Scutosaurus was a one of the largest reptiles during the Permian. It was a hardy animal covered in osteoderms which made it have natural body armor, an effective defense against the predators of its time such as gorgonopsids. It had a large robust digestive system that allowed it to process plant matter efficiently. In game abilities could include natural armor and damage resistance and being able to harvest plants species y seeds efficiently. Other abilities and ideas can be added by fellow survivors in the comment section below. Please feel free to share and upvote so we can get our Walking with Monsters chad into the game. :)

The Scutosaurus was a large herbivorous reptile that lived over 250 million years ago during the Permian period. Scutosaurus was a distant relative of turtles, and the largest species were roughly the size of cattle at 1 ton in weight, although they could be made to be a bit larger in Ark. Their name translates to shield lizard for the large armored plates it had covering its body. I think this creature would be a perfect addition to Ark and in particular Scorched Earth for its geographic habitat, hardy nature, and tough exterior.

Abilities:

-Ram attack: The scutosaurus is able to build up momentum when running, allowing for it to briefly pick up speed and charge forward, slamming into a given target with its armored side. This attack causes heavy damage to structures and knocks back attackers.

-Bullet resistance: The heavy plates allow for the scutosaurus to soak an incredible amount of damage, and as a result of its natural armor firearms do reduced damage.

-Hardiness: Accustomed to living on vast deserts with little food and water these creatures require much less food than most other large herbivores.

-Pack mule: These lumbering herbivores can carry an incredible amount of resources for you across the desert

Taming: Tranq darts can't penetrate the animal's thick hide, so boulders via catapults are the preferred method.

Drops: Hide, raw meat, raw prime meat, scutosaurus scale. Scutosaurus scales can be used as an alternative to metal when crafting armor or shields.

Saddle: Required

So this is my entry for the expansion for ARK survival evolved, Scorched Earth.

This is Scutosaurus a large species of parareptiles of the late Permian period. Massively built and heavily adorned with bony armour & defensive spikes. These large herbivores are a blend of hippopotamus, tortoise & horned toad.

Defensive modes
Much like a Stegosaurus the Scutosaurus has three alternative modes of defence that enables various versatile forms to best suit against attackers.

A) Armoured scutes - The Scutosaurus gains a natural armoury in the form of a gauge that enables them to absorb a colossal amount of punishment dealt by attackers with a drag weight of 410, decreasing their damage to a mere 2. The moment the gauge deletes to 0 the Parareptile is inflicted with normal damage.

B) Dermal plates - The Scutosaurus gains the ability to inflict recoil from melee & ranged attacks dealt from enemies. Damage dealt by recoil inflicts twice the injury back onto the attacker.

C) Piercing spikes - The Scutosaurus gains the ability to grow sharp dermal spikes. In this mode the Parareptile gains an increased melee buff as well as the ability to add & inflict the gashed status debuff with its attacks. The piercing spikes also works the same manner as a melee recoil causing gashed status upon contact.

Bloodshot
Like the Desert horned toad the Scutosaurus has the ability to shoot coagulated blood from specialised sacs in the Parareptiles eyes. The blood shot from the Scutos eyes blinds as well as slows movement speed of the afflicted the same manner as the poisonous spit of a Dilophosaurus, lingering for several seconds. The Coagulated blood can also be collected & refined to create blood packs.

Cactus cruncher
As an Herbivore the favoured food of the Scuto is Cacti. Cactus sap & broth is used to tame a Scutosaurus. Upon tamed the Scuto is a superior mount for harvesting Cactus sap from the source than most tames or tools.

DjayMasi whipping up one of the most creative entries I've seen this creature vote! That's badass!

Dossier: Scutosaurus

Wild:

Scutosaurus primordius is a heavily armored herbivorous reptile that roams the scorched deserts of Ark's Scorched Earth map. With its massive size and impressive armor, Scutosaurus is a formidable survivor in the harsh and arid environment. Its tough skin and sturdy build provide excellent protection against predators and the scorching heat of the desert.

Unique Abilities:

  1. Sand Blast: Scutosaurus has the ability to expel a powerful blast of sand from its nostrils, creating a cloud of debris that can disorient and blind nearby enemies. This ability can be used defensively to deter predators or offensively to gain an advantage in combat.
  2. Burrow: Scutosaurus can burrow into the sand, disappearing from sight and becoming invulnerable to damage for a short period of time. This ability allows Scutosaurus to escape from dangerous situations or ambush unsuspecting foes.
  3. Heat Resistance and Fire Invulnerability: Scutosaurus has a high tolerance for extreme heat, allowing it to withstand the scorching temperatures of the desert without suffering from heat-related debuffs. Additionally, Scutosaurus is also invulnerable to damage from fire, making it immune to the effects of heat-based attacks from enemies or environmental hazards.

Domesticated:

Scutosaurus can be tamed and ridden, making it a valuable addition to any survivor's arsenal. Its unique abilities, including sand blast, burrow, and heat resistance with fire invulnerability, give it a tactical advantage in combat and survival situations. Its size, strength, and natural armor make it a reliable tank in battles, and its abilities provide it with additional utility for survival in the harsh environment of Scorched Earth.

Known Information:

Scutosaurus is a slow-moving but heavily armored herbivore that can become a formidable creature in the right hands. Its unique abilities make it a versatile mount and defender, allowing it to ambush enemies, escape from danger, and withstand the extreme heat of the desert as well as  fire-based attacks. Its size, strength, and natural armor make it a reliable tank in battles, and its abilities provide it with additional utility for survival in the harsh environment of Scorched Earth.

Note: Scutosaurus is generally herbivorous, but it has been known to become aggressive and defend itself when threatened. Approach with caution and be mindful of its formidable defenses.

ARK Dossier Summary:

Scutosaurus is a heavily armored herbivore with unique abilities including sand blast, burrow, and heat resistance with fire invulnerability. It is well-adapted to the harsh environment of Scorched Earth and makes for a formidable mount and defender. Survivors who can tame and master the Scutosaurus will have a reliable and versatile companion in their quest for survival in the unforgiving desert landscape.

The has been a huge lack in herbivores in ark especially in these votes and their winners, now it is time to change that people!

Need a lot of oil, tired of wyverns attacking you, want the dunes of scorched to have more use or just want a dumb but fun creature well I do to!

Meet the Scutosaurs the oil dune glider that sets it's self on fire, yes it sets its self on fire!

Abilities:

- Can collect oil from oil veins ( like a dire bear with bee hives).

- Has reduced weight reduction with oil and maybe ores.

- Can sniff of water veins, oil veins and explorer notes.

-Fast travel on the arks dunes by shifting its weight and sliding from dune to dune.

- (ANIT WYVEN) Has thick hide that makes it highly resistant to wyvern breath attack.

-Can cover it's self with oil through skin glands allowing it to slide around with out the dunes.

-Can set it's self on FIRE!!!!!!!

- Twice the movement speed when it's on fire and it gains speed if the player doesn't stop.

- Reduced turret damage and knockback at full speed.

- Once it hit a structure or creature it deals knockback damage and the oil on it's skin fly's of dealing fire damage to everything in the impact.

ANY MORE SUGGETION? PLEASE BE LOUD WITH THEM?

NOW GO OUT THERE AND VOTE BECAUCE IT SETS ITSELF ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!

To the point Scutosaurus is one of the strangest herbivores in the desert as it fills a role similar to the Morellatops but it instead consumes oil, sounds crazy yet it is able to store them in 5 different glands in it's back allowing it to transport large quantities of oil with weight reduction.

It has an amazing sense of smell as it can sniff out water sources, oil veins and even maybe explorer notes in just a matter of seconds. When it is at an oil vein it will dunk its head into the pit and slurp up the oil (it will have a cool down to when you can do it next), but this helps as you can save time as it will collect very large quantities of oil in the process.

A creature such as Scutosaurus would be preyed upon usually by creature such as wyverns yet its scutes and hide seem to be highly affective against wyvern breath this can even protect the rider with a special heat proof saddle. Some survivors may use the beast as a detraction to lure wyverns away from their nests or bunch them all together to take them out in one assault.

You will need that heat proof saddle as the Scutosaurs can excrete the oil onto it's skin and hide. Scutosaurs then chatters it's teeth or a survier uses a fire souce to create a spark causing it's body to go up in flames( it dose hurt the Scutosaurs but not that much) turning it into a fiery battering ram of pain.

Scutosaurs it great of PVE and PVP as it is amazing for oil collect and it is a great war mount against creature such as wyverns as their breath attacks to little to no damage to the Scutosaurs forcing the riders to land and be exposed to do more affective damage on the ground or retreat to get a more affective tame.

If being overwhelmed by an opponent Scutosaurs if a moderately fast creature but  when it is in the dunes it glides through the sand, due to unique hip and ankle bones scutosaurs can shift it's weight through out the dunes, some survivors have been seen riding on the back of scutosaur just cruising through the dunes just for fun. If you are not near the dunes don't worrier just set your Scutosaurs on fire and it will run at twice the speed.

And with this great speed the scutosaurs can turn into a battering ram as it has reduced damage to turrets once it gains full speed. Upon crashing into the creature and structure all of the burning oil on the scutosaurs fly's out covering a large radius dealing damage to creatures and wooden/thatch structure, the impact of the ram can harm all structures besides Tek. It must be known this is most likely a suicided mission during raids.

Ark needs more herbivores!

ARK NEEDS SOMETHING THAT SETS IT'S SELF ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!
