Rendering Thread Exception

So, I've played Ark a lot over the years, but I recently took a 6 month break, only to come back a month ago to having regular crashes of Ark. It's the same error each time, no rhyme or reason to it & it doesn't fully copy the log:

LowLevelFatalError [File:F:\build\GEN2DLC\Engine\Source\Runtime\RenderCore\Private\RenderingThread.cpp] [Line: 653]
Rendering thread exception:

Full error:
https://i.imgur.com/vuKr8nk.png

These are the steps I have tried:
- Verifying game files
- Deleting and re-subscribing mod files (Also noted crash in a mod free single player environment)
- Tried fully cleaning out NVIDIA drivers and re-installing
- Fully delete uninstall Ark, re-installed
- Fully re-installed Windows
- Tried downgrading various graphic settings
- Used PC monitoring tools to try and see if it was a hardware issue (didn't note anything significant)
- Used GeForce to install latest drivers

I think that is all - I've tried googling and just can't seem to find a solution that works for me. And now it's crashing on Gen 2. It has no rhyme or reason - sometimes it crashes immediately, sometimes I can get through an entire mission no problem and play for an hour plus. All steam is installed on my SSD. Send your thoughts and prayers...

Your pc is sexy except for it's lacking in the ram a bit.  You need at least 6GB of ram and 8GB is best.  Idk if that is the problem with Ark for you or not but if you have a slot for ram it would not hurt to order some cheap ram sticks on Amazon snap them in there.  In my pc there were two ram slots available so I put in 4GB into each to get the 8GB needed.  Pay attention to size and model that work with your pc I wont do that research for you cause I had to already for myself and it was a pain in the backside.  First time I tried ordered the wrong size was so sad.  I think Newegg once had a free online tool that told you what parts go with your system idk if they still do.  Good luck.

Ram aint the issue - you got lots!

Have you tried playing an older map for a bit to see if its to do w the new release? Rendering is graphics stuff - so it may be an error w new textures or somesuch that released w Gen 2?

1070 is a fairly old card (just like my radeon R9 :) ) and maybe there is some stuff that relies on newer card capabilities.

In the OLD days (like 4 years ago) adding these launch options to ark in steam / properties fixed a lot of crashes - maybe worth a try?

Yeah, I should have clarified - I've been having this error ever since I started playing again a few weeks ago (i.e. before Gen2). Happens on all maps.

No idea about the card... it's strange though I was thinking maybe a driver problem or something since I've played for years without issue... Maybe this is a sign to upgrade my card???

I remember those old days too! I know I messed around with launch options from googling around, but let me try with those 3 to see if that fixes it. Fingers crossed.

i have tried all the launch options since morning even edited registry to increase tdr delay......nothing works.....on top of that so far on every forum post ive read players say only 1 thing. This bug is here for since the game released and no official fix since then. This happens on low end gpu's to high end gpu's (actually read posts with super high end gpu's listed with the same bug).

Same errors - it really is random how often it happens. Sometimes I can get through an entire mission, sometimes the same mission crashes half way through

Ok so this has worked for me - I used MSI afterburner to actually limit my cards ability below maximum as noted in these settings:

See core and memory clocks decreased. Haven't had a crash since.

I have considered this but really dont want to attempt because i dont know how to do it and never attempted underclocking mostly because im scared something might go wrong.
