Vindict1v3Death
Breeding mutations I’m newer to Ark and I was breeding some pteranodon and got my first mutation and was wondering what the color mutation is and is there a way to see what mutation it is? I’m on PS4.
Alex0707
If you know the parents base stats and compare with the child’s base stats you can see what stat the mutation went but if your new then you probably didn’t see the base parent stats. Also you can go there by looking at the child’s inventory and go to show ansesters
TheDonn
Compare stats and colors of both parents, the pre-leveling stats to be exact. If you didn't record the pre-leveling stats and have since leveled up the parents, it will be a little harder to do but you can still find out what stat mutated. About the color, that's just looking at the parents and finding the color that stands out as different. If all colors of the baby can be found on the parents, then you have a "wasted" color mutation. If you are on official, flyers don't waste points in speed anymore so it will be easier to see what kind of stat mutated. All this is true because a mutation adds +2 wild levels to a random stat, mutates a color region at random, and ticks up the mutation counter. Every time. SnowboundGem
Lots of Dino's don't use all colour regions sometimes the mutation rolls into a region they don't have. The ark wiki has every animal plus the colour region's they have. https://ark.gamepedia.com/Pteranodon
Vindict1v3Death
Thanks. The stats I won’t be able to figure out due to adding some in one of them. The color mutation must be the golden color since one parent is white and the other a tanish color. Is that correct? And do the offspring have the parents color if it is not mutated? SnowboundGem
The colours will always resemble either or a mix of the parents if not mutated. So from what you said then yes it's the yellow/gold colouring.
SnowboundGem
If you actually want to breed for better stats it's best to ask for advice from another person I understand how to do it have done it many times. I just can't explain it well.
GrumpyBear
If you input the stats of the parents as is into asb manually it’s possible to find out the original stats of the parents even after leveling. You may need to know roughly the taming effectiveness you had because there might be a couple different conclusions based on that. But asb can make a good guess as to what effectiveness you had.
