  1. I feel like that'd take a ton of work to pull off since you'd have to hold a vote for every ability. With how bastion was before the OP more or less got harangued into finally scaling it back down to something closer to its original concept I can't even begin to fathom that headache. Then there's the issue of people intentionally voting to make things crazy overpowered unless they leave out the more game breaking abilities in the vote
  2. Which console you on? In PS4 I see them in nests, albeit at a lower rate.
  3. Honestly after it was handled this time about the moa would be preferable. Even if I myself can't use it. At this point it and gorgon's submitters should've taken a page from the bison's book and just opted out.
  4. Because adding more than one is invalidating the nature of the vote. They were smart to not do it for vote 3, hopefully they don't do it now too.
  5. I've not kept entirely up to date with the modding scene, is it safe to assume come ASA all ASE mods will get the unplug treatment?
  6. Everything ends, such is nature of being. The timing between the end of official and ASA definitely could've been better though. A week before or after the announcement of the closure might've been received better. Then again maybe not. Maybe ripping off the bandaid quickly was a more strategic idea. As it is now we'll never know. Although we should also acknowledge the fact that at least a chunk of the people that made ASE official hell will just as likely move to ASA and repeat their chicanery all over again. I've said it in the past but it bears repeating that they'll have a leg up on the newer players because they'll know exactly what progress to rush, where to go, and what to breed to reclaim their grasp on domination in the game. Tyrants rarely relinquish power willingly, rarer still are the ones that will accept their loses and change for the better. The catharsis you have about them losing power will be fleeting, instead you should find catharsis in knowing they'll be wrestling each other in the dirt like animals for at least a week or two until a winner is declared.
  7. Now I know I should be quoting more than this but it just gave me flashbacks to people hyping up 2077 because "le ebin Keanu wholesome chungus" memes and puked a little in my mouth at the thought of a repeat of this happening. I have taken psychic damage and will be billing you my psychiatric fees for this. Moving on from that hell though, I know full well people will buy buy buy because they either genuinely have hope and love for the series or are rabid fans with no sense of taste as long as it's from something they like. I also know companies aren't about being friends to the consumer, they're merchants and we the buyers. I just also think people deserve to know that if they want to stay on official log term then the time and money they put into ASE wont amount to anything other than training for ASA. No free remaster as that's absolutely inspid, no taking ASE off shelves because tsotf, single player, and unofficial still work. The community is toxic to its core yes, but I'm of the opinion that even the vile reprobates among the good players deserve a warning when there's a fire on the horizon. Whether or not they heed it is on them.
  8. I've stated I'm aware of that. If you scroll through the comments you'll see my statements on the matter. The issue I had was the introduction of additional ideas meant to sway votes as opposed to letting the creature stand on its own. A majority of people have not yet grasped that ideas aren't part of the package and vote for those.
  9. Even if it's nice to see more avians make it in you shouldn't be too quick to claim victory. Everyone thought last vote came down to gorgonopsid and bastion and yet rhynio swooped in to claim the prize. Things are never set in stone.
  10. My reasoning for lumping them stems from the fact that whether they agree with the decision or are under orders from snail and contractually obligated to comply wildcard still hasn't spoken up on the shutdown in the place guaranteed to reach the widest audience. Willing or unwilling they play a role all the same and unfortunately have to share in the vitriol as they do the profit. I still feel as though a notice should be made in their most public platform- their game- for the sake of their consumer base. While it's certainly the more business savvy idea to stay quiet on the matter it's also a risky gamble due to the fact that the prospective consumer may see it in an unfavorable light. If the disgruntled consumer discusses this in a public setting then word of other problems with snail/wildcard/ark could pop up and suddenly they're not only turned off of future products but information that damages the company gets passed along to other would be buyers. All the while the company is still in a somewhat tenuous position with a lot riding on a future project (Ark 2). In the end whether being transparent or remaining silent they stand to take a financial hit, its the nature of business. However transparency could at least lower some hackles and slow the spread of dissent. Ultimately as someone that plays unofficial and has no interest in dropping money on a next gen console none of this affects me (yet), so I gain nothing from this and have no desire to. I just find the handling of the situation and how it impacts people pretty sloppy and distasteful. If only because I've always been a man that values honesty. The fact that I enjoy stoking the fire to watch sparks fly also plays a role, but my intentions are largely altruistic.
  11. Be honest bruv, you and me both have sat through three different creature votes and are 3/4ths through a 4th and have seen how entitled folk get for those, let alone the until now adamant demands for evos. With regards to ASA and everything surrounding it though if I might play devils advocate, those demanding that a public notice in game about goings on are pretty spot on in asking for it. It lets people who just purchased the game and have the ability to play ASA return the game and simply wait rather than spending time and money on essentially the same product twice. I'm pretty neutral regarding the selling of the remaster at this point (minus some gripes about the price point, but honestly at this point I fuss over modern game prices as a whole anyway so eh.) as remastered games aren't ever free, but this entire situation was handled poorly and wild card and snail games should be made aware of that.
  12. No one's spitting on the beetle. As ashgcy pointed out the issue was the sheer amount of bloat in the latest iteration's dossier. The maip and more specifically the "stupid moa" introduced fresh and balanced ideas. Moa in particular also brought in some nice pve aspects that were sorely needed for its particular map, especially after the last three winners all had abilities geared more for pvp.
  13. They threw us a bone once before when they did with desmodus' abilities (granted most of the abilities that were suggested that made it in were common sense things one would expect from a bat like echolocation) so I can sorta kinda see where some people may have expected some things to be introduced. However after dinopithecus was introduced in the very beginning people really should know by now not to expect things to make it in from a suggestion.
  14. It really does suck doesn't it? Why are they leaving it to the players to do this for them? Is the few quick bucks really worth it? Worst part is I can totally see snail getting them to say "well we did tell people! You just had to look out our websites and social media that most of you never cared about!"
  15. This. Scummy as it is they're technically legally in the right as other features and modes work. Morally however I find it repugnant that they haven't at least put up an in game notice seeing as most of their players likely don't follow them on twitter or use StA to see these updates
  16. It's a standard business tactic. Dangle a shiny in the customer's face to hopefully distract them while trying to gloss over a genuine issue. Unfortunately for wildcard and snail they've wronged the consumer base so frequently that there simply aren't enough shinies in the world to distract from their faults. Now it's more like dangling a half eaten chicken wing in front of a starving lion while wearing a suit made of prime rib. Watching them get eaten alive by the playerbase that's woken up to their crap after trying so hard to still love them in spite of it is like the sweetest wine.
  17. I ain't beggin them for a damn thing. I'm just getting me a good seat and some hotdogs to roast as I watch them douse themselves in gasoline and prepare to light a match. Find catharsis in their inevitable failure, it's all we can do now.
  18. Happens to the best of us, my bad if I came off a bit too strong. The older one gets the more grumpy they get it seems.
  19. >Been holding my tongue. >Been Thats called past tense. I like every other sentient being can change my actions going forward from a point in the past. I have no real stake in this as I wouldn't get to use the winning creature anyway so I'm not bothering with the vote, simply airing my thoughts on creatures that catch my attention. If it seems a bit too harsh then too bad. I'm past the point of sugar coating when cutting to the quick gets more results. You made bad suggestions for the sake of attention, I called them bad. Simple as. You want a suggestion beyond the obvious "just repost the old dossier"? Fine. It's a beetle, a beetle's primary defense tends to be how tanky they are. Give it the ability hunker down and hide the player beneath its wing sheathes when unsaddled for bonus defense at the cost of movement speed. Give it the ability to collect sap from cacti and trees since beetles will happily eat the stuff for the sugars. Speaking of eating, beetles like fermented fruits and yeasts. Know what has a close approximation to those in game? Beer. Feed them beer, they get a melee damage boost at the cost of stamina. Give them the ability to produce fertilizer like dung beetles at half the speed but double the amount. Remove the carry ability from females and leave it to the males, instead females have greater mobility and the ability to drop a pheromone bomb that works like dropping honey to attract males nearby. The scent lingers on the female for a set time and the males will follow her anywhere they can for easy trapping. Remove the jet plane based saddle ideas like the thrusters or ejector seat and instead install a mounted tranquilizer that only works when you have something grabbed so you can tranquilize whatever the male grabs like you would with a karkinos. Make it so the beetle doesn't pull a kark or meg and start trying to murder whatever it grabs if you have to dismount. Balanced abilities, that's what your suggestion lacked. Have you not noticed that the moa is significantly toned down in comparison to the beetle's newest iteration and yet dominating the leaderboard? There are currently morepeople that have had enough of over the top stuff than there are people that want more.
  20. Filing a false report won't help, bruv. If anything it could land you in trouble depending on the rules regarding reports.
  21. Someone appears upset that their attempt to get more support by dangling the better ideas was called out it seems. What you put in were ideas that a middle schooler would come up with if told to design a creature. Nothing you added "fits" scorched earth barring burrowing which is itself not an exclusively useful to SE trait. Cry more.
  22. Really man? Bartering likes to switch the idea back to the actually good concept? I'll just rip the bandage off so you stop prolonging it. Compared to the original post jack made the ideas you've given both overcrowd the creature and are, frankly, pretty bad for balance. It's essentially trying to draw in attention by making it super over the top, if it you did eventually have to acknowledge that wildcard will likely drop most if not all of the proposed ideas the fact is you still left them in and then proposed ever so slightly less crazy ideas as an alternative. You threw everything but the kitchen sink at the concept and now that people are explaining why that's a bad thing you're trying to squeeze out votes/likes for it in order for you to change it to what worked before.
  23. Despite not being able to enjoy this creature it has my interest, if only because it adds to the severely lacking avian diversity. Seriously ark, only four actual birds? C'mon. All that's needed now is the haast eagle.
  24. I mean let's be real, that's going to happen eventually anyway. The experience can never truly be fair because in the end there will be two classes of player: the experienced and the inexperienced. Unless they change everything from the ground up then yhe ones that know what to do will rush their progress and eventually obliterate the ones that are still getting their first steps in.
