Suggestion

Australopiticus Tribuarius

Image

(Art by Xyphias for reference)

Lets see how things go here this time.

My idea for the australo is, as the title says, act as a surrogate tribemate, being able to do several things a player can such as craft items in smithies, use primitive tools and weapons, harvest resources, transport items to different inventories, and. These ancestors of ours could help craft and gather resources on command while off doing something else, put food in troughs or metal in forges, and so on. Australopiticus would have a crafting skill stat much like players and the gacha and the higher that stat is, the more items they can craft and use and more proficiency is added to items they make. The limit would be tek and modern items. They would spawn in early game places and moderately dangerous areas.

Taming the australo would be done passively by earning its respect. When approaching a troop, one must show submission via crouching to its leader to be allowed near, then must earn the rest of the troops' respect through feeding, grooming, giving gifts like flowers, flint, or even tools, or protecting them from harm if need be. Once all is done, the troop will happily join your tribe. This respect with still be required while tamed, needing to be cared for every once in a while to keep their happy and work efforts up or you'll run the risk of them abandoning your tribe.

My reason for its inclusion is to add a form of automation to game, assisting tribes large and small and solo players for various time-consuming tasks and as a means of testing for how npcs could work in Ark Ascended and 2.

With a bit of refinement/limits to what the creature can do, this would be a really goofy, but fun, addition!

I feel like the other feedback rings true, having it limited to more primitive things like manning a mortar and pestle or refueling a forge is where I'd draw the line. Having it be able to do everything a player can would make it quite powerful

The idea of something that can do most everything a player can seems a tad much. I could understand if you could use them to do more simple tasks like maintaining crops if given fertilizer or maybe repairing structures if given the proper materials out of combat, but having what's essentially an NPC is a stretch.

I don't see it being any different than a thrall in Conan Exiles, tbh. Frankly, having some kind of fully fledged NPC framework would be great for the modding community.

If this was the Dryopithecus I would have voted for this. The Dryopithecus is more chimpanzee like and this one looks too human like. I do like the idea of another monkey since they absolutely butchered the gigantopithecus. It's almost like they too the real gigantopithecus models and made it the megapithecus and snuck in a bigfoot model to try and fool the players.

Problem is ark is not Conan exiles. It's a different and far more buggy animal. Better to leave more advanced AI to modders.
