    Spent like an hour gathering up stuff on my main map, transfered it to my guy on gentwo 1009, roll back happened, hours later when i was able to get back in, all my stuff was gone, not in the upload cause it'd been downloaded, not on my guy cause like a 20min roll back had happened and that just happened to coincide with my download time. It gives my life a sense of stability to come back to my favorite game after not playing for like a year, and see that transfers are still broken, and gen 2 is still basically unplayable.

    Heh... 😅 I hadn't actually thought that far ahead. It just wasn't playable when I tried when it first came out so I uninstalled it. Perhaps if I get the itch to try it out later I'll try for an unofficial or single player then.

    The gen 2 servers have been terrible. I actually uninstalled genesis, and will probably try it out at some later date when it's less insane. So to answer your question "is this common", no. You picked a terrible server to "come back to".

    I agree that the breeding rate is hard, and events should be more breeding focused, like that last one that was a weekend breed only event. And I like that the events are not every weekend. I've been playing this game for like five years, and to me the gathering and experience and taming is a little to easy now. With another 2x bake in, there are more tames that you don't even need to take care of, like knock it out and throw the kibble in and walk away. And on a 2x weekend now, Official is looking more like those unofficial ridiculously boosted servers... game gets disgustingly easy to play. But breeding can still be hard and so boosting it on a weekend is gravy.

    Yea I was watching a youtuber play pvp, and he killed someone at a obelisk and then spent half the rest of the video raving about how awesome it is to get a free kit. Was like idk what that idiot was doing there just standing there with all this awesome stuff on him... I'm thinking like duh, 15min do nothing at the ob is built into the game, tho personally on pvp servers I almost never wait at the ob, but sometimes you're just like meh, I'll risk it and you afk.

    I remember jat replying somewhere in this thread, but it's grown so big I'm not inclined to go looking for one comment. Also when I said shut up, I wasn't referring to anyone, rather the recurring discussion about wild cards decision not to engage us here. And feel free to discuss that regardless, I just did lol.

    You're so wrong. There has been communication. There was even a dev who posted in this very thread. And there was a couple community crunches. But it is true they have a policy of minimal communication, and that has been hotly debated over the years. Some say it's good, creates a fire wall between us and them so they can focus on their work and also not antagonize us with promised fixes while not delivering on time etc... some say it's bad because with out even promised fixes or knowledge of their direction we feel like they do nothing. I say shut up and play the game as it is or go buy a new one. What ever. That is my two cents.

    yea it is much smarter to put metal ladder on your stn pil if not put metal pillar and ladder, as to why so many people do it... lazieness obv, many times I've put out stone pil with wood lad and forgoten to upgrade and wound up loosing my yard

    I feel like extinction servers in general have had it worse. Idk but I doubt some engineer unpluging / pluggin your server will do anything as there is something fundamentally different about that map that is just... broken.

    Over 2 thousand posts, helps keep this thread alive. It helps spread awareness about how unhealthy the servers are, which in theory should cause a good game studio to think about fixing it. Considering that 75.6k people have viewed this thread, and it has stayed near the top of the forums for most of the last year, wild card can safely assume this is their number one issue.

    They say their servers are getting hit with malicious attacks. You say you can't connect to the server with out janky networking hacks... The most common disruptive network attack is known as a massive distributed denial of service. This is accomplished by turning thousands of potentially unwitting computers into a bot net, then spamming the victims network with an overwhelming flow of traffic. The solution is to either divert or ignore the flows. I wouldn't use a vpn, or switch routers, or connect direct by ip. I would run a virus scan and do something else for several hours.

    Did you hit notes/dosier before your rampage (ridding the dino when you step across the note gives the dino xp buff)? Personally I just leave dinos in cryo for a few weeks after they are newly tamed or raised. Sometimes even months or I forget about them entirely, but I'm end game PVE, with more dinos than I will ever need, so I can do that. But after I take them out of cryo after idk how long, they just automatically get like 40-60 lvls.

    My friends and I have experienced something similar on pc official networks. One of us able to log in and play, while the others are unable to even see the server in the list. That sounds to me like networking problems, perhaps related to scripts combating the ddosing. The only way to stop denial of service attacks is basically rerouting the normal traffic, and the attackers traffic just pings a routers port that is just like meh. They can also extend this game of bop a mole into the wider internet, there is companies that own servers that just extend your network to try to confound ddos. But if they don't have enough bandwidth of external router, and the attacks keep coming from different directions, it gets messy.

    Spent a while sorting through dinos, picked out two megatherium, one thylocole, and a deinonychus. Got some other gear, including a few gas masks. Went hunting for the swamp cave. It took me a minute wandering randomly through that end of the redwoods on my deinon, but eventually I got in there and unpodded my three cavers. They seemed to be doing well at first, but I didn't like it for some reason and switched to riding one of the megatherium... oh that's right I remember thinking deinon is over weight so I threw everything in my inv and jumped over. Shortly after that my deinon got way out front and died. Then it went down hill, massive lag and rubber banding and I couldn't tell what was going on. Got so bad I tried to back track out to surface. Then the server crashed right near the entrance. Last thing I was doing was transfering my equipment to a mounts inventory, but I doubt that stuck, been checking battle metrics ever since, but last time my server crashed that hard it was down for a week, been over 2h. Rip deinon, and probably all the rest of it.

    Once again my server came back online after being dead/mostly dead for hours/days/over a week, the performance slowly got better, more and more people flocked to it, crash BANG hamster fire. I was in the middle of the swamp cave ffs. Rip cave gear/dinos. Endless cycle of people going back to play on their servers when they come back, but the servers can't handle like 15/30 or more players connecting. Seriously wc figure this out, what do you need to do? Perhaps lower the server player cap from 70 to 15?
