Nothosaurus of the sauropsid family, living in the Triassic era. Also called by the survivors as ¨false lizard. This creature lived mainly on the shores of the beaches but in the same way it is usually found in the ocean in not so deep areas, measuring up to 3 meters long and weighing 160 kilos.

Despite having webbed feet to be able to walk on the shores of the beaches, it had a very clumsy way to walk on land, the sea being its best way of moving from one point to another. It is usually in colonies of 3-5 individuals.

It usually has a passive character but if it manages to attack it or it approaches it running it will not hesitate in any second to attack.

The sharp teeth that were located in its mouth were perfect for hunting fish and marine crustaceans, being the coelacanth and manta rays their main sources of food in the sea and small animals such as compis or dodos on land. In the same way, a bite from this creature could easily cause severe bleeding in its victim and with a bite that any small animal could break the bones without any difficulty.

This animal is an excellent means of aquatic transport and nothing complicated to tame, it will depend mainly on where you try to tame it since it will depend on the area you try to tame it. If you tame it in the water by approaching a dead fish without getting caught, the nothosaurus will approach the dead fish and the level of domestication will go up. The same will happen on the mainland but despite this you should offer him a small dino like a compy or a dodo.

This animal can be ridden without a mount, but if you want to get its true potential out of it, you should mount it. Since its frame will work as a portable refrigerator preventing all food.

His mount is unlocked at level 50 by making it in the smithy costing 30 metal ingots, 50 leather. 100 fiber and 20 straw.

Hello Survivor !

We are happy to present the Nothosaurus, a giant amphibious lizard !

Behavior : This is a large marine lizard, which regularly comes out of the water to bask on hot rocky beaches. This creature is found in shallow waters. He tends to be quickly aggressive, however he remains vulnerable during his naps.

Apparence : Smaller than a plesiosaur, the Nothosaurus is relatively slender, which gives it incredible agility in water. Its front legs are equipped with claws allowing it to adhere to rockeries, as long as its hind legs equipped with large muscles allow it to jump out of the water.

Taming : When he basks in the sun, it's time to approach discreetly to ride him by giving its fish. He will then rush into the water and a marine rodeo begins. It will be necessary to give its a fish to calm him during its spins at the risk of being unseated and at its mercy.

Utility : The Nothosaurus is a pretty good and fast swimmer. Regarding the fight, it can both use its powerful jaw to shred flesh and its tail to inflict great damage. It is also able to perform torpedo attacks thus increasing its speed. The Nohtosaurus also has a gloatrum in which it will store fish liver oil, which can be recovered to make a fishing elixir. The latter then increases the quality of the loots caught. It can also preserve fish meat longer.

Dossier :

Wild

The Nothosaurus Giganteus is an amphibious creature, a bloodthirsty killer that can move both in water and on land. The anguish of strolling by the sea and seeing this behemoth emerge out of the water and bite off its poor victim. The only opportunities we had to observe the Nothosaurus were when it was lying on the edge of the ocean to rest. Their lifestyle is very close to the Seals. It is without counting on these teeth as sharp as razor blades. To see it so skilfully hunting fish is an incredible sight, but rare are the still living witnesses of this aquatic broom.

Domesticated

For the more courageous, taming a Nothosaurus Giganteus is an excellent asset for its tribe, despite moving slowly on land, it displays all its agility once in the water. Discovering the seabed on the back of Nothosaurus is an unforgettable moment, thanks to its incredible ease under water. Although he is a faithful ally, he is above all a fast and effective murderer, especially for the fish he will kill until his thirst for flesh is satisfied. A very ingenious device is located at the level of its neck, a kind of pocket which stores and preserves the fish longer then transforms them into a kind of oil very popular with fishing enthusiasts, I have even seen some taken enormously after being in contact with this oil...

The creature was released with Les Mésaventuriers team.
Special thanks to Umbra_Daiwrfol for the illustrations!

This is amazing it looks so official i think i might have to get your help on making some dosseirs for me. Good Job!

Regardless of what ends up being the chosen function of it, I'd be happy to see more aquatic/semi-aquatic life and this creature seems like it could fill a niche if implemented with the right functions.

I am not sure how I feel about the fertilized egg stuff, but I love the creature overall and would love to see another land/water reptile in game. If you want this creature I think voting for the post regardless of which specific iteration you like is a good idea so it can be seen, as who knows what Wildcard would pick & choose.

I love the idea of an aquatic/land mix that can tie the 2 a bit better together.

Maybe we could steal some ideas I had for my suggestion, such as:

Akin to it launching itself out of water when swimming at high speeds as a means of quickly getting onto land, or even invading a boat, when the Nothosaurus is in a sprint mode running on land and hits the water its webbed feet allow it to keep sprinting on top of the water for a distance, before lowering down to a swim. (This should get rid of the jittery speed change that occurs at the water/land intersection).

Might not be fast enough for the water running ability, but worth a mention. Would really make for a scary mount when people try finding refuge in/across the water, or using this for evading others on large predators.

This is a great idea and should be included if the Nothosaurus wins

i have two idea for the Nothosaurus that can upgrade him in the PVP aspect:

-First, he can have a skin that make him immune to electricity (so he will not be stun by creature that use electricity, like: cnidaria, electrophorus, moeder and moeder minion, and even shadowmane, he will also not take damage from lightning attack, such as: the lightning wyvern breath and the desert titan thunder attack)

-Secondly, he can , like has say Bulbord87, deal more damage to fish type creature like : megalodon, manta, coelacanth, salmon, dunkleosteus..., but can deal also more damage to shadowmane, since their are a mix between a fish and a lion ( it's say in his spawn command "lionfishlion").

with those particularity, he can be a major counter for the shadowmane, like the carcha is for the giga, and he could be really funny that the probably two last creature were counter to the most OP creature.

I would like to build on the traveling companion concept- not in utility or anything of that sort but the animations for this guy should make it seem like he's genuinely upbeat. Nothing over the top but maybe some idle animations that seem like he's having a good day. Having someone / something around that's in a good mood when you're taking care of otherwise boring / dangerous tasks can be pretty uplifting. Maybe something like like Sinomacrops or Gacha where its jaw gives it the illusion of a slight smile.

You could also give it an idle where it has a chance to tap its front feet a few times whilst glancing around-  something akin to idly kicking its feet while it hangs out. A sleeping animation would be nice when they bask along with the sound of a soft snore- this being tied into taming or whenever you tell it to rest as to restore HP. They're small things, but ARK can be downright brutal at times and it would be nice to have a dude that seems like he's happy to be around you when you're enduring the challenges of the environment all the time.

Kind of like he has happy tappy feet. I love that.
