Suggestion

Common Name: Gorgonops

Species: Gorgonops secutor

Time: Late Permian

Diet: Carnivore

Temperament: Aggressive

Wild

“Gorgnops secutor has the most developed sense of smell I’ve witnessed among the local wildlife. It’s a hunter in every sense of the word: once it memorizes the scent of its next prey, it will seek it out anywhere, no matter how far it runs. Gorgonops prefers to take its time to bring down its target, since it’s no fast runner. Its unqiue way of storing charge light allows it fend off the many dangerous creatures that could potentially threaten its life.

Furthermore, its sturdy physique allows it to resist venom and toxins that would knock out or even kill any other creature of the same size. That means Gorgonops doesn’t have to worry about snake bites, bug stings, poison gas and such! Good thing it’s not so ravenous to devour anything it smells!”

Domesticated

“I’ve met some ingenious survivors who specialized in training their Gorgonops as bloodhounds. This beast’s smelling is so masterly, it can be taught to recognize the scent of just about anything. Wild herbivores, tamed creatures, enemy survivors, you name it! It can even learn to detect hidden traps or treasures! Its unique method of charge light can make traversing the many dangerous caverns and raditaion easier.

Moreover, tracking creatures such as Parasaurus are able to detect threats from greater distances, with a tamed Gorgonops’ help. But that’s not all: thanks to its durability, survivors can use Gorgonops to carry knocked out creatures on a special transport sledge.”

Introduction:

Greetings, survivors! I introduce to you the stalker of scent; the Gorgonops!

The foundational ideas and selling points for this therapsid include:

  • Role as a tracker and taming assistant

  • Taming method involving kidnapping

  • Ability to find max-level creatures

  • Immunity to torpor and toxins

  • Enhances the tracking abilities of other creatures

  • Can drag unconscious creatures to safer locations for taming

  • Is a moving Mountable Charge Light Pet due to the Charge Light stored in its fur.

The Gorgonops has repeatedly appeared in votes and makes it to the Top 10 consistently, but hasn’t made it through. As one of ARK’s scrapped creatures and one of the few from the mainstream to have not made it into the game, this concept for Aberration will give it time to shine.

Wild:

Gorgonops most often patrol the Blue and Red zones of Aberration, though they may occasionally appear in the Green Zone as well. Their incredible sense of smell allows them to detect creatures in a wide range around them. Not being very fast, they tend to go after specifically slower prey, which includes survivors. They’re patient, and will track down their targets until an opportunity presents itself. In the Blue and Red Zones, they guard something valuable.

Taming Process:

G. In these dens, they will store food and raise their pups isolated from the outside world. Survivors can enter these dens and kidnap the pups for themselves. However, parents have increased aggression towards anything within the vicinity of their dens, gaining a parental buff. The owners of the den will need to be dealt with in whatever way a survivor desires, and ensure that they can collect the pups in relative safety. From there, survivors will need to tend to the young beast’s needs until they are satisfied and reach adulthood.

Tamed:

Congratulations! You’ve successfully tamed a Gorgonops! With such a fierce predator and expert tracker in your hands, its utility will be immeasurable.

Actions:

  • Primary Attack (QVJC7E6_hg1jYTDcNfQpVQ5mlp-90MLTvRQ7oMekyxZsj-ayMoROkvbRt1SWf6Rg090u_WYPOXr2Bg0juT7eZNBleYrvtsdXcjUMk211A5yuvkP7J4S45HBXUEdwk_LB0pgKacaFuDdZSqzJBJU9cEM, s9P5AkAUlgFHFtMzEUqH1kUSZ4waD49QBzg-Vxtw6BYADbP86JxY38RaV_5WMPrPrd1NJLTlXKjWz_K-nxfzLy9c7DsNiR06jynk7O2bNsixYAlkViIX8C6jGl74CWNd6pl7F8vkEInZgsRiuLckxNk, J061QPtdatn6H5jE6U2Z3gx4URmqiTEvXfvnscF01JdzlvNw6KuAWoSoBPTdbtRe5Gd_FOCiTUy2id2VUijNR4jYNSL2MvpSFeeakq-gnjrsmq-8bajPupvAtl1KRhfsLuiRRGSbQtR1x_Fm7TvT-Js): A basic bite attack. This ignores armor.

  • Secondary Attack (QVJC7E6_hg1jYTDcNfQpVQ5mlp-90MLTvRQ7oMekyxZsj-ayMoROkvbRt1SWf6Rg090u_WYPOXr2Bg0juT7eZNBleYrvtsdXcjUMk211A5yuvkP7J4S45HBXUEdwk_LB0pgKacaFuDdZSqzJBJU9cEM, s9P5AkAUlgFHFtMzEUqH1kUSZ4waD49QBzg-Vxtw6BYADbP86JxY38RaV_5WMPrPrd1NJLTlXKjWz_K-nxfzLy9c7DsNiR06jynk7O2bNsixYAlkViIX8C6jGl74CWNd6pl7F8vkEInZgsRiuLckxNk, J061QPtdatn6H5jE6U2Z3gx4URmqiTEvXfvnscF01JdzlvNw6KuAWoSoBPTdbtRe5Gd_FOCiTUy2id2VUijNR4jYNSL2MvpSFeeakq-gnjrsmq-8bajPupvAtl1KRhfsLuiRRGSbQtR1x_Fm7TvT-Js): The Gorgonops raises its nose to the air and takes in a scent. A reticle will appear, allowing for aim. Creatures sniffed out by a Gorgonops will be permanently tracked until they sniff out a different target. The current target will have their level and stats revealed like HLNA. Learning the scent of a specific animal will allow the Gorgonops to passively identify others of that species in the future. They can also identify the smells of objects like traps and explorer notes.

  • Roar (Click C, wCfFOzobQsuCLttMowER2wAcvfveatmCS7uJAyIQqilMQKJYwz7tj3r04dQYD_f4wqSicaGc8_QkE7rl0XOHtMxg-nsV68qo5svH8sI3z8C91OoIv3VqzW4O4Ve3iAAIDg7r5wht0k_a3TtbJluM70E, 0BRJwfmD2xo5gHmmQmBRCg6ks6sN-VqXnUNk13k4DmzKoUl5iBHobsJqF4lDh6yHKfsDK8bcBYt9v_BWQQaaFKO9XdgFSkZASlWaxekuAGw3K3qs9CyXkZ7X__6evIoYJUh-q10RFmPK65wEfZUg9fI): A strictly cosmetic roar.

  • Jump (Press Space, XO7yiFzqMksPsfZim-Wq2ZBGeR-m4rDKL-siQKQCffoLAGNMxJ-hc7w6zNbwcYkSkHcA4EzwPG8k6LmDAZq-6lJffBO4cKhjN4wUHz0FKW7lFmMIx7rR1g79Xyefegm3RG_u8qjV9z2UJD6g5V7V-e8, H4I3CjlYB7bTgOAJjUVlH1MpIoH-agfHpSNwh3VtdeKltUVfMfWEnaXQczLB32QSQ4lI7nTr6m8y54ewrcNC2EzvskgzMXR2KwCs_wmn-lJ6IO7PDqvDUj1fQLAxG92MJTB7ff77oyuXbxgCT7sGulM): A basic jump. Cannot jump with the Gorgonops Sled Saddle.

Passive Abilities:

  • Autoalert: Like a Parasaur, the Gorgonops can detect specific threats. Because of its sense of smell, it can better pinpoint specific species. However, it needs to have been exposed to the scent before in order to properly warn their masters.

  • Immunities: Gorgonops are immune to the effects of torpor, poisons, and radiation.

  • Gorgonops Den: In their inventory, survivors can craft a den like those found in the wild. This structure can house anything up to the size of an adult Gorgonops and can store food like a trough. Babies will be able to eat from the stored reserves, and will grow at a faster rate while in the den. There is also notable insulation.

  • Treasure Hunting: When idle, Gorgonops have a chance to uncover rare resources, equipment, blueprints that are added to their inventory. The quality of unearthed gear is entirely random.

  • Tracking Buff: Nearby creatures with similar tracking ability such as Parasaurs, Troodons, and Direwolves have their own detection range increased in the presence of a Gorgonops.

  • Sled Saddle: The Gorgonops has a standard Gorgonops Saddle. A more advanced Gorgonops Sled Saddle can be constructed as well. Unconscious creatures can be placed onto the sled and transferred to a different location. Multiple Gorgonops may be required to drag larger creatures. Two for a Rex, three for a Bronto, etc. Having this saddle equipped prevents jumping.

  • Charge Light: Like its smaller bretheren, Gorgonops has charge light that it stores in the fure along its body. This build up of light allows it to fend of creatures like the Nameless and Reapers. This can be drained and recharged like the normal charge pets

8gvfiVXgYl_VBrVMcJJsbFTmQTc9Z6VTJKrgKN3lJOc1SCCOOym8l3aVm3f7WdxOAPoZmpvcPLwmx-DC66SchqnhkibbFMLj3y4VE01ArdkhWDZ_4biWAswkaSWAFQsGnFANSePvp_UVYmmUukrCL_4

  • Parental Buff (Wild Only): In the presence of their own pups, wild Gorgonops receive a buff that increases damage output and damage resistance. Pups raised by survivors don’t develop this behavior.

Utility & Scenarios:

PvE: Gorgonops provide lots of use when it comes to taming creatures. Their scent being able to identify the levels and stats of creatures makes finding worthy tames far easier. Bringing unconscious creatures to safety as they tame is also incredibly helpful. If you need to return to a particular creature later since you don’t have the resources, you can leave the creature marked and come back once you’re ready. The Gorgonops Den is great for raising babies with the growth buff and food reserves. The den can also act as a temporary base when on the go. Digging up valuable treasure is certainly valuable in itself. Gorgonops may see use in swamps and other areas with lots of venomous insects and beasts.

PvP: Gorgonops make for great base defenders. Their autoalert defining specific species is paired well with Parasaurs who identify particular groups of enemies, now at an increased range. In the midst of a fight, their fangs come into good use when ignoring armor of all kinds, allowing them to deal high damage to normally beefy targets. If a target is sent on the run, the Gorgonops can pick up on their scent and hunt them down until they’re caught. Sniffing out traps can ease raiding by helping raid parties avoid disaster. The main thing to note is that the Gorgonops isn’t a great fighter. It operates more as an ambushing assassin that ganks when opportunities present themselves. Directly involving themselves in battle leaves them vulnerable to creatures who fill those bruising roles better.

Conclusion:

If there is any creature that truly deserves to join the roster of ARK, it is the Gorgonops. Countless entries in previous submissions with a wide variety of ideas show that this creature can work! In the last map of the original ARK storyline, bringing back a scrapped creature, and a popular one at that, would close things off on a great note before the transition into Genesis.

Have fun, survivors! Go Gorgon or Go Home!

I'd say the gorgo doesn't really fit aberration very well, and would be outshined by other travel mounts like the roll rat or especially the ravager. The other suggestions are totally unique in the way that they are different from other creatures in the game. It would probably fit valguero or extinction better

I love the concept you've created for the Gorgonops, it's definitely the best one I've seen, and I hope that it will eventually win but I think it could use some additions/enhancements to make it fit the theme of Aberration a bit better if you want it to have a better chance of winning in this specific creature vote.

Firstly, a lot of the old returning creature vote contestants have updated their initial concepts to fit the theme of aberrations, and while you have already made some notable changes, I believe a bolder approach will help to stand out among the competition.

One way of doing this could be to give it some elements from The Predator (the one from the "Predator" and "Alien vs Predator" movies) and make it into a creature that rivals the reaper in a somewhat similar vein to how a cobra and a mongoose are natural enemies.

A lot of the abilities you've laid out fits the Predator theme perfectly such as tracking and dragging of victims. Some potential additions that could help it fit this theme and the Aberration theme a bit more would be:

- Thermal vision (same as the snow owl)

-A cloaking ability (Like the rock drake and shadowmane)

-A Light ability that can weaken nameless and reapers

-A weakness to the reaper's acid attacks to make things a bit more balanced

-A climbing ability to help it traverse better in Ab

- A visual update that adds:

       - mandibles

       - dread-like hair growths similar to that of The Predator (could potentially be the source of the light ability)

- Change the species name from Gorgonops Secutor to Gorgonops Ventor (The reasoning behind this is while the Secutor name fits well if the Gorgonops lived in Scorched or Rag as it much more like a gladiator in those maps, Venator (meaning hunter in Latin), helps to accentuate the Predator inspiration and already fits with the hunting nature of the creature.

I understand that this is a lot and could really oversaturate the creature with too many abilities but given how many abilities and features were given to the Rhyniognatha I don't think the devs would be to be opposed to giving it a large number of abilities, especially ones that they've already created, as longs as it isn't too crazy and doesn't make already existing creature completely obsolete.

I will also admit that some of the changes I've suggested could end up radically changing your initial concept so please just ignore them if you don't like them, but at the same time feel free to take any and all of them if you like.

In conclusion, I don't think I have to tell you that the Gorgonops should have been added a long time ago and the devs should just add it in at this point like how they did with the Carco. The concepts and artwork you've created for this creature truly does it justice and I hope that sometime soon it will either win the vote or the developers will choose to add it on their own. Regardless, this creature will always have my vote.

GO GORGO OR GO HOME!

Dude please. This creature. Stop. We get it. We want gorgonopsid. But do not shove it into the votes for maps that it clearly has no business being in. There are literally so many better options for creatures that will all come before this creature and unless WC pulls their head out of the wormhole it's in we'll probably be sitting on this creature for ages.

Please take a look at my concept and share your opinion about it.
I made it for another creature, but you can use it as an alternative concept for Gorgonops.

A DISEASED CREATURE WITH NEW TRACKING AND FINISHING ABILITIES - INOSTRANCEVIA (GORGONOPS)

Hello Survivor

I want to introduce you to the concept of the creature Inostrancevia or Ino, a medium-sized predator in ARK with new abilities for the Aberration map. Some of these mechanics were already presented in the concept for the Lost Island map. Idk who the original creator is. I slightly modified these mechanics, although the overall conception remained the same.

Inostrancevia is an extinct creature from the Gorgonopsian clade, similar in appearance to the Gorgonops, which players have already presented in other creatures' votings before. Also, I used some mechanics of the Gorgonops provided by the user "Scanova" and others, such as creature tracking, and modified them according to my vision. Inostrancevia tracks creatures and players not by scent but by the bloody trails left by injured units.

DOSSIER

Species: Inostrancevia morbificae
Time: Late Permian
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Aggressive or neutral-territorial

Wild
Inostrancevia morbificae can be considered one of the best hunters in the Ark, as they are skilled at tracking and killing their prey, dividing hunting grounds among themselves. These creatures prove their advantage through hunting, and only the most skillful hunter becomes the leader among other individuals of the same species.

If the beast attacks you, it inflicts deep wounds with its sharp claws, and the bacteria in its jaws cause a severe illness. However, in the case of the latter factor, Inostrancevia has developed symbiosis to such an extent that these creatures identify each other solely by the presence of contact with these microbes.

Like the creature, the player is susceptible to the effects of the disease. However, it is possible to recover from it over time. But with a particular treatment method, the player can redirect the pathogen, activating its beneficial properties.

Domesticated
While under the influence of the distorted disease, the survivor emits a pleasant scent that aids in identification among tamed Inostrancevias. These creatures go wild upon inhaling it, and similar to pheromones, it compels them to care more about the survivor and even protect them.

ABILITIES

Description

The primary ability - the creature infects players with a specific disease that, when properly treated, can enhance the characters and creature itself.

Active Abilities

Simple Bite
image.png.c9ebfc622f0830fe270ee428ddc82cb8.pngimage.png.355448e891c305b0aa57b60162a37b9f.pngimage.png.a61bd8db54142598b65da837a4d2ad48.pngimage.png.7002e2bf53e088944cb73e9fae750f9f.pngPress the button
In bite attack, Inostrancevia deals moderate damage and ignores the creature`s armor. Perhaps it cannot ignore the armor of creatures like the Rock Golem or Reaper. However, it can kill Nameless without using light sources. Or not, idk.

Paw Strike
image.png.785177dc4ff3ea9b1bfa6e6175e86c2c.pngimage.png.844ce2b5171d40b7c59b44e56ea44b7e.pngimage.png.25e6d113df7b6b1eec7b09f378546540.pngimage.png.18d4c88b39389291057b430296fe7381.pngPress the button
A claw attack that causes bleeding to assist in tracking creatures or players. If you attack, enemy units will leave behind a bloody trail that helps you track them. When the health of creatures or characters is below 20%, the bloody trail becomes more visible, making tracking easier.

Infectious Bite
image.png.8ca940e1e1ad2eccd7d56908a429dc02.pngimage.png.abefb0066f6cc11b5a9f664dcacb2110.pngimage.png.031e60a3be3d4ad1109fa8516676d573.pngimage.png.c8eb6b52602864ec78b0a79ee9aa30b0.pngPress the button
To inflict damage, you need to charge the attack. It applies a new debuff to characters.

The new disease is Cave Fever / Redwood Fever. Another name is Inostrancevia's Bite.

While the character is sick, their attributes, appearance, and interface will change over time. The disease cannot be transmitted through the air, and while the character is ill, he cannot be infected by another sickness.

It is caused by wild or tamed Inostrancevia.

There are four stages of infection:

First stage
After 3 hours.

The following  attributes will be reduced:

Health by 15%,
and Stamina by 5%.

Second stage
After 6 hours of infection.

The following attributes will be reduced:

Health by 30%,
and Stamina by 10%.

Third stage
After 9 hours of infection.

The following attributes will be reduced:

Health by 45%,
Stamina by
15%,
and Melee Damage by 10%.

Fourth stage
After 12 hours of infection.

The following attributes will be reduced:

Health by 80%,
Stamina by
30%,
and Melee Damage by
20%.

Upon recovery, the character will receive a new buff at any stage of the disease. It can be cured using the "Lesser Antidote" or a new kind of medicine, for which you will need a new trophy - Inostrancevia Fang, to craft it.

Roar

The roar, when used, makes nearby enemy Purlovias emerge from underground. (The creature also has several passive abilities related to Purlovia)

Jump
image.png.95079c9084db81d8a32e9d79a298d77e.pngimage.png.d1b29fbef5665bae58de24dba8fdb861.pngimage.png.c2240500df57b83b2e08bd0012ba39d0.pngimage.png.20fc14effe9d1e82d78b244628bcd795.pngPress the button
Jumps forward. Unlike the Purlovia, it's a poor jumper.

Run

image.png.4b6e7597636120e48452f19c763d4fbd.pngimage.png.bf69ba638b4df8f732dbeabbbcf45607.pngimage.png.ff19dbe4b1de92a8ee57d485f29a6c19.pngimage.png.407f8d4fe2d924ff8d9a98c8b123e00b.pngLong Press
Inostrancevia can run for unlimited without using stamina but is slower than most similar-sized creatures.
If you give this creature unlimited sprint, you need to remove the jump.

Passive Abilities

Inostrancevia takes 25% more damage from fire and fiery projectiles.

The hostile Purlovia runs away after seeing Inostrancevia. Also, buried Purlovias will not stun you if you are riding on this creature.

When the health of creatures and players is below 20%, the creature attacks deal 50% more damage. This allows you to finish off animals and players faster, and the final blow to a creature/character, before it dies, will have a unique finishing animation.

Also, while the health of enemy units is critically low, they will be highlighted to the player riding the Inostrancevia with a special marker or glow, making it much easier to track them.

New positive buff "Cured" for the character

If the character recovers from the illness, it will receive a new buff. Depending on the stage of the disease at which cured, this buff will have different advantages.

If the character is cured at the first stage of the disease, it will receive an increase in the following attributes:
Health and health regeneration by 5%.

If the character is cured at the second stage of the disease, it will receive an increase in the following attributes:
Health and health regeneration by 10%.

If the character is cured at the third stage of the disease, it will receive an increase in the following attributes:
Health and health regeneration by 15%,
Stamina and Melee Damage by 5%.

If the character is cured at the final stage of the disease, it will receive an increase in the following attributes:
Health and health regeneration by 30%,
Stamina and Melee Damage by 10%.

In addition to increasing attributes, this buff grants you the infinite effect of "Lesser Antidote."

New positive buff "Among relatives" for the creature

If a character with the buff "Cured" approach a friendly Inostrancevia, the creature will receive a buff, which increases the value of the following attributes: Melee Damage by 25% and Damage Resistance by 20%.

Collectibles

Raw Prime Meat *****
Hide *****
Keratin ****
Raw Meat ****
Chitin ***
and others organic resources and consumables.

ABERRATION

This section of the concept describes how this creature behaves on this map, what abilities it has that are specific to this map, and other details.

Passive Abilities

If the Reaper Queen is nearby and ready to impregnate characters, the tamed Inostrancevia will alert you by emitting a warning roar.

Add the following abilities for the "Cured" buff:

The Reaper Queen will consider you a more potential target for impregnation while you are under the effect of the "Cured" buff. And, if the player carries an embryo while under the buff, the future Reaper will also receive this buff, making it stronger and immune to radiation during pregnancy.

Immunity to fungal spores or radiation. In the case of radiation, I would grant immunity that removes the blurring effect and extend the death process.

Also, provide players with radiation antidote that could temporarily give total protection. This could be a new kind of medicine required to treat the illness caused by this creature.

TAMING

Before taming, the character must be under the effect of the "Cured" buff. To obtain this buff, the character must become infected with the "Cave Fever/ Redwood Fever" disease and effectively cure it. The character can become infected after a wild Inostrancevia attacks you with its "Infectious Bite" attack if its health drops to 20%. Alternatively, ask a tamed Inostrancevia to infect you or your tribe member using the option in the creature's menu.

Inostrancevia changes its temperament from aggressive to neutral-territorial, and instead of directly attacking the player, it keeps them at a distance. When the player approaches the creature, it emits a warning roar, and if ignored and gets even closer, the beast attacks the character.

To initiate taming player must hunt and acquire one large or medium-sized creature and show the creature's body to the wild Inostrancevia (required prey size varies depending on the level of the wild Inostrancevia). After the Inostrancevia assesses your prey, and if satisfied with its size, it will request an invitation to join your pack.

The player must lead a pack of one or several Inostrancevias to hunt down large prey. Similar to missions in the Genesis maps, players track animals by their bloody trails.

If you or your followers efficiently and quickly kill creatures without using tamed dinosaurs during the hunt, Inostrancevia gains percentages and taming effectiveness faster.

The females Inostrancevias are larger and stronger than males, which makes their taming process more challenging.

Also, your subordinates will regularly test you by challenging you to a hunting duel, where you must compete with a wild Inostrancevia in hunting creatures. A mini-game is activated, in which you and the wild Inostrancevia must hunt a certain number of preys within a short period, and the winner will be the one who tracks and hunt down more creatures.

Remember, the final taming method may change depending on how WildCard interprets it.

CONCEPT QUESTIONS

Why didn't I use Gorgonops' abilities, such as "scent detection of creatures and players" and "ability to stealth while crouched"?

Because, in my understanding, those abilities are relevant for mammalian predators, similar to modern canids or felids. However, in this case, we are talking about a creature that lived approximately 260 million years ago and has no modern analogs closely resembling it.

Perhaps reasonable to give the "sneak" ability to some cat-like creatures, such as the Sabertooth or Miracinonyx. However, in the case of the Mira, it would be inappropriate as its main feature is speed, not the ability to sneak.

Can the "Cured" buff increase the value of other characteristics or have other abilities?

YES!

My task is to present the main conception of this creature, however, some aspects of it may change over time. If you have any ideas or suggestions regarding this buff, I will carefully listen to them in the comments below this post.
