  1. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! Introducing... Classic PvP Game Mode! Classic PvP is a new competitive player experience for PC players which focuses on the PvP experience from the days of old. This new game mode will be available specifically on our PC PvP network on April 2nd. The Classic PvP servers are a Snail Games initiative to shake up the current PvP meta. To kickstart this initiative, our existing Conquest servers will be repurposed for isolated Classic PvP clusters. Increased rates on these Classic PvP servers will allow tribes to get established fast, and rebuild after potential losses in the event that everything is lost. We are aware that over time content and creatures added to ARK have heavily changed the previous PvP meta, and there are many players who miss that experience. Some of the best battles came from those early PvP days! Because of this, we will be looking to make more changes over the coming months that are tailored for PvP gameplay, including prioritizing inactive servers on the Official PvP Server Network to support this new mode. Classic PvP Breakdown: Experience gain, taming, gathering, breeding, hatching, and raising rates have been doubled compared to our standard Official Servers (2x) Tribes are set to 25 players max Tribe alliances are disabled, though informal alliances are allowed Servers have a maximum player count of 100 There will be 4 servers on each cluster, for a total of >25 Classic clusters Each cluster will consist of The Island, Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, and The Center Server transfers are only enabled between the 4 servers on each cluster Classic PvP servers are unaffected by Evolution Events Tek dinos (Tek Parasaur, Tek Quetzal, Tek Rex, Tek Raptor, Tek Stego), Giga, Paracer, Quetzal, Tapejara, and the Titanosaur are not available on Classic PvP All Aberration and Extinction content is unavailable on Classic PvP Scaling of weapon damage has been reduced We have always been interested in the competitive aspect of ARK and are looking to try fun and exciting things to bring back the best memories of ARK in its early PvP days. As we introduce this new seasonal Classic PvP mode, we'll be looking for your valuable input throughout the duration. As these servers exist to shake up the PvP playstyle, it's possible that they may undergo change and seasonal wipes as the mode matures and we take in more feedback. Server Removal: In order to expand the Classic PvP network, we will be removing some of the inactive PvP servers from our PC network on April 2nd. The Isolated-Ragnarok and Hardcore servers now have one-way transfers enabled so that you can transfer off of your server and preserve your progress if you wish to do so. Please be aware that if you do not move to another server before the April 2nd deadline, you will lose your character, items, and creatures. Below is a list of servers that are up for removal. We look forward to hearing your stories and seeing your adventures on the new Classic PvP game mode servers! Mod Community Updates! Don't forget that April 5th is the last day to submit applications for the sponsorship program for this selection period. Please be sure to get those in! Continuing on from last week, the latest episode of Wildcard Workshop takes our targeting list and puts in the implementation to actually direct our sentry creatures to attack specific targets.   2. The ARK is getting a unique new denizen today: the hip hopping Procoptodon, essentially a gigantic prehistoric Kangaroo. Carrying up to TWO passengers, in a first for ARK creatures, the Procoptodon is able to cover great distances and leap over obstacles with ease, while the pouch-bound passenger is able to make fully effective use of all weaponry while riding! In addition, ARK: Survival Evolved Steam players are invited to ring in 2016 on the ARK! Starting today at 12 PM EST a gigantic New Year’s Eve ball will descend from the heavens through to January 1 at midnight EST. When it finally hits the ground, a fantastic surprise will be revealed for all Survivors who are on their ARK at that time!   7. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! ARK Developer Stream #1 VOD! On March 5th we had our first developer update stream in our new format! Thank you for joining us on Twitch if you were able to do so. In this stream we talked about the Homestead update, the mod program, as well as answered your questions from the Community Crunch and from chat. Going forward we will be continuing to stream when we've got new things to share with you. We won't have a dedicated schedule like we have in the past so stay tuned to the Crunch and our Twitter for information on when those take place. As previously mentioned the major topic of our stream was dedicated to discussing the new Homestead update which includes the integration of Structures Plus and the Kibble rework. We're currently busy hammering away on our bug list so there is not much new information to share with you all this week. We have been very invigorated to see all of the feedback and creations from survivors since the big Homestead patch! We are continuing to take your feedback into consideration regarding upcoming balance change as well as your bug reports, especially those related to the structure and kibble changes. Since the last Crunch we have: Fixed hitching and stalling problem introduced in our recent major update. Upgraded our servers here on SurviveTheARK.com in order to get our forums running at top notch. Quickly patched a major exploit. You'll hear more details in the near future regarding the status of upcoming changes as we work through our task list. Creator Feature - IsisMasshiro! We're expanding our Feature of the Week to include a featured artist rather than just a single piece of work. This week we're featuring IsisMasshiro who's comic-style ARKworks never fail to make us smile. Can you relate to any of these ARK moments? Evolution Event!   9. Hey Survivors! Welcome to the latest edition of the Community Crunch! Homestead Update Tomorrow! It's finally arrived! We're beyond thrilled to be releasing Structure Plus (S+) and the long-awaited kibble rework (now packaged together as 'Homestead') to all of our survivors March 5th 2019! If you can dream it, you can build it! Homestead includes the major elements of Structures Plus (S+), a player created Sponsored Mod by Orionsun. S+ has maintained a large following of users over an extended period of time, and its move to console has long been requested. We are particularly excited to finally be able to share this with our console survivors who will be using it for the very first time. Here are the new building features included in Homestead: Dedicated bulk storage Triangle foundations, ceilings and roof pieces Four high walls Fence supports for level walls Flexible pipes and electrical cables Double doors Swappable variants for ramps/stairs New visual variants for existing structures Along-side the update to structures we also have our kibble rework included in this patch! Previously the Kibble system worked like a tree, the egg of one creature being used in a kibble to tame the next creature in line. Often these kibbles didn’t make sense in terms of game progression and became more redundant with each new creature that was added to the game. Each creature now falls into one of six categories, and that creature’s egg can be used to tame any creature within that specific category. Instead of having 50+ different kibbles all requiring a different specific egg, it is drastically reduced to: Basic, Simple, Regular, Superior, Exceptional, and Extraordinary kibbles! You can expect the Homestead update to hit your respective platform around 10am PST tomorrow starting with PC and concluding with PS4. We invite you to watch our Homestead trailer to see a preview of the variety of structures that are now possible. All of the builds featured in the trailer are player-created and you can find links to how to build the structures in the video description. It has been an amazing experience for us to see our dedicated players create things we could have never imagined! First up we have Additional Lighting by ReinerSCT. This mod adds a plethora of new lighting options of different colors, styles, and configurations. Ever wanted to make your own disco room, or set up a complex lighting system for your over-the-top castle? This mod will let you do it!   11. Speciality servers are alternate game modes for ARK that last for a short period of time. Each new theme will bring on a new set of challenges different from that of servers currently available. However, these seasonal servers will wipe and change theme after a determined period of time. We're looking for input from you Survivors today. We've set up a thread and we'd appreciate if you could drop your suggestions into the separate thread below. Changes will revolve around edits that can be made to the existing config which means modifying ini and server settings. These types of changes can include many things like: tribe/alliance size, anything related to dino stats and taming, server rates, etc. This does not include things like mods. Some examples can include: Solo, no tribes Mammals only No carnivores Small Dinos only Limited Tribe Members/No alliances

Structures Plus (S+) & Kibble Rework Beta Closing! This week is the final week to participate in the open Structures Plus and Kibble Rework beta before the testing period closes to the public. If you have not tried it out and/or given your feedback regarding the changes we invite you to do so! Please check out the post below for all of the information on how you can get involved in play testing this beta. Mod Community Updates! Get your mods ready, sponsorship program applications open again on Friday! We will also be announcing a couple of new sponsored projects next week! We're making some adjustments to what has been our focus for sponsored projects. Going forward we will be looking at more small scope projects as well, instead of only the large scope projects like we have been up to this point. A result of this adjustment is that you will begin to see more projects with shorter-term sponsorship's making their way into the program and, by proxy, a somewhat higher rotation rate leading to more opportunities. We want to encourage everyone, no matter the scale of your projects, to apply for sponsorship during each application period. S+ has maintained a large following of users over an extended period of time, and its move to console has long been requested. We are particularly excited to finally be able to share this with our console survivors who will be using it for the very first time. Here are the new building features included in Homestead: Dedicated bulk storage Triangle foundations, ceilings and roof pieces Four high walls Fence supports for level walls Flexible pipes and electrical cables Double doors Swappable variants for ramps/stairs New visual variants for existing structures Along-side the update to structures we also have our kibble rework included in this patch! Previously the Kibble system worked like a tree, the egg of one creature being used in a kibble to tame the next creature in line. Often these kibbles didn’t make sense in terms of game progression and became more redundant with each new creature that was added to the game. Each creature now falls into one of six categories, and that creature’s egg can be used to tame any creature within that specific category. Instead of having 50+ different kibbles all requiring a different specific egg, it is drastically reduced to: Basic, Simple, Regular, Superior, Exceptional, and Extraordinary kibbles! You can expect the Homestead update to hit your respective platform around 10am PST tomorrow starting with PC and concluding with PS4.   17. Hey Xbox Survivors, I have some bad news that I am sadden to have to share tonight. Upon the v735 Xbox patch update, it was made aware to us that The Center single player, non-dedicated, and player dedicated saved data on Xbox was no longer accessible. Until we are able to get a patch approved, single-player save data will remain inaccessible and new single-player data will not save any time you close the game. However, we think it is likely that when this is patched you will be able to gain access your single-player saves again. They are currently inaccessible as the file path to load the save data is incorrect. However, the same is unlikely for player dedicated servers. For you this is unfortunately a one-time wipe for all player dedicated servers, as much as we wish this were not the case. We will be looking into this to see if there are any other options, and are investing resources into any and all attempts to counteract this. New saved data on player dedicated servers will save properly. To be clear: single player and local data should be retrievable once a patch is pushed early next week (aim is Monday) but player dedicated servers will likely not be recoverable. This is a disappointing set back for us and to all of you as well, and it really sucks and we're very sorry that it happened.   19. Structures Plus (S+) & Kibble Rework Beta! It is finally here! This is the first time we've done a public beta branch for ARK, so here is a lengthy but necessary introduction. As a quick starting note: Before accessing a beta branch you should create a backup of any single player games, characters, or server files that you may have for ARK to prevent any corruption or loss of player data from occurring. When you’re done playing with the beta you’ll need to navigate back to the branch selection dialogue and opt-out of the beta (choose NONE). You cannot access your official server while on the beta because they are not the same version. Depending on your internet connection this process could take some time so if you’re doing anything time sensitive on your official server, be cautious of swapping! How to access the beta: From your Steam games library, right-click on ARK: Survival Evolved and choose Properties. From this new window you’ll click on BETAS at the top. Here is where you’ll swap between the beta version and the live version of the game. Choose the beta called qolbeta_public from the drop down list and then close the Properties window once the window says it has successfully accessed the beta. Your Steam client will begin to download the beta (at the time of this post, v290.103). Depending on your internet connection this process could take some time. You can tell you are successfully on the beta when [qolbeta_public] appears next to ARK: Survival Evolved on your Steam games list. Servers for testing: We've set up two servers with 10x rates on the beta branch for those of you who would like to test out the S+/kibble changes if you'd rather test in a more traditional environment: Official Server: WildcardTesting Unofficial Server: WildcardQA Providing feedback: In order for us to effectively analyze feedback from beta users we have set up two separate threads, one for Structures Plus related feedback and one for the Kibble changes. Further notes: If you have a single player or unofficial save file it is worth loading it up on the beta and checking if there are any obvious bugs or compatibility issues. Beginning tomorrow, February 12th until February 18th, love will fill the air as we celebrate Valentine's Day! The ARK will be placed under Cupid's loving spell. With this event, creatures have also been affected by Cupid's spell in the following ways: Red, Pink, and White colored wild creatures can be found wandering the ARKs searching for true loves kiss. When mating, creatures have a 25% chance to drop an item. That item has a 50/50 chance to be one of the following: Valentines Chocolate: Restores full HP, or knocks 40% off a creatures taming bar. Valentines Candy: Gives your tame random dino colors when eaten. All servers official and unofficial will also experience the following bonuses (auto-activated or can be toggled manually by running ActiveEvent=vday): Mate Boosted range increased by 2x Mating Speed and Mating Recovery increased by 3x Creature Maturing and Egg Incubation speed has been increased by 3x Baby Food Consumption has been decreased by 1/3 Survivors also have the opportunity to send out their own customs Valentine's Day card to their loved ones.
