MultiKore
Earlier a guy appeared on my server saying he had 18k ingots(can't even transfer ingots with cross server), he asked how we were going to do the deal and I said half and half, then when I said "ok cya" he didn't care. It seems these people go from server to server trying to scam people. TL:DR; Be VERY careful when dealing with people from other servers!
Contingency
Unless something has changed since you posted this, you definitely can transfer ingots across arks. I am able to do it on a constant basis. Not to say that definitely that individual was not a scammer, but having ingots was not a giveaway. Firenutz99
Transfer ingots in the character inv, and your able to upload into the obelisk (although sometimes glitchy). what to look out for scam wise is a GT with low/no gamer points. they'll create a new GT, family link it, then be free to roam servers offering giga skins or a rare item and simply steal the trade. Zlickz
Try do have a new system in place to prevent this. Thus I find myself needing to make 30 forum posts...
JaHakk
There should be a trade box that comes up when you initiate a trade instead of having to throw it on the ground that way you know you are getting what you should be getting before you accept the trade. Yeah, something like this would be a good solution.

wildbill
I like another player's idea of how to trade: 1) Invite the person into a room in your base that is secure, but you could do without. Close the door behind them. 2) Give them the item. 3) They give you their item. 4) If the trade went well, you open the door, if not, you keep them locked in until they give back your item
