  1. Dossier entry: “Wild: As an organism, Aegirocassis edmundaemonos stands out as an outlier, and one that questions the validity of everything we know about Element. A horrific drifting radiodont that incubates its eggs within Element veins, the Aegirocassis is the sole remnant of a once prosperous dynasty of arthropods, yet it is so derived in its manner of existence we wonder whether the animal influenced its mutagen, or the other way around. Aegirocassis is all but immune to Element’s psychotropic effects, using it as a catalyst in bodily functions and as structural support. Entirely devoid of secondary effects, in fact, this saturation causes corrupted creatures to ignore them entirely. As such, Aegirocasses are near - invulnerable aerial filter feeders, only threatened by the Titans that corrupt the earth. However, they are not defenseless against them. Aegirocassis ovaries are laden with stem cells and a huge amount of Element - based mutagen, which allows them to give birth to any organism small enough to fit inside its colossal brood sac, albeit highly corrupted. In the wild, Aegirocassis will use their feeding arms in order to draw blood from desirable creatures, and use the genetic information therein to create a perfect duplicate. pods are commonly surrounded by flocks of corrupted pteranodon and wyverns, serving as bodyguards, caloric storage and distractions, effectively turning the Titans’ troops against them. Domesticated: Relatively cognizant arthropods, Aegirocassis can be tamed… in theory. However, each Aegirocassis is connected to its pod and corrupted thralls via a specific wavelength of ultraviolet, which causes adult Aegirocasses to panic and bolt when connection is lost. Juveniles have underdeveloped blacklight emitters, which makes them potential targets, but to access their eggs, one must defend an Element vein whilst power tools are used to excise it from the rootings. An arduous task, not to mention a dangerous one, and one that no one has yet undertaken. Imagine what a tamed Aegirocassis is capable of, if Aegirocassis can perfectly duplicate wyvern individuals from the wild, what can they do with domestic Tyrannosaurs and Yutyrannus? If you can get past their complete corruption, that is….” Aegirocassis edmundaemonos - Details (Species name translates very roughly to “demon of Edmundium”) - Very large, filter - feeder(In captivity, eats exclusively corrupt nodes or organic polymer) - Low speed, about equivalent to a quetzal. Capable of swimming and flying without transition, and can sprint backwards in air and underwater. - Deals low damage, but has high innate armour. Health mediocre for its size. - Starves to death extremely quickly if hunger empties, but eats at an extremely fast pace - faster than its food bar being consumed during gestation. This is to prevent the animal from dying when cloning high level dinos. - Drops chitin, corrupted nodes and a small amount of element. Special: - Seats 5 players. - Corrupted creatures refuse to attack it or any tames close enough to it and will follow the Aegiro to an extent, and will attack its targets, similar to how Carnos act around Yutyrannus. They will remain attached to the Aegiro if it stays still, but they will disperse after following it travel for a while. - Radiation immune - Regens stamina in midair - A very large amount of element can be given to an Aegiro to give it a random mutation. They are not breedable, although they can mate boost. This allows the Aegirocassis to clone heavily mutated creatures, although at a massive initial investment. - Secondary attack absorbs a target’s genetic information. If the creature can be corrupted, pressing the C button whilst mounted will clone a CORRUPTED VERSION of the creature for spending a certain amount of hunger. Amount scales off of target level. (if a dino cannot be corrupted, the Aegirocassis can still act as a normal cloning chamber, using element shards.) (Dino cloning time scales off of size and level, and small creatures such as low level raptors and dilos can be complete in minutes, but larger creatures still may take days. Resource consumption still scales off levels only. Arthropods and already corrupted creatures get a bonus 50% off on gestation time.) (Instead of taking all resources at once, the Aegirocassis will simply quickly drain it over time. Running out pauses the cloning process. This permits cloning any creature within its size limit, but posing the risk of starvation. Access the radial menu to cancel the current gestation.) - Pressing the X button whilst mounted activates an attack that rapidly drains element from a corrupted creature, removing its corruption. Creatures are knocked out after being uncorrupted but cannot be tamed. The player must wake it and knock it out again. if the creature is a clone of a tamed creature, then it will be claimable by the original owners. The duration depends on the level of the target, and if interrupted must be started again. You can dismount during this. DINOS CLONED CANNOT EXCEED THE AEGIROCASSIS’ OWN LEVEL. This balances Aegirocassis as both an endgame and midgame tame, but players will have difficulty obtaining a high - level Aegiro at mid - game and thus cannot duplicate high - level creatures rapidly unless they are extremely dedicated. Attacks: - Primary fire: Double attack with raptorial appendages. - Secondary fire: Extends appendages for genetic sequencing. - Spacebar: Jettisons forward with great acceleration. Has a cooldown and cannot be used when gestating. - C : Clones the creature if resources are sufficient. Another creature cannot be cloned until gestation finishes for the first one. Dinos must be smaller than a Rex, and cannot be exclusively aquatic. - X : Extends appendages to remove corruption. The process will take longer depending on creature level. Taming/Spawning: - Wild Aegirocassis spawns in pods, flying. They are surrounded by hostile corrupted(wyvern, rock drake, and pteranodons). Most commonly found near the King Titan arena and the Desert TItan arena. - Taming requires the player to find a special Element Vein, which has an egg embedded in the main node. Defending and harvesting the vein will produce one Aegiro egg. The larger the vein, the higher level the egg, and the more difficult the hordes will be. - The egg is rooted, and when placed down cannot be moved. Use an incubator. TL:DR: Aegirocassis permits for the QUICK MASS PRODUCTION OF SMALL TAMES IN AND OUT OF COMBAT for the purposes of boss battle or war. Although limited in size and potentially ending up with corrupted dinos, you have true power in numbers and cheap, quick manufacturing of disposable creatures. It is a one man army bundled up into a giant floating shrimp, with the full strength of the Corrupted at your fingertips.
  2. Aegirocassis is the biggest dinocaridid. They were swimming in the Ordovician sea, and filtering and eating plankton. I submit them as new creatures of The Center. abilities: Can stab the front and attack the back Water breath to medium distance Head has armor Immunity to the poison of Cnidaria Reduce the rider's oxygen consumption Produce the organic polymer (filter from seawater) Get ammonite bile safely from live ammonite You can passive-tame aegirocassis. They prefer ammonite bile the most, and others in the order of angler gel, leech blood, and meat. They eat the same foods after taming. Dossier Name: Aegirocassis Species: Aegirocassis cthuluhutridens Time: Early Ordovician Diet: Filter feeder, sometimes Carnivorous temperament: Passive Wild There is no stranger than Aegirocassis in this sea. Despite their huge body, they can't say that they like meat and fish, and they gather plankton and detritus with the thorns of their arms and eat it. This quiet giant has a developed shell on the head, and uses its pointed tip when taking animal matter or protecting itself from external enemies. They quickly stick out them head and Charge. Although swimming is not very fast, predators who are afraid of being skewered in this way hesitate to hunt Aegirocassis. In addition, one fisherman said aegirocassis can spit out the water flow to beat back an attacking dunkleosteus. Domesticate Aegirocassis can be domesticated with scrap meat and fish fillets, but apparently they prefer softer and easier to eat, such as ammonite body fluids and leech blood. I don't recommend knocking out because they don't like being suppressed. However, if you get their loyalty, the hard and sharp shell like a knight's armor and weapon and the ability to spit out the water flow will strengthen both your offense and defense, and if you skillfully handle the gills on your back, you can extend the time to drown. But…aegirocassis is good at filtering polymer components from the sea. Are you ready to process it ? wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aegirocassis
  3. Gigatitan In real life Gigatitan was a huge titanopteran insect that was related to modern grasshoppers. Its wingspan was around 40cm and it was so large that it was only capable of gliding. It was a predator with arms similar to a mantis. In ark Gigatitan will be the size of a wyvern although a similar size to a quetzal or rhynio could also work. It will be able to climb on cliffs and use that or its jump ability to lift off. It will have the following ablities Wing flap Once airborne gigatitan can occasionally flap its wings to increase speed and altitude/ Slash with its front legs it will slash the area perfect for doing precise dive bombing damage without getting to close to the ground Wing clipper while in flight it can capture other flyers and damage their wings. This will put the flyer into a glide mode where it will be forced to the ground and temporarily disabled. Perfect for gigatitan to catch up on its prey taming to tame them you will have to hold on to them with a grappling hook and target wild flyers that the gigatitan will attack (similar to how tamed animals attack a target) in this time you need to get it to kill as many as possible before it lands which it will after not having a target for a while. Breeding gigatitan laid its eggs inside of plants so in game you will have to put the eggs in a plant species or crop plant which it will destroy
  4. Dossier Generic Info: Common Name: Uropygi Species: Mastigoproctus titanteus Time Period: Carboniferous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Territorial Tameable: Yes Rideable: Yes Breedable: Yes Taming Method: Passive Emblized By: Large Bear Trap, Chain Bola Prefered Food: Alpha Tributes A real life Uropygi (aka Whip Scorpion or Vinegaroon). Wild: The Uropygi is a giant relative of modern day whip scorpions. They spawn just about anywhere on Aberration (but are VERY, VERY rare). They have an increased chance to spawn on the surface. They are very powerful with their claws dealing bleed damage and their whip-like flagella being able to stun enemies and pull survivors off their mounts. They’re very territorial and will attack any challenger that steps foot in their domain. These are ambush predators that will burrow into the ground and attack their prey from above, similar to the Basilisk and Reapers. Although unlike true scorpions like Pulmonoscorpius, they are completely non-venomous, but still deadly due to their claws having the ability to cause their targets to take intense bleed damage. The males of this species have much larger claws and longer forearms than the females. Taming: Taming the Uropygi is not an easy task. Their exoskeleton is too hard to be pierced by tranqs so the best way to tame this creature is by immobilizing it with a large bear trap or a chain bola, then feed it tribute items. This creature is incredibly fussy and won’t be willing to trust survivors that easily. They will only trust a survivor when they feed it several tributes from creatures on the map. This includes Nameless Venom, Spino Sails, among others. You get extra taming effectiveness when you use Alpha Tributes like Alpha Basilisk Fangs, Alpha Karkinos Claws, and Alpha Reaper King Barbs. Once Tamed: Uropygi can be mounted with a saddle unlocked at level 97. This saddle has a special cockpit similar to the Magmasaur saddle. This allows the arthropod to bury into the ground, and even move around, with the survivor still being able to breathe and keep sand or dirt out of their eyes. This makes it a great traveling mount as well as a powerful war mount. Additionally, their strong exoskeleton makes it so they are immune to radiation and can go out on the surface of Aberration during the daytime, for their exoskeletons can absorb ultraviolet rays. Survivors can use this to their advantage. If a tamed Uropygi is hit with a Charge Lantern, they will absorb its rays and emit charge light throughout their whole body. This effect makes the arachnid much more powerful, but only lasts for about 10 minutes. It will also weaken any Nameless and Reapers in the area. Uropygi Saddle Concept. A tamed Uropygi buffed after being hit with a charge lantern. Controls: Left Click: Claw Attack (Main Attack) Right Click: Whip Attack C: Burrow/Surface X: Claw Swipe Attack *And yes, I was inspired by the Silurian Scorpion from Primeval. I only used the model for the dossier because I can’t create awesome paleo artwork.
  5. With all the features and creatures present in the oceans of Ark, most water bodies are quite empty, or have a lack of interesting fauna and floral biodiversity. A characteristic that my team and I hope will be implemented more into Ark 2 for aquatic environments, though for animals to be introduced to Ark. One taxonomic classification of animalia that is usually under-looked are crustaceans, with only the Karkinos being present in Ark on specific maps. For a new addition, why not a Carboniferous Period crustacean distantly related to Mantis Shrimp, crustaceans who have the fastest and strongest punches in the animal kingdom. For size purposes, most Mantis Shrimp are quite small with only a few species growing up to or around 40 cm's in length (specifically the species Lysiosquillina maculata), this fictional species will be quite larger than its early ancestors, both for adaptive radiation and biological purposes, and because about 80% of animals in Ark are oversized (common trend). Common Name: Aenigmacaris Species: Aenigmacaris tromeronychus Time: Early Carboniferous Diet: Omnivore (primarily Durophagous) Temperament: Territorial Tameable: Yes Rideable: Yes Breedable: Yes Torpidity Immune: No Taming Method: Knockout Preferred Kibble: Superior Preferred Food: Chitin Equipment: “Aenigmacaris Saddle” (Level 71 - Crafted at either a Smithy or an Argentavis saddle) Rider Weaponry: No Humans Can Carry: No https://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/collections-database/arthropods/crustaceans/aenigmacaris-cornigerum-schram-horner-1979-r88/ Wild "Lurking within crevices in the seafloor, Aenigmacaris tromeronychus is a gigantic species of proto-mantis shrimp that lurks in tropical and humid oceanic environments. Ranging from reefs to abrasion coasts, these crustaceans are more robust, aggressive and armoured than their Earth counterparts. Their most notable feature, the dactyl clubs on their raptorial appendages, have evolved chitinous plates and extensions of their exoskeleton that allow the mantis shrimp to strike at speeds faster than a bullet. Enough force to break through mollusk shells, the carapaces of trilobites and break bone in vertebrates''. Domesticated "Survivors who tame Aenigmacaris find that its specialised forearms, its eyes that are able to detect various wavelengths of light, its ability to block the attacks of foes with its telson, and its ability to turn and move at short-timed bursts quicker than a dime; makes this crustacean a perfect siege and shielding mount that can impact its surrounding habitat with the snap of its claws''. Anatomy Discovered originally and documented from 1978 to 1979 by Frederick Robert Schram and Jack Horner, the species Aenigmacaris cornigerum has been found throughout Montana, similar to other Aeschronectida crustaceans. However, Aenigmacaris has more characteristics prominent in this genus, and is considered more closely related to mantis shrimps or modern day Hoplocarida than other proto-genera. A. cornigerum was found in the Late Mississippian subperiod Bear Gulch Limestone, more specifically in the Heath Formation of Montana, while the species A. minima has been found in the Kinney Clay Pit or Kinney Brick Quarry, and the Late Pennsylvanian subperiod Madera Formation/Group both in the Manzanita Mountains of New Mexico. Not much has been documented about this genus, with these shrimp being on average, around 102 mms in length (the fictional species is around 5 ft in length and 4.7 to 5 ft at its thorax to antennae). Like most crustaceans in their taxonomic classification, they had a layered chitinous exoskeleton and were quite abundant in the fossil record in their given sites and formations. Aenigmacaris had the basic body plan of most Aeschronectida, that including 3 long flagellate antenna, an enlarged abdomen, a shortened thorax, 3 segmented thoracic protopods (appendages), cephalic kinesis, pleopodal epipodite gills, an articulated rostrum and their body plan being divided into four segments or tagmata (including a food-processing unit, the pleon (the abdomen of a crustacean) and tailfan (used in propulsion), the walking-appendages and the sensorial unit). The carapace of these crustaceans covers the entire thorax and their compound eyes are stalked on the anterior cephalon of the head. The paleoenvironment of the Late Mississippian Carboniferous Bear Gulch Lime in the Madera Group/Formation in Central Montana consisted of a variety of fauna and flora, such as the earliest Synziphosurina Anderella parva, different genera of shrimp such as Belotelson magister and Sairocaris centurion, Carboniferous Period Horseshoe crabs like Euproops, cephalopods (ammonites, nautiloids and coleoids), a wide array of worms (nematodes, bristle worms and ribbon worms), cartilaginous fish such as Belantsea montana, Debeerius ellefseni, Falcatus falcatus, Stethacanthus, Thrinacodus and Squatinactis montanus, Actinopterygians or ray-finned fish like Cyranorhis bergeraci and Discoserra pectinodon, and lobe-finned fish including early coelocanths. In the formations Aegnimacaris cornigerum specimens have been uncovered, many of these shrimp appear to have fed on small prey present in and around algal growths. Design While the original genus of Aenigmacaris lacked any presence of clubbed claws, the fictional restoration Aenigmacaris tromeronychus has features prominent with Holocene Mantis Shrimps, the only living ancestors that have the closest relations to these shrimp. For the design of this species, A. tromeronychus should have the base body plan of Aeschronectida crustaceans, such as Cragopsis socialis with features like the shield carapace over the thorax, its limb count, feeding appendages and telson: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Crangopsis-socialis-Salter-1861-OM-B-13970-Partial-reconstruction-Note-the-upraised_fig5_277674538 For a colour pallet, the texture of the Aegnimacaris should vary amongst individuals, with some having bright patterns similar to a Peacock Mantis Shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odontodactylus_scyllarus Or The Purple Spot Mantis Shrimp or Gonodactylus smithii https://lifg.australianmuseum.net.au/Group.html?groupId=I5dgCwCr And others might have more bland or camouflage-based colour pallets designed to blend in with the oceanic floor: Squilla Empussa https://ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthropoda/crustacea/malacostraca/eumalacostraca/royslist/species.php?name=s_empusa While having characteristics present with the original Aenigmacaris, the fictional species should have smasher-type or “clubbed” dactyl appendages to differentiate it from other mantis shrimp species, but would play as an evolutionary and advantageous adaptation for this crustacean’s survival in the harsh biosphere/ecosystem centred around Ark Survival Evolved. The tailfin and telson should contain a reinforced exoskeleton and plating in correlation with its abilities and defensive purpose. Abilities - Aenigmacaris can boil surrounding seawater through the use of their forelimbs, purposefully superheating and vaporising water with the spring of its club-like appendages. This behaviour present in mantis shrimps demonstrates how the intense velocity and momentum created from their claws can result in the production of cavitation bubbles and enough force to result in sonoluminescence. Creating a flash of light (which has a 10% of stunning prey - Stunning Ability) with temperatures warmer than 4000℃. Aenigmacaris can provide heat absorption and warmness insulation effects within a given designation around the crustacean towards nearby survivors, when in combat or spring-loading its claws (which can also boil, burn or deal thermal damage to enemies that are struck by its claws). - Aenigmacaris tromeronychus have a melee attack known as “Shockwave (Shochwaved when dealted to opponents)''. When the pressure in a cavitation bubble collapses due to a shift in said pressure and force from potential energy that increases in a surrounding water body, from the use of their raptorial claws. Modern day mantis shrimp can create “shockwaves' ' that can stun or kill prey. This physical ability could be implemented into this fictional species of Aegnimacaris. - Similar to the 450 different species of Earth mantis shrimp, the compound eyes of Aenigmacaris can detect the multiple wavelengths of the light spectrum, similar to humans, but can detect ultraviolet and polarised light. Allowing these crustaceans to detect and differentiate prey from the blue reflections and background of the continuous ocean depths. Granting the Aenigmacaris a visual enhancing ability that allows the crustacean to detect the slightest movement signals and disturbances in its surrounding environment. - Peacock Mantis Shrimp and other “Smasher-based or non-sparring appendage” Stomatopoda are known for their ability to break through glass and structures with the momentum of a 22. Calibre bullet, capable of easily devastating aquariums. If this was applied to a gigantic species, the potential energy released would be more impactful. Aenigmacaris have an applied buff known as “Splintered”. The longer a charged snap is held, the damage increases and can dent or immediately destroy or decrease the fortitude of foundations, structures and building materials depending on the set or material. - Aenigmacaris have a quick turning radius, though it requires a lot of stamina. - Based on the characteristics present in Aenigmacaris and other Aeschronectida, the carapace protects the thorax and the body parts connected to the head. Providing further safeguarding for vulnerable organs and weak points that can potentially be advantageous for predators. This exoskeleton plating or “shell” blocks about 80% of oncoming melee and range damage dealt to the head. - When in combat, both wild and tamed Aenigmacaris can fold their body’s inwards (in a foetal position) with their telson, tail plates and tailfin bending towards the body. Being able to absorb and deflect incoming melee damage with resistant and relatively thick armour plated or calcified cuticles along the tail that naturally protect mantis shrimp and Aenigmacaris during territorial telson sparring sessions. - Aenigmacaris will naturally hunt trilobites, ammonites, Eurypterid sea scorptions and small fish. While they don’t have a gathering or material collection boost, these crustaceans receive an experience point boost, similar to imprinting, though it applies to specific species of aquatic organisms. There is also a small chance (5%) of a buff known as “Triturate '', where the shells of marine arthropods decrease in defence and health recovery or natural regeneration when struck by a Aenigmacaris snap, breaking opposing shells in the process. - Knockout taming these organisms is a dangerous process. High-level wild Aenigmacaris can one shot survivors given the time and chance, which is why elasmosaurus and Dunkleosteus placoderms are recommended in distracting or degrading the armour and health of the Aenigmacaris to about 15%. Allowing the player to feed the mantis shrimp chitin or kibble (higher efficiency) every 5 to 10 minutes, with its health very slowly regenerating. This process will continue until the animal is tamed. - Present in most mantis shrimp species, both males and females are monogamous and will only have one specific mate throughout their entire lifespan. This creates trust bonds, and coordination/cooperation between the pair that can influence the stats of offspring Aenigmacaris and the imprinting process of larvae. Weaknesses - To balance out the abilities of the Aengimacaris, these crustaceans have a slower movement speed and swimming capabilities. Instead, adapted for a territorial, ambush-based and melee implemented niches/roles. - Aenigmacaris are weak to large or specialised oceanic predators, including Elasmosaurus (are able to manoeuvre and outpace the attacks of Aenigmacaris), Mosasaurs, Baryonyx (stun attack), Spinosaurus, Dunkleosteus (are able to break through the exoskeleton of Aenigmacaris and are not affected by about 75% of the defensive buffs and boosts applied by the Aenigmacaris) and Sarcosuchus (death roll and agility). - Mantis Shrimp and numerous different species of aquatic crustaceans can survive out of water for a given time, though Aenigmacaris have a unique metre that monitors their moisture levels from surrounding influences. Temperature, climate, humidity and weather can affect stress levels and the conditions that allow these crustaceans to survive outside of water. - Based on studies on Peacock Mantis Shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus) The snapping of the dactyl clubs on the forearms of a mantis shrimp decreases their overall force, momentum and velocity when outside of a water source. Punching at an estimated half variable/percentage approximately speed-wise when in the presence of air, when compared to water. This applies to Aenigmacaris where melee damage is debuffed by a percentage of 50% or (½) outside of saltwater. - Aenigmacaris larvae are very feeble and infirm, being a potential prey source to numerous predatory organisms including cnidaria, electrophorus, megalodons, mantas and megapiranhas. Increasing the requirements/demands essential to raising and breeding these crustaceans. Any suggestions and comments please reply below. This is still a work in process. These are my team's suggestions, so all credit and reference goes to them for the idea (s). 6. Common name: Tokummia Species: Tokummia katalepsis Time: Cambrian Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Passive Wild: Tokkumia katalepsis is a fascinating creature that can be found within most bodies of water within the ARK. A small scavenger, it devours anything that falls to the floor of the body of water its in. Occasionally, it may attack and eat smaller prey, but it ignores other animals for the most part. With its shell, it doesn't have to worry about predators, though they don't seem to pay much attention to them anyway. Despite their seeming insignificance, Tokummia are an important part of the ecosystems they inhabit, as they clean up any dead creatures that may find their way to the little critter. Domesticated: At first, I thought Tokkumia wouldn't be more than a mere pet, but I was completely wrong. Tokkumia is surprisingly intelligent, capable of being taught to collect certain items. It can also unlock doors and containers, useful for any would-be thief inhabiting the ARKs. I've even seen a few survivors teach it to refill troughs! Taming: Tokkumia would be tamed by dropping honey in front of it, and allowing it to consume it. Not very complicated, making them pretty easy to get. Uses: -Tokkumia would be capable of picking up items on the floor, including eggs, fertilized eggs, feces, achatina paste, etc. It can be selected in a menu, and the Tokkumia would wander a set area, going to and picking up any of the specific item that is in its range. It can be linked to a storage container, such as a vault, fridge, or storage box and the Tokkumia will bring the item to said storage container. In case the container fills up, it could possibly be linked to multiple containers. -Tokkumia can lock pick doors and structures only in PVP. This includes containers and other structures, of course. -Tokkumia can be linked to a container of food to refill troughs when it runs out. -Tokkumia is a shoulder pet, will give a weight reduction to all items in player's inventory -Tokkumia is ignored by wild creatures, so if any manage to get into your base, they won't be a threat to it. -Tokkumia doesn't have an oxygen stat, so it functions on land and in water. Obviously, it would be able to swim in water, allowing you to farm aquatic eggs. Ark has gone long enough without a creature that can automatically pick up egg, fertilized, eggs, achatina paste, feces, etc so that you can save time farming things. Please consider voting Tokummia if you want Ark to finally have an automatic pick up creature, something that the game definitely needs. Image credit: Lars Fields
  7. Trigonotarbida - Wikipedia Palaeocharinus - Wikipedia Trigonotarbida is a family of extinct arachnids. Distinguished by their bulky look and segmented armored plates. My design for this Trigonotarbid is based off of Palaeocharinus, decided to go with Trigonotarbid as I believe it's a better name. (Tell me if I need to change that in the comments) APPEARANCE & SPAWN This one in particular is a bit larger than a real Trigo, but since when does ARK stay true to sizes? In comparison, the Trigonotarbid would be identical to the Megachelon in size. Trigonotarbids typically have dark orange hue to them, similar to sand, but occasionally, they can appear in other colors such as white, light orange, red, or by rare chance, blue or even black! You can find younger, less experienced Trigos in open areas on the map, usually grouped together in small packs. However, higher leveled, older Trigos can be found in the outer region of the desert, where the most corpses can be found, yet where the most dangerous predators can be found too. SADDLE & TAME METHOD Trigonotarbids, like Megachelons, have natural platform saddles, which would be a game-changer for SE due to the lack of platform-saddle creatures on the map. Their saddle also acts as a mortar and pestle. Trigos, despite their size and apperance, are strictly scavengers, and only feed on corpses or near dying creatures (make sure not to leave a weakened creature nearby!). Their taming method is the same, requiring you to bring corpses of creatures to them in order to tame. Level, Size, and time it takes to consume all influence taming effectiveness. However, Trigos have huge appetites! They can down many corpses before they're full, so make sure to bring plenty to tame one! ACTIVE ABILITIES Like most arachnids(except aranoes lmao), Trigos can climb on vertical surfaces, which is surprising given their size! The powerful legs of this spider can also kick creatures away (kick direction dependent on camera). These titans can also jump, which can lead into a ground-slam, dealing massive damage to anything underneath! Since they feed on corpses, obviously they can drag corpses around. (which could make taming higher level Trigos easier ;>) They also can do a simple bite attack, but more impressively, they can rear up on their hind legs(like a tarantula today) and deal a heavy bite, both biting attacks also give poison. Rearing on their hind legs can be cancelled, in case a creature flees from the sheer sight of this stance (most creatures under the size of a Rex will) PASSIVE ABILITIES The colors of Trigonotarbids tend to look similar to rocks, so creatures are less likely to attack them. Jug Bugs often seek Trigos as shelter, Jug Bugs hide under Trigos for safety. The heavy shell of Trigos are incredibly durable, arrows and bullets are pretty much useless to harm these guys! Every now and then, a Trigo will molt and produce "Trigo Molt", this shell works similar to shell fragments! Lastly, they'll produce organic polymer, like vomit, this removes any unwanted substances from their stomachs. HARVESTING CAPABILITY Trigonotarbid legs, due to their strength, can take down trees, cacti, and smash rocks with ease! These 3 resources, and sand, all have weight reductions of 60%. DIET Wild Trigonotarbids, as mentioned before, eat only corpses and weak creatures. However, tamed Trigonotarbids can eat meat. BREEDING Trigonotarbids can only breed during the hottest areas and days (or when temperature exceeds 60). They only mate during these times due to other creatures hiding from the heat, so it's safe to do such a vulnerable act. TLDR: Bigass Spider Feed corpses to tame(higher level + larger creature = faster tame) Can Jump Basic Bite Heavy Bite (rear up on hind legs) Can scare creatures smaller than Rex (when reared up on hind legs) Can Ground-Slam High-Knockback kick Common Color Variations: Sandy Orange, Light Sandy Orange, Red, and White Rare Color Variations: Blue and Black Carries a Ton Strong Armor Can Climb Walls Harvests Stone, Sand, Cactus Sap, and Wood 60% weight reduction on above Jug Bug Lure Less likely to be targeted (camouflaged) Natural Platform Saddle (similar to Megachelon) Saddle acts as Mortar and Pestle Lower Levels inside of the map Higher Levels on outer edges of the map Only breeds when temperature is over 60 degrees Aggros on low health creatures Can Drag Corpses Tamed can eat meat Spawn grouped with 2 others CONCLUSION: VOTE FOR BIG ENEMY SPIDER! Even though the winner of the previous vote was a bug, we still need more useful Arthropods in ARK! P.S. Feel free to recommend other features in the comments! (Art done by me <3)
  8. Opabinia: The Portable Hydration Station Basic info: Group: Arthropod Species: Opabinia regalis Diet: Carnivorous Temperament: Reactive Description: Opabinia is a strange and rare arthropod that lives in the various oases that scatter the map. Although they can 'swim' through the desert sand, they prefer an aquatic lifestyle and are only found underwater in the wild. It's slightly larger than its prehistoric counterpart, retaining most of its ancestor's odd features: five stalked eyes scattered atop its head, segmented flaps that propel Opabinia forward at surprising speeds and a long 'trunk-like' proboscis with a deadly claw at its end. It uses this to latch onto its prey, and to absorb large quantities of water within its body to help survive against droughts. Opabinia will attack as soon as it notices you enter the water, doing bleeding damage over time. Utility: Hydration/Living Waterskin: Using its trunk to drink its body weight in water, it can latch on to anyone that tames it like a backpack. Providing hydration to the wearer at the cost of speed. Water still appears to evaporate over time, although it may do so at a slower rate. If the Opabinia runs out of water, it will seek a more desperate means of survival and become parasitic. Parasitic: It uses its clawed proboscis to latch deeper into its host's body, doing a small amount of bleeding damage over time as it feeds. It is near impossible to remove Opabinia once it has taken blood from its host. If Opabinia's host dies whilst it is in this mode, it rejects its owner and is no longer tamed, swimming rapidly through the sand and back to the nearest oasis. Drops: Raw Meat Chitin Taming: Opabinia can be passive tamed by approaching it while wearing ghilie armor. It will no longer attack underwater unless provoked, and instead will latch onto the player, taming over time while decreasing the players' water bar at a much faster rate than usual. Once bred, the Opabinia stays attached to the host and provides its body weight in water. Keeping it hydrated will ensure it doesn't become untamed upon the player's death. Breeding: Opabinia cannot be bred. Sources: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opabinia
  9. This crocodile sized Eurypterid, sea scorpion, lived during the Silurian period of the Paleozoic Era. It was the one of the largest arthropods to ever live. In Ark I believe it would live in the ocean, and cross into rivers similar to the real one. I think for abilities Pterygotus would be able to burrow under the sand and leap out with a grab attack that could pick up unfortunate players and creatures. It’s thick armor would make it incredibly tough, but the dunkleosteus would be easily able to stop it. This nightmare of a creature could also produce torpor like it’s smaller cousins already in the game. Another idea is that they live in burrows and collect items similar to the giant beaver. Wild: in the wild it would be a pretty aggressive creature, this treasure collector when threatened would have a tail whip ability like the baryonx, but instead of paralysis it would endure torpor. taming: to tame this monster arthropod you would have to wait for it leave it’s burrow to look for food, then sneak over to the burrow and see what items it would want to collect, then you place an item in there and run. Once an item is placed it goes over to check and gets progress on the taming meter. After completing it’s wishlist a mini game is triggered in this you help the pterygotus hunt, and find treasure. During the mini game the rest of the taming bar gets filled, but go quick because it has low patience. Domesticated: once domesticated it can help you endure torpor in the water, but beware the dunkleosteuos for they are it’s mortal enemy. The dunky’s jaws can shatter the chitin of your new scorpion pal, but many other marine creatures better watch out because this scorpion’s armor is pretty powerful. It also keeps the previously mentioned tail whip and can burrow underground and collect recourses such as metal, obsidian, crystal, and stone. It’s last attack is a grab attack that can pick up smaller creatures. pvp: this creature would have a few pvp uses such as stealing the inventories of players you killed. And it with it’s burrow it could be a great surprise attack. That is my pitch for pterygotus for the ark creatures vote of 2023! And thanks to anyone who votes for my creature!
  10. Name: Strashila Species: Strashila Incredibilis Time: Middle-Jurassic Diet: Piscivorous Temperament: Territorial Size: Around the same size as or a bit smaller than a Maewing Breedable?: Yes (requires submergence in water similar to Beelzebufo.) WILD Much like the other ‘bugs’ of the island, Strashila Incredibilis is a mite larger than you’d expect. Similarly unlike their living counterpart whose wings were believed to be deciduous, the Ark's Strashila appear to keep and use theirs. They tend to congregate in swamp rivers, living with—and feeding off of—fish and leeches. Strangely, the little blood-sucking buggers seem to completely ignore them. As long as you keep your distance, Strashila will leave you alone. Get especially close, and they’ll get rather cranky—not something you’ll want when these fellows can go just about anywhere! I’ve been told that a bite of fish can earn their affection, just be careful not to get too close! DOMESTICATED Once tamed, Strashila’s success in the air, land, and water makes it a very flexible mount. Water is their specialty; their wings help them dive through the water at incredible speeds. When a Strashila rider gets into a tricky situation underwater, their mount can simply launch themselves out of the water and fly off! I’ve heard that they’re a lifesaver for those hard-to-get resources in thick swamp water or in underwater caves. I’ve also heard that they make for good fishing buddies! Not only do they excrete a sweet, sticky substance that attracts some fish, but they’re extremely good at gathering the leech blood that the fishermen around here say works good as bait. They’re decent air mounts too; those large wings of theirs make gliding through the air a breeze! Gutsy survivors even use them to hitch rides off of much larger organisms! BEHAVIOR Strashila spawn in groups of 3-6 just about anywhere in swamp biomes. They can be found either along the banks of rivers/bodies of water or submerged at the bottoms of lakes and ponds. Aggro range is somewhere in-between a Dilophosaur and a Chalicotherium. If one Strashila is aggroed within a certain range of others, the other Strashila may aggro on the player as well. Bug Spray works to lengthen the time a Survivor can be near a Strashila before setting it off, but will not completely protect from possible aggro. Strashila will only attack/hunt fish and leeches, and remains passive to most other creatures unless attacked. Aggressive when engaged with. Being arthropods, wild Megatherium and Sinomacrops will aggro on them. TAMING Strashila can be passively tamed by use of Fish Meat, Leech Blood, or Prime Fish Meat. Bug Spray is advised for taming as one can easily aggravate one member of the group and set the rest off. However, if one is quick enough it is possible to quickly run up, feed a Strashila, and get outside of aggro-range before the beast is set off. Just be careful you're not running from one and straight into another! Passive Abilities -Land/air/sea mount -Flexible flight maneuverability (Similar controls to Tapejara) -Cling to walls for Stamina Regen -Fishing proficiency x2 -Dismount-proof (I.e. Riders cannot be dismounted via the likes of Kaprosuchus or Microraptor.) -x2 damage against fish -50% damage resist vs. pesciforms -Leechproof + protects the rider from leeches as well -Leech blood proficiency -Fish meat/leech blood 75% weight reduction -No oxygen bar Unique Abilities Latching: Strashila are capable of latching onto creatures larger than themselves, although this does drain stamina and cannot be used indefinitely. Attacking in this state will rapidly deplete stamina and should be used with caution. Right-clicking in this state will use a kicking attack that deals more damage, again at the cost of stamina. While not invulnerable in this state, so long as the Strashila is positioned somewhere where the victim cannot attack them back, it can avoid taking damage in a fight it otherwise may have been out-tanked in. On creatures smaller than Strashila, this attack functions much like the raptor's pouncing attack. Sap Substitution: Strashila will passively generate a Tree Sap substitute that can likewise be used in any recipes/situations normally requiring Tree Sap, at the cost of the subsitute having an eventual expiration date. Mobile Fishing Spot: Survivors can hover a Strashila over any good fishing location and easily fish from the back of their mount without worry of being ambushed by a Spinosaurus from behind. Fishing Proficiency x2: While fishing with a tame Strashila nearby, or by fishing from the back of a Strashila, the survivor is more likely to find higher-quality engram blueprints and items than usual. Also encourages fish to bite more often, and be easier to catch. Fish Damage Resist: 50% Resistance to Damage Dealt by fish (Ex: Piranhas, Dunkleosteus, any Pisciform really.) Sticky Spit: Spit attack that both blinds + slows the target If there are any good suggestions for other possible abilities to add here I'd love to see them! Overall I see these critters adding some quality-of-life to living in the swamp biome + potentially a good aquatic explorer. And I'd love to get a good versatile bug mount in-game.. Plus. There have been too many times where I was sitting by a pond fishing only to have a Theriznosaurus saunter up behind me so . A safe fishing spot would be nice x') Source links: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strashilidae https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strashila http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tGHzOEp3UKA/TQeAk2RakqI/AAAAAAAACSk/tMEaFDLvj04/s1600/GRIMALDI_2005_Strashila_incredibili.jpg
  11. Common Name: Giant redknee Species: Brachypelma Gigas Time: Unknown Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Defensive Wild Brachypelma Gigas closely resembles modern day tarantulas of the Brachypelma genus. More specifically B. hamorii or B. smithi, save for the fact that it's enormous, being around the size of the islands Carnotaurus. As long as you don't get too close though it isn't overly dangerous, since like modern day tarantulas the Brachypelma Gigas prefers to sit on a bed of silk and wait for suitable prey to come within striking range. As which point the tarantula will pounce on it and pin it down. So as long as you don't get too close you shouldn't have a problem. Brachypelma gigas can most commonly be found within caves but can occasionaly be seen above ground as well. It generally makes it's home in dry, desert type environments. Domesticated In order to tame Brachypelma gigas one must gather up some sacrificial tames, preferably giant insects as tarantulas are generally insectivores, and throw or whistle them into the tarantulas striking range. Once it's pinned down the prey you can simply walk up and pet it while it's distracted with it's food, slowly getting it used to you. Once tamed Brachypelma gigas makes for a fantastic helper when it comes to taming other animals. It's able to lay down silk mats on the ground which function like bear traps, stopping small to medium sized animals in their tracks. Unlike metal bear traps though it's silk is biodegradable and will dissolve after a few minutes even if nothing steps on it. It also injects torpor inducing venom with every bite and can flick urticating hairs from it's abdomen which slow and temporarily blind smaller creatures. It does take a while for the hair to grow back though so it can't be relied on constantly. Brachypelma gigas is also capable of climbing walls and cliffs. Although being a heavy bodied, terrestrial species it's not very good at it. Making it a somewhat slow climber and it certainly can't cling on to ceilings or the roof of caves. Tameable: Yes Rideable: Yes Breedable: Yes Extra notes (Not part of dossier) I know this isn't an extinct animal so maybe it doesn't qualify for this but since Ark has mythical creatures I figured I'd submit it anyway. I always thought a giant tarantula would be really cool ever since scorched earth came out and I'd really love to see this in Ark. And having a creature dedicated to helping tame other animals as well as being a decent all-around mount would be nice. I imagine this to be on the higher end of mid level as far as the saddle goes. And I think it's be cool if instead of a normal saddle your character just sat on top of the carapace and held onto reins that were affixed around the base of the pedipalps where they connect to the cephalothorax. I also think it'd be really neat if the abdomen changed size depending on how well fed it is. When it's hunger is full the abdomen would be somewhat bigger compared to the cephalothorax. When it's food is almost or completely empty the abdomen would be noticeably small compared to the cephalothorax. I have no idea how hard that'd be to do though so it's just kinda a spitball idea. If it's unrealistic I'd totally understand. So yeah, this is my idea for an animal to add. I've played and loved Ark for over 7,600 hours, which I'm pretty sure is longer than every other game I've played in my life combined. So to see one of my favorite animals added to the game would just be absolutely amazing. But I also understand most people don't like spiders/tarantulas so I can't imagine my suggestion will be very popular. But one can always dream. And although I think a tarantula in the Brachypelma genus would be best I'd be happy to see any species of tarantula in the game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachypelma_hamorii
  12. https://prehistoric-wiki.fandom.com/wiki/Tyrannophontes The giant mantis shrimp is anything but a shrimp, like other chitinous residents of the ark the giant mantis shrimp is several times larger than it's real world counterpart. Reaching the size of around 2 grown men. In the wild giant mantis shrimp can be found in many of the arks oceans, however they are also very territorial amd will defend this territory vigorously, however it will not leave the range of said territory and is a very solitary creature guarding it's nest either by its self or with a mate. Survivors looking to obtain one as a mount must first steal an egg from a nest by either killing the defenders or swiftly swimming with a mount to capture the egg. Though the giant mantis shrimp is a very maneuverable swimmer able to swim in any direction it's speed is slow compared to most ocean denizens though still several times faster than a survivor in scuba. That said the giant mantis shrimp is capable of immense bursts of speed using their massive tails to burst near instantly several meters striking and stunning survivors and tames with their massive clubs on their pincers dismounting riders from their tames. The giants mantis shrimp can only do this a few or more times before requiring resting their tail. Strikes like these can often knockout a creature all together leaving them helpless to the ambush predator. One of the biggest draws to obtaining or killing a giant mantis shrimp are it's eyes, once harvested the giant lenses of the creatures eyes convert ultraviolet and infrared light into visible light making it easy to see in dark or particle obstructed places (exactly like the snow owls predator vision) which must be how the creature is able to survive in dark and murky muddy waters. Once harvested the eyes can be crafted into a visor with chitin and attached to a chitin helmet (only attachable to chitin helmet) once attached if the helmet were to break the visor is destroyed with it as there is no way to fix the lenses once they've broken.(DEVS THE THERMAL VISOR IS THE MAIN DRAW FOR THIS CREATURE DO NOT CHANGE THIS PART WHATEVER YOU DO!!! MAKE IT EXPENSIVE OR REQUIRE SPECIAL RESOURCES TO CRAFT, WHATEVER, JUST DO NOT REMOVE THIS FEATURE!!!) One other reason to tame and breed giant mantis shrimp is for it's shell fragments (like megachelon shell fragments) survivors that breed out specimens with high virility (high health creatures drop more shell fragments, chainsaw works best) can reap the rewards of easy chitin production through slaughtering of the creature and once the shell fragments have been grinded down. This has led survivors nicknaming them "ovis of the sea" referring to their relative rareness and the act of slaughtering them for resources. On land mantis shrimp are near helpless only able to move as fast as a survivor can walk and due to their aquatic nature can only breed underwater yet most survivors prefer to breed giant mantis shrimp rather than hunt them due to their spread out population, the vibrant colors that result from this augment their already very vibrant colors. As a mount the maneuverability giant mantis shrimp brings lend it well to building underwater as the creature does not drift in the water and it's neutral boyancy allows it to move unhindered. Hunting with the mantis shrimp brings benefits against cnyderia as the jellyfish is one of it's main food sources able to harvest great amounts of biotoxin, it also obtains a lot of anglergel from angler fish and easily gathers great amounts of pearls as it's pincer clubs easily crack open the clams that hold these pearls. To a lesser degree the giant mantis shrimp can gather wood and stone and the like with it's powerful claws and clubs making it a serviceable underwater resource gatherer.
  13. Mimetaster is a small marellomorph hailing all the way back to the Devonian. they were likely detritivores and fed on anything they could dig up on the seafloor. There is also evidence that sponges grew on their backs likely giving them a layer of camouflage! Mimetaster fulmen on the other hand, is a giant artificially created species created for the arks. Description These unsightly beasts carry glowing anemones on their back that give off a shock of electricity when provoked, or stimulated manually with excretions from Mimetaster. These electric shocks are used by Mimetaster to defend itself. It can charge up high amounts of electricity by carefully releasing acids from its carapace over a long period of time culminating in a large electric burst or a highly accurate beam. though deadly, the anemones explosive trigger finger can be used against Mimetaster. Shooting the anemones will set them off early reducing Mimetasters charge. thankfully these beasts aren't fighters and would rather flee from attackers, though this also makes them tricky to tame... Slathering Mimetasters anemones with food seems to make it happy and more likely to approach survivors, But be weary. being too careless with the anemones will set them off, shocking you and sending Mimetaster speeding across the seafloor. thankfully once tamed Mimetaster seems to become more bold and will gladly defend their owner with their sharp claws and aforementioned electric shocks. although they don't have the same lethality of a lightning wyverns breath, they can still paralyze even the largest of the arks creatures hindering their movement and allowing your allies to attack. In-game Omnivore. Mimetaster is about the same size class in terms of health as Diplodocus. Slowly gains energy over time and the total capacity can be increased by leveling oxygen which is replaced by charge. Mimetaster loses charge when hit and the amount lost scales with the amount of damage taken. Charge gel can be crafted in its inventory with angler gel. When force fed to Mimetaster it provides a slight buff to its charge regeneration speed. Can also be inserted into batteries and other items that use aberration charge for a bit of fuel. Can be fed to charge pets giving them the same buff as Mimetaster. Anemones have their own color region and will effect the color of Mimetasters electricity attacks. Controls Lmb - Claw slash. Medium damage. Deals basic damage with no special effects Rmb(Held) - Electricity beam. Low damage with high tick rate. Drains Mimetasters charge as long as its held. Can only be used while walking, Climbing, or on the seafloor. Slows down Mimetasters movement significantly. The beam is highly accurate and can be aimed anywhere but turns slowly. Slows enemy dinos (stacks with multiple Mimetaster) and slowly drains tek equipment charge from enemy players/tames. C - Static blast - High damage(damage depends on charge amount). Completely drains Mimetasters charge. Stuns enemies. disables enemy tek usage for a short period of time. Shuts off enemy generators in range(does not penetrate walls). Can be used during any movement type. Shift(Held) - Enables climbing similar to Bloodstalker. Slower than walking on the ground Movement Slow but steady sprinting pace. Not horribly slow but its not gonna win any races. Can strafe and move in any direction similar to Bloodstalker and Enforcers Moderate swimming speed. Can walk on the ocean floor moving at fast speeds. Reconstruction Mimetaster showcasing its walking posture. Additional links Wikipedia article
  14. Chresmoda gigantus is quite possibly the largest pond skater I have ever seen. It is twice as tall as the average survivor, and yet weighs less than half as much. It spends its days skimming peacefully around on the islands many lakes completely oblivious to life around it. But don’t be fooled. Once night sets in, it transforms forms from a gentle giant into a ravenous apex predator as a venomous sting capable of taking down a fully grown tyrannosaurus within a couple of hours, making this a deadly creature to run into in the pitch black darkness of night. Taming a Chresmoda gigantus may seem like an impossible task, but I’ve heard tales of brave survivors managing to passify this colossal hexapod with some special kind of bug repellent, but I have yet to find proof of such a thing existing. I suppose Chresmodas unique ability to travel on water without aggravating predator to its presence could come in handy, as this seemingly frail insect seems to have enough strength to carry a healthy survivor in a basket attached to a specialised saddle. Its ability to fly for short period could also come in useful. But be warned. The very same concoction that is used to passify this behemoth will also cause it to go into a frenzy, making it immune to its masters commands for a short period of time. Yours sincerely, Helena Walker. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chresmoda
  15. (Obviously not my drawing) Species: Woodwardopterus Sagittarius Time: Early Carboniferous-Late Permian Diet: Detritivore Temperament: Defensive Wild: Woodwardopterus Sagittarius are shy small amphibious eurypterids that feed on the underwater detritus on the bottom of the swamps. It is usually not a threat to anything and generally prefers flee rather than fight however if it feels completely cornered it will shoot a silk like substance from its telson (the bulby end part of it’s tail). If the attacker is small enough then there's a good chance it will be webbed while its meal scurries away into some dark hiding spot. Domesticated: Woodwardopterus proves to be a useful addition to any tribes’ collection of tames. Most tribes often have their small eurypterids passively create silk for them. However a few raiding tribes have trained the Woodwardopterus for a strange purpose on the battlefield, these tribes often make Woodwardopterus sit on some of their soldiers’ wrists to act as silk shooting gun! Who came up with this I honestly don’t know and I’d rather keep it that way but this tactic is surprisingly effective at immobilizing targets but not so good at directly killing them. From what I’ve heard there are two firing methods these people have trained their tames for, a shotgun like firing method and an assault rifle method. The shotgun method is better for close range and instantly webs targets while the rifle method has more range but takes time to fully entrap enemies. Technical Stuff: Woodwardopterus spawns in swamp biomes and eats both meat and berries, in order to tame it you must feed it some honey like you would with a liopleurodon then capture it with a fish basket. It passively generates silk in it’s inventory. You pick up the thing like an dung beetle and it will appear resting on your wrist. While picked up by you the Woodwardopterus is capable of shooting silk which can immobilize targets similarly to getting webbed by an Araneo, there are two methods of firing, “shotgun” and “assault rifle”. Shotgun mode fires a point blank web which instantly webs (and deals zero damage to) targets while Assault Rifle mode is a bit more complex, it has a lot more range but doesn’t immediately web targets instead you have to continually shoot at targets to web them. Your creepy little friend doesn’t have an unlimited supply of silk and shoot things with it too much and you wont have anything webbed, it has a new silk stat which replaces it’s melee stat, levelling this stat up allows you to shoot with your Woodwardopterus longer, if you want to change your firing method just go to the selection wheel to change it. You can also put your tame into a turret mode. The Woodwardopterus also can only breed underwater and can only survive on land if its an adult.
  16. Aegirocassis, where to start, aegirocassis is a massive aquatic arthropod, unlike most arthropods of the ARK aegirocassis are somewhat friendly however if provoked it will use it's sharp sides to cause deep wounds. this creature can be passively tamed by being ridden, after a while this creature will overtime gain your trust if ridden long enough, this creature has three stages of trust: Unsure, Cautious, and Assurance, once this creature reaches the trust level assurance you have gotten yourself a aegirocassis, a great aquatic tank that can move surprisingly quick, relatively tough with it's sharp side-blades. this creature while having many pros has it's cons, such as being weaker to larger creatures such as mosasaurus and being incredibly vulnerable to dunkelosteous.

    Arthropluera

    From the album: Dossiers

Common Name: Arthropluera Species: Arthropluera Felsanguis Time: Early Permian Diet: Carrion-Feeder Temperament: Aggressive Wild: The fact that this creature exists is enough to give me nightmares. Like the island's other Arthropods, Arthropluera Felsanguis has become much larger than I might have believed possible. It's a very aggressive hunter, but prefers to eat meat after it has rotted for some time, and will voraciously seek out such delicacies. Arthropleura's blood has a very low pH, to the point that it can dissolve many materials. This acidic blood splashes back on anything that directly attacks it, weakening the durability of weapons and hurting attackers. Many creatures thusly refuse to prey on Arthropleura, fearing this unique defense. If that wasn't enough, Arthropleura also keeps a small reservoir of blood ready to spit at its prey. Domesticated: Like most of the arthropods on the island, Arthropleura is simple minded and relatively easy to tame. It is an almost entirely military mount, useful mostly for attacking at a distance. Thanks to its unique defenses, whether hunting or warring, Arthropleura is generally safe from all but the largest of creatures.
