  1. Pygmy Mammoths

Please consider adding pygmy mammoths to the island If not the ARK dev's surely a modder is up to the task. They were a smaller version of the columbian mammoth that lived on the islands off of california and went extinct about 2000 years ago. Herbivore island would be a great place for them to spawn. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pygmy_mammoth Thank you
  2. Does anyone have any updates at all when the dossier physical book will be sold standalone? There was a tweet posted 3 months ago about that they're planning to sell it standalone but I have not seen anything about it since then.
  3. 3 Bugs: 1. Our dossiers collected don't save. When I reload the game, they are gone. And sometimes when first player collects the dossier, the experience icon does not show up on the 2nd player screen, but it does vice versa. 2. Our map data doesn't save. The explored area resets every time I load the game. (Same for first and second players) 3. There are always a bunch of sparkler skins and parasaur saddle skins piling up in our inventory. Not sure why, but it's a bit annoying. I never see "Added sparkler skin", they just show up. Thanks!
  4. Wild The Archelon is a magnificent creature to behold; these gentle giants make their home in the semi-shallow coastal waters of The Island and all but ignore most life-forms in their vicinity. While studying them I discovered that these enormous sea turtles are one of only two creatures on the entire Island that prove entirely immune to all forms of drug or electrically induced torpor. In fact, they prey almost exclusively on Cnidaria and actually draw enormous amounts of nutrients from the chemical breakdown of their bio-toxins. Domesticated Taming one of these turtles can prove a very daunting task as the only way to subdue them is to grab onto their shells and hold on for dear life as they power-dive into the deepest darkest waters in an attempt to shake off their would-be conquerors, for good. Once tamed however, Narcoaegis serves as a loyal bodyguard for undersea travelers and will frighten off any Cnidaria that come too close for comfort. What's more, an Archelon that consumes enough Cnidaria will produce minute amounts of bile which can be consumed by Survivors to grant temporary immunity to all torpor-inducing effects. 5. Common Name: Giant Crab Group: Invertebrates Species: Megaxantho Hephaestus Time Period: Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Skittish Wild Megaxantho is a creature whose temperament simply doesn't seem to align with it's stature. It is a massive creature that bears pincers large enough to challenge even the deadliest of ocean predators, but when attacked, it seems to choose flight over fight every time, even when domesticated! It is rare however, to see any but the largest ocean predators even willing to attack Megaxantho, as it is impossible to escape a such a struggle unscathed by it's jagged armor. Domesticated Named after the Greek god of metallurgy, the Giant Crab is a creature both coveted and prized by water-dwelling tribes. It's primary food source are the vast deposits of bacteria and small organisms that litter the sea floor around The Island, but in processing this food source, something miraculous occurs. Traces deposits of minerals are picked up as the Crabs dredge the ocean floor and over time they are secreted out of it's shell and crystallize. Water dwelling tribes thus keep large groups of these creatures and jealously protect them, occasionally harvesting raw metal, and very rarely obsidian or crystal, from their shells. Other Dossiers:
  6. Common Name: Giant Owl Group: Birds Species: Ornimegalonyx Ardentium Time Period: Late Pleistocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Reactive Wild Ornimegalonyx Ardentium, more commonly known as the Giant Owl, is a truly fascinating creature. Like the Megalosaurus, it is a primarily nocturnal animal that can be found sleeping during most of the day. Unlike the Megalosaurus, however, stumbling upon one in this state probably won't engender any feelings of affection; as they sleep upright with their eyes wide open and will utterly terrify most unprepared hikers who stumble upon them in their deep jungle hideaways. Though they are not normally aggressive towards humans, bothering them while they are awake will lead them to create a powerful burst of wind with their wings and take-off into the skies. I've heard tales of survivors falling to their deaths off of foliage obscured jungle cliffsides due to disturbing a Giant Owl. Some have even suggested that the creatures lure them there intentionally... Domesticated What makes Ornimegalonyx worth taming is the startlingly unique properties they exhibit during their active hours. Aside from increased vigor and the ability to silently glide over vast distances, their feathers seem to be dusted by a curious type of silver particulate that is highly reflective and almost amplifies moonlight, lending them a slight glow that provides low lighting in the immediate area around them. What's more, survivors riding Ornimegalonyx will actually acquire enhanced night vision due to these silver particles trailing off the feathers and embedding themselves in the rider's retina. Unlike true silver, these metal particles seem to have no harmful effects even with long term exposure, making Ornimegalonyx a valuable tame for night operations... Other Dossiers:
  7. Fan Made Phoenix dossier idea

This is a Phoenix dossier I made, and I hope the Devs end up seeing it, as it may provide them with ideas for the Phoenix. Common Name:Phoenix Group:Birds Species:Aluminum Avem Time:Uknown Diet:Minerals Temperament:Varied Wild: Aluminum Avem commonly known as Phoenix, I first discovered Aluminum Avem when I was making a trip past the Wyvern Trench. When I first I arrived in the local area I spotted something that looked out place, I saw a large orange bird flying into the Wyvern Trench, without a visible sign of fear. It rushed in head on even combating the Wyverns but mostly evading their attacks the battle was intense, but truly there was no victor, but the orange bird emerged with what it came for, a Wyvern egg the creature was carrying the egg in its claws taking it to a small cliffside. To my suprise the bird was not eating the egg but eating the minerals that formed around the Wyvern egg, Afterwards it then began to spray molten magma out from it's mouth to the ground, I also noticed there was a loss in speed when the Phoenix was away from the Wyverns. Domesticated: I have never truly seen a domesticated Phoenix with my own eye's but apparently it's possible there are rumors going about they can be tamed, but the process is not an easy one, they say that you must obtain a Wyvern egg or feed it mass amounts of Sulfur, then the Phoenix will pledge it's loyalty to the tribe. To keep the Phoenix well fed the tribe that claims to have one said rocks and stones would fufill the Phoenix's appetite. They also mention using the Phoenix to pick up Wyvern eggs and bolt hastily, It seems to be able to steal Wyvern eggs quicker then any other flyers in that given situation, but cannot out speed other's when not in the situation. They also mentioned the Phoenix's Being able to melt stone into crystal. My idea for the Phoenix is that it will be a mount made for stealing Wyvern eggs and having a few other purposes, anyways thanks for checking out my Art and my idea.
  8. About a week ago i was in the middle of playing had had realized that was was not getting me skins i had unlocked from completing certain Challenges/Achievements. I also realized my Dossier had been wiped clean as if i had never unlocked any of the explorer notes which i was over 60% done with. i submitted a ticket a week ago and haven't got response so hoping to get some help this way..... my settings are set for me to get my skins when i spawn (was the 1st thing i checked)
  9. So when I first started playing ARK and collecting the dossiers I thought to myself, "I would love that when the official release happens they will create a physical copy of the dino dossiers to have with the game." And behold, my prayers have been answered. I am really excited for this and the official release of the game. Thank you again WC. PS - Now I just need to find $170, I have 6 cats to sell...any takers???
  10. Fan Made Dossier Reveal

I created a video simulating the revelations that the official channel of Ark does on the files using Sony Vegas, I took a while because I am still learning to use the program. Is it good?
  11. Note/Dossier/Map Random Resets Simply put, every so often my map/notes/dossiers reset back to 0. I have to find them all over again and fill out the map meanwhile not obtaining the xp boost because "I have already found them." This is particularly annoying when you unlock a particular note/dossier that you had to unlock in a difficult way. Additional info being that its the same character/same server but it still resets either way and there is no telling when its going to reset until it hits.
  12. Dino Dossier

Hi, I first played ARK on the XBOX 1 but eventually I moved to PC. My question is where the heck is the Dino Dossiers on PC? I was told it was in the survivor profile from the ESC menu but whenever I go in there it only shows the weird ones like the explorer notes and such. I'd go on and look but whatever update they dropped this evening has gave me some weird debug message that is already posted on the forums.
  13. I'm currently trying to make a slew of dossiers with a large number of creatures. Some of you may have known my other works of Sordes, Sciurumimus, Diicty, and several written dossiers. I have actually taken much enjoyment in creating these and I plan to release more dossiers. A LOT more. I'll put a list down below of the creatures I'm planning.I'm not gonna be taking requests until most of these creatures get completed dossiers. Currently I'm working on just the title picture (The actual creature on the dossier...Y'know, the one in color) for each of them so far. Several of these do have written dossers which I may link under their name. As for their use, well, almost all of the creatures on the list DO have a use that I have planned. Some of them I want to be a surprise, others I'll reveal what they are, but this is mostly going to be for creatures that aren't as well known. Also if you are an experienced artist PLEASE PLEASE give feed back. I've suddenly started to try to make my creatures in different perspective other than the usual facing left and right. If you ever find something that can be critiqued on PLEASE comment below. With that being said here is the list of creatures that I am working on. Anomalcaris -Sketched Bear Otter - Sketched, will be changed Cryolophosaurus -Sketched and written Cryptocleidus - Sketched Dendrorhynchoides - Sketched and revealed Dracoraptor - Written and Sketched Dsungaripterus - Sketched Harpagornis - Written Horned Gopher - Sketched Incisivosaurus -Sketched and Written Irritator - Revealed, possibly sketched but may be changed. Koreaceratops Leptictidium - Sketched Moa - Sketched Nothosaurus - Sketched, will be changed. Odobenoceretops - Sketched Pliosaurus - Sketched Pterodaustro - Sketched Pyroraptor - Sketched Saltasaurus - Sketched and Written Scorpion-Wasp - Written Shunosaurus - Sketched Spinolestes - Sketched Guanlong - Sketched, Slightly revealed That seems to be all of them, for now at least. I should also state none of these dossiers are requests for the creatures, I've tried that once with microraptor and...Well the actual dossier that got released was a huge letdown...In my opinion at least. No, all of these dossiers are basing themselves around the concepts of the creatures, from their abilities, to the resources they provide, to even some items or engrams that are completely original. After the microraptor dossier, I've never used any of these dossier for creatures that I would want in the game. I'm planning to be a game designer...Not a fanatic. With that being said, I have a lot of work to do. I will be trying to update this page as much as I can as I try to go on this little journey. But designing dossiers is just fun to me. Everything about their design and purpose makes me love them a lot. And please, give constructive feedback when you feel like it. Current Fan dossier pictures Written Dossiers Creature idea brainstorm Bear Otter Related to Nothosaur, everything else is a surprise Cryptocleidus A slippery plesiosaur that acts like the seal of the ocean. Dsungaripterus A specialized pterosaur that puts all of the pound in...um...impounded.. Horned Gopher Sorta like a purlovia...But with a slight difference Koreaceratops A dinosaur hippo. Will be able to harvest a special thing that can only be found underwater Leptictidium One word...Caladrius...That is like...The best hint I can give you..It's mysterious and ominous Moa Will provide a new resource, and I promise...It won't be an oversized dodo. It'll be a combination of a horse, a sheep, and a chicken. Nothosaurus Related to Bear otter, everything else is a surprise Odobenoceretops Need something cracked? He's on the case. Will be able to gather a new resource Pterodaustro Basically a Pterosaur version of a Ganet. Will be able to gather a new food source. Pyroraptor Give him caffeine and he'll heat up for sure...Also the definition of the actual type species is pretty important. Shunosaurus Whatever the Bronto has, it doesn't have, whatever Bronto can't do, it can do. Spinolestes Will possess an excessive amount of quills on its back...you'll never guess what those quills can do. Anomalcaris Has a relation to the trilobites and eurypterids Pliosaurus Thylacoleo of the seas...Beware fliers Guanlong A beautiful songbird...Brings joy to my soul and body. Leptictidium Need some hand sanitizers? Oh and bless you! Possible newcomer projects Pelecanimimus Kootenichella Hypuronector Raptorex Tiaraspis - (A small fry creature) My favorite resource for references...And ideas But seriously though, Susan Stieglitz is awesome for making this board. https://www.pinterest.com/SusanStieglitz/critters/ Important new mechanics to take note of Personality types Dream Ark Map and new biomes New Engram System New Taming methods New engrams - COMING SOON New resources - COMING SOON New Debilitations - COMING SOON
  14. I don't know if any of you will remember this, but a long time ago I submitted a fan dossier created by myself with art commissioned from a friend of mine on the Steam community and it appeared in a community crunch. It was the Cambrian Worm aka "Ottoia Mongolia" dossier. Since then, I actually had been working with another artist I commissioned on a second dossier. I had everything written up and paid him, threw together a layout I thought was great, but to no avail. The artist ran into some serious personal problems, and despite paying him, I let him off the hook as he is a good friend of mine and I understand what he's going through. In light of this, I would like to hand the incomplete image over to the community. He had been making great headway with the primary art, but hadn't gotten around to finishing it up or doing any of the margin doodles. The Dossier was also to have the words "NOT A RODENT" scribbled in a few places, because you just know people are going to be calling it Ark's "Rodent" or "Rat", and honestly, that is the role it was meant to fill, however in this case the "rats" are dog sized or bigger. One of the most prominent features on Deinogalerix was definitely its horrifying jaws. Deinogalerix was a Gymnure, having far more in common with Hedgehogs and Shrews than any rodent, and I decided to base it mostly on the Ladder, shrews, to further push the "Big Rodent" trope it is meant to fill, since Shrews are commonly mistaken for Rodents. One of the more interesting aspects of shrews is that they are incredibly fast and violent. They are highly unpredictable and very few people could ever handle one without having their hands bitten repeatedly, and some are even venomous. This would be perhaps the first example of a small animal being more difficult to tame than a T-Rex. Taming difficulty has scaled with size for the most part, but Deinogalerix would be an exception to the rule. In order to justify this, however, I felt it necessary to make the animal more useful than any other small tame. It can't be mounted, being dog-sized, but moves faster than any other carnivore, and is incredibly proficient at remaining undetected by predators. If tamed, this creature could roam into a herd of hostiles without drawing attention, and once it bites something, that animal alone would follow it, unable to catch up, with the other animals paying no attention to such a small threat. (This would be used purposely to draw dinos and potentially players away from a group, without triggering nearby dinos to attack and into an ambush. In addition, a bite from Deinogalerix also has a chance of passing on a disease or affliction similar to rabies, however non-fatal, to its prey. Players could use this as a form of sabotage against other tribes, making some animals prone to turning on one another and their masters, similar to the Giganotosaurus. Given that Gymnures are nocturnal, I also figure this thing would typically remain unseen in caves and tall grass during the day, So yeah, now the community has the idea, and the thoughts I had behind it. It disappoints me that I wasn't able to finish it, and I don't have the cash to commission another artist or the talent to draw it myself, but maybe now by handing it to you guys, someone might like to take the reigns. Should anyone feel inspired want to make their own attempt at a Deinogalerix dossier, by all means, take over and finish what I couldn't. I had a lot of fun with it. EDIT: Seriously though, guys. IT'S NOT A RODENT!
  15. Bionic Rex Skin

Hello, I've unlocked every dossier, every note, killed BM, Mega, and the Dragon and still do not receive the Bionic Rex skin on completion. I'm beginning to wonder if it is not awardable anymore, which would be very disappointing. If someone could shed some light on this, that would be awesome. The only things I do not have done in Survivor Profile are SE notes, dossiers, and Chimera.
  16. I've killed the dragon and Megapithecus multiple times and neither dossiers will unlock. Do we get anything like the bionic skin for completing the new survivor profile? If not I'm not that concerned but if we do, I'd like to know what to do to unlock them.
  17. Food is Ark Art

  18. So I've been wanting to make fan dossiers for a long time now but I was going to make them in art form. Unfortunately I found myself with more ideas than I could draw, so I'm just going to write them up and then maybe do art of a handful of them instead. So, to start off with this, introducing... Common name: Dakotaraptor Scientific name: Dakotaraptor pachyavis Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Territorial Wild One of the few dinosaurs found on the island fully covered in feathers, they can be found in the cooler climates near the Redwood forests as well as any dense jungles or wooded areas. This seems to have resulted in them favoring staying in packs to hunt together, using the think foliage to ambush prey. This pack-like behavior seems to invigorate Dakotaraptor pachyavis and results in larger packs being able to outrun even the faster prey items on the island. What is more curious about Dakotaraptor is that by itself, they seem to be slower than the other raptors found on the island. I will have to research more on what may cause the increase in speeds when they are in packs, but one thing is for sure: a pack of Dakotaraptor is not something you will be able to outrun safely. The Dakotaraptors of the island are hardy creatures that seem to be able to traverse even the roughest of terrain for miles upon miles. They are able to jump with little effort through the air, whether it is to reach spots they normally could not approach on foot, or to tackle smaller prey items and pin them to the ground. It seems their stamina knows no bounds, and that their strength is great. I have witnessed a lone Dakotaraptor lift the carcass of a Parasaur into a tree to feast upon safely, a feat that shows the great weights it can carry. Domesticated While some tribes I have seen use the Dakotaraptor for war mounts, I have seen far more tribes make use of its endurance and weight lifting capabilities to make caravans of the creature. The fact that it grows stronger and faster in packs seems to almost encourage this use, as large quantities of materials and other important objects can be carried quickly in a small pack halfway across the island. And because they are efficient predators, this allows them to protect themselves as well as any other creature that is a part of the caravan from most small to medium sized predators, barring anything as big as or bigger than a Rex. It seems that their ability to pin even comes in use for dealing with any flying threats that get too close for comfort. A most interesting sight I have seen is of a pack of Dakotaraptors perched on the back of a Paraceratherium as it moved along in a caravan. It seems like their fondness for roosting allows for convenient ways to bring them along aside from on foot.
  19. (This is a fanmade dossier) Common name: Radiant Firefly Name: Megalampyridae Time: Permian Diet: Omnivore Temperament: Curiously Docile, flighty if provoked aggressively. Please have a full read, and then tell me what you think of how well this could exist in amongst the ARK creature roster, and game dynamics. Thanks in advance! T.O.C Dossier/Wild/Domesticated/Known Information/Breeding Benefits/Balancing/Methods of using the creature Photo of a Firefly for reference 1. Dossier//Wild//Domesticated//Known Information 2. Benefits/Balancing/Methods of using the creature - Here's some way's it could be handy to players in ARK: In PvP- Having this creature be able to 'switch off' it's luminescence when threatened would balance against how it can be abused by players... Unless they're crafty about it. This can also be used as a lure for PvP purposes if player(s) are clever enough to utilize it effectively. Also, in order to keep it's luminescence brighter, it would require a supply of Rare Mushrooms to consume (Much like other Dinos need food), otherwise it'll dim and not be as effective. In PvE- it'd be a good scout to tag along you when farming or scouting, effective for lighting up an area when tools or resources to light up areas are scarce. In order to keep it's luminescence brighter, it would require a supply of Rare Mushrooms to consume (Much like other Dinos need food), otherwise it'll dim and not be as effective. 3. 20. Introducing the Hyaenodon!

Dino Dossier A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone’s favorite scrappy scavenger, the Hyaenodon! Common Name: Hyaenodon Species: Hyaenodon Dirus Time: Late Eocene - Early Miocene Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Opportunistic Wild Among the Island’s tenacious pack hunters is Hyaenodon Dirus, a carnivore most often found across the mountains and tundras, in packs of 3 to 5. The Hyaenodon is a very intelligent predator: before engaging, it determines if the payoff for a fight is worth the risk of injury. Hyaenodon often prefer not to fight unless there is already weakened prey nearby, or a fresh carcass. This temperament changes quickly, thought, near the presence of injured or dying creatures. Hyaenodon quickly becomes very aggressive, and the pack attacks with ruthless abandon. With each vicious chomp of scavenged meat, the Hyaenodon rapidly recovers health and stamina. Domesticated Despite being too small to ride, Hyaenodon are still popular pets. Their intelligence means they train well, and their natural pack strength makes them excellent hunting dogs. Their capability to quickly recover health by consuming raw flesh off the bone ensures they can take much punishment and yet continue fighting. A common (and terrifying) sight on the tundra is a rider on a canis with a pack of Hyaenodon at it’s side, howls and jeers echoing through the night.
  21. Dino Dossier A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone’s favorite gargantuan beast of the waters, the Leedsichthys! Common Name: Leedsichthys Species: Leedsichthys Conviviumbrosia Time: Mid-Jurassic Diet: Piscivore Temperament: Defensive Wild Leedsichthys Conviviumbrosia is probably the largest fish in the waters around the island. Its meant is also extremely succulent, a surprise given its size. It is often traded with the same value as Prime Meat, and colloquially called ‘Prime Fish’. Of course, not all of Leedsichthys’ meat is this high quality but most of it is! While the demand for Leedsichthys meat is high, the fish is notoriously difficult to track and hunt. Between its large size, powerful attacks, incredible speed (when it turns to flee), and humankind’s general ineptitude on open water, actually killing a Leedsichthys is one of the island’s more difficult tasks. The hunt for an extremely elusive breed of the fish, the fabled ‘Great Albino’ Leedsichthys has been known to drive otherwise-sensible men and women mad with obsession, as if all evil were visibly personified and made practically assailable in this one creature. Domesticated Despite its large size, and the fact that it may well be strong enough to carry heavy loads, Leedsichthys does not appear to be intelligent enough to tame. Nevertheless, some large tribes keep an enormous pen with a few Leedsichthys trapped inside for cultivating purposes, as bits of prime fish can be repeatedly scraped off the gargantuan beast without killing it.
  22. dossier Introducing the Troodon!

Dino Dossier A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone’s favorite intelligent pack hunter, the Troodon! Common Name: Troodon Species: Troodon Magnanimus Time: Late Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Nocturnally Aggressive Wild: Quite possibly the most intelligent non-human creature on the island, Troodon Magnanimus is an incredibly fast learner. It understands meaningful experiences much more quickly than other creatures (including humans), and its social nature means it also teaches its packmates, making them more clever too. If Troodon’s cleverness didn’t make it formidable, than its tactics and biology do. It specifically pack-hunts at night when we are most vulnerable, and sees humans as its primary prey. This audacity is made especially dangerous due to its serrated fangs’ poison, which drains stamina from any creature, but outright paralyses humans. Thankfully, Troodon is fairly small. Were it larger, it might well have become the dominant creature of its ecosystem. Domesticated: I thought Troodon simply could not be tamed, until I finally saw a lone survivor with one. She told me that she let “Troody” hunt a few of her tribe’s smaller creatures for sport, and it eventually started following her everywhere. It seems that while Troodon is too intelligent to fall for the rote conditioning of ‘tranq-and-feed’, it can instead gradually gain loyalty from a social approach that provides it the opportunity to hunt. Ever since, I have wondered at the benefits that a pack of ultra-smart, bred-for-battle Troodon may bring to a tribe brave enough to earn the favor of these clever carnivores.
