  1. Icthyovenator, Phantom of the Deep Icthyovenator laosensis “Fish Hunter” Early Cretaceous (Aptian), Approx. 125 - 113 MYA Spawns: Red Zone waters, and Green Zone waters. Neutral until hungry A Spinosaurid from Laos with an immense appetite and wonderfully horrific, endless throat pouch to go with it. Wild: As if Baryonyx and Spinosaurus were not able to rule enough of the waterways, Icthyovenator has made its place in the ecosystem right where they have not. These spinosaurids are surprisingly placid compared to their cousin, only becoming aggressive when it comes time to feed. Should something disturb their meal, or something more appetizing show itself, Icthyovenator will quickly change course. Though it isn’t like it needs to do anything in order to catch itself something different. The strange sounds it is able to make can surely lure just about any creature, I’m convinced. Domesticated: If one can brave Valguero's treacherous rivers and overcome the prospect of setting fish into the water for Icthyovenator to snap up, they would find themselves with, probably, the best aquatic mount for traversing the many rivers and lakes of Valguero. The unique properties of the throat sac allow for a wide variety of utilities, including both solidification of liquid elements and condensing of gas! The singing also allows for the gathering of large amounts of fish meat. Combined with Icthyovenator’s speed and power, there’s very little that can challenge this steed in Valguero's deepest depths. Attacks Left click: Bite Hold right click: Start suction R: Change target creature ammo C : Spit X: Start/Stop song Ctrl: Swallow - Bite has a turnaround similar to Sarco. - Bite speed is similar to Carno. - Decent land speed, both walking and running. - Fast underwater but not agile. - Holding C can aim the spit better. Singing The Icthyovenator has a lovely bellow it is able to produce that sounds similar to a tuba mixed with an alligator’s territorial bellow. You can use X in order to start (and stop) this song, which brings you into a minigame much like the Mammoth’s. While playing, the Icthyovenator will start to lure in creatures around it. The better you play, the bigger creatures you can attract! Better songs will also slightly increase the range. When under the effects of the song, creatures become passive as if they were being lured by bee honey. Other details about their singing: - Throat lights up when singing. - Attracts wild fish, making them easier to net, trap, or kill. *Wild Icthyovenators can only lure aquatic creatures. Suction Another feature of Icthyovenator is their suction ability. This goes into their fish-slinging ability later but has other features that could come in handy. When used on fish, manta rays, angler fish, and other small creatures, the Icthyovenator sucks them up and stores them in its gullet, much like a regular fish trap (but without the spoil timer). The size (drag weight) and amount of creatures it can store are dependent on the Icthyo’s own weight stat. The Icthyo can choose to either spit out or swallow any creatures in its throat. If it swallows something with items in its inventory, the items will appear in the Icthyo’s inventory. Other details about their suction: - Can be used on dropped items and bags. - Can be used on many different liquids. - Some items and creatures sucked up can be swallowed (CTRL) for different effects. - Effects for swallowing: — Fish: Healing (similar to Argentavis). — Angler Fish: Gives angler gel. — Water: Hydrated status. — Liquid Element: Solidifies into Element Shards. — Narcotics/Biotoxin: Temporary tranquilizing bite. *Icthyo cannot swallow as many things as it can use for slinging. Effects can easily be added. - Swallowing Trilobites and Eurypterids has a higher drop rate of silica/black pearls from them but gives less Chitin. Fish Slinging Icthyovenator’s offensive capability is not to be shrugged off. With certain items and creatures available, the Icthyo is able to launch them out of its mouth as a projectile. Each projectile has a different effect. - Liquid Element: Projectile that deals DoT when hit with it. - Angler gel: Flammable, glowing puddle. Leaves target glowing. - Fish: Simple projectile. - Manta Ray: Temporary stun. - Water: High knockback projectile. - Nameless Venom: Gives rabies when directly hit, leaves puddles that can lure Rock Drakes. - Gas ball/Gas vent: Suffocating smoke grenade. - Narcotics: Tranquilizing projectile. - Players: Simple projectile. Taming To tame the Icthyovenator sounds like an easy task but, in reality, it is more challenging than you would expect. Simply grab a fish basket filled with delicious fish and wait until the Icthyovenator starts “singing”. Once it starts, release the tamed fish into the water where it is starting to lure other wild fish. The Icthyo will eat the fish and taming will progress! The amount of taming it gives depends on the species and size of the fish you give the Icthyo. Coelacanth gives the least, then Piranha, Sabertooth Salmon, and finally, Anglerfish give the most. Other details about taming: - The Icthyovenator will start to drool just before it’s about to sing so you have time to place the food. - While Icthyo is neutral when it wanders, they grow aggressive during feeding times and will quickly turn on you if you get too close. Ghillie is recommended! - Feeding Icthyo an Anglerfish will leave it glowing and confused, but satisfied! This allows you more time to get away from it.
