifically upon the release of the next Major Version on each of your respective platforms, you may wish to reduce your server/game rates by 50% to have the same effective values as before. We appreciate all the response you guys have provided to us regarding our Evolution Events and are looking forward to running more exploring new features with you in the upcoming future.   3. Frankly I'm fine with 2x taming for some Dino's but more of the Dino's should have different taming mechanics than just shoot narc arrows and wait.

  4. The above paragraph is really two topics, 2X XP and taming, but I'll just discuss the XP and leveling. Any game is hard to "balance" for all the different modes of play. For instance it is pretty irrelevant how fast anyone levels when you are playing PVE. Certainly you want a challenge, but how fast you level is just one of hundreds of things that make the game challenging. Now for PVP, if you are trying to reduce the speed that members of an Alpha tribe level, you pretty much can't win that game without make the single player experience hell. The alpha tribe has all kinds of "tricks" at their disposal that they use to level players. Can't say I know them all, but like said here, in 12 hours, the alpha tribe player might level up as much as 4x what a solo player can achieve. So really 1X or 2X, it doesn't really affect them, it only punishes the solo player. I've used a few of these tricks myself. All I need is to join a tribe of even 1 player that has all the standard dinos. I can then use them to gather the resources needed to make all the items that give the most XP and level to 50 in a few days. If they have storage bins already filled with the resources and don't mind me using them all up, I can level even quicker. This was on an unofficial that I did this, I think with 4X for the XP rate, but doesn't really matter the rate, with the right techniques that are really only available in a tribe (the bigger the better), you can level much quicker.

  5. Just increase weight in your new dinos rather than melee damage.. problem solved I wish the Mind Wipe tonic worked on my dinos.. I could reshuffle the stats to suit new harvesting rates of the server.

  6. More people play on the 2x weekends, especially on Scorched Earth, where you are barely surviving at the 1x rates (if you are a low level). Instead of just saying it will kill ARK, like this is a given, why not say why you think this is bad. I think the majority of us think it is a given that this will make ARK more popular, not less. But possibly you want less people paying ARK?
