You may wanna reconsider building in a cave. If memory serves, structures in caves actually take more damage for some reason
-
That could theoretically go awry too unless handled properly. Some platforms like steam have a policy that allows you to return a game if under a certain amount of hours has been played. Someone could just open an account, download the game, vote, then get a refund. It sounds ludicrous sure, but there are people with tons of bot accounts for things like TF2.

The desmodus I sorta saw coming out on top at the time. It had more potential as a mount and certain useful abilities like echolocation (because cmon it's a giant bat) were all but assured regardless of suggestions being dropped. Plus carchara was just utterly boring because it was so similar to things we've seen a bunch of times before. With this vote I felt Rhynio had the potential to get up there as a three time competitor but between the beetle and gorgon going at it, the bison being another three time competitor with support, and the influx of outside votes for the lion, it was honestly not looking good for the Rhynio. Color me corrected and surprised.

The key word there was "most". Things like crystal isles and crystal wyverns made it as official yes but on the other side of things you have the acro and deinosuchus whom, if memory serves, stayed mods because that was the wish of the mod maker when they were brought up for the very first vote. As to your other point: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bison_latifrons https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acinonyx_pardinensis Yes, they were. Google is a powerful tool. If you wish to quibble about their names do keep in mind that the species names of the creatures of the ark do not line up 1 to 1 with real world counterparts (i.e. Tyrannosaurus dominium, Utah raptor prime, spinosaurus aquareliga) Regarding the haast eagle I've not heard that name used for it before. A cursory glance here: https://nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/haasts-eagle lists common names. Regarding the maori, Pouakai translates to "old glutton" where as hōkioi (better know as Te Hōkioi) doesn't seem to have a translation that I've found and seems to function more akin to a name.

It's generally agreed upon that most mod creatures remain just that: mod creatures. Unless wildcard is willing to shell out the cash to pay for the rights to use them it would basically be stealing the works of others for their profit. As far as your suggestion is concerned, it wasn't ever brought up in the vote, even if it were it would've been disqualified as it's not a real world prehistoric creature. The closest you'd have to it would be the haast eagle which while submitted received very little support.

Hoping for gorgon but I wouldn't mind the beetle, bison, or goat making it. They've definitely given a good push as time has gone on, especially in the case of the beetle seeing as gorgon was winning pretty handily till a few days ago. In truth the only creature I flat out wouldn't care for taking the win would be the lion. As satisfying as the meltdown to follow would be to watch, I'd prefer a creature both not surrounded by controversy and that I'd actually want to use making it.

I'm thinking one head for the boss given Quetzalcoatl isn't typically depicted with multiple heads. A giant serpent with wings a "crown" of feathers is about the standard depiction if you can manage to make a model in game. Easiest way to go about that may be to use the basilisk model scaled up in size and add argentavis wings and drake plumes, though it would need some tweaks to look decent. The xibalba addition definitely has some weight to it as it encourages cave exploration with or without the mini boss requirement. The lead up to the boss fight while thematically quite nice in theory may drag a bit long for a non story map. Perhaps spawning in the center of some ruins and having the serpent drop in from the sky and screech at the player should be sufficient .

Sure thing. Well I mentioned the xibalba thing already: cave network leading to an underground biome, preferably one more volcanic in nature given xibalba's nature as the underworld/hell. I'd also suggest having drakes and deinonychus on the map given their feathered serpent aesthetic aligning quite nicely with Aztec imagery. If it can be done then having temples dedicated to specific creatures in alignment with cultural beliefs (I.e. Drake temple for feathered serpents, saber temple as a jaguar expy, desmodus/onyc temple for the bats) would be a nice move as well. While smaller tamable quetzals are good I would suggest a big one as a boss that requires exclusively giga hearts as a tribute would probably be pretty snazzy too since they were all about carving out people's hearts back then. If this is meant to be a Aztec deal then it would also be based on central and South American topography, so rather than a giant ocean or lake you'd take more after the Amazon and have a bunch of interconnecting rivers as the sources of water.

Honestly if we do get a new map I'd prefer we move away from the Nordic (or European in general really) themes. Having three maps that feature them would just get a bit stale. I'd much rather doubling down on the Aztec/mayan/Incan themes we got a hint of in lost island. Full jungle style map, lots of those funky ruins and pyramids with a few structures around them that allow for building.
-
Sorry to say lad but I don't think we'll be getting another map unless Ark2 suffers some absolutely ludicrous delays. I'm not talking talking the usual wildcard delays either, I'm talking Cyberpunk 2077 levels of delay. Multiple creatures popping up is however a possibility seeing as they've done it twice now.
-
Just gonna point it out to stir the pot a bit for my amusement. Anyone here remember when the carchara got added despite losing twice and a few souls pointing out adding it anyway would make people demand a loser be added anyway since ark already invalidated the votes once? Yeeeah we're starting to see signs of that now in the new submissions. Reap what ya sow wildcard. Prepare for pandemonium.

That would require the complainers have a grasp of the world beyond their videogame as well as the empathy and maturity to understand that they while they live a plush and easy enough life to afford to be able to whine about something so small, the people these donations go to don't have such a luxury. -

Just added Carchar to the game. Guess they were going for the Scorched earth approach to it then. Would've preferred they mention it in the announcement page though, would've given me a chance to mentally prepare for all of the players in my servers going cherry flavored apesh!t trying to find one after I got back from a double shift and a meeting. -

Given how close we are to the end of the year and the sequel's (presumed) release it's honestly up in the air. Now I'm not one to make a definitive declaration on the matter but I feel we've reached the point where wildcard kind of just wants to wash their hands of the first Ark so they can streamline shuffling resources to Ark2 -
Imagine assuming that's what I'm doing considering my first statement was pointing out I have tattoos. Im sure this is a novel concept for you, but it's an interesting fact that you can actually call something stupid without it being you trying to tell people how to live their lives. Furthermore I also said "to each their own", implying it's not my place to decide what they do. Doesn't mean I'm not allowed to speak my piece though.
