Deinocheirus - the Duck-billed Giant Claw - Peace or Fury (WITHDRAWN)

Suggestion

I HAVE DECIDED TO WITHDRAW DEINOCHEIRUS

As you may or may not know, the mod creator Garuga has been working hard on an amazing new Deinocheirus mod for ARK Additions, and it is planned to be ported to ASA and Consol. After careful consideration, I decided it was best to withdraw thus Deinocheirus. However, if you liked the concept, you can support the mod and maybe the creator will implement these ideas if they are popular enough.

Also, I would like to remind you that this if someone makes a similar mistake in the future, please let them know politely and respectably. Spreading down-votes and negativity in the comments isn't a very respectable method, so just keep it cool guys. Mistakes are how we humans learn. Unless your Clyde the Chat gpt. 😂

I plan to submit new ideas for Extinction, so stay tuned for that! Good day, survivors!

-

Greetings, survivors! I have always dreamed of seeing some of my favorite creatures in our favorite game, ARK. So, I designed the Deinocheirus plantapax, a submission I planned for the non-canon maps of ARK.

The Deinocheirus is a plant specialist and fighter. While the common Deinocheirus can make use of trees and bushes, the Furious have the damage and power to hit hard and kill enemies. This creature is designed so you make use of the common and Furious’ attributes to accomplish outstanding feats.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you all move around our wonderful map, The Center, on the backs of giant clawed geese.

Now we present, the Duck-billed Giant Claw, Deinocheirus…

Artwork. Thanks to Interstellarpool176 for the amazing Deinocheirus illustration! Thanks to Rebecca Groom for the Furious Deinocheirus illustration!

Common name: DEINOCHEIRUS

Species: Deinocheirus plantapax

Time: Late Cretaceous

Diet: Herbivore

Temperament: Temperamental (fury)

Wild.

Although a peaceful grazer, Deinocheirus would probably be the mightiest theropod on the in the absence of the carcharodontosaurs. Bearing a shaggy coat of feathers, long arms, and a “duck bill”, this ornithomimosaur is also perhaps the oddest-looking dinosaur.

While most are peaceful, some Deinocheirus have raging tendencies and aggressively attack other animals almost like they are predators.

The diet of this theropod differs slightly from other plat-eaters. They have adapted to feeding on the thick fiber of native plants.

Domesticated.

There’s little a Deinocheirus enjoys more than a good scratch to rid itself of the biting flies that infest their coats.

A tree is the ideal tool for this, and while scratching, Deinocheirus calms enough for survivors to befriend one and even ally with it.

Aggressive Deinocheirus do not scratch. Perhaps they are too furious to notice the plague of flies biting them. Or perhaps it’s the insects that make them so furious.

In The Wild. Deinocheirus will spawn in around rivers, larger Underworld areas, and the edges of the redwoods, but more rarely in the latter. They will also spawn in the swamp surrounding The Center (the floating island). They spawn solo.

They normally are peaceful herbivores, only attacking if provoked (usually by the contemporary Spino). However, Deinocheirus has a 25% chance of spawning Furious. See below for more on Furious Deinocheirus. Spinos, Rexes, and Baryonyx will attack Deinocheirus, and since Deinocheirus spawns in rivers, there is often a Spino nearby. If attacked, Deinocheirus will retaliate with Rex-tier power, usually killing Baryonyx and most Spinos.

Furious. Furious Deinocheirus are Deinocheirus that happen to spawn in a furious mood. They will aggro and attack other creatures much like the contemporary Spino. They are still herbivores, however, so they will not harvest corpses they kill. Furious Deinocheirus differ greatly from “normal” variants. They spawn with different stats (more health and damage), but as a consequence lose some of the specialized abilities that its “normal” variant can do. Unless shown otherwise, any features or abilities in this submission apply only to the “normal” Deinocheirus.

You can identify a Furious Deinocheirus by its glowing red eyes, or just observe it in the wild to see if it is aggressive. Or simply look at its name (use a spyglass for your safety), which should say “Furious Deinocheirus”.

Taming + Food. The taming of Deinocheirus works like a basic passive tame, but with a twist. The Deinocheirus can be fed only while it is scratching against a tree.

So, can this be done? Well as they are temperamental, you can approach one normally (just don’t attack them – this is for you survivors who are careless with your fists). If you walk directly up to a wild Deinocheirus (as close as you would to feed a creature, and on foot), they will take interest in you and follow you around like a Diplo or Ichthyosaurus. If one is interested in you, nearby Deinocheirus will not automatically gain interest, unless you walk up to them too. While they have interest in you, you must lead them up to a tree (of any kind) and punch the tree. If you punch a tree while a wild Deinocheirus is following you, the Deinocheirus will move up to the tree and scratch against the tree for around 10 seconds, a process that destroys the tree after finishing.

While it is scratching, you can only then feed it by pressing [E] with its taming food in your last hot bar slot. After scratching, it will lose interest in you until hungry again. Once it is hungry, draw its attention again by moving up to it, then repeat the process to continue taming it. If you don’t feed the Deinocheirus while it is scratching, it will still lose interest, but since it would still be hungry, you can immediately draw its attention again and simply lead it to a different tree for feeding.

Slide5-min.PNG.34b9353b52f1aed268b27c7a54223491.PNG

Furious Taming. Furious Deinocheirus require a different method to tame. Because they will become furious at you if you approach them (and probably murder you), they require a conventional knock-out taming method. You can trap them, use darts, whatever. Just knock them unconscious and feed them taming food as normal. Be careful, though…

Food. Deinocheirus, including Furious ones, are herbivores and will eat the same food as any other herbivore. However, they can also eat fiber. Fiber consumed by a Deinocheirus gives 10 food to them.

When taming a Furious or “normal” Deinocheirus, these are the usable taming foods, most to least effective:

·       Superior Kibble

·       Crops

·       Fiber

·       Mejoberries

·       Other berries

1170063873_Slide1-min(1).PNG.41431c2df837feef930b4e8e7fd40ca5.PNG

Stats + Breeding. Potential base stats for Deinocheirus:

Health: 980, or 1400 for Furious

Stamina: 420

Oxygen: 210

Food: 2890

Weight: 490

Movement Speed: Around the same land speed as a Therizinosaur. In the water, they can move a little faster than a Rex.

Torpidity: 1600

Breeding the Furious. You cannot breed two furious Deinocheirus. To get a Furious offspring, you must breed a Furious Deinocheirus with a “normal” one (gender does not matter). If you breed a “normal” and a Furious, the offspring has a 50% chance of being Furious. Because Furious have higher health, a Furious baby will automatically inherit the health stat from its Furious parent. Likewise, if a Furious and a “normal” parents produce a “normal offspring”, the baby will automatically inherit the health stat from its “normal” parent. If you breed two “normal” Deinocheirus, the offspring will inherit random stats as usual.

As you will find, the “normal” and Furious are designed to support each other. You need the Furious for heavy hits, and the “normal” to breed and support the Furious in battle. These two moods work together to accomplish great feats.

Appearance. The Deinocheirus is a little taller than a Tyrannosaurus. It has a noticeable shaggy coat of primitive feathers, very long arms, and grasping hands with relatively long claws (but not longer claws than Theri). Furious Deinocheirus can be identified by a permanent red glow in their eyes.

Egg Color. The eggs of Deinocheirus are dark green with yellow spots. Furious eggs in fact look different, helping survivors to identify the contents ahead of time, they have red instead of yellow spots. Non-fertile eggs just have yellow spots, regardless of the layer.

Attacks/Abilities.

Primary Attack [left click]: The primary attack of the Deinocheirus is a massive swipe with both arms. This attack harvests wood, thatch, and any special resources from trees efficiently, as well as berries (no fiber) from bushes. Furious gather with less efficiency. The base damage is 58, or 70 for a Furious.

Secondary Attack [right click]: [Right click] performs a fine gathering move. This attack doesn’t deal damage and involves the Deinocheirus using beak and claws to gather fine resources. This gathers fiber extremely efficiently from bushes. The Deinocheirus in fact can gather fiber more efficiently than any other dinosaur. Furious can use this attack but gather fiber far less efficiently.

Tree Scratch: “Normal” Deinocheirus can press [C] to perform this ability while next to a standard tree. The Deinocheirus will scratch its body against the tree (tree gets destroyed) and activate a buff of pure power. After scratching, this buff activates and stays active for 30 minutes. Each 10 seconds while buff is active, the Deinocheirus automatically consumes 10 fiber (fiber does not give food when burnt up this way) to keep buff active; if it runs of fiber early, the buff ends early.

The effects of the buff:

·       The Deinocheirus itself gains a 20% buff to movement speed and damage resistance.

·       Other allied creatures within a range also gain effect from this buff, gaining a 16% buff to melee damage and movement speed, and a 20% buff to damage resistance.

·       Allied Furious Deinocheirus within range gain a 45% buff to melee damage and damage resistance.

After the buff ends (after 30 min or runs out of fiber), this ability cannot be used for the next 24 hours (in game). Only tames can use this ability.

Slide4-min.PNG.75b5497e937d47c4a910fe030bfe2008.PNG

Tree Grab: Furious Deinocheirus only can press [C] to “harvest” a branch from any tree (only one can be held at a time), destroying the tree. The branch is held in its arms like a Chalicothere’s rock/poop. While a tree is held, you can [left click] to simply harvest the branch (gaining the same resources as you would’ve gotten from the tree).

Or you can [right click] to throw the branch, much like a Chalicothere throws a rock. When the branch impacts, its damages and stuns creatures within range of the impact (same impact range as a grenade). Base damage is 75 and targets are also stunned. This works on bosses. The damage of a thrown log increases with melee levels, and it does not do extra damage to structures.

If a Deinocheirus grabs a tree, and then the survivor dismounts, the Deinocheirus will continue holding the branch. It will hold it until either a survivor mounts and throws/harvests the branch, or the Deinocheirus aggros onto an enemy. If it does, it will throw the branch at that enemy and then start attacking as normal.

Only tames can use this ability.

49555827_Slide3-min(2).PNG.b0e2c8dc4cb7b22a0bd92e8d855763f2.PNG

Saddle. The Deinocheirus requires a saddle to ride. Deinocheirus Saddle is an engram unlockable at level 74 and costs 500 Fiber, 280 Hide, and 45 metal ingots. Must be crafted in a Smithy.

The Deinocheirus will hopefully serve multiple purposes on The Center. They can enter the largest caves and become very effective, especially the Furious, in reaching their artifacts. If you combine the buff from a common Deinocheirus with the strength of a Furious, you can combat the bosses of this map with great efficiency.

Please remember that any submission that makes it to the game is subject to change from Studio Wildcard.

Now, I’m sure you all have your own thoughts and ideas on Deinocheirus! Please share below. I would love to hear what the community thinks about this!

Scrapped abilities:

A few abilities I had decided on originally had to be scrapped due to being to, well... bizarre. But who knows? Maybe Wildcard will want to implement them.

* The ability to pick up trees and deposit them into large crop plots. Thatch and wood could be collected from the crop plots.

* The ability to craft fertilizer and re-fertilizer via inventory by using fiber and feces.

Just get the ARK ADDITIONS mod, it's coming to ASA once the developer gets a hold of the tools

Yes but this is still a very different design. It's meant to be more unique than the modded Deinocheirus. And besides, Deinocheirus isn't in ARK Additions. It's from Additional Creatures 2: Wild ARK, the same mod as Fasolasuchus.

Deinocheirus

·       The clicks of the deinocheirus are one of the most terrifying things you could ever hear, just like the shoebill stork, they click their bill together creating a loud echoing sound that sends shivers through anyone’s spines.

·       They are a large herbivorous dinosaur, around the size of a spino lurking in rivers and swampy areas

·       They have a habit of storing globs of mud in their bills and spitting them out at nearby enemies slowing them down in the process, adobe bricks can be used from their inventory to increase damage.

·       Being such a large bulky creature, it harbours a significant amount of health at the cost of speed.

·       Its thick fur allows it to take less damage from attacks and even less from projectiles.

·       It could have a water buff like the spino, as they lived near swamps and damp places.

·       Their long claws allow them to catch fish by dipping them in shallow rivers and putting them in fish baskets in their inventory.

·       In PVP it will have increased damage to structures and be useful for base raids.

Attacks:

1)     Bite: a pretty standard attack that can harvest berries from bushes, wood from trees and hide from bodies

2)     Claw swipe: a more brutal attack that causes bleed, can harvest fibre, thatch, and meat.

3)     Tail slam: an extremely powerful attack that knocks targets back far (based on drag weight)

4)     Bill clicks: a roar type ability where the dino will its bill together multiple times creating a loud and terrifying click sound, purely cosmetic.

Common name : Deinocheirus

Species : Deinocheirus paludosusgrandisanas

Time : Late Cretaceous

Diet : hervibore

Temperament : neutral

1307142889_.png.9f5161670e74353ea2b250de9c168f9a.png

Wild

This creature might look like a hybrid between spinosaurus and Therizinosaurus caused by Ark but htat's not true. Despite of the dull looking face, deinocheirus is a powerful defender guarding the certain area. If you just approach them roaming around the shallow water, you'll face the same fate of those rokkie predators dared to challenge them.

Tamed

If you succeed to tame a Deinocheirus, It will be a perfect companion through your adventure with tremendous help for survival. Their hard and thick claws will dedicate to your tribe's development by getting diverse resources efficiently. Also as in wild, the Deinocheirus's territorial behavior will help you smash your enemies fast by protecting your ally's base.

You gonna use the Deinocheirus's characteristic if you want to tame one. They urge to kill the very first thing trespassing their territory more than others so you're gonna need a decoy to distract them from knocking them down. According to the people with experiences, they tend to be more hare to deal with in their territory so I recomand you to lure them out of there before taming.

The goal of idea

First reason is want to see Deinocheirus in ark. Even before I heard that Deinocheirus added to Ark additions mod, I want to see it in ark like another dinosaur game.

Second reason is the mod is mod. Some people think if you want to see mod creature, can say just install mod. Also ASA will support cross platforms and we will be able to enjoy mods in Epic and Console. But someone may not be able to enjoy mods for reasons such as disk volume or spec(also, not sure cross platform added in ASA cuz studio wildcard's moves make me incredible.)

Last reason is more species in ark. Everyone knows more diverse creature makes more option and fun when you have in the same situation. For example, if we want bleeding dino, we can choose deino, carno, thyla, allos. But almost case, our option is limited and use high teir carnivore creature,  so if deinocheirus added, our choice are increased.

Ability

1. LMB

basic attack use front legs(1 time 2 hit. ignore armor fixed rate like therizino)

2. RMB

Deinocheirus charges energy shortly and strike enemy strongly. this attack make stunned(cant act anything).

3. C

Deinocheirus spread arms and body. This act make deinocheirus is more bigger and makes fear under deinocheirus's size creature.

4. Ctrl

When press Ctrl buttom, you can set region(center is deinocheirus and make circle.) In this region, Deinocheirus get 'Gaurdian' buff, this buff make increase attack damage 30%, decreased received damage 40%, increase patience 50%.

5. Special ability

Deinocheirus can harvest several resource high efficiency and possible enhance like moschops. (Deinocheirus's thick claws make possible harvest these resources.)

list of resource

Obsidian

Organic polymer

meat(all kind)

black pearl

Slica pearl

Crystal

How to tame

you can get aggro to use scapegoat put them in wild Deinocheirus's region. This situation make Deinocheirus ignore everything before remove intruder and you can stuuned safely.

Also, wild deinocheirus have 'Gaurdian' buff in their region, so recommand lure it and make it get out of it's region.

just my idea.

Bruh Fasolasuchus and Gigantoraptor were also in mods. And besides, this is very different from the modded version.

Neither of those  mods took MONTHS to design their models, nor was anything stated if the owners of said mods were going to port over to the new game.  AA on the other hand, has been confirmed that it will port over, so you can't justify your request or make the same comparison.

so what you’re saying is because this dinosaur was featured in a mod that *might* be carried over means we are not allowed to suggest our own, most accurate versions? that is ridiculous. we get to suggest whatever want regardless of some fancy mod that half the time doesn’t even get the dinosaurs right. seriously, the AA deinocherius is an utter disaster and what we want is the actual animal

It's been planned for ARK Additions, it's just on hold until ASA drops and the developer gets a hold of the mod tools. Wild ARK on the other hand has had ZERO word of porting over so people were at least justified asking for Gigantoraptor and Falso.
