Ohma
Hey forums, new guy here playing through singleplayer with about 200hrs in. Just wondering how powerful are super high level alphas? And im talking level 100+. I can take on 70 below alpha raptors with no problems with my Thyla, but im wondering if their levels multiplies their stats by a whole lot. Hoping for the insight! Ladywombatkombat
Depends on what dino... I wouldnt recommend an alpha rex solo, I was able to take on an alpha carno with a mediocre rex. Be careful as once committed it is really hard to get away from an alpha without a flier. As for levels... over 100 can get difficult depends on your stats. Do you think its doable if im taking out 70 A.Raptors with little problems?
Ladywombatkombat
The raptor should be doable, the carno... that's iffy. As they have a substantial increase of life than raptors... they might out fight you and you could run out of stamina... be cautious, if anything bring multiple dinos to help
Castlerock
Also dont fight the alphas when they are near each other. Alone is no problem but if there are 2 or more they can give each other the alpha buff, increasing the damage they do and reducing damage taken. I’d tame yourself a Rex since rexes can bounce Carnos easy and never get hit, but I don’t know what level you are so I don’t even know if you have access to the saddle. Larger creatures with good knock back are great against alpha Carnos & raptors. If all else fails just lure the alphas to some water and try to drown them, that’s a classic ark beginners strategy. Thanks for the replies guys, I wasn't able to reply since I couldn't post anymore for the day. Also the buff from Alphas are unknown to me so thank you letting me know. As for the Rex, i tamed my first one yesterday so I think of using more of him!
ehuhoser
Also depends on saddle and how good it is. A really good saddle plus imprinting and perhaps a bit of luck.
Jaybirds
Alphas will constantly kill things and not be able to dispose of the body. This causes them to stand in one spot constantly trying to eat the corpse. If you have a high damage LN and some ammo, you can post up at a safe distance and drain some of his health. Then swoop in for the kill.
